Guys,help naman oh. I keep putting off going to the gym kse I'm so shy. Feeling ko pag titinginan ako ng mga tao atska wala kse akong makasama mag gym. I'm a lil on the heavy side. So any tips?

every1 starts somewhere naman e ! yun nalang isipin mo. dont care what others may think. sa simula lang yan. once you get the body u want to hit for ... okay na yun! ... :D

sa totoo lang when i first started going to the gym,yan din iniisip ko...pero later on i realized lahat sila busy sa pagwowork out na di nila makuhang mapansin ang isang tao...kung kasama sa gym, walang problema yun,just always wear a smile on your face,magkakaron ka na ng friends sa gym in no time.sometimes magiging kakwento mo habang nasa treadmill ka or pinagtatawanan nyo mga sarili nyo kasi pareho kayong di makasunod sa aero class...ako nga ngayon sinasabihan na ako ng trainers na ang daldal ko na raw, whereas before ang tahimik ko daw :) atsaka kung iisipin mo na baka pagtawanan ka dahil youre on the heavy side, isipin mo na lang ganun din sila before nakuha lang sa workout,kaya wala silang K pagtawanan ka. o di ba ang taray :lol:

ako din eh nahihiya kasi seksi nga mga tao dun tsaka super skimpy ang tight ng mga damit nila. ala pa ko nakikita na naka- t- shirt. :~(

Thanks for the support ha! actually naman before enjoy ako mag gym dun malapit sa Taft kse nga kasama ko mga dormates ko. Di ko lang maiwasan mahiya kse nga feeling ko pag titinginan ako.

isipin mo na lang na lahat ng mga tao ay may kanya kanyang insecurities sa buhay.

kung na co conscious ka, most probably yung makakatabi or makakasabay mo sa gym meron din isang aspeto sa katawan niya na kina co conscious niya..

ang lastly, kung tinitignan ka nila, eh di tignan mo din sila. :glee:

Check this out: when I went to the Gym, I was 175 lbs, 24% Body Fat and that was 6 months ago...$h*t, super conscious akong mag work out noon since nakakasabay ko ang Navy SEALs at Marine Force Recon sa gym (those guys are HUGE!)

At first, I feel so awkward, dahil hindi ko pa masyadong alam kung ano ang gagawin ko and the fact that I was "a li'l heavy off the side" was making me uncomfortable. That didn't stop me dahil I was determined to change myself. You know what? SO after 6 months working out, I'm 155 lbs, 10% bodyfat and I feel so F*ck*ng good!

Tiyaga lang...watch what you eat too :)

PAnu ba malaman ang bodyfat? kse nung first time ko sa slimmers alabang, napaka snobbish nung mga trainers di ko man lang malapitan. San ka ba nag gym? Kaya minsan ngayon naglalakad na lang ako sa park to relax kahit may gym sa tapat ng park namin kaya lang kse sobrang liit e.

Magpatulong ka sa trainer. If they're snobbish and not helpful, punta ka na lang sa ibang gym. Remember that we all gotta start somewhere. Concentrate ka na lang sa ginagawa mo. Yeah nakakainis talaga pag pinagtitinginan, pero wag mo na lang pansinin. :redsmile:

That's true...it's really hard to start a "Gym Routine"...took me awhile before getting acquainted with the equipments...once you got it rolling...your body will be craving for it :)

sa megamall hinde...parang barkada na nga namin mga FT dun eh. sometimes kasi there are trainers who are only after those who avail of the one on one program.tutulungan ka lang kasi binabayaran mo sila per ora...
pano malalaman ang bodyfat...u know that clamp na ginagamit nung mga nutritionist nila,yung para kang kinukurot, yun ata ang pangdetermine nila eh.

I suggest you go to Fitness First cause unlike slimmers world the FT are really friendly and accommodating they have one in alabang, makati and libis.

tin28: Fat calipers are very inaccurate, the more informed trainers know this. If you want to measure the fat percentage in your body (in the most accurate way), your best bet would be in using one of those Tanita-style scales. :)

Shy mag gym? Remember that you're working out for yourself, not other people. Don't worry if the weights you lift are so light compared to some regular, fabio-like weight lifter. Just focus on form above all else and you'll be getting results in no time. :)

Thanks for the moral support ha! May na convince na akong friend na samahan ako tom. Ang problem nga e walang magandang gym dito sa Las Pinas puro sa Alabang pa e pag malayo medyo nakakatamad na.:)

dat's one of the hurdles that u have to surpass...overcoming "katamaran". Tell u what, try running first...if there is one good fat burning exercise, its running. Remember to warm up thoroughly before engaging in any exercises/weight lifting stuff.

As a said, it is really hard to establish a routine specially for working out...but you have to tell yourself that "this is for the greater good"... it requires sacrifices (like resisting chocolatey temptations :D ) in order to achieve that goal.

Don't hesitate to ask more Qs :)

ay hello. nagpunta ako ng slimmer's alabang. susme... nakakadiri. parang mate-tetano ako sa dumi.

at ang instructor, parang kinuha lang nila kung saan saan. injury-mania....

wala bang matinong gym sa south?!

Ang Slimmer's nga ngayon ang kulit kulit na kse konti na lang yta members nila dahil madami nang bagong gyms ngayon e. Alam ko they have a promo na P3000 tapos 30 sessions w/c you have to finish in 3 months parang ganun. Sa Alabang talaga magaling lang pumorma yung trainors.
Does it count yung sobrang brisk walking ko sa mall? Tska pag naglalakad ako sa park parang sobrang nakakpagod unlike sa treadmill, is there a difference?

parang kung san san lang sila hinagilap... parang naglalakad daw sa recto, sabay sabi ng slimmers... "puede ka turo ng aero sa alabang?"

iba kasi ang nature ng tinatapakan mo sa park (asphalt, cement or soil) tapos hindi even ang level (minsan mabato, may hump, etc), di tulad ng treadmill na flat na flat ang surface.... kaya mas may konting strain daw sa knees...

Sa Philam ako nagwawalking e. Sarap kse ng fresh air nakak relax. Pero nga ngayon dahil sa law skul di na ako makapag walking dahil sa dami ng cases na kailangan basahin! haaayyy!

Brisk walking sa mall? Hmm, the only thing that I can think of is that whenever people sees you walking "a tad faster" only means one thing...you are in a hurry to go to the bathroom to jumebs :D

Warm up for a good 20 minutes before you run/workout

uhmmm... i was replying to the thread starter's dilemma na nahihiya daw sya mag-gym dahil baka pagtitinginan sya ng tao because she's a bit on the heavy side.

again, sabi ko, no worries, because the only people na tinitingnan sa gym ay yung mga magagandang katawan.

Ei everybody! Thanks talaga for the moral support ha! inaadjust ko na nga skedule ko para maisinggit ko ang pagpnta ko sa gym everyday e. Kaya lang wala naman akong mhanap na ok na gym dito sa las pnas or alabang. :(

I just want to thank everybody for their support! Nakapag gym na ako kanina. Umabsent pa ako sa class para lang makapag start na ako. Nagpasama pa ako sa Mom ko, sana naman maipagpatuloy ko ito! Thanks again!:D :D :D

that's ok xyzseaman, I knw naman that you are busy. I dunno pero parang slow lang yung program namin ng Mom ko dun sa bagong gym. Sa Slimmer's kse the next day, may weight training na doon sa new gym, 1 week daw kme muna na puro aero. Sana naman it works! 30 mins lang ako sa treadmill then 20 mins sa bike. Sana tom magising ako ng maaga kse dapat 1 pm pnta ko para konti lang daw ang mga tao.

depends how intense your cardio work out is. meron naman one hour sa treadmill pero ang bagal naman. it takes them 20 mins. to reach their target heartrate to burn fat. so in effect, they only worked out for 40 mins. and not an hour. there are also people who work TOO intensely and exceeds their target heartrate. i always hear people complain about intense cardio programs without results.

theyre doing it wrong.

you have to have a certain heartrate to effectively burn fat. its called "the fat burning zone". read up on it.

Ako din shy mag-gym. Actually meron gym dito sa building na tinitirhan namin pero di ko lang alam kung pano at kung ano ang gagamitin. Nakakahiya.. :D

Meron din naman sa may kanto sa amin (cor. Vito Cruz and Leveriza) Tapat lang ng Rizal Memorial Stadium. Kaya lang dami naman mga Koreans. Baka punta kami ng sister ko bukas to inquire. :)

hey!
last year i enrolled in a gym but i lasted only for about 6 sessions!! :rolleyes:
ang manyak kasi ng instructor ko eh!
tapos yung mga kasabay ko pa mag gym mga matrona, yung tipong mga chismosa pa!
and i hate the owner of the gym and his girlfriend! (who works at the front desk)

sayang, i paid pa naman for 2 months! :mad:

can anyone suggest good gyms, reasonably priced ones? i've gained so much weight since!:(

I rarely go to gym but I love running. Here's what you should do: Bring a Walkman or a CD Player para hindi ka nila madidistract at focused ka lang sa ginagawa mo.

Thanks again guys! fidele try mo sa Body Basic sa Century Hotel sa may HP. P1500 unlimited per month tapos maganda ang facilities atska ang crowd. Try mo yung trainor na si Joel. Doon nga lang ako nagtagal mag gym kse maganda ang ambience atska alaga ka ****. Too bad na dito na ako sa Las Pnas at di na ako nag dodorm. Anyway hindi pa ako nakakbalik sa gym since tues. Pero nag stationary bike naman ako kanina. Sana maisingit ko tom before class. Wish me luck :D :D :D

Ahhh may gym na pala dun. Before kse yung DYR Bldg na yun gnawang parang factory. Yup mas malapit nga yun.;) Di pa din ako nakapag gym kanina pero nag bike ako ngayong midnyt. Sana **** tom maka gym ako.

Ang mahal kaya! Sa Body Basic ka na lang P1500 lang na unlimited. E medyo magkalapit naman e. Pero check mo din baka kaya mahal dahil mas maganda ang facilities. Mag canvass ka muna sayang di ang money.

thanks. :)

ive been a member since april. pero kasi ff-alabang just opened this august. i temporarily enrolled at fitness advantage. i'm back with fitness first now. ok naman so far, pero parang mas nice sa libis. sobrang dami kasi ng tao lalo sa gabi. siguro kasi besides fitness advantage, which has astronomical rates, fitness first lang ang matinong gym dito sa south.

oh ok.. ive been to fitness first once.. in libis. ang daming tao nga pag gabi. siguro mas ok if you go during non-rush hour.. i dont really like working out in a crowded gym. i used to work-out (long long time ago) at 6-7am.

galit sa panget? hmm paano naman kami? :(

Mahal nga masyado sa fitness advantage. Tapos pag yung cheap lang na program kinuha mo you have to use it during off peak hours. Atska kala ko malaki yung place maliit lang pala. Ok ba yung Fitness First kahit madaming tao sa Alabang. Nagopen na pala sya. Ok ba yung mga trainers and other stuff?

personally, parang di ko feel masyado trainers ng fitness first. for one, their bodies are... hmmm... average, and that's me being generous. so parang credibility-wise (if judging from the physical), parang wala na. second, parang unsure pa din sila sa mga sarili nila. they don't seem to have a good enough training for them to be confident (or at least for them to look confident) with what they're saying. third, unless you pay them for their personal training sessions, good luck ka na lang kung mali mali ginagawa mo.

i would have to agree with you. i used to work out dun, medyo la nga pakialam yung mga trainers dun. and yung program, which the girl gave me, walang kwenta.... tapos when i asked the guy to make me another one, pinasa lang ako sa iba!

i was that way at first. but who cares?

it's funny nga when i started out, i was so lame hehe. i started out with a personal trainer. my 1st session with her was embarassingly memorable hehe. ok, ok. i've been out of shape and haven't really been working out and she was testing my cardio and strength. well, for all i know, i felt stupid and lame but i didn't care. but... i decided to pull out from the training program because i just wasn't prepared. it was too intense for me. i felt i wasn't enjoying and most likely, i won't be motivated to go to the gym. so i just do my own routines at my own pace, attend aero classes when i have time.

bea19, if i were you, just go. you've got to start somewhere. :)

Thanks talaga for the support! Ngayon nga sa house muna ako nag eexercise and nag bibike kse lakas lge ng ulan atska midterms ko e. Parang na realize ko na pwede rin naman akong mag exercise kahit hndi sa gym dba. After talaga ng midterms may nakuha na akong kasabay.heheh hope it works

hey girl! good luck sa pag-exercise...ganyan din kasi me nung una...pero pag tagal kasi pag napapansin na nila na pumapayat ka na sobrang satisfying yung feeling kasi alam mo na worth it yung pawis na binubuhos mo!! yun lang hehehe;)

Hello guys.. ako 10 months na akong nag ggym .. syempre at first nakakahiya lalo na kung ikaw lang ang malaki sa group pero ako kinapalan ko na ang mukha ka as in heavy ako pero and inisip ko di naman sila ang nagbabayad ng pang gym ko kaya bakit ako mahihiya eh pare pareho lang kami.. di nagtagal I gain more friends and lose weight .. heheheh .. masarap ang feeling ng maraming nakakapansin na pumayat na ako di naman talagang payat pero at least I have lose 28 lbs na.. oh diba .. a big improvement..

Hey thanks:-),, well aside sa pag ggym syempre diet din, walang red meat puro white meat lang and wala prito kung meron man prito sa Olive oil ( kaso mahal) .. saka fruit shake, wheat bread saka ako di ako kumakain ng Rice.. kakain man pero 2 subo lang .. Discipline din .. kailangang magsarifice pero worth it naman diba..

Wish ko lang! hehheheh Actually mga 3x a day lang ako nakakain kse I wake up nga mga 2 pm na so yun ang first meal ko. Iniba ko na ngayon ang schedule ko. i sleep at 9am then I wake up at 5pm.hehhehe

Hello sayo.. well wag mong papabayaang wala kang kinakain.. its okay na kumain dont starve yourself kasi pag ginugutom mo ang sarili mo kakain ka lalo ng marami make sure na kakain ka ng breakfast kasi importante pero watch what you eat dapat healthy din and suggest ko sayo kain ka ng Pears and drink a lot of water ( try nesvita din) .. and wag masyadong mahaba tulog nakakataba din ang sobrang tulog lalo kang lolobo.. hehehe.. just PM me if you would like to ask me anything..

Upper Body Exercises:

Standard Push-Up

1. Begin in the "front leaning rest" position. Feet are held togetherm supported by the toes on the ground. THe legs are held straight and even with the back. The hnads are placed palms down, fingers forward, with the spacing of the hands being slightly greater then shoulder-width (sufficient to clear the sides of the chest). The head is held up with the eyes looking forward.

2. Lower your body to the floor by bending the elbows and rotating the shoulders. Keep the legs and back straight during all phases of the exercise. Stop Lowering your body when your chest lightly touches the floor ;) (Count 1)

3. Push the upper body back up to the starting position with a smooth motion, keeping the legs and back straight.

Warning: Do not bend back or raise the buttocks during the exercise. ALso do not hang the waist down while supporting the upper body with the arms. Few injuries can result from the execution of a standard push-up done with toes resting on the ground. Raising the feet on a taller rest increases the chances of muscle strain or slipping and striking to the ground.

Standard Sit-Up

1. Lying flat on the back, flex the knees at a 45-degree angle. The feet are held flat to the floor and close together. The arms are crossed on the chest, hands underneath the armpits, and the elbows close to the body. Keep the head held straight and the eyes looking forward thourought the movements.

Note If the legs lift during the exercise, place the feet underneath a heavy object such as a piece of furniture. If such an object is not available, extend the legs out to a 90-degree angle at the knees and continue.

2. Lift the upper body smoothly to the sitting position without putting the elbows forward from either arm position. Roll the spine up to a sitting position by pulling the weight up with the abdominal muscles/ Stop when the forearms touch the knees or thighs. (Count1)

3. Lower the upperbody back to the strating position in a slow, controlled movement. (Count 2)

Warnings
This exercise puts the lower back at a high risk of injury. Keep the movement smooth and controlled, maintaining a rounded countour to the lower back through the full range of motions. Do not clasp the hands behind the neck or head as this may cause neck injuries by forcing the head too far forward.

nagkasakit ako for 2 weeks kaya di ako makapag gym. Mali daw kse yung pag kain ko kaya naging acidic ako. Minsan sa kaka aral 2x a day lang ako nakakkain. E nakaktaba daw yung ganon. ;(

don't worry about the other people in the gym. Go there and get fit. At the end of the day, you're the only one who will reap the rewards and you have to want it to get it.

baka FITNESS ADVANTAGE?

don't know exactly ang rates for that specific branch pero yung FA sa Alabang, 4350 ang aero and gym nila.

thanks for the support guys!!! Inaayos ko na nga ang diet ko by choosing the foods I eat atska algeng inihaw na lang at fish. Mas enjoy kse ako sa badminton kaysa mag gym e.
