What could be the problem? After turning on computer (about 10- 20 mins.), the monitor suddenly turns blue and reads: " Error in writing to drive 'C". Data or files maybe lost. Press any key to continue...... After pressing any key, monitor returns to normal but again turns blue after awhile. :(
It there something wrong with the hard disk? or mobo?

definitely its the harddisk, i suggest to do a surface scan... most probably its caused by bad sectors... if problem persists, i recommend that you replace your harddisk.

BLUE SCREEN! BLUE SCREEN! Sorry, got carried away since I see that a lot from friends who gets new machines. :D
There are several problems that will cause this effect. To name a few: (1) as pointed out, HD's with surface problems (ie. bad sector, and/or presence of FAT32 on an NTFS structured HD); (2) bad installation of the OS (check your cables!); (3) bad RAM (at times, generics are affordable but instances of being unreliable); (4) bad power supply (it can cause fried HDs - add salt and pepper if it happens); (5) doing that auto-install of Service Packs from the net (not recommended, it's better to just download the whole thing and install it through Window's "Add Program"); (6) presence of virus (get a hold of an anti-virus program, even if it's crappy PC-Cillin).
In your case, however, it looks like either an OS or HD problem. You can either re-install your OS since there is a "Repair" option, or replace your present hard drive (which is always the easiest but costly solution - unless you have plans for expansion anyway) and do a clean install.
