it usually presents talaga during childhood or early to mid adolescence...
"acquired"... from what I remembered, it is usually a consequence (or a symptom of numerous neuro disorders) of uncontrolled neuronal discharges within the CNS. It can lead to motor convulsions or just a brief period of lack of awareness.

It is possible for any person to develop seizures at any point in his life, be it during infancy, teens, adult or old age. Seizures, whether acquired or congenital, are due to uncontrolled neuronal discharges. Possible causes for teen-onset seizures would be post-trauma, metabolic, blood vessel malformations, or, least likely, tumors.

another related question, what do you call that test/exam that one has to undergo to know kung bakit siya nagsi-seizures? yun bang first exam you have to undergo to see what's causing it. (hmm, redundant ata 2 questions ko, hehe)
how long does it take? a few minutes? a day? need confinement? anong process yon? blood test lang? o urine sample?
ano rin ang first aid na ginagawa para sa mga nag-uumpisa pa lang magshow ng symptoms? ano popular gamot for this? thanks so much in advance!!!

yung test, exam na sinasabi mo, eeg. electro-encephalogram. tama ba spelling? basta, yun yung test na may blinkling lights, as in mabilis magblin, tapos maraming nakakabit na sensor sa ulo mo na nagrerecord ng brainwaves. tapos nga pala, pinapapikit-bukas yung mata mo habang ginagawa yung test.
nung nakitang negative, at para maka-sure, i took a CAT Scan sa USTe. ANLAKI talaga nung needle.
yung medications, PHENOBARBITAL everyday for four years (magmula nung freshman ako tapos tumigil nung senior na ako). tapos regular check-up every three months.
yung first aid, kung meron man, hindi ko alam DAHIL WALA AKONG MAALALA HABANG NANGYAYARI YUNG SEIZURES KO. buti na lang at twice lang ako nagkaseizure.
thank God, wala na akong epilepsy. thanks, doctor gamez ng ust hospital! rest in peace, man. (tigok na siya e):)

'yung sa case ng sister ko, until now continuous yung take-up nya ng medicine. Once she forgot to take the prescribe medicine nagsiseizure sya. Pag night, as in habang natutulog, saka siya nagsiseizure. part na ng life nya yung gamot.:(
can you recommend a hospital who specialize in epilepsy.

Yun pala she died of a severe epileptic seizure coz she stopped taking her medication years back. Grabe talaga:(
I have an aunt who's suffering from epilepsy. Lahat kagalit niya; 'cept for me, i think it has something to do with my being the "unang apo" ng lola ko. Simula nung bata pa siya meron na siyang epilepsy; kasi ang kuwento sa kin ng dad ko (kapatid niya yun), when my lola was pregnant with her, nahulog yung lola ko sa stairs, so nainjure yung tita ko when she was still in my lola's womb. Kaya ayan hanggang ngayon she's still taking phenobarbital tapos meron din siyan tecretol. Hopefully she's still taking her medicine kasi she hasn't gone home in a week. Di niya kasi totally makasundo yung uncle ko (kapatid din niya), his family plus their helpers. She tends to become violent sometimes with people she despises, for no apparent reason. Kaya we just let her be, i.e. she comes & goes as she pleases. Hope she's safe though.
It's good to know that you're cured:D i have a friend who has epilepsy too.

I've heard of that too! Nagkaroon pa nga ng study sa Japan which looked into the link between computer games and epilepsy. It would seem na lots of parents in Japan reported seizures amongst their kids who spent hours & hours in front of the tube playing video games. Kaya siguro nagkaroon ng mga ganyang advisories regarding too much video games:D
