One of the biggest rules of every business -- location, location, location -- The choice depends on where you would like to put up your business. But personally, I prefer Dairy Queen, for as long as it is in a dense office area. High margins kasi compared to the other ones you listed.

I don't think Starbuck's franchises. One family owns the stores here in the Philippines.

Do u have any idea on how to get in touch with these franchising companies? Like Potato Corner? How much do you think is the fee? :)

I agree with nix, Dairy Queen would be better but it should be in a good location as you know, franchising is not a joke, it costs you a lot you know, a better thing is to mix franchise, dairy queen and starbucks if possible...

i know it is not a joke...it costs money talaga...kaya i want to franchise something worth my money na hindi mawawala sa uso in the long run....
jerome: starbucks d daw nagpapafranchise e...pero sure na ako na haagen daz oo...pero grabe..nakita ko yung price e...medyo 6m lang naman...haayyy..kakahimatay isipin...mag mimister donut nalang nga ako...
BadGirl ...
Give me a general idea of where you plan to locate your franchise and maybe I can give you some inputs. I suspect though that you don't have a particular place in mind as your choices range from Class A to C Market segment franchises.
I used to work in Mister Donut and I know the owner of Potato Corner so if you've decided on them, I can give you some advice and I could also hook you up with the necessary people.

ummm...gusto ko kasi ng haagen dazs e...nag fax na ako sa haagen dazs franchise development... wala pang response e...pero gusto ko sana ilagay yun sa robinson's place....ummm...sa tingin ko market ko mga doctors, students, etc and etc.... kasi d ba since patok naman ang starbucks, friday's, outback and italianni's..why not haagen dazs... dba? so *** do u think ppl?
tapos yung mister donut...mother ko ang saksakan ng kulit na mag franchise noon...kasi there's this talipapa somewhere near our place...tapos may dunkin donuts na doon...and then gusto ng mother ko na mag franchise ng mister donut.... teka..mabenta ba ang mister donut?????
but really
i remember one of my barkadas a few back, he was thinking that one of the bext industry or business to go into was to put up our own funeral parlor. just imagine ur customers...there are lots of people dying everyday. they may need some services or casket and so on and so forth! the opportunity is there..yun lang nga...we're talking aobut squeezing money from the dead!
hehehe
pero i still think its a good business, kamats...we shall talk about this soon!

Badgirl: lugi ata ang Mister Donuts eh, the only outlet na I really see na kumikita eh yung sa Valero, Makati...
MO: Definitely it is a good business proposition, hindi tayo nauubusan ng patay lalo na PNP Chief na si Lacson...
and location will never be an issue
as long as we have big parking lots
puede na yon!

BadGiRL : I've observed all your posts and those of other members on the subject of franchising; as such, I had just a few comments to make. Speaking from the experience of some of my associates, I must warn you that franchising is not as simple of an endeavour as it may appear. Sure one always hears about the success stories but what about all the franchisees that got "shafted" by greedy franchisors. Of course, I do not know you and do not want to appear condescending but as applies in most business ventures you must abide by the principle of CAVEAT EMPTOR; simply put, buyer beware. Because one thing for sure, it is the FRANCHISOR who is really making the money... sometimes, the franchisee. I am curious to know whether you have ever even read a bona fide FRANCHISING AGREEMENT listing all the rules, regulations and obligations of both the franchisor and franchisee. Trust me, it can sometimes be as thick as a New York city telephone book. In the end, it is one thing to have the money and location but another to have what it takes to make the business itself work.
Sincerely yours,
A concerned observer...

Well, I think that it's understood that before you enter any kind of business, franchising or your own start-up, a great level of research must be done to evaluate the entire proposition. Know your business before you start it. Because trust me, so many things will come up that you never would never have been able to anticipate.
The best money still comes from starting your own business and then franchising it later on.

BadGiRL: Oops! Masyado na bang ambisyoso? Akala ko sky's the limit...hehehe :) Gas station...diba mga P 3M lang yon...pero wala pa don yung construction at lupa...hindi pa rin pala pwede...
Why don't you focus on a certain sector/category that you'd be interested in investing in? Like, are you comfortable with handling a food business? Then, you might want to narrow your choices down. That way, you won't be thinking about a lot of different possibilities.

gwenni: gasoline stations are not profitable nowadays. especially after the government decided to deregulate the oil business. according to the articles that came out in the inquirer, most of the dealers/franchise holders are not earning money. only the "big three" companies (petron, shell & caltex) are making money.

In another thread (http://www.pinoyexchange.com/Forum6/HTML/000020.html), KuyaDanny posted the following data taken from the 1999 annual report of Philippine Seven Corporation:
Growth in quarter-on-quarter same store sales, 1999.
Quarter 7-Eleven Jollibee Greenwich
1Q99 -0.72% -5.3% -5.2%
2Q99 -4.3% -11.7% -20.7%
3Q99 -6.4% -9.8% -22.1%
4Q99 -2.2% -14.8%
This shows me that while 7-Eleven stores were adversely affected by the bad business climate last year, Jollibee and Greenwich suffered much worse than 7-Eleven did. This was an important finding for me, so I got hold of a copy of the Philippine Seven annual report, read it, and did a little pencil pushing of my own:
7-Eleven Stores per Million People (as of End 1999)
102.1 Taiwan
63.7 Japan
36.3 Singapore
21.7 Thailand
19.9 United States
17.1 Canada
7.2 Malaysia
2.8 Mexico
2.1 Philippines
The above table was compiled from data in the annual report, and country population data taken from a world almanac and book of facts.
This leads me to conclude that this franchise has yet to reach its potential in this country.
