hi! we're due this month and would really appreciate it if you guys could give us an idea of hospital costs for delivery based on experience... thanks! we've tried calling the billing sections but they just give some vague sketchy reply, or worse, transfer the call to all sorts of departments all over the hospital...

one of my friends delivered there via caesarian - cost is 100K.

The service is good although the private rooms are bigger in Cardinal Santos for the same price range.

The room, labor room, operating room and other hospital charges will probably be around 30k to 40k for a 4 day 3 night stay in a small private room. Talk to your OB about his or her rates because that constitutes a big chunk of the expenses. Anaesthesiologists fees are about half the OB fees. The pedia fees are about 3K.

For the record, if your wife gives birth in Medical City, your child's brithplace will be "Mandaluyong City". :D

I have a friend who delivered via C-section, she had complications like gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia, she shelled out P150,000 because of the many specialists on stand-by.

The good thing about Medical City is that they allow the baby to room-in with the mother right after birth. No fussy rules about staying at the nursery.

thanks! hmm... must really pray for a normal delivery... c-section is really no joke especially cost-wise... but that's good about rooming in. :)

hi. my sis-in-law born her 1st baby via CS in medical city & her total bill is more or less 30k but not more than 40k. actually it depends also w/ ur OB's professional fee & it also depends on how complicated you are before & after giving birth. hope this helps. goodluck & god bless! =)

A friend availed of the caesarian package in small private room. the cost of whole package before was 42K+. They enrolled in the month of jan, she was in the 4th month of pregnancy when she found out about this plan. they had 5 months (jan, feb, mar, april, may) to pay 8500+. her due date was june. Dapat by your 8th Month tapos ka na magbayad. kung maaga ka mag-enrol mas maganda. let say, you found out you are pregnant on your 2nd month, you can hav 7 installments so mas magaan sa bulsa.

Get the caeserian package kasi if you get the normal delivery package tapos biglang naging caeserian ka they will charge you the normal rates which is higher. they will refund naman. normal delivery in the plan was just 26K+.

my wife gave birth last 2001 in medical city.... pero normal delivery lang. it costs us around 40K+, but i got an expensive room na nun... the room costs around 2,500 a day... kaya if you will shoot for a lower room, you might go lower than that. pero di ko lang alam kung magkana na ngayon...

but the services in medical city is amongs the best of hospital services in metro manila. wala kang masasabi (nurses, doctors, facilities), kaya sulit ang ibabayad, good choice and medical city. and tham, i tink they have packages, and mas maganda kung i-aavail mo yun.

who's your OB btw? kasi, mine was Dra. Austero...she's good and she is a residence of medical city.

thanks guys...:) mm... yeah, i tried asking about the packages... if i remember right, the package for normal delivery is 20k + and around twice for cs. kaya lang, the packages provide you stay in the ward (which is ten beds)... lucky if you're the only one delivering when you do, kaya lang it's Baby Season now. :rotflmao:

plus, we're aiming for a lamaze delivery, and that means it really has to be private cause hospital rules don't allow the partner in the delivery room if there are other delivering mothers there (respect for privacy and all)...

medical city doesn't have a package for the lamaze room...

kung puede lang, sa maternity clinic parang mas maganda, kaso high risk eh..

our doctor is dra. aguilar, she's a pgh doc but she's affiliated with medical city, cardinal santos, east ave., and trinity...:)

I read about the waterbirth method sa fitpregnancy mag pero i doubt meron nito dito.

anyway, this forum is helpful dahil sa delivery packages.

I gave birth to my first child last Feb2003 in Medical City.I was under the care of Dra. Clemente-Chua current OB-Gyne Assn Pres. We availed of her CS package which only costs us 32k. 5days stay in a private cubicled rms.And as far as i can remember normal delivery is only 26k.Facilities are in good condition, rooms are clean and well kept, hspital staff are efficient and very comforting which is very important for first time moms like me. Its definitely a thumbs up for them. You should ask the cost directly with your OB not with the hospital. Good luck to both of you and Congratulations in advance!:)

meron akong nakitang birthing room sa Asian Hospital specifically for water births. as in may pool and all. I don't know though if meron ng doctor na nag-attempt mag water birth dito sa Pilipinas.

i gave birth @ medical city on the last day of 2003. i had an emergency cesarian because my baby couldn't fit, only they said that after being in labor for a day and a half. :( i was in the recovery room for 7 whole hours. we stayed in the hospital for three days. all in all it cost us 90k, but half of it went to the anesthesiologist's and doctor's fees. thanks to philhealth, we only had to pay 80k.

it seems sa medical city na ako, di na sa polymedic, same doctor pa rin. by june 15 daw nakalipat na sa new bldg ang medical city.
ang package ni doc is around 25-30k normal delivery (kasama na kaya ang epidural, i wonder?) i think right now mas kinakabahan ako sa fees than the labor pains :D

My OB is also Dra Clementa-Chua of Medical City
I have a few questions. I'm a first time mom and I'm expecting to give birth come September of this year. Me and my husband are planning to avail of her package. I know it includes the room, the anesthesiologist, her professional fee, and the pediatrician. What's the type of room included? By the way, how and where can be file for the lay away package of medical city? Thanks.:)

hi,a_martin. the rooms are actually situated in one big room divided into i think 6-8 individual private rooms exclusive for birthing moms with common cr . Its still comfortable the way it is, though. You can have an ocular of the rooms so you can see for yourself that's what we actually did. Just ask her secretary for the room number. Sorry but i don't have any idea with regards to the lay away program of mdcl city or maybe try inquiring with her secretary fely she could be of help.

God be with you on your delivery date anyways, you're going to be in good hands Dra.Lyra is an expert and very comforting as well. Good luck : )

We didn't spent a dime when my wife delivered sa Medical City 7 years ago. Dapat PHP 10K ang gastos pero medicare and some other financial aid took care of it. Pero dun sa mga matiyagang mag-inquire at mag-research, madaming paraan to spend less with the same quality and materials lalo't kapakanan ng bata ang iisipin nyo.
