Hey, we've been dealing with why the Filipino won't progress, now let's hear your take on what traits (if any) will help the Filipino shine anywhere.

One thing which I think makes the Filipino what he is (in a positive way) is how he always manages to smile despite all the difficulties facing him.

I once spent a few days with a relocated Aeta family in Nueva Ecija. Despite being uprooted from their ancestral lands, my hosts were very lighthearted and optimistic in narrating their story.

At the office, I've encountered people with financial problems, but who always manage to crack a joke at the end of their story. One person explained by saying, "Pag hindi ka tumawa, mababaliw ka."

Sure, sometimes we Pinoys have been accused of being fatalistic and unfocused in our desires, but it sure beats jumping off a thirty story building, right?

Marunong makisama ang mga Pinoy. This social structure of friends, barkada, etc...make for a very good way of venting one's feelings and frustrations. Kahit binabaha na tayo, nakatawa pa rin!

I would have to agree with Mr. Aragorn that the best feature of the Filipino is his smile. That smile is so powerful. Imagine, we've encountered so many obstacles in our path yet we can still smile through all of the hardships. Also, that smile can make a visitor here in our country so welcome and loved. I can go on and on but that would be boring... =) Basta, to be a Filipino is to know how to smile (wag lang sarcastic ha) :).
