Hey, great thread! After all, we are a growing tribe...
The kick I get in working in a call center is the above average salary and working in the night shift (no traffic issues!).
Sharing lang po:
As a kid, people used to call me "alien" because I couldn't speak a word of Filipino (Sa'ng planeta daw ako galing?). I grew to speak the language only through my classmates. Now, I find my American accent to be a major advantage!

i submitted my resume to people support a couple of weeks back. as i wait, i find myself getting more and more nervous because i hear stuff like there are typing tests, and vocabulary and grammar tests. i used to be quite confident about my skills but now...hehehe...i'm not quite sure anymore! maye if i didn't think about it so much, then maybe i'd calm down. hehehe :D

the test in peoplesupport is very easy.
first its a written exam. vocabs. grammer. basic internet. about 100 items as far as i remember.
if you pass that then you go to typing test. 30 words per minute.
if you pass typing test. interview.

Personally, I enjoy working in a call center. I only have to deal with traffic going home, and that's a big thing. The above average pay is definitely good.
It's also nice coz as a friend of mine said, you piss people off, it's perfectly legal, and you get paid for it.:p
I also love the culture where I work. eTelecare rocks! I just love the atmosphere, the people, everything. I love it when at the end of the day, everyone talks about the day, or even about the past. You'd hear the funniest, silliest lines used on customers.
It's all good.

hey!!! yup yup don't really worry bout the tests just don't go mental block! sometimes, because you think it's easy, that's the time you go ballistic thinking you would fail an easy test. Get to know the NATURE of the call center you're applying for and equip yourself with knowledge, skills and abilities needed in performing an agent's job and voila! you're on your way to being a call center persona!! ... don't forget THE ART OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS!!! good luck everyone and keep this comin!!! i'll be droppin by to give you as much as I know bout these call centers!!!:)

I applied at PeopleSupport, passed their tests, and had the interview where we did that thing...they then told me that they were gonna give me a call back.
Are they really going to call back, or is it their way of telling that I'm not hired? To those who works for PS, can you please tell me this is also what happened (they sent you home and called you again offering you a job). Coz in some call centers, they never gave me a call back so I'm curioused if I made it at PS. thanks!

For PeopleSupport, HR people normally tell the applicant when they will call, and they provide a specific time frame. If two weeks pass and you haven't received a call, kindly follow-up on your application.

SMi SERVICES,INC. IS A ****** CURSED PLACE!
damn! ive been there and worked as a "training" sales manager...probably the one in SM manila may be under a good management but the one in salcedo? thats worst than hell...i know its not good to bad mouth your previous job, but i just want to warn those who are planning to transfer and apply there...
in salcedo, the former name of SMi SERVICES INC. IS U.S. ASIA SOLUTIONS, INC. and i must say that it was a high paying job..happy working environment ...not until that JOEY RAMOS came...the new call center director....dont know if he's gay or what but i must say he's so unprofessional...if he doesn't like your ways, he'll easy dehire you right there and then.....
we were in good terms in the beginning ...but when i got involved with one of the other managers, he got in the way and made paki alam!....he dehired me THRU TEXT...and when i asked what were his grounds for dehiring me, they cant say a thing...so why would i insist, right? i believe i have my talents ...thats not the only call center in the world!!! i transfered......
they've been deducting TAX from our salaries and when some of my officemates checked it at BIR, they found out that they werent putting the money under our account....
even CHANNEL 7 went to that ****ing office in salcedo for an ambush interview but they were too COWARD to face them....
now, im planning to sue them and have ABS-CBN take charge because they put my income tax return on hold! they wont give me my check!!!
and its even on our contract that they cant easily dehire SENIOR AGENTS or the pioneers of the company!.....
and they hire those who speak well in english? I DOUBT IT! they only want enthusiastic poeple even if you dont know how to construct your grammar! IF YOU PLAY DUMB , YOU'LL EARN MORE MONEY..thats their policy...because as an agent, your only role is to pitch the client and the managers are the one who will close the deal......
PEOPLE THERE NOW SUCK! UNLIKE BEFORE!! MANAGEMENT IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL>>>>ESP WHEN THAT JOEY RAMOS OR THAT JOSE RIZAL RAMOS CAME...thats his complete name....
so if you want a stable job, think twice...
they have so many KALTAS, COMMISSIONS wont be given on the said date.....UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE, BAD MANAGEMENT and the call center DOESNT HAVE ANY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM!!! so hot......
its along salcedo st in makati so beware....7th/f 180 salcedo st.

How do you think this (http://www.donotcall.gov/) will affect the industry?

It's tough to gauge exactly how big the impact it will make on call centers. I'm sure a lot of people will register for that. But then again, several states already have a do not call list. The change in the amount of available leads in those states shouldn't be drastic.
I'm sure we all know that lots of people are just pissed at telemarketers. However, there are many who 'tolerate' us, and there are some who even welcome phone offers. I guess the total net effect of the national do not call law will depend on how many of those who tolerate telemarketers will actually go out and register their numbers in the do not call list.
I should prepare myself to go inbound... :D

I used to work with PS (parang ages ago na...). Okay sya. The people are really nice and accomodating. Wag ka nga lang maging masyadong familiar sa superiors mo.
Anyway, last I heard, PhP12K-15K ang starting nila. I started with PhP12K, then upon Regularization (6 months) you get a PhP3K increase, plus all the legal perks (Sick Leave, Vacation Leave). You also get an Aetna Full Medical Insurance for yourself and your legal dependents. You get 20% Night Differential if you work between 10PM and 6AM.
Their Accounting of your Salaries and Deductions are clearly stated in your Payslip, and Withholding Income Taxes are properly filed, as reported to the BIR.
I got hired within the week I submitted my Resume. Well, that was ages ago, like I said.
Their office is located at the 14F Philamlife Tower in Paseo De Roxas. Very good facilities and very conducive to work. They have Network Gaming Stations, a WideScreen TV and a Pool Table at the rec room. You can also get free coffee and hot chocolate from the Nescafe Vendo. It's very nice to work there.

hi guys!
im on my last screening stage in convergys and i do hope that i get in..but then im quite nervous about taking on the job of a customer service representative..
i've heard stories about CSRs who had been yelled and cursed at by ther callers.. kinakabahan talaga ako pag naiisip ko na ako na yung makakaranas ng ganun.. ako pa naman, kapag nape-pressure ako, nagstammer ako...
anyway, sana may magpost pa ng experiences nila sa call center dito. how do you feel when the person calling you is furious?what do you do kapag di mo ma-sufficiently answer yung query nung customer.. feeling ko kasi na yung nga clients, they really really expect you to have answer to all their questions. paano kapag nalito ka... would you be an easy candidate for job termination? napa-paranoid na tuloy ako...

I also used to work in a Call Center. Minsan mache-tyempuhan mo na irrate client ang mapunta sa iyo. Gawin mo lang, calm down and try to reason out. Cool ka lang. Hindi mo naman sila nakikita at hindi ka rin naman nila ikaw nakikita, so kahit anong gawin mo hindi nila alam as long as you keep your voice cool.
Pwede mong duru-duruin ang CallMaster mo or press the "Mute" button and curse them to hell, tapos pag balik mo sa kanya calm and collected kuno. Okay nga yun eh. It comes as a challenge to your patience and to your ability to act as if you're calm and collected, when you want to panic.

ey dude! seems that call center of yours is getting the better of you... get outta there now, i'm tellin ya. try out call centers in IBM Plaza (three of them there), Citibank Square, others in the Eastwood area. Try call center consulting firms too if you're really up to a career path in call centers i.e. the ones in makati stock exchange tower 1 (makati), etc...
go job hunting with less expense. good luck and i think you deserve better than waiting for retrenchment.

I don't know if what I went through is usual with other call center peeps....=).
I went hopping from one call center to another, from Makati to Ortigas, from US-owned to locally-owned and finally I settled with one for a year and a half now. Mind you, the hopping was done in less than a year time. Good thing, di pa medyo uso yung bond nun. And it was a bit advantageous din kse lumawak ang networks ko.
Good points:
-Easy money, especially for entry levels. Ang dami pang perks and fringe benefits. I don't know a call center that does not give meal/transpo/night allowances.
- Responsibility is not really heavy, coz your work is exclusive to the time you spend on your ACD phone, in contrast to an 8AM-5PM job where it's very probable and at times imminent that you have to take your job home.
- Mabilis ang promotion (ata?)
- May training muna bago ka i-deploy.
Not so good points:
- Mahirap mag shift ng career when you're from the call center industry.
- Your schedule is very erratic.
- There will come a time that you will get bored.
my 2 cents.

Warmest Hello, Everybody!
I'm new here, I'm glad I dropped by to check again. Several times before, I just took a peek and left off. But now, the topic is absolutely interesting. And you're all very interesting too. Hehehe. Hope you won't mind me suddenly butting in.
I'm MiRaGe, male and like most of you, I'm into this wonderful world of Customer Care or Service or Call Center or whatever you prefer to call it. Currently, I'm with an ISP (Internet Service Provider) so my work scope ranges from the Basic Customer Support to the more interesting Technical side of the Internet and Cross-functioning. My work is really a rich learning experience though the pay is below my financial necessities. And soon, our company will be restructuring which will challenge us to better heights so that means our Team will have to upgrade skills and capabilities. Looking at the good side of it, it's an excellent opportunity for us (we'll also get a raise because of the improvement). I'm a College undergraduate but I always strongly believed that I can do as good, if not better, than the graduates. For me, limits are self-imposed so at times, I'm bound to break it for the better if necessary. Experience, performance, skills, outlook towards the job and life... these are more essential and critical than just a degree. Btw, I'm also into Computers especially Hardware and the Net. It's my first love (ever watched Electric Dreams?!?). =]
Before working with an ISP, I was able to work for other Call Centers/Customer Service Dept/Etc. From Paging to Pizza Hut, from Data Center to ISP. Hehehe... For a person with a positive outlook in life, the Customer Service Industry is something to feel wonderful about. In this Industry, one can find a profession that touches other people's lives (even if we are not aware of it). Hmmm... parang commercial. If you don't like the idea of dealing with people, then, you are not really for this kind of work because one has to have very good understandings and reasons for doing his/her job. Anyway, what is the greatest and most valuable assets of any company?!? It's its Clients/Customers or Consumers, whatever you prefer to call it. Without them, no company can ever survive! If you still haven't realized the reason for existence of people in the Customer Service Industry - they are there to take care of the Clients/Customers! What a purpose! It's so fulfilling to be able to help a Client successfully and afterwards, would thank you so much. Everytime I experience that, I tell myself... "That's a job well done, Sir!"... Of course, it's not always without the rude and arrogant ones. Nevertheless, it's another challenge! Control is something we also have to learn in life... control of temper... control of anger... patience, patience & patience. I have also learned that getting even with an irrate Client is never a good idea. They deserve all the special treatments we can afford and we can also answer back at them nicely. My share of story?!? I experienced a steaming mad Client before and I still did my job. Guess what happened at the end? He even thanked me and calmed down. That was enough to make me smile and feel so good. Who says this profession is boring?!? It really depends on the one looking at it. You are right with what you are thinking, things are not always perfect. What is or who is? There are also times when I know I've done all that can be done and I did my work to the best of my knowledge and yet a Client would be unnice and be unlikely. That's all part of the job... rejection, being yelled at, being cursed... there's nothing personal about it, aside from the fact that we just can't please everyone, there are really those kinds of people. Don't let it consume you. Those experiences make us (my colleagues and I) laugh knowing the reality and we're not on the losing end. Nothing is perfect in this world and it's up to us to make the best of what there is.
I'm in the process of moving to another Company. I've always believed that sharing similar goals, desires, objectives, etc. with the Company I'm working for would contribute greatly to my success and of course, would make me contribute more to the growth of the Company... Boss Una_dagmar, hope to get in touch with you. I may send you an e-mail. Thanks in advance.
Another thing: my communication skills improved because of my profession as I communicate frequently on a regular basis. Now, I know I'm better than when I wasn't into this Industry.
Wish you the best of the best. Keep up the good work!
:D

a wannabe
hi..thanks guys for all your messages here...i'm actually one of the wannabe's when it comes to being a customer service representative/agent or whatever you want to call it...the very first call center company i've applied to was asia call center link, (well that was after i graduate, last year) i've got sets of grammar & vocabulary exams, an interview, typing test etc...but i wasn't able to make it=( i always stammer kasi when it comes to interviews... so after that di na ko nag-try ulet
i'm currently employed with one of the local IT companies, but I'm thinking of moving out. I started passing my application with some of the call centers (linksys and sykes), and i haven't attended their interview invitations yet, coz i'm having second thoughts about it. di ko kasi alam kung may promotions ba talaga sa mga call centers, coz i've got this negative comments with some of my friends that there's no growth working on this kind of companies. pero i think na meron **** siguro, depends nga lang sa performance talaga and the kind of company na papasukin. but i want to hear it from you guys, na nagwowork na sa call centers...i want to improve my communication skills din kasi, and i enjoy dealing with different kinds of people...somehow i could say na i know how to control my emotions (which i think is a must in this kind of profession)
another thing lang medyo hesitant din ako mag-try kasi sometimes nagii-stutter **** ako...i want to prepare muna before i take the exams and interviews...
how should i prepare myself?i know na this kind of career would focus more on how i communicate...kaya lang medyo kinakabahan ako because i'm not that fluent in english...what should i do?
can you guys, give me advice?

erm.. i got excited--and i'm being bum-me-phobic. it's my first job and i was such a newbie then. they called me even before graduating, tapos phone interview agad. i was even exhausted from barkada gimmick and then filed the application, resume and took the qualifying exams the following day and they offered the contract immediately which left me really confused --i wouldn't even know the position i was applying for if they hadn't told me. i have no idea about the client. all i know is they want a tekki >yakiudon< and madaldal person.
i guess i was lucky upon grabbing this opportunity, after a few weeks i found out that there are now semi-qualifying exams for comm skills. when they hired our batch, we were all considered as regular employees agad. kaya mas pressured ang mga repapips ngayon. dun-dun-dun-dun.
owshige ang daldal ko... the best advice, i must say is:
empower yourself :D

Hello, Folks!
If you happen to have a list of Call Centers locally (if you can also refer for overseas, it'd be better), please post it here. I have a partial list which I'd share in a day or 2. It'd be of extreme help to those who are eyeing the possibility of working in the Industry. Thanks in advance. Have a wonderful day, Everybody!

Hello, 3sha!
I'm in the process of leaving my present work but I've got 2 find a replacement 1st. You know, sometimes, we have 2 move on and progress... the company I'm now working for can't help me w/ my necessities anymore though my work enabled me to gain so much technicalities expecially w/ regards to the Net. I'm a Customer/Technical Support Specialist and it's a marvelous work since I love everything about computers so much (especially the Net) and I also enjoying working w/ different people.
I've sacrificed good salary for learning and now, I'm all geared-up for better challenge.
What's keeping you bz aside from the Net, 3sha?
Catch you around. Take it ez.

i'm currently employed with one of the local IT companies, but I'm thinking of moving out. I started passing my application with some of the call centers (linksys and sykes), and i haven't attended their interview invitations yet, coz i'm having second thoughts about it. di ko kasi alam kung may promotions ba talaga sa mga call centers, coz i've got this negative comments with some of my friends that there's no growth working on this kind of companies. pero i think na meron **** siguro, depends nga lang sa performance talaga and the kind of company na papasukin. but i want to hear it from you guys, na nagwowork na sa call centers...i want to improve my communication skills din kasi, and i enjoy dealing with different kinds of people...somehow i could say na i know how to control my emotions (which i think is a must in this kind of profession)
another thing lang medyo hesitant din ako mag-try kasi sometimes nagii-stutter **** ako...i want to prepare muna before i take the exams and interviews...
should i do?
can you guys, give me advice?
Hi! I guess one very GOOD way of practicing your communication skills is sit down in front of the mirror and pretend you're being interviewed!! Express yourself in fluent English and whenever you're at a loss for words, try jotting down your ideas and later on check the dictionary and pick up the words you were supposed to use. AND REMEMBER! Choose the simplest yet words which expresses your thoughts directly!!
Hope this works! ;)

If you're referring to the call center in the ABS CBN Compound, it's called RMH.
If you are interested in call centers in QC area, there are lots in Eastwood. Specifically:
1. iTouchPoint - 22 Flr of IBM Plaza (Directory Assistance)
2. Globalstride - 29 Flr of IBM Plaza (sales)
3. Air Relay - 18th Flr of IBM Plaza (sales)
4. eTelecare - Citibank Square (multi-clients - sales, tech support, etc.)
5. C3 (c-Cube) - has its own place after IBM and Megaworld buildings (multi clients - sales, customer service)
6. Link to Support - is in iCite further after McDo (tech support)
Hope I've helped you somehow :*)

hi bushi_princess!
let this be a learning process for you. advise ko sa yo, if you're applying for a call center - ALWAYS KEEP YOUR CELLPHONES OPEN AND CHECK EMAILS ALWAYS!! If you're on a tight budget, allocate more on your mobile connection - cell and email. You'll never know when the recruiter's gonna call you. And since there are hundreds of peeps applying, the schedule is usually filled up for the week, thus if you miss your slot, it's gonna be a waiting period again.
Don't despair though . keep your spirits up! Just always be available to your recruiters especially if you are actively applying

im also interested in working for a call center. can people who work in call centers with great working environments and good compensation please tell us more about the company that they work for? also, im a bit wary about the "bond" that most call centers are reportedly requiring of their new employees - so that if you fail to stay for a certain period of time with the company you will have to pay a large amount of money as a "fine."
please explain to us wannabes more about these things! :)

Altwegg: I think that's Epixtar. They're into sales - both inbound and outbound.
spidervein: I work in a technical support call center situated at Eastwood City. Our company does have a bond for probationary employees equal to a month's worth of salary. Frankly speaking, compensation here is not really attractive as compared to the other call centers, however the working environment is superb. We have all sorts of indoor games free for all, we also have a lounge where you can sleep as long as you're not on duty. Some agents practically live in the office!

The trend is, most call centers accept undergrads nowadays unlike a year ago when they were still strict with the college degree requirement. And I know most undergrads who work in call centers, they stick it out with the night shift. Just give it a try if you want; it would really depend on you if you want to get in there.
One center that I know of which hires undergrads is Etelecare.

The one in Laguna is All Asia, and ang starting dun is P8T. the company usually practices hiring by agencies though (VR, Linkstaff, etc)
As for Apac, it's both inbound and outbound, though mostly outbound like Etel.

hey vandarkala, it's not what you do, but how well you do it. let's not look down on other people's aspirations. if all of us did the same thing, this world would not run smoothly. if you only stopped to think and look at how each and every person plays a role in the grand scheme of things, i guess you wouldnt be going around tossing rhetorical questions that serve no other purpose but to ever so delicately demean what other people want to do - or be.

how do you see the call center in 2 years' time?
and if an out-of-line person like me ( i am into research)

how will it be if I try to apply in 2 years' time?

apply kayo sa ambergris - growing sila, over 1200 employees ata daw last i heard. 2 plus months na ko don- like it a lot naman. pay nila ok naman , may increase pa afetr 6 motnhs then nag announce lang sila na change ng benefits, may vacation and sick leave na after 6 months, dati yata tagal ng wait, ngayon supvisor ko told me how many days meron ako upon regular ko. easy lang test nila - may essay on customer serice - then english verbal test, then grammar. wag ka lang mag tagalog sa interview, ok lang no american accent basta perfect grammr ka lang sa interview. 1 month training nila - then dami nila fun stuff, like may "talks with ceo" ka meeting mo batang batang ceo nila, then may meet the hr - educational naman din, pero the best is may lookforward ka to fridays kasi may "friday treats: sila , some times food lang, sometimes company gieveaways. no matter kung ano, its the thought that counts, biro mo more than 1000 employees bigyan nila ng friday treat, ok din yon.
dami nila accounts - siguro kaya every sunday nag advertise sila sa newspaper. apply ka - walk in ok lang daw anytime.
hoenstly, i think any call center you go to - kahit saa company ka pumunta, pereho pareho lang - may office politics, sometimes may management na pangit, tyempo tyempo lang, all partof the real world outside of college diba.

share lang ako ng experience ko dito kung maaari...
i tried to work in etelecare before. wala akong idea about call centers pero kelangan ko ng job dati... they told me dati that they're not accepting undergrads daw. i was so frustrated kasi nga undergrad ako.
then my first brush with a call center was with sykes... not to brag, pero i got a perfect score sa test nila (50/50 i remember it well) then i got the job after only one interview. related kasi *** account sa autocad, which was integrated into my curriculum sa csb. i was hired wednesday, came in late on thursday, and got sacked on friday. pero blessing in disguise din kasi i told them that i was a grad kahit hindi. baka mabutasan pa ko.
tapos i was hired by c3 (source one asia) sa libis. the pay then was around 11k pero kinagat ko na kasi they were the first company to hire me regardless of my educational background, being an undergrad and all, pero they didn't care. un nga lang, i wasn't able to pass the certification test, sacked again. then naghanap sila ng reps to go to people support for a joint account, an internet security account. sacked again after 2 weeks... wala na namang trabaho. sacked again... went back to c3 for a local account na mas mababa pa ang sweldo kesa driver ng kumpanya.
then came infonxx. i was proud to be a member of batch 1 there, being one of the core group. kaso it didn't work out with me and some of the people there... sacked for the nth time.
i came to itouchpoint august of last year... another gamble with a start-up company, so batch 1 na naman. eventually God has a plan for all of us and siguro eto *** plan nya para sakin...
now i'm a training officer with itouchpoint in eastwood, making at least 3-4 times than that of my first call center job. i was promoted to trainer after only 2 months as a directory assistance rep, and to training officer a year after i first started. i was even sent to bangalore to supervise the first 2 batches of reps there, and train batches 3 and 4.
when i look back to those times when i was desperate for work, i'm happy na din things turned out that way. kasi talagang eventually makukuha din ang swerte. dasal lang at tiyaga ang kelangan. they have a saying, if you can't make it, fake it. kung hindi ka marunong, pagtiyagaan mo lang. may training naman eh. ganun ang naging experience ko with call centers. everytime we have a new batch, i tell them about my experience whenever i get the chance to talk to them during the first days of training. nakakatuwa kasi talaga palang may chance ang undergrads to excel and earn decent money.

then my first brush with a call center was with sykes... not to brag, pero i got a perfect score sa test nila (50/50 i remember it well) then i got the job after only one interview. related kasi *** account sa autocad, which was integrated into my curriculum sa csb. i was hired wednesday, came in late on thursday, and got sacked on friday. pero blessing in disguise din kasi i told them that i was a grad kahit hindi. baka mabutasan pa ko.
tapos i was hired by c3 (source one asia) sa libis. the pay then was around 11k pero kinagat ko na kasi they were the first company to hire me regardless of my educational background, being an undergrad and all, pero they didn't care. un nga lang, i wasn't able to pass the certification test, sacked again. then naghanap sila ng reps to go to people support for a joint account, an internet security account. sacked again after 2 weeks... wala na namang trabaho. sacked again... went back to c3 for a local account na mas mababa pa ang sweldo kesa driver ng kumpanya.
then came infonxx. i was proud to be a member of batch 1 there, being one of the core group. kaso it didn't work out with me and some of the people there... sacked for the nth time.

my friends sort of looked down at me when i told them i was now working for a call center. my undergrad was business with some legal aspects on it and a bit of marketing as well. sabi ko naman, hindi ha, it's worth it. yes, sila they're there na nga, but still they are on the same field etc etc ako, i have proven that i can do other things. ako kasi when i applied for this call center, i specifically asked for a challenging account kaya even though i did not have an IT background, i insisted at sobrang inaral ko siya. knowledge in IT is something that not everyone has.

I'm working at a call center ngayon pero nagdo-doubt ako if stable nga na career path ito. So now I'm asking for some advice, can you say na someday kapag nagkapamilya ka kaya mong suportahan ang pamilya mo with this job? And what about the rumors na hindi daw magtatagal ang call center industry? Hindi ba kayo natatakot? Kasi after this job anong pwede pang lipatan? What if 35 yrs old ka na and then biglang nag-slump ang call center industry saan ka pwedeng pumunta?
And (last na) my course is Comp.

anyway, sana may magpost pa ng experiences nila sa call center dito. how do you feel when the person calling you is furious?what do you do kapag di mo ma-sufficiently answer yung query nung customer.. feeling ko kasi na yung nga clients, they really really expect you to have answer to all their questions. paano kapag nalito ka... would you be an easy candidate for job termination? napa-paranoid na tuloy ako...
pag si caller, sumigaw...tone down ang boses mo. the more mataas ang boses nya, do the opposite. be confident. hinga ng malalim then talk. that is the most effective way to deal with an irate caller.
i handle inbound sales now at a call center here in libis and if i dont know the answer, i tell them to call customer service or technical support for their questions. kasi kahit alam ko, di ko sinasabi kasi mawiwili sila to press the prompt for sales coz they know, mas mabilis *** kesa sa customer service pero sori na lang.:)

ooooooooooooo, ganito lang yan... working in a call center in the states pays somewhere around $8 an hour. imagine that! if you were the capitalista of the company, you would find another place where you can get the same accent americans have. where would you go? syempre sa pinas! dito english is integrated into the curriculum of students as early as elementary pa lang, so malaking advantage talaga satin un. now going back to the capitalist thing, you go here to get the same quality of service, mababait pang mga tao (filipinos are polite by nature), and an english accent na ang tatalo lang ay kano.
if you were to pay $8 an hour to an dude there in the states, at 8 hours of work, you pay one agent $64 a day. multiply it by 26 days (sundays off) you pay one agent there almost $1600 a month. pagdating mo sa pinas, an agent does the same work for $200 a month, basic starting. syempre kung ikaw ang capitalist, dun ka sa mas mura di ba?
the trend right now is sa call center talaga if ur not queasy about working, as long as it provides for your family. believe me when i say, call centers are most likely here to stay.
the only thing is, kelangan mong mag-ipon. bihira ang call center na nagbibigay ng retirement benefits. ako mismo wala akong alam na nagbibigay ng ganito, pwera na lang siguro kung talagang mataas ang position mo. pero in terms of pay, i'd rather work in a call center earning 12-15k kesa work sa office na 8 hours a day, extended pa madalas kasi most of the time you bring your work at home, for a measly 6-8k a month. do the math. hehehe... cheers!

Hi guys! I'm thinking of applying to a call center. I have a few questions...
Nahirapan ba kayo magadjust sa thick super slang American accent? What do you do when you're having a hard time understanding what your customer is saying? I'm assuming you can pass the call to someone else? I've lived in the States kasi and that's one of the problems I've encountered there... guess it takes some getting used to.
Yung calls ba na narerecieve nyo pretty much pare-pareho lang so kabisado nyo na siguro what you're gonna tell them beforehand, right? Mas madali ba talaga yung directory assistance kesa customer service? Siguro the hardest ay yung outbound ba yon? Is it the same as telemarketer? Yung ikaw yung tatawag and isesell mo yong product right?
Anyway, pinaka interested ako dun sa local call center. Ano-ano ba local call centers here in the Phil.? Also, what companies offer chat and email support? Pwede ka bang mag-apply specifically for those?
Please help me guys! I think I've read every single thread about call centers here and di pa rin nasagot lahat ng questions ko eh. :)

ako sometimes hirap...sometimes they don't understand me kasi daw i have this accent eh...lalo na kung may sipon ka..sasabihin sayo you're breaking up....
the hardest of them all is being a telemarketer..its part of being an outbound call center agent ..soobrang hirap kasi kelangan ng sobrang convincing powers before you sell...pag mahina ang loob mo wag ka **!
anyway..i'm a telemarketer heheheh

And what about the rumors na hindi daw magtatagal ang call center industry? Hindi ba kayo natatakot? Kasi after this job anong pwede pang lipatan? I'm now contemplating on a call center career after being out of work for 3 months due to company cost-cutting measures. Of all the call centers I've applied for, only Ambergris responded. I have gone through three interviews (phone, 1st personal and 2nd personal), and am awaiting a third one.
My views are the same as yours. What if call centers suddenly slumped??? Another thing, I haven't been in this field before, and I've haven't tried "burning the midnight oil" so to speak, the thought of working in the middle of the night, and even have to miss out on your regular church worship on Sundays since they don't have a fixed work schedule.
I'm already 38, approaching my early 40s. It has been tough for me to look for a job. After reading all of your views, I now have a better idea how a call center operates, and what to anticipate. Basically, its a good career path for me, but then.... considering my age, this could be one big obstacle for me to overcome.
I don't know what you guys think here. Have you come across a call center applicant of my age???

thanks sa papuri..heheh.pero ang hirap talaga sa telemarketing...
i think madali sa directory assistance kasi you're just telling the clients the address & directions, not like in customer service you should prepare answers coz the questions are out of the blue..so dapat may knowledge ka sa product of whatsoever...
rmh? sa may abs-cbn yan..may directory assistance & inbound/outbound customer service...

Pero ang habol ko is technical support. Anu-ano po bang call centers ang naghahanap ng technical support? Nag-aaply na ako through jobstreet at through DLSU job fair pero until now wala pang tumatawag sakin for interview or exam.

Teletech is a good call center although no transitions allowed sa amin Vocativ employees... kasi, teletech started in Fort Boni pero lumipat na sila sa Roxas Blvd...
Isang acct lang ang iiwan nila sa Fort tpos the rest of the accts will continue in Roxas Blvd. sabi ng mga friends ko sa ibang acct na nalipat dun eh sobrang ganda dahil lahat ng reklamo namin sa Fort eh tinupad nila sa Roxas. like may garden sa loob ng bldg, may shower room, kama sa quiet room, ewan ko lang kung may recreational... pero ayuin... lau nga lang talaga...

if customer would curse me, i just press the mute button and curse them in return.. or just laugh on them... during the interview its either u pretend that ur patient OR you may tell them that ur an IMpatient person BUT you only keep it to yourself... its a safe and real way of answering questions about yourself...

it would be better if apply ka directlysa mga call centers who accept walk in applications. mas mabilis *** processing ng papers mo.
u could try ccube in eastwood city libis.. it is an inbound sort of company and ang alam ko they are focused on technical support.
if you are qualified you could sign contracts with them in the afternoon agad.. ganon kabilis..
ako kse i applied sa outbound sort of call centers kaya okay naman.. anyway i plan to focus on the field of marketing anyway..

I have the following questions. Would appreciate input from those who may know.:
1. How do Contact Centers charge their clients? (ex. $ per call, per seat, etc.)
2. Is there a minimum volume of calls that the client has to forecast before the contact center agrees to do the job? (ex. what about small businesses?)
3. If possible, what are the current Peso or US$ rates that contact centers charge for their services? (ex. $ per call, $ per head, etc.)
The purpose will be for personal home desktop support to client's customers.

If you've been wondering why you have been failing in the entrance exams, call simulations or interviews, we at Lingua Franca can help. Just drop by our office in the 22nd floor of PBCom Tower, Ayala Avenue corner Rufino St. (formerly Herrera) and we can offer the following services:
1. Assess your qualifications as benchmarked against the standards set by the top 10 call centers in the Philippines (eTelecare, Convergys, Sykes, Peoplesupport, ICT Group, Ambergris, INFONxx, Teletech, Contact World/Client Logic, and C-Cubed)
2. Provide consulting services that will help you identify what you need to do, learn or study in order to bridge your qualification and the minimum qualification acceptable in the top 10 call centers
3. Offer the English Proficiency Workshop, an affordable crash course that can actually improve your English communication skills, in order to improve your chances of passing exams and interviews from the usual 20% (1 out of 5) to an unbelievable 70% (almost 4 out of 5)
4. Offer FREE orientations where entrance exams, call simulations, and interviews are explained in detail for a selected number of call centers (it's like finding our what it takes to pass these exams and interviews)
5. FREE headhunting services - where we find the right employer for you, given your set of qualifications - so that you don't have to work too hard in looking for a job vacancy, we'll do the looking (NOTE: This assumes that the applicant is willing to work hard in preparing for the interview and exams based on the advice given by our assessors and trainors; search period ranges from 1 week to 2 months, depending on the set of qualifications)
Sounds too good to be true? Well. I suggest you try it first before you disregard this offer. Our office numbers are 815-9826 and 816-0914. Just look for Reg or Anna and say you're interested in getting hired in a call center and would like to find out more from Lingua Franca about what it takes to get hired.
