uhmmm i think customer care represenatives are getting a bigger salary... im not sure about this.. actually it depends din depending on the shift.. malamang pag under ka ng 10-6 shift, for sure laki yun kse sa 20% ND. uhmmm sa convergys alabang, i had taken the recruitment process dun.. 1 day *** ***.. the next day i was asked to come back for the job offer na.. yun bilis.. so il start na this tuesday sa makati for the training..

CCRs at Convergys are also para-recruitment[for lack of a better word] people. They get monetary incentives for every successful referral[which they are suppose to brief] and also for getting them to be regular employees.

......BTW, do you know of anyone that got the incentive from this "Pay it Forward" scheme............I had successful referrals and never got the incentives....I emailed the persons listed as the ones to follow up in case this happens....at first they were helpful, saying they will look into it....but after a few MONTHS, and STILL no payouts, they dont reply anymore when I email them.......hmmmmmmmmm.......Same thing happened to some of my team mates.............Which makes you think.............

are follow up calls for final interview schedule still necessary? although nakalagay sa letter nila na follow up calls are no longer necessary.. pero napapaisip ako, di pa kasi ako tinatawagan for my final interview sched magwa-one week na. i took the exam last week sa Makati but they told me that they'll forward my papers to Ortigas tapos they'll call me for the final interview schedule. gaano katagal bago sila tatawag? aabutin ba ng isang buwan? Katatapos lang ng final interview ko kanina at sabi sa akin na hintayin ko daw yung tawag nila sa Monday, at kung hindi sila tatawag sabi nila na they'll put my application sa active file. Tanong ko lang ibig ba sabihin noon na hindi ako nakapasa sa final interview? Kasi yung ibang natapos sa final interview eh may papel na ibinigay sa kanila, hindi ko lang alam kung ano laman noon, job offer ata. Yung mga nasa Convergys na, paano ba kayo natanggap, pagkatapos ba ng final interview may job offer na agad o sinabihan din kayo na tatawagan after ng deliveration na sinasabi nila? well, im new here and im from cebu. actually i applied last nov 2004 and got 2 d final interview and was placed on the active file cuz i was still studying(just trying it out) and then came graduation time. I came back since i was ignorant of the fact that they have rejected me na pala...since they placed me in the active file. So i came back and all they told me was the'd call me. well that was still last april. well, looking for a job is still not my primary concern now since i am reviewing for my board exam this coming september...and hopely become and engineer.

sori 4 boring u...hehehe...but my question is, in case i apply back.. what advice can u give me to prepare my self again and techniques on how to answer questions ask during the final interview..cuz the last time around...i accidentally saw my score sheet and the recruitment manager checked all field as fair...ell i have 2 balme myself cuz i got so stupid that my voice just shrank and i really don't know much about marketing or customer service...and i'm not taking at this job 4 the money but mainly becuz i want to hone myself in english and to think fast...can anybody here give some help to a very blank cebuano...thanks anyway.

guys, question, kasi my friend was asked to call Convergys before she proceeds with her final interview. Dapat kaninang umaga interview niya kaso lang when she called up, ni re-sched daw yung interview niya tapos she was being asked to submit nbi clearance, transcrtipt, medical exam results, etc.... does it mean anything? medyo sayang kasi if mag pa medical exam siya tapos hindi din naman pala siya makapasa. Honestly kasi, she's broke right now kaya, if ever sayang yung pag pamedical exam niya kung hindi naman pala siya makapasok... :)

Training usually is at Insular Makati,time of training differs...it can either be morning,afternoon, or evening(graveyard)...training is around 8 hrs....my training for the tech acct I handle was 2weeks for american accent and 2 1/2 weeks for the product specific training plus 1 week transition period for the floor....you can get night diff for training...but no holiday OTs because training usually is from mon-fri only and no training during holidays.......training starts and ends on time because you have your own PC to input your time and you should be in/out not a second soon nor a second late......

In the tech acct I handle one can get productivity incentives even during the probationary period

my bf took an exam last week sa enterprise, yun nga pagdating sa typing exam tska sya bumagsak kung kelan 7 na lang sila then he was told na pede ulit sya mag apply after 145 days. kanina he receive a call from convergys ni re-reconsider daw yung exam nya and was ask to take a new exam on saturday. anong exam ulit ang gagawin nya? yung mga ginawa nya previously uulitin lang? nag re-reconsider pala ang convergys noh?

my boyfriend passed the simulation exam held last saturday at their makati office. pina fill-up daw sila ng parang application form and was given a paper saying na they did passed the simulation exam & tatawagan na lang sila for their final interview. tapos pinapili na rin sila kung commonwealth or alabang kasi puno na daw sa makati office.my bf chose alabang, pwede pa ba magpalipat if ever kasi mas malapit sa kanya commonwealth if ever na matangap nga sya

question is, ano yung i e-expect nila sa final interview? and gano katagal bago tumawag for the interview schedule? tska san mas maganda ang working environment? commonwealth or alabang?

about the "not-so-techy issue"... uhm, i didn't mean na yung workload ang simple lang. I mean, ako ang not-so-techy type of person. fyi, masscomm ang course ko,hehehe. mahilig lang ako manglikot ng PC, without knowing the theoretical infos about it (kung meron man). alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi ako ganon kagaling when it comes to computers/tech support jobs. just a newbie here. that's why nagulat ako (& naging proud & natuwa) nang malaman kong i may qualify for the TSR post, kahit CSR lang ina-apply-an ko. Pero mejo kinabahan din ako sa mga binanggit mong "but it turned out na it can even be a lot harder lalo na if customer satisfaction **** ang habol mo" sana makaya ko. excited na talaga ko. gusto ko rin kasi lalo mas matuto about tech./computer stuffs. i guess sobrang dapat galingan ko sa training. i hope i'm not misinterpreted,huhuhu. pero in fairness, inggit na ko sa'yo. i wanna work na sa convergys!!! :D

ask ko lang, i was told in my final interview to have my police clearance ready and that she (my interviewer) will call me after a week. well, it's been a good 1 month since then and still no word from her. been calling/leaving messages and emailaing her - still nothing. i think i passed the interview - she told me i have good diction and above average grammar.

About the BIR form, if you've worked before you have to go to your old RDO (regional district office) and get a clearance. They will give you a 1905 form then have a few people sign it. They will then give you a clearance for transfer. Once you have this, you can now go to the Pasig office and submit it.

They teach more than English in call centers

AMERICANS in general love small talk. Asians do not, but when they do engage in conversation, they "go deep." Filipinos are generally not upfront (They say “yes” when they mean “no”), and often are pushovers or not too assertive.
The scenarios mentioned above are not exactly lessons in Asian culture but observations made by Maria Louisa Ros, Convergys director for global communication and culture training. Convergys is one of the biggest call center operations in the Philippines, employing 5,600 Filipinos.

A former English teacher in Ateneo High School, Ros was quick to debunk misconceptions about the industry, revealing that call center agents are not just taught English as part of its intensive training but also the nuances of the culture of customers they deal with.

“Turnovers are a general problem in any industry. But I think the reason why people quit is that they cannot handle the job. They usually get culture-shocked. This is why we train them to handle situations.

They’re not merely telephone operators. It’s a stressful job and only the best may be able to handle it,” Ros said, adding that the main job of a call center agent is to actually respond to a customer problem in a short period of time.

Filipino agents at Convergys deal with customers from the United States, the United Kingdom, and recently Australia. They have to understand the “context of their customers,” which includes the cultural nuances, idiom and pronunciation, among others. They are also taught how to deal with irate customers, she said.

“It is not really a no-brainer job,” Ros added, reacting to perceptions that call centers offer dead-end jobs.

Having taught English and eventually worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization, Ros said that Convergys teaches call center agents different ways to control conversations, how to listen actively, and even spot a customer’s feelings by merely listening to the tone of their voice.

Unlike regular conversations where non-verbal cues aid in the understanding of what a person is really trying to convey, call center agents are trained to detect customer’s feelings from the tone of their voices alone.

“We teach them to detect sarcasm. But this takes experience. Filipinos usually speak in singsong. Americans talk in a rising-falling tone. Indians usually talk in rising tone. All these you have to understand, while you think of a solution to a problem, making small talk, and typing. So we’re really developing out-doers and out-thinkers,” Ros said.

Convergys call center agents undergo three-week basic training involving language accuracy (grammar, neutralization of accent), comprehension, reasoning, and customer support. Technical training follows for two to ten weeks.

Ros trained in Convergys India after she was hired as senior manager of the communications and culture training of Convergys Philippines. After refining the communications and culture training of the local subsidiary, she was promoted to director for global communication and culture training.

She now leads a 200-strong team of trainers, communication coaches, and managers across 14 sites in India and the Philippines after less than a year in the job. She was also put in charge of the implementation of the refined training program she developed in all call center operations of Convergys.

Convergys eyes Araneta Center as expansion site
Ohio-based call center company Convergys Corp. is considering setting up an office in Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City, one of the emerging business districts in Metro Manila, for call center operations.

"We are still looking at the Cubao location as a possible location for future expansion. However, to date, no space has been reserved," Convergys Philippines vice-president and country manager Marife Zamora said in an interview.

A government source earlier told BusinessWorld that the company has reserved a space in one of the office buildings that is being built inside Araneta Center.

Araneta Properties Inc. is now ramping up the development of Araneta Cyber Center, one of the 13 emerging urban districts in Metro Manila that can add another 1,200 hectares of commercial lands in Metro Manila. Makati, Ortigas, and Binondo business districs have 450 hectares of commercial lands altogether.

Ms. Zamora said Convergys targets to end the year with 8,000 call center seats from present 5,300 seats. "We are pleased with the success and continued growth of our operations in the Philippines. While we cannot disclose investment figures, our commitment to the country remains significant," she said.

Convergys currently operates six call centers in the country, one of which is located in Cebu City in Central Visayas. It is also set to open another site along Ayala Avenue in Makati City by the fourth quarter of this year. It operates a total of 66 call centers worldwide.

Right now, Ms. Zamora said the company is conducting job fairs in Metro Manila and in key cities and provinces in the country, from Baguio City in northern Luzon to Zamboanga City in Western Mindanao.

bpo: alam ko nasunog was the upper floors ng building, 38th yata, kaya di talaga nasunog yung floor ng CVG (24th-28th), but since kailangan i-check ang wiring, alarms and sprinklers kaya nag move ang agents to commonwealth and the offices (acct,HR) to makati but that was around three or four weeks ago, everything back to normal.....

sa mga ortigas tccrs naman......tip lang... learn to go w/ the flow but keep your guard up, support your team and your TLs but, ingat lang these may be the same people who will pull you down, in the long run.....just keep your stats up, para walang masilip sa inyo, although yung iba gagawa at gagawa ng paraan para makakita ng mali sa inyo.....

training is the best part....enjoy nyo yan!!!!

BTW.....10k, 12K , 15K pala ngayon ang referral fee for CSR,TCSR at TL,OMs respectively.......ahahay......sana naman ibigay agad yung referral fee this time......kaya sa mga nag aaply na may nag refer from convergys, humingi kayo ng kalahati pag natanggap kayo!!!!!!

1.Ang natatandaan ko about the ITR eh, sinubmit ko sa BIR Pasig.
2.Kung first time mo kumuha ng NBI clearance kailangan sa Quiapo branch ng NBI, just take the LRT hanggang Carriedo pag baba mo tanong mo lang saan NBI...usually makukuha same day, pero just to be sure allot 2 days...sorry limot ko na rin ang fee, but you can call the NBI office(ganun ginawa ko eh)...kung renewal pwede na sa NBI renewal center sa malls
3.Maski di mo ma secure all employment requirements tuloy pa rin training mo....pero before regularization kailangan kumpleto na, pero I suggest gawin mo na lahat,mahirap na kung pumapasok na eh, I remember natapos ko in 3 days lahat....and galing pa ako paranaque nyan...Nakapagpamedical ka na ba?
4.I remember nag start kami 11th ng month and nakuha namin first paycheck ng 30th of that month....so malamang 15th next month pa first pay mo...so medyo malaki siya..lalo na kung may night diff ka during training...what time ba training nyo?Insular?

He claims to have obtained several test accounts which he is putting up for sale starting at 30-40$. after that will be the program specific training... I had a non tech account so I dunno the process for tech accounts... we had 2 weeks PST I think and then 3 weeks transition...

any how, yesterday was my last day. I had to resign although I *LOVE* the job, especially the people [my officemates and the management... very helpful bunch!] because I will be visiting my relatives in Australia this December and I will be gone for 3 months. An approved leave of absence for 3 months is highly unlikely... so I opted to resign...

if I will come back the next year, there's no doubt that I will reapply in CVG again

are there diff. exams for different positions?
i wanna apply as e-mail support rep sana..but i somehow need to know how difficult the exams are coz i'm not an it grad or whatsoever it is related to tech..but i'm willing to be trained for it if ever..do all exams include knowledge in technical stuff?

CCT pala is hard. I don't know but, i feel like i'm not going to proceed to PST cuz if i always commit mistakes on the proper tense use, then i'll always get a VDSAT! although i can speak english good, i seem to disregard the technical aspects like present simple, present continous and others. I just base if it is nice to hear.

Haaay, it only means double work. And our trainor told us that the new modules used for our training are new. they don;t give emphasis on public speaking and timezone calculation and to memorize the different states and capitals.

So can anyone here give me an advice on how to pass excellently the CCT cuz parang nakakahiya that one can speak it fluently but doesn't know the theoritical aspect of the language. haay, so embarassing talaga! thanks :depressed: :

my prev account puro external hiring ang TLs.. I think 3 sila who came from different call centers... pero after that, nagkaron din ng 3 internal hiring for TL trainees and sa mismong account na sila kumuha... ask around...

probation period is 4 months right? what if i'm still undergoing probation then i suddenly want to quit because i realized that working in a call center is not really for me... will i still pay the bond? some are saying na "panakot" lang naman yung bond, hindi daw totoo yun... how true??? i'm really planning to quit na although i know sayang kasi mataas salary. di ko na kasi kaya night shift, i rather have a job with a normal working sked.

training scheds start at 5am. so that's 5am-1pm. the latest is 3pm, that's 3pm-11pm.

you get paid the same amount that's on the contract. shempre may tax. and nite diff, kung maabot man.
