Kung personally recruited, I think yes. Remember, wherever the boss goes, she goes. Pero kung company naman ang nagshoshoulder ng responsibility/nag-hire eh meron pa dapat silang option sa kanya.

Depends on the contract, as has been said above. There are co-terminus appointments - these people leave when the boss leaves. There are regular appointments - these people get to keep their jobs. The problem with regular appointments is that an "acceptable" new boss is not always readily available, so the secretary may have to float around for a while.

It is either transfer to another department or wait for the new boss.

Just wanted to share a similar real life situation...
In my previous company kasi, one of the VPs resigned. And subsequent to his resignation, my former co-workers that were under his department noticed that they were gradually being "phased out". And well I guess through some insider information na rin, I was told that they evidenced some conversations and remarks that confirmed their suspicions.
Bad trip noh? I never imagined that stuff like this actually happened in the corporate world. Kinda an eye-opener for me.
I think it's a strategy employed to ensure loyalty among employees, though I don't know if it's a legal one.
I also doubt that the coterminus condition was mentioned in any of their contracts.
