i was able to watch f! also. the gym was pinnacle in quezon city.
but i think what is offered there is only the aerobics. the "cardio strip tease aerobics" is just being done and taught by nilda (the one who angel aquino interviewed). she's our aerobics instructor also in one of the gyms here in quezon city. she's magaling, i lreally like her. i actually don't attend classes when she's not the one facilitating or she's absent. the thing is, she does a lot of different techniques. high-low & bench for aerobics, taebo and even salsa-cool!!!
i'll try to look for the number of the gym featured in f! or **** tanong mo nlng sa pldt directory- i'll also ty to search for gyms who offer those classes - im actually interested also e. post ko po ** pag may results na.:)

We've taught it before....but probably won't be doing it again for awhile in Malate.
We'll have it at our Shaw branch if enough people want it.....but this won't be until about mid-January when we open there.

Not enough girls showed up on a consistant basis to justify a class. One day the class is full, the next there's 2 people...

how does this differ from the traditional cardio group exercises?

It's just an excuse for a group of people to move around for 45 minutes to 1 hour. It's fun for those who like that sort of thing (not my thing obviously since I'm a silver back gorilla relatively speaking :p ). From watching my female coach teach it and watching the Carmen Electra video, it just looks like a low-impact form of dancing. Again, just mainly to do something other than sit on your butt and watch TV each night at home...a VERY good thing :D

buti nga sana kung me nagworkout using free weights. in my gym alone the fitness population keeps on using the machines without even knowing what's it for. some girls find muscles sticking out on there triceps a bit icky. but it depends on your goal. I've seen a lot of girls doing group classes and ending up eating more. A good example is my mom. My mother decided that she will workout in a gym as in strength training. since this was her first time working out after she got home she went straight to bed complaining of muscles cramps and dizziness and in the end she decided she will stick to badminton because someone told her that she could lose weight. But how on earth could she lose weight after playing badminton with her amigas they always end up eating in some fastfood joint or my mom would bring pasta or whatever home cook meal with all the fats in it. so why bother playing badminton in the first place. you called that an approach!? what girls need is an honest personal trainer that will encourage the fitness population to do strength training and stop taking caffeine and just plain old water. not to mention they need to work their *** off.

Hindi naman siguro lahat ng approach ay katulad ng sa mom mo. Hindi din ibig sabihin na ginagawa yun ng mom mo, ganun na din ang lahat ng nagbabadminton.
What I'm saying is that there's no need to shoot down people because they think differently.

yeah.thanks gasoline
ive been working out since HS. gained and loose weight, done lots of mistakes but eventually learned from them, either through experience /listening to advices.
i am a woman. i do weight tranining. my gym mates also do weight training. ive got a friend who got nice triceps. she doesn't find it icky. i workout at ffrob (right beside the mall's food court btw) but we do not rush outside to eat unhealthy foods after workout.
where do you workout anyway? id like to see you myself =)

sorry i go to gym to workout and not to socialize and to be look at (taray no!)
most of the people that are into the badminton and boxing craze are working class citizens. People who are working there *** off to make a living. so what happens if you play badminton and boxing without strength training you could easily get injured. may i remind you that you are using your legs and arms to play the game. That's why you have to be extra careful but sometimes being careful is not enough that's why strength training is the key.
you must know that badminton and boxing is an olympic sports and people who compete in this sport are what you called ATHLETES!!!. now if you think that badminton is the key to losing weight believe me it's not worth injuring yourselves since you are also overworking your muscles. I'am not shooting down on badminton players as they say BETTER BE SAFE THAN SORRY!!!!

He has a valid point. There are so many injuries in boxing and badminton because weekend warriors decide to take up these activities as a means of getting in shape. More often than not they end up injured. My whole condo is full of people limping around when returning from a badminton game. Many have required surgery. Granted, this is a small sample, but it is disturbing. The gyms that offer badminton are not doing an adequate job in preparing their clients for the huge risks involved when your entire (and usually overweight) body comes crashing down on your sensitive knees, ankles, and the tendons and ligaments that protect them....

I know both of you have valid points. But all I'm saying is that there are better ways of getting your message across. ;)
It looks to me though that your mom played badminton with her friends to bond with them. It must be an activity they wanted to try together. I'm sure they've enjoyed it. Some people may have the same reason for playing badminton like your mother. To socialize or to spend time with their friends.
People just have different approach to things. We don't know if those people who play badminton do strength training as well, maybe they don't. But for me as long as they enjoy it, then I have no reason to say anything to them. I'm sure they will appreciate your advices.
I think you should just bring your mom strength training with you though, it would be better for her if she wants to loose weight.

to bond? not really her goal was to exercise and to lose weight and in the end she had a bond with her badminton amigas. she's not that fat actually she's a workaholic. eh problem she wont listen to me or my sister my sister is a doctor fyi!? it's her loss by the way although she controls what she eats. but not to say that she's healthy. I even think she has TB because of the too much work she exerts at home.

humn seems like to me that you have a personal problem w/ your mom (to tell you, not ALL woman workout the same way as she does so no need to generalize =p)
i'm aware the benefits of strength training as they were emphasized in other threads over & over again.but then, not all people enjoy lifting weights.
if you really really want your mom to loose weight through strength training then i guess you have to convince/demand/bribe her to do that.
bottom line: i am not reacting anything about BADMINTON but w/ your statement na....
"buti nga sana kung me nagworkout using free weights. in my gym alone the fitness population keeps on using the machines without even knowing what's it for. some girls find muscles sticking out on there triceps a bit icky. but it depends on your goal. GETS.?

they should enjoy lifting weights because it will be a lifesaver for them when they grow old and it instills discipline. tell your friends to lift weights you know the benefits. spread around it might save there lives I wish i could do that to the fitness population. pero trabaho ng personal trainer yan tsaka baka sabihin tinatanggalan ko sila ng dilhensya sa 1:1 powerpack nila. mahirap magsalita sa ff marami mata doon. me nagpaparinig pa nga personal trainer kala mo naman nagworkout patpatin naman. besides they should do a lot of research.

Like it or not, lifting weights is of critical importance, or risk spending your last 50 years on this earth....well...I shouldn't say anything.
What I do know is that I have a 71 year old member who can put guys 1/3 his age over his knee and spank the crap out of them if he so desires. I'm not kidding.
Part of the problem with strength training is that most instructors don't have the slightest clue as to how to teach it. We don't exactly have an abundance of experience here in the Philippines, so it's not surprising. But if you want to maintain a pain-free and productive life beyond 35 (especially aches and pains.....and chronic back pain), you had better learn to embrace strength training and/or find a competent instuctor who will teach you how our own love affair with it started.
Everyone I've ever coached loved strength training...since I know how to tailor it to the individual. This is a challenge going out to all trainers. Teach your clients to love the gym, and you'll have loyal members for the rest of their lives...and no need for pencil-neck marketing dummies in suits trying to convince you why you should go to the gym....rah rah rah!

yup don't worry bchemist i'll try out eclipse 1 of these days again. i'll just have to convince 1 of my gym mate to visit again w/me. i went to ur gym a couple of months back in quirino branch ..the 24/7 during off-peak as i remember bet. 2:30-3pm. off peak hours yata so just a few guys were around and the guy ( said he was an assistant coach) we talked to can't seem to answr all our questions well. so i guess we should visit during peak hrs instead.
i must admit that i'm keen on learning abt proper strength training to look & feel good.
are all ur coaches & assistant coaches can do competent coaching?=p if yes, then i have to give a benefit of doubt to the 1 we talked to that maybe he coaches well, just that he doesn't know how to market the gym well. hehehehe=)

Yea...I had to talk to them about their "sales" skills. It's sort of a catch-22 when you want your coaches to be the ones to answer newbie questions (not sales people) and put it in a way that is easily understood by those who have yet to experience what we teach first hand :)
