They are located near Alabang. I went there a few times since they were one of the clients I handled. I thought it was a nice office and the people were real friendly. I love the gym they have for their employees.

hi frisco,
i work for an oilfied service company in the same line as schlumberger.
are you going to be a part of the operations team (meaning are you going to be based offshore in drilling rigs)? or are you going to stay in the office?
if you'll be part of the former then read on:
1- you'll have a 7-day 12hour work sched for 4-6weeks.
2- if you'll be part of the wireline logging team then prepare to work for 24-36hrs straight during logging operations.
3- you'll be meeting different kinds of people: racist sons of *****es, etc. learn to adapt quickly and you'll be alright.
schlumberger is renowned for giving equal opportunities to everyone. the only problem they (and most service companies in the oilfield industry) have is the fast turnover of people.

hey frisco,
sorry i can't give you exactly how much is how much. but here's a salary range just to give you an idea of how much schlumberger or any other oilfield service company (MWD, Wireline, Mudlogging, Cementing, etc.) pays its trainee-employees:
trainee level
daily rate (while on the rig): $20-$75+
basic (monthly pay): $300-1500+
daily meal allowance (while travelling): $20-30+
*schlumberger has a profit sharing-scheme with their employees which i am not familiar with. but i think the crew gets 1% for every completed contract. so if the contract is worth $1M ... you do the arithmetic .... :D
good luck.

I know two people working for Schlum exploration, one is stationed in Egypt and the other has disappeared from the face of the earth since I last saw her..these are not your typical underpaid contract workers btw, they earn 4K USD a month in training before deployment...Tho training is very gruelling, physically and mentally from what I understood. What the company does is contract oil drilling services from upstream oil companies and the job is like what Bruce Willis does in Armageddon, stationed in an oil rig in the middle of the ocean for 6 months with workers and your supplies are brought in by a helicopter.
They hire one per year for that position and one other each in Malaysia/Thailand/Indonesia and you should be below 28 yo. The guy in Egypt is really good, has the technical aptitude and outstanding people skills. The other guy (a girl) is well-rounded, smart and artistic at the same time. I guess what I'm saying is, if they offer in exploration and you don't mind an Indiana Jones type existence..I suggest you take the job :-)

Back in college, I remember doing a paper on Schlumberger-Sena.

Neobe: i'm working for SLB and am currently assigned in Egypt. The work is as SpicyHam described it. It is grueling and really intense but you do get properly compensated for it. you also get to travel a lot. i've been to 4 different countries in the past 4 months. I worked for a while in P&G before and I can tell you that in terms of workload, nothing compares to Schlumberger...well, that is if you're in Wireline Segment (I'm not too sure how tough it is if you're assigned to other segments). they only hire one or two people from the Philippines ever year. if you have any questions, just send me a private message.
SpicyHam: do i know you? =)

Actually it's my friend who's interested in joining Schlumberger. She's the kind of person who doesn't realy care about earning too much. What's important to her is that she gets to enjoy what's she's earning.
Reading from your comments, I guess she better think twice.
Thanks a lot. :)

Hmm..6months naman ata bakasyon sila after 6months sa field so pwede nyang ma-enjoy yung kita nya..And look at it as an opportunity for your friend, not everyone can get the chance to expand their horizons as much and as early and the experience will make her extremely marketable in the future.
After all, how many people can say they ride a helicopter to work? :-) Papatok yan sa grad school interviewers...
frisco: HaHa andito ka pala!

Hi guys. Thanks a lot sa inputs ninyo. I let my friend read your comments and as I've expected, she wasn't interested. She wanna stick to the 8-5 kind of job daw where she's in the city and can enjoy a lot. Tsaka she doesn't wanna do a guy's job daw. Medyo kikay rin kasi yun eh. :) Gusto nun pumapasok siya nang nakaporma. :)
She'a looking into a plant-design type of job now.
Thanks again. :)
