Hope maker sees no hope for RP, blames politics...

My two-cents: From the eyes of the taipan himself... from the eyes of someone who made money from politics... Is there really no hope? Or should we just believe in ourselves and hope that our faith will "rub-off" to our fellowmen... but somehow I have to at least keep that "last seed of hope" that we as a nation will prosper............
But then again, maybe not in my lifetime...

Perhaps the taipan may be speaking only for himself and those like him who have chosen to play partisan politics and therefore reap larger payoffs when they back the right horse. Unfortunately, some other horses are crossing the finish line first nowadays.
More prudent businessmen will spread their bets and not antagonize any one side too much so that there is a payoff for them no matter who is in power.
There are more basic questions which need to be asked. Are their businesses structured so that political favors are necessary for success? Could it be better to choose businesses which are less dependent on the connections? That way, instead of asking politicians to deliver the goodies, one can implore them instead to stay out of the way.

That's his opinion.
Wait till the Marcos Babies take the helm and the children of OFW's grow up. The hope of this nation lies not in it's politics but it's Citizenry.
Nuff said.

IMHO, he does have some point that are valid but I find it funny that someone who was not above using politics to further himself would deplore its overimportance.

Look who's talking. Such a billionaire loser (losing attitude I mean). Alis na lang siya ng bansa. Mas kailangan natin ng OFWs. IMO, that Tan guy is bad for the country. Wasn't he in cahoots with Erap and Marcos? He's partly responsible for bleeding this country dry. Asa pa syang nasa langit siya sa 2102. Magsama na lang sila ni Apo

I believe he should have not said that, coz it will create fear among other investors and will affect their thought or impression about our country. The filipinos will suffer in the end.
I understand some of the sentiments of the people againts El Kapitan. but hey, he can divert all of his businesses outside of our country, the question is what will happen to his thousands of employees? 3-4 years ago when PAL was suffering financial crisis, Kapitan thought of permanently closing and selling his interests in PAL, but he choose not to because of the people and family that depends on PAL for a living. Bago sana tayo bumatikos, tignan muna natin ang ating sarili. Can we provide jobs (thousands) to our countrymen like what Kapitan biz is doing? for the mean time habang wala e SHOT UP tayo.
Sure we cannot have perfect person. Lahat tayo may flow. I think Kapitan is more FILIPINO than most of us. Kasi lahat tayo may crab mentality, tapos we want to rich..... Unless we can surpass the bank accounts of these tycoons, as I said SHOT UP lang tayo. They can talk kasi they've been there.
Guys, Lets work together na lang and uplift the economic condition of this country like what the tycoons are doing. :)

It all boils down to making this country conducive for doing business not just for foreign investors but for local businessmen as well. Lotsa lawyers, politicians and tong collectors make it much more difficult. I've even some laws passed in congress that were intended to block competition and some go into business and granted permit unaware of such laws and close down after a court case is filed against them that lets them know of such law's existence. That's why many people would rather work abroad than start their own business here. It's more of who you know and not what you know in business.

you can't blame the politicians, they are just the most visible symptoms of society. I think we can break out of the cycle of patronage politics, but we have to start now. when our politicians and business leaders are from the "PEx Generation," say 20 years from now, who will we blame? we have to snap out of it ourselves by doing and not just talking (or posting).
nevertheless, the statement coming from Mr. Tan appears to me like the pot calling the kettle black.

Well said, all of you!
I just hope that many more Filipinos would be like you.
Let's just drop the pessimistic attitude and start to work on building our economy in anyway we can.
