View Full Version : [Merged] What do you think about your BOSS?

for all you working people out there... tell us what you love or hate about your boss! i'm leaning more towards 'hate' but hell if anyone likes his or her boss, feel free to tell us about it!
it doesn't necessarily have to be about your immediate boss; it could be several ranks higher up the ladder from you... just tell us what you love/hate about him/her/it!
dont shy!
=P
Wow Peps, it looks like you have a very good management team there. What company do you work for?

peps ur no funnnn!!!! ur too cheerful for your own good! hehehehehehe...
anyway, some ppl have all the luck at work, i guess...
here's my list of why i dont like our boss (peps u probably know this already):
1. he has the IQ of a piece of really used bubblegum stuck under your shoe.
2. he likes antagonizing everyone -- staff, clients, and even our contractors. (the contractors we hired to fix up our new office when we finally moved are all angry at our boss; we probably wont be able hire them in the future).
3. did i say he had the IQ of...? oh... ok then, he has this smug superiority complex. he's malaysian and the way he talks down at us filipinos, he has this #$%^$@! superiority complex... buti sana kung matalino man lang...
hmmmm... i'm running out of stuff to pick on...
ok, to even things off here's the stuff i actually am getting to like about our boss:
1. he's the best friend of the owner of our company, so when we really need anything, if we can reason out with our boss why we need it, he can tell the owner of our company and we'll get it asap. its the closest thing to getting a genie in a bottle!
2. sometimes he knows he's stupid. i'm not kidding! sometimes he knows when he's in over his head and he trusts his staff (technical minions like me) over technical matters.
3. i can yell at him and get away with it! seriously, when you know youre right, you can fight for it, and yell at him about it, have a really heated discussion about it, but after that, he'll see you're right and everything will be ok. you can still wake up the next day and look forward to still having your job even after you yelled at him...
so, anyone else wanna speak up about their boss? or maybe i'll just read up on Dilbert instead just to know i'm not alone...ehehehehe...

thank heavens my super ***** of a boss resigned a few months ago! it's ironic coz i thought her staff would resign before she did, but God has eyes. Let me tell you about this despicable creature...she's actually prone to screaming fits, and comes to the office each morning with a scowl on her ugly face. she screams not only on her staff, but also on waiters in restaurants, anyone whom she thinks is beneath her! Excuse me, but I think those people act with more refinement than she does! She's sarcastic, mean, arrogant, rude, demented... I could go on and on. She's probably never heard of the word "respect," and a dog probably has more breeding than her! The funny thing is, she loves to scream and throw invectives in english...in BAROK english, i mean! i don't know whether to seethe in anger or to laugh my head off! i always choose the latter, though, and always wish i could say, "Watch your english, please, ma'am! you're getting out of control!" hahahahahahaha!!! Not surprisingly, no subordinate ever stayed more than 2 months with her! there was even a guy who left on his first day of work! tsk, tsk...right now she's in another company, although i don't know for how long! this is a big company, and i don't think people can tolerate her attitude, even if she performs well. good riddance!!

Things I love about my boss? http://www.pinoyexchange.com/thinker.gif http://www.pinoyexchange.com/thinker.gif http://www.pinoyexchange.com/thinker.gif
Well, marami ako niyan, all of them are kind. 1st Boss-he's just like a second father to me, noong una pa lang ako sa trabaho, he tell me everything abt. my job(syempre)in a nice way.
Second Boss-He teach me how to handle problems regarding my work, nire-relate nya pa ang kanyang experience noong siya ang nasa ganoong period ng trabaho. He's really nice.
Third Boss- He's the jolly type ng boss, grabe!!!Super Bait...he treat me as her younger sister. He is down to earth person, you will never notice that HE is on eof the boss because he is really simple. But when you talk to him, you found out na karapat-dapat nga siyang maging boss. Very professional.
I don't want to mention their name baka tumaas pa ang salary ko(justkidding) :)

I can't think of anything hateful to say about them kasi una na, I really love working them kasi super flexible ang hours ako. They know na I'm a full-time student kaya they let me figure out my own work schedule. Tsaka sila yung tipo na you can be friends with, na kahit na super layo ng age difference, they still would treat you as equal.

I just got my first real job about two months ago and I'm working for this Iranian Jew who's such a pest.
Pet Peeve #1: It ticks me off everytime he blames his faults on me such as, he actually has the copy of this certain invoice of this certain customer.
Pet Peeve #2: I hate it when he's not in a good mood for the fact that his shares of stock are down a couple of points! Stupid though since he sold a couple of hundreds shares of Microsoft and AOL!
Pet Peeve #3: He's a hypocrite lyin SOB who says crap about anyone that works for him.

Sana ma-meet ko yang boss mo. Sarap sigurong batukan!
what i love and hate abt my boss:
first: he taught me a lot abt life's ups and downs; kulit nga lang.
second: he showed me my strengths and my weakness, he taught me to focus ahead and let go of the past. I love his frankness and honesty. Didnt hate anything abt him.
third: he challenged me to do my best and gave me lots of room to grow and improve; he showed an example of humility to which i really look up to. didnt hate anything abt him either.

sobrang bait ng mga boss ko! they're still young and they still remember how it feels to be slaving away as mere employees. they understand if sobrang pagod na ako and wala sila problema if I want to take the day off to recharge. tapos as much as possible, they don't want us to stay at the office any more than we have to, kasi gusto nila may buhay din kami outside work eh....kaya kami naman, sometimes kusa kami nag OT and minsan nga overnight pa kami kung kailangan talaga eh.
problema lang is, kamukha ko daw boss ko! UGH! hehehe!

im sorry to say, my boss leaves a lot to be desired. he has his "nice" moments, but sometimes i just hate him.
he is inconsiderate, keeping us at work for
long hours without paying overtime
he is two-faced, so you can never really tell
if he is sincere or not
he does not give his employees benefits,
such as the 15-day sick leave and 15-day
vacation leave as stated in the labor
code
i know, i know...y'all are gonna tell me to quit now...

Our big boss is based in Thailand but his business is here in the Philippines.
What I love about him is that he always brings us pasalubong from Thailand whenever he comes here for a visit. Also, he makes sure that our agents are well taken care of, i.e. our supplies cabinet is stocked with noodles, coffee, creamer, sugar, tissue, etc. :)

madami kasi sila eh but most of our bosses are pretty cool. they treat us well :)
except that they'll never give us a raise... oh well :hopeless:
yup, my bosses are nice... pero may mga FEELING BOSS dito, sila yung mga hate ko!
oh yeah, there's this one guy here na friend ng boss namin... he hangs out here everyday & feeling niya boss siya... as in pinapagalitan niya yung ibang people dito...

I am now teaching in the school where i studied Elementary and High School. My boss was my former teacher :)
When she was my teacher in 2nd grade math, I was so terrified of her. She was so strict and stiff. No once of affection for us. Now that I am working under her (Science Department), I see her WARM side. I am so blessed to have a boss who treats us with genuine care and at the same time who could be very professional. She knows how to motivate us when she sees from our lesson plans (and from her regular observations) that we are quite "creatively challenged"...she knows how to give constructive criticisms without making us feel inadequate and ashamed of ourselves.

Well, he's just the kind of person I would want myself to be in the future. He's one of my role models. Not only does he work hard, he also makes sure people involved learn and benefit from the job. He may be strict but it's just the kind of strictness I would expect from a very honorable man. I learned from him a lot about work and life. :)
I'm kinda sad I'm gonna leave my old job for a new one. But he's also responsible for this newly-found career. Without his continued support and guidance, I wouldn't have been accepted.
Here's to you sir!!!

I had a boss who was in his late 40's to early 50's already who was still hopelessly hung up on graduating from La Salle. Apparently he hasn't achieved anything else worth mentioning.
Imagine an a-s-s-h-o-l-e who would say in so many words:
"Ako nga taga La Salle, hindi na popromote, ikaw pa kaya".
(no offense to Lasallistas; the boss I got after I was liberated from this one was from La Salle -- and he was great).
I had never met a boss so universally hated by all his staff.

I once worked for a company whose board of directors single handedly brought down the company. Dunno if they even had half a brain between them...When I started working there it was already a sinking ship. I was the receptionist and had to face the wrath of all these investors demanding to know where their money was. I had finacial consultants who were polite in asking but you could tell they were seething with anger. It was so bad ppl were threatening to call the media. One guy said he was going to call his lawyer. This cute (executive) guy told me "tell him to join the club". Eventually they started locking the front door and ppl could only get in if they had a pass or an appointment. They were afraid the ppl that lost all this cash would storm the office with a camera crew. Hahahahahahaha! Oh yeah...apparently they were trading while insolvent for a long time which prolly explains why we didn't get paid on time half the time. It wasn't that my bosses themselves were nasty but some of them just didn't know what to do with themselves...I'd tell you guys more (yes there's more) pero mamaya na...Give me some time to calm down....

This came as a shock to me, especially since its my first job. My former boss was a real b***h! Well, at first she wasn't. She was the one who hired me and during our interview, she said she really found me okay. I was elated. I thought I was lucky to be treated this way on my first job interview.
But on my first day, she asked me to do a lot of stuff. I didn't even have time to meet my officemates. I could barely remember the things she asked me to do because they were a lot!
And during the time I was tagging along with her to lunch meetings, she always introduced me a her trainee! I was so furious coz I know that wasn't my job title. So I just allowed her to do that for a while. Then one day, we were at this meeting with a CEO of some company. She asked me something and I just answered it and next thing I knew, we were having a conversation and laughing! Then I remembered I was with my boss. I looked at her and she was so red! I guess she was so mad that our client also discovered that I was not a trainee and threw back the question at my boss. She told my boss, "You said she was a trainee? Di naman pala. You've got a really smart woman here." That blew her top and while we were going back to the office, she kept on reminding about my tasks. I was just smiling.
She's also the type who thinks she's smarter than everyone else. She can't even speak correct English! She always talks in this taglish way that just sounds awfully trying hard! She yells when she can't find the people she's looking for. And most of all, she yells at me even when I'm just in front of her so that everybody can hear how incompetent I am. Then I always reason out. especially when i think I'm right. I know how bad she is, coz no one has stayed with her for more than 3 months! She even yelled at me for not presenting her with the right documents and told me that she can't work with someone like me. I simply said, "okay". And I was at once transferred to somebody else
I've been here for 6 months now and under a new boss. I have never felt so relieved as I am right now. No one is under my former boss. I think the company is now scared to hire someone, coz they leave just as fast as they're hired. She now looks like a old hag, with her hair badly tousled. She does things all by herself. I can't even recognize her voice anymore! Maybe, she'll resign one of these days. Poor boss!:D

1. asks you to plan what you are going to do for 2002...on a weekly basis!:confused2:
2. and asks you to submit these to him/her as a Christmas gift?
do you guys think he/she does not trust his/her staff? :depressed:

mrpathetic and roodypoo:
I wonder if you are talking about the same guy.
There are two issues here:
1) Submission of 2002 goals and his nagging for you to finish them - maybe these goals are overdue? Better get cracking on them, because if you are not clear on what you want to do in 2002, which is only a few weeks away, you might spend most of it wondering.
2) Work-related accomplishments as Christmas gifts - look on the bright side. If you get the goals done and submitted, you not only get part of your work done, might make your boss happy and save money in the process.

I’m an engineer working in the design and construction department of one of the leading company in retail business. I’m handling construction project management for all our branches. I’m enjoying my job and love every challenge. In fact, I kept on attending seminars not only for my own development but also to contribute for our system development. I’m specializing in project construction management. I even bring home my work just to give you a glimpse of how interested I am in my job… all is well… but…
But the problem is my boss. He’s an electrical engineer but somehow he’s lacking in managerial skills. The situation is this: I’m giving my all in bringing system and proper process in bidding, project scheduling, estimating, etc. Sa una he will agree but maya-maya sya din ang kokontra… he’s not a listening boss. Almost all of us in the department hirap sa kanya… and worst, in the end of a project sakin ang blame coz im the one monitoring it. Pero my reason is, if the project didn’t start right, then most probably it will not end right too… Wherein im doing everything to make all things right sa start pero sya din ang gugulo… ang hirap…
Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not after the position. In fact, the way things are going, im having a thought of transferring to other company… pero saying… I love the job… but I hate the boss… at kung sakaling umalis ako kawawa yung maiiwan at yung papalit…
What should I do? How would I deal with this kind of situation? Feeling ko all my effort in work is worthless… at minsan I’m beginning to feel that I’m just being used as an escape goat… please advice… thanks…:( :( :(
