I'm in the marketing and journalism industry, so I have a 9 to sawa job. I've been thinking of taking up computer classes so I can get a certificate in programming or something. I do know that I.T. is the way to go, that's why I'd like to learn more about it.
Are there any schools that offer Saturday classes for this?
What advice would you give someone like me who's super interested in getting a certification in computer studies, but can't quit her day job. Help!

Is there some chance that a department/unit in your current firm might be in need of computer programming skills? If so, why not investigate what kind of skills are in demand and study for those? If you let your desire for self improvement be known within your company, and are able to convince people to allow you to attend classes, the company might even pay for some of your training costs, lighten your current workload, and give you an appropriate work assignment afterwards.
To make your computer training meaningful, you will need to practice the skills you will be taught. Looking within your own organization for opportunities to apply your craft not only raises your potential value, but might open new paths for career advancement.
