ok ba na business ang video editing?

From the little I know about this industry, there are some major players already and they are having difficulty recovering their investments because there is very little editing which is being done. Both the film and advertising industries (your major markets) are not in the best of shape today.

i put up my own "prod-house" and it seem to be working fine... i get an average to 2 projects a month and the pay is good... my company doesn't only focus on video but also in audio production, 3d animation/modeling, web design and graphic design...

i usually hire free lancers if the workload is too much for us... :)

KSe yung mga ibang courses aside from MasCom kailangan nila magpa edit for school presentations. So I guess start small lang kse mahrap kalabanin ang Roadrunner Network when it comes to digital editing. Pm me if you have any more queries. ;)

....binalak na rin namin yan dati...me and my freinds here in pex....but the problem is....ako lang yung marunong....and besides mahirap ata yung work mo eh kapareho pa ng business mo....kaya unfortunately nde sha natuloy.....but if u have the resources....go ahead....pero dapat small scale lang...kase kung lalaban ka sa mga big boys like optima, video post, unitel at kung anu ano pa....eh siguradong malulugi ka lang....

ano meron sa optima, video post, unitel....? mas mahal machines nila?

Bea19
Sep 4, 2002, 12:09 PM
It's not in the machine but sa software. Some of them use Avid like in Roadrunner at yung quality kse pang media talaga. They cost around P1200 and up kse nga commercial quality. yung mga pang schools lang they use Adobe or other softwares na mas madali. Yang mga ganyan aroundP350 -P400 per hour lang.

..not just softwares....same as the machines....like quantel and many more.... and they cost around P2000 to P3000 per hour....kase those machines really cost a lot....around 10M to 15M....hehehehe

kung mura at affordable din gamit mo, what will stop the others from jumping in and do the same? wala kang advantage on this one.

....shempre talo ka kung marami kang kalaban within the area....kaya kailangan ng masusing pagaaral sa lugar na iyong paglalabyan ng business mo....but if and if you really have the guts, manpower and the money, of course, go ahead at makipagsabayan ka sa mga big boys....kase with the company am working with now.....medyo nahihirapan kami.....thats why the company is investing so much on the equipments and softwares....para at least man lang eh hindi ganun ka layo ang agwat nung company namin sa ibang naglalakihang company....kailangan lagi kang updated both on softwares and hardwares...kundi mapagiiwanan ka.....but to tell you frankly...a around 4-5 tvc per month....sobrang buhay na yung company mo....

Btw, ang thesis ko kse film editing atska film editors kaya pihikan talaga ako when I choose editors for my school projects.

it's a good business if you target areas that don't have editing houses already. for example, in Cavite they just opened one in Bacoor, but that's still far from places like DLSU-Dasma. open an outfit in places like that :)

Bea19

Yah Cavite is a good place to start since konti pa lang yta dun e.

zschownhe
Sep 11, 2002, 11:06 AM
....naku mahirap na usapan yang salaray...pero kung small sclae lang nga eh di mag usap na lang kayo sa salary....kase ang alam ko kung freelance ka....depende dun sa laki ng budget nung project yung salary....or pwede kang humingi ng asking price...hehehehehehe....pero ang alam ko 1k to 2k per session ang mga editors sa labas eh....am not really sure....kase salary eh pang in house...so fixed price...

how much start-up capital do you have and how much are you willing to spend for gears and eqpt? that will set your market too. if low end lang gamit mo.. sympre, low end din presyo mo diba? but what will make you stand out from the others kung they could afford the same eqpt and software (assuming offline edit ka)? eh di sa skills and PR..

eh these days, madali na rin yun skills. PR yun pinaka importante.. also, mahirap yun if you just going to wait for walk-in clients..

so what have you done so far for this pet project of yours? tuloy ba or pang pex lang?

Sep 12, 2002, 07:46 AM
....well sa ngayon kase ang labanan sa big scale post house eh equipment....well kung low budget ka naman eh kailangan mo ng PR....saka shempre editors at the same time can do graphics as well ang kailangan mo editing chuva mo....kase dun yun yung magiging sukatan ng client mo....ska mas tipid ka dahil yung ibang editors kase talagang edit lang ang alam...simpleng cut and dissolve....pero syempre kung medyo artistic yung editor eh medyo lalagyan nya yan ng konting landi.....and oo nga pala kailangan mei good sense of music din....minsan kase kahit pangit yung project kung maganda yung scoring....nadadala na yung project....tips yan hehehehehehe.....

....so good luck seio....kung mei maitutulong kami sabihin mo lang.....

E yung ibang bagay naman like TV, VHS and other stuff meron naman **** sa hse.
Ang alam kong bayad sa editors yung small-scale lang is monthly salary with over time pay. Kse per hour ang editing fee is P350 tapos pag 8pm and above umabot P400 per hour na.

i think the business is good, there are a lot of colleges and universities who are in need of "cheap" editing houses.

My suggestion is when you launch it, have flyers made and placed in the school bulletin boards specially in the advertising and communication departments.

Regarding the editor's salary:
My friends who are in the editing business have monthly salaries of around P10,000 - P15,000 and if they are the ones assigned to the project, they get 20% of the amount paid per project.

i was told a few years back, the sale ladies of linea gets a starting of 15k tapos 15% commish..

yun nga lang, you have to be tall, slim and got nice legs to go with the micro mini :D

Bea19
