Maybe competition from PS, ETelecare and other new customer service companies?
CtrlAltDel
Jul 28, 2000, 11:40 AM
Yes... i think they are leaving Sykes because of PS and eTelecare. they are direct competitors. but which is really better?
PS and eTelecare are both start up companies but in customer service. but they specialize in different areas. from what i've heard PS takes only email and web-chat.
eTelecare has those two and the voice, CTI and CRM and several more.
So which is better? i guess it really depends on the person. and which is more convenient for him. PS is located in Makati. eTelcare is located in Libis.

I got accepted in Sykes, E-telecare and People's Support as well as BPI Call Center.
All are the same fields...Let me tell you about the salaries.
Sykes - P8000.00 starting for 2 months tapos increases depending on performance
Etelecare - P13000.00 starting
People's Support - P12000.00 starting
BPI - P11500.00 starting and increases after a year
All of them handle consumer complaints, product information and so forth...Deals with telephone and emails.
Personally, I can't stand the fact listening to people complain on the phone or even spend several hours on the phone as well as being nicey-nice to the rudest of people. So I decided not to accept any of them and travel...
E-telecare sucks because you have to be a slave to Americans. You even have to take a course to develop an American Accent.
Sykes gives a very low salary and compensation benefits for the work and they are late in salary increases which they allegedly promise.
People's Support tries to hard to get a majority CS grads from Ateneo, LaSalle and UP which I don't think CS grads would settle for a salary that low.
BPI will make you a bank slave but the training daw is good. But you know that banks have the most cutomer complaints.
You be the judge.

i also came from sykes... i think the real reason that people leave sykes is not really because of the pay... its probably because of the nature of the job... lets face it, a customer service job really is not gonna get you anywhere especially if you finished a technical course... you just answer email all day, wala talagang career growth... even if you become a team leader, ganun pa rin, you still answer email... i felt like i was a new grad when i was applying for other companies... ano naman lalagay ko sa resume ko... proficient in i.e., excel and outlook2000, di ba??
as for the people there... jologs ba?? they're great nga eh... super friendly ng ppl... even BC and BK are okay, you just have to get know them...

I believe every person has his/her reason why he/she leaves a company. It may be the salary, better opportunities or other personal reasons. Come on, most of the service-oriented companies have high turnover
rates compared with other companies. Sykes is not an exception.
As for people who are working at Sykes, I find it a pity for a Sykes employee to call his/her co-workers "jologs" or "skwating" for the simple reason that he/she is with the company and yet he/she manages to befriend them, talk to them and even help them out with simple inquiries and concerns that they may have regarding e-mails. Aren't you backstabbing your own colleagues? Why don't you just leave the company and find another job? If you really can't stand the people, then I would suggest that you leave. Oh yeah, I'm with Sykes too but I don't think the people are "jologs" or "skwating" because they are not graduates of DLSU, ADMU, CRC, UP or UST.

people are not leaving sykes ok..grabe kayo talaga...and to think na ang iba sa inyo galing doon...i wonder what your employers would say pag nalaman na ganyan kayo kung manlait ng company na pinanggalingan nyo...be careful guys or you might end up on the streets

Skwater ba talaga?
:bleh:

nag-apply ako sa Sykes as Customer Serv. Representative (Acctg) through Jobstreet, pero hanggang ngayon hindi pa vini-view *** application ko. Ano kaya punta na lang ako sa office nila sa Ortigas?
Sykes is expanding, and they now have an office in Makati at JG Summit Bldg. Maybe the salary will get better.

4 months ago Sykes offered me 25K/mo. I have 2 yrs IT exp. But it is still a far cry from the 8k range posted. How accurate are those figures?

It really depends on what position is offered to you. If you just qualify for the entry level then you would be getting the salary range mentioned above. If you are getting more than that in the offer sheet then you have expertise and they will put you in the clients that would really need your talent.
I worked for call centers for almost two years. Now, I am doing something else.

wag naman po nating lahatin na walang growth sa customer support job. baka gusto mo idelimit -- you mean call centers. Im into Customer Service pero di kami call center. Dedicated kami. exclusive kami sa aming company and my pay is really good. My company sponsors trips, gives out good incentives, supports you, has plans for your growth and gives bongang teambuildng-all expense paid & i just got promoted. There's benefits. Patayan nga lang sa OT. Pero bayad yun.
Para sa iba:Tsaka, what's wrong with the 'jologs' aren't you one? walang hindi 'jologs' dito sa 3rd World, yun lang mga monied clans- mga talagang mapera simula pa noon. silang ang hindi. so quit pretending. Napakajudgmental ng dating...

i also used to work in Sykes. i resigned because of the account that im handling and not because of the company. i used to handle one of the top ISPs in the US. and their service really sucks!!! imagine the server going down for almost a week. and then you get to tell the customers that everything would be fine in 1-2 days? and then on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th day down pa rin yung server?!? then what do you expect the customers would say? syempre puro mura. some are saying na "sorry for the curse but it's not you, it's the company!"
yun lang. di ko masikmura na minumura ko nang hindi ko naman kasalanan. it was 80% emotional stress and 20% physical stress. but in fairness, i had a good compensation. not 8 thou as mentioned by someone above. my initial was more than 10 lower than 15. and okay yung mga benefits nila. sobrang ok yung benefits!
pero it's still not the money, its the satisfaction and pride you get from work. and yun yung hindi ko na-experience during my stay with them.

HI! My friend got accepted as financial advisor since April 8 pa. Magulo daw yung schedule nila as kung kailan aalis, second batch kasi sya. She said, the original schedule was last week of April, but up until now, they've been loaded with a lot of tests. Starting pay, 11000+ for financial advisor, 750 ang meal allowance/mo.

I'm from SYKES before. Nakahiya to sabihin but I was fired because of my lates. They are strict with that. I really miss my former account manager na si BC. Sobra bait! I mean he really helped me cover up my lates until the stupid slut HR manager finds out. I really hate her!!!!! But if I could turn back the time, I would try to correct my lates, but the pass is pass na. I then worked for etel, but let me tell you guys this, I really don't like the compensation given to me at etel. Although it's P1,000 higher than SYKES but I wasn't given a fair salary. My team mates are all getting higher pay than me just because they are college grad. SH*T! But my language proficiency is better than my team mates, they really speak so barok and yet they get a higher pay. They didn't even pass the language profiency test, but since the position need to be filled right away, na hired sila. Anyways, I wasn't happy with etel, sobra na miss ko yun SYKES. Then my TL sa etel went back to SYKES and things just get so complicated! Lately I heard na some accounts of etel napunta sa SYKES. hmmm.... like the financial adviser and malapit na mapunta sa sykes yun iba pang account ng etel. and that's the reason why hindi maka expand ang etel.
Regarding the reason why some agents is leaving, I guess it's because boring yun work na email support. SYKES has a lot of good accounts, malas lang talaga if you are in the email support kasi it's so freaking boring!
Lastly, I think SYKES is one of the best call center here in the Phils. They have lots of good accounts and good pay naman kahit lesser lang sila kunti compare sa etel and PS.
Peace!

err..
di kaya past is past...instead of pass is pass?
di ba salary depends on the position??
ako naman...
nagapply ako sa sykes...
though i m currently employed..and the current co. is paying me 30,000
gross
however, we werent able to secure a contract with US client
so .im kinda disappointed..and of course the company is having budget problems..so they gave us option to stay and get a diff. project or look for other jobs...but we can return anytime :)
i applied for multilingual macromedia support
25,000 daw..im not sure...
have to wait for their call and interview :)
i dunno how much you get for answering emails
but i knew that multilingual support gets
13,000 for mandarin
16,000 cantonese??
im not sure
i heard from a friend of mine who works for sykes
he gets 32,000 for mandarin, cantonese and english support
PrEttyD0LL
Sep 13, 2002, 08:54 AM
hehe...sorry sa typo error.. :)
um.... yun salary for multilingual is somewhat ganon before but dunno right now. Mandarin speaking is easier to find than cantonese speaking. So if you can speak both the language then the offer is higher. Regarding the email support, the salary is lower coz u don't need much brain there, yun ang sabi ng one of my friend. All you do is analyze the question and look up the answer at one of their ready made "solutions database". Then copy paste it to the email. Meron pa sila quota and you can't talk much during working hours. So it's you and the computer in front of you. Kinda boring, right? I guess that's why most of the email supports wants to leave sykes. Of course the second reason is they get paid less than phone support. :)
