View Full Version : [MERGED] How do you treat mouth sores ( SINGAW ) ?
nix

There have been several suggestions on how to cure singaw like tawas and garling with salted water, but these do not seem to cure singaw. What do you recommend?

Yung betadine na for oral purposes daw...
I can tell you how NOT to cure it. I know someone who rubbed salt on her singaw because she was told it would heal faster... but the next day it got even bigger!

Ira, batang uliran: You mean there's no way to make it go away? You have to wait for it to go away? It would be nice to know that you can "shorten its life" somehow.
Ira
Nov 17, 1999, 12:55 AM
Singaw is just an infection of the oral mucosa caused by bacteria. It's usually self-limiting, so you don't really have to do anything about it. Pyralvex is a medication which has both antibiotic and analgesic properties--you wipe it on the singaw--but if you can tolerate the pain naman, then you don't really need it. Keep your oral cavity clean (Bactidol would be good), and above all, stop touching the singaw. You're making it worse.

I think you mean it's caused by a virus. Isn't it the reactivation of the herpes simplex virus? It starts up when the immune system is kinda compromised. I think when it's real bad, some anti-viral medications can be prescribed. But usually, it should resolve on its own, like most viral infections.
batang uliran
Nov 17, 1999, 02:20 AM
Singaw will go away on its own. All the stuff you do just serves to irritate it and probably make it hang around longer.
Ira
Nov 17, 1999, 02:42 AM
No, I mean it's bacteria. One belief is that the normal oral bacteria attack the lining of the mouth, the tongue and the gums. Not programmed to fight the body's own bacteria, the immune system ignores the attack and the infected site ulcerates.
Herpes Simplex virus also causes oral sores, but its appearance and distribution is pretty distinct from ordinary aphthous stomatitis (singaw) that it should not be difficult to differentiate between the two. In HSV, The patient has systemic symptoms of fever, malaise, and enlarged lymph nodes. They are typically multiple and clustered, and there are vesicles, unlike in ordinary singaw.

Tawas is effective, try applying it directly on the "singaw", but it's quite painful & has a bitter taste.(I've tried it before and it worked)
batang uliran
Nov 17, 1999, 07:05 PM
Nope, it's what's termed a self-limiting problem and the best solution is to leave it alone and wait for it to leave. In severe cases, as harley mentioned, you can take medicines for it but not for the everyday variety.

i found the BEST medicine for singaw!!! it's called "Zilactin-B" -- i call it the "singaw band-aid" cause it literally covers it with a thin film for up to 4-6 hours and at the same time heals it! -- THE BEST!!! -- the problem is i'm not sure if you can get it here (try nalang) -- but my dentist gave me a similar medicine called "Solcoseryl" dental adhesive paste -- this sounds gross: it's made of Deproteinized Calf Blood Extract and Polidocanol -- whatever that is -- but like Zilactin-B, it works wonders :-) -- does the same thing as Zilactin-B and the good news is you can get it in Mercury :-)
AMOSAN is very good too :-)

Where is your singaw located? On the gums, roof of the mouth, or the tongue? There are two kinds of singaw: Canker sores, which are found in soft tissues of the mouth like the tongue and the inside of the cheek, and fever blisters, found on the gums and the roof of the mouth.
I'm currently in specialty training in a certain surgical field. So while I haven't finished yet, for all intents and purposes, I'm still a general practitioner.

NewYorker363: Umm...not interested in females, being one myself, but thanks anyway for the kind thought. As for going there... I like going to the US only on vacation basis. I am already done with school, am a certified, card-carrying doctor for several years already, and in postgrad training, although I might consider going there to subspecialize in neurosurgical oncology.
Regarding your singaws...those sound like what is in layman's term is called cold sores, or fever blisters. Fever blisters result from a herpes simplex virus which becomes active. This virus is latent in afflicted people, but can be activated by conditions such as stress, fever, vit. B deficiency, trauma, hormonal changes, and exposure to sunlight. One study shows that recurrent sores may be due to a genetic predispostion. When lesions reappear, they tend to form in the same location, and may be heralded with itching, like yours does.
Treatments for recurrent attacks include topical and/or oral Acyclovir, an antiviral drug, which works best when taken as soon as you feel burning, or tingling in the area. However, Acyclovir only shortens the outbreaks - it does not prevent new outbreaks from occurring unless its oral form is taken continuously (50% success rate on those who took 4 pills/day for 4 months). It's as expensive as hell, and longterm side effects are unknown. Wash the area twice a day with mild soap like Dove. I checked some medical websites, and dermatologists recommend using L-Lysine 500 mg, an amino acid, found in the vitamin section at the drugstore. As soon as you feel burning or tingling in the area, take 3-4 tablets a day for the first 2 days and then 2 tablets a day until the blisters dry up. Take the tablets after meals. Also apply Herpecin-L to the blister every half hour for the first few days. This treatment can reduce healing time. Taking one tablet daily of L-Lysine has been known to prevent fever blisters in some people. Another product which they recommend is Tend Skin (you can check it out at skinsite.com), which will at least improve the appearance. Bad news about fever blisters, though: While frequency of attacks lessen after 35 years old, it is recurrent, and there is at present no known accepted treatment for it to disappear completely. The ones I mentioned are just symptomatic treatments and observed effects with not enough studies yet to back them up.
Hope this helps.

Ira
Dec 23, 1999, 10:17 AM
Singaw comes in different forms, and may be caused by viral or bacterial organisms, nutritional deficiencies, or immune responses. NY363's is recurrent, and is most probably caused by a viral infection. Singaw is not caused by fungal infection, though. I suspect that your nystatin solution has a corticosteroid ingredient in it, that's why your singaw heals fast.

There are two kinds of herpes simplex viri, from the herpesvirus family: Herpes Simplex Virus Type I, which is what I think you have, and Herpes Simplex Virus Type II, the genital herpes you're associating it with. These two are different organisms, although they're related. Usually, type I is caught during childhood years, and the primary infection is inapparent. The reason why it appears on the corners of your mouth is because the virus resides and stays latent on the 5th cranial nerve, which supplies the mouth area. The second type is caught via sexual contact...unless, of course, you've had oral-genital sex with someone who has the 2nd type; the 2nd type of virus can also cause oral sores, but it's a bit rarer. I'm more inclined to think you have the first type.
Thanks for the compliments, but really, while there are some bad apples in the PEx barrel, a lot of posters who I've met are really decent, intelligent people, so I don't think I'm too good for PEx.
Merry Christmas.

My esteemed Dr. Ira
Of all the THREE TYPES OF IRAs I know, undoubtedly, YOU are the best.
The IRAs of Ireland as we current-event-nerds know are bad. My IRAs (Investment Retirement Accounts) earn, when I'm overly lucky in my stocks prognostications, at best 17%, like the last 3 years or so. At that rate my retirement booty, considering inflation, among other negative factors, might last only about 50 years. Kawawa naman ang Secretary ko na 24 years lang.
You are the 3rd type of IRA. The best among the three, to repeat. No elucidation, explanation necessary. It's all over the PEX board, I mean, the "kitang-kitang ebidensya".
Back to business, after the commercial break.
These herpes viri surprise me really. They even have types. And based on your clear discourse, I can glean, crystally, that I got it from the THIRD TYPE.
No 3rd type from your classif, yeah. But what I mean by the THIRD TYPE is my Sexretary. I must have gotten that particular virus from her. We had done "IT" a coupla times, between repeating unheard dictation and erasing spelling errors. In retrospect, it now appears that she was the "carrier".
Why did I say that? Listen, please.
When I hired her, she was not that good in secretarial skills. Poor grammar, slow typing, inadequate shorthand. (Although her right hand was fast, that I was sure!). She's so bad that every draft of corres she did needed three revisions. No wordprocessors then, so she always needed at least three typings.
That's where she got the office sobriquet: THIRD TYPE.
And that's where I obviously got it!
I gotta go. I gotta delete this now-very-experienced Sexcretary of mine.
Thank you once again, Dr. Ira.

BTW, that thing about you being "too big" for PEX "britches" was not a knock on the Boarders or the PEX itself. Far from it.
What I meant was when we have such a good thing -- in the medical field that would be those vaccines, sera and penicillins that have proved too good for mankind -- it would redound to the greatest good of the greatest number to profit from it. To expand the application. The use.
Like your medical expertise. Getz?

By oral-genital I meant that you have performed oral sex on her, not the other way around. If you have also had the normal genital-genital sex, then you would have also experienced symptoms on your private parts. If you've had both kinds of sex and you only have cold sores, it's probably just herpes simplex I. Anyway, type I is very very common, compared to type II. So no need to blame the secretary. :)
Thanks again for the compliment. Just doing my job.

Yes?

And no stat will be added to the NY unemployment chart. My Sexcretary keeps her job. Excluding the blow. (Just kidding, pipols. Baka may Pare/Madre dyan.)
BTW, Doc, what you said above piques my curiosity and interest.
Thanks for the compliments, but really, while there are some bad apples in the PEx barrel, a lot of posters who I've met are really decent, intelligent people, so I don't think I'm too good for PEx. (emphasis supplied)
In which category would you place me... the bad, the good, the ugly? (Hey, Clint...! Make my day!)

Doctora Ira,
That ranks as one of my most memorable "visits" to a doctor's office.
(Why do they call it "office," not clinic, BTW?).
Hows about Miss Saigon or CATS on Broadway, then an after-theater dinner at the Four Seasons on 57th, followed by a late evening stroll on Avenue of the Americas. And perhaps a good night's "sleep" at Marriott's in Times Square?
Para naman ako makabayad sa utang!
If okay, a 28-foot stretch limo will pick you up from your place to the NAIA. Where a Concorde will be waiting, already revving up its engines. That will deposit you to Kennedy Airport in Queens. From where a heli will haul you and your Mom (as sitcharon... I mean, sorry, chaperon) to the 34th Street helipad. From there, another limo, longer and bigger than the first, will send you up to a reserved penthouse suite on Trump Tower, in front of the Marcoses' gold-encrusted Crown Building on 5th Avenue. Careful in closing the door, because Michael Jackson and his babies are sleeping next door to the right, and to the left, The Donald and his current squeeze (Melissa Knauss) are probably working on their 4th orgasm of the night!
Sleep well. See your tom evening.
Waddaya say?

wAgKaNgMaKuLiT: That's normal. Canker sores (which is the English lay term for singaw) result from an altered local immune response associated with stress, trauma (from braces, pustiso, retainers, toothbrush, etc.), or local irritants, such as eating acidic foods. Hayaan mo lang siya; it'll disappear on its own. :)

Sorry bunny, you'd have to ride that one out. There's really no cure for the normal singaw. You can try Pyralvex though, just brush it over the singaw a few times a day, and it will numb the pain.

what do you think is the most effective medicine for "singaw" sa mouth ?
Ira
Jun 27, 2003, 03:54 AM
Do you wear braces? If so, then you'll have to deal with recurrent singaws till you get them off, unfortunately. You can try gargling with Betadine mouthwash to decrease the risk of infection, or maybe apply Pyralvex to the affected area to lessen the soreness, but they will not lessen your chances of getting stomatitis.

You can use antibacterial gargles like Bactidol or Betadine gargles 3x a day. Pyralvex applied locally to the singaw will also give you some relief from symptoms.

Singaw is one of the symptoms of Chicken Pox and I believe some STD's.
Question: sabi ng Mrs. ko, when I use Pyralvex for my singaw, it makes it worse daw cause I pull down my lower lip and in a way "open up" the wound further daw.
I apply my pyralvex by tapping the wound a few times with tissue to dry it up and then place a pinch of rock salt and then while tears are streaming down my cheeks coz of the pain, I will top it off with pyralvex, I will then pass out cold because of the unbearable pain. =)
Try niyo.

Singaw due to weak immune system... (sakitin, or just plain 'I-can't-ward-off-some-viruses)..that's called RAS or Reccurent Apthous Stomatitis. This is your garden variety common singaw. This will heal by itself eventually after a few days.
Now what I've read from your case history, dear Micky, mukhang TRAUMATIC ULCER yung tawag dun sa cases mo:
ex: Getting your gums hit by your toothbrush; and accidentally biting your lip are classic examples. Since alam mo naman may tendency ka, next time brush carefully. When you insert your brush into the sides of your mouth (for example between the side teeth and the cheek), don't be in such a hurry, be conscious of your movements. If you think your brushing is too hard or you think you may have a heavy grip, either slow it down or try holding the brush with the thumb and forefinger lang.
I don't recommend tawas or salt. Lalo lang sumasakit. But I guess some people are into that sort of thing... yung pleasure-pain thing, that is. ;)
Sometime, pwede ka rin mag salt-water rinse...just to relieve the symptoms.

about my singaw naman,oo gumagaling din pero minsan inaabot ng two weeks the most,as in lumalaki, parang kasing laki na ng corn minsan, syempre sobrang sakit, hindi ko talaga tinatry yung asin kasi very painful, ayoko din ng tawas, nung medyo bata pa ako,ang gamot ng mom ko na nilalagay eh yung kulay violet, yung pang baby, pero sometimes wala ng effect sa akin, kaya ngayon self medication na lang ako, ginagamitan ko sya ng lip balm, pero hindi yung regular na lip balm, parang ointment sya,so far napapadali naman yung paggaling, pero sympre, uncomfy pa rin ako, kasi nga minsan thrice a month,as in sobrang kakahassle na :(,Kung sakitin naman,i'm not literally sakitin, but I must say "singawin", as in!!!kakainis:rolleyes:

hehe, thanks for the advice eyedoc, nakakainis kasi ang singaw eh. Parang I want it to be gone as soon as possible and the more painful the procedure the perception is the faster it will heal. di ba totoo?

Mickey2000 - Baka naman you keep touching the area with your tongue kaya di gumagaling? Hayaan mo lang siya. Repeated trauma will make it heal slower.
"Ulcer" is really another term for open wounds. The one people are most familiar with is peptic ulcer, which occurs in the GI tract. Ulcers, however, may be found in corneas of the eyes and, of course, the mouth (as singaw). Traumatic ulcer means there's trauma involved, like hitting or biting your mouth.
MeAko - No. It's not true that the more painful the procedure the faster the healing. :)

hi ako din sobra singawin. I'm actually still recovering from a really big big stomatitis. This is the first time na umabot na sa neck ko yun pain coz i kept on biting the area (cnt help it, tumubo sha sa alanganin spot) . I wasnt eating and speaking properly, affected lahat , pati mood ko! Hayy..such a simple problem but it sure caused a lot of discomfort on my part. I tried all medications..lahat from bactidol, pyralvex, difflam at pain relievers.. IT WAS HELL and still is.
Doc, any other medications na pde i-numb yung singaw ko..?

Debacterol is a chemical cauterizing agent applied by dentist which chemically burns apthous sores. The area is dried then the medication applied. For the first two seconds of application, you will feel pain.....a lot of pain. After two seconds, the area would go numb and take on a whitish hue.
Once cauterized, the area would no longer feel any sensation even when it is touched. In three to five days, healthy tissue will reform.
This medication should only be applied by dentists. You may want to take an analgesic prior to the application of this medication.
Recurrent apthous stomatitis, as its name implies, tends to reappear in the future even when treated.

Pyralvex is an offer-the-counter med. I'm not sure if it's available in the states but I'm sure there's a good equivalent. It's just palliative though (relieves pain) and is not that proven to actually help heal the ulcer.

:bawling: Huuhuuuhuuuuu! This topic has been tackled so many times and I can't find the thread!!!
Your regular garden variety singaw is called a Recurrent Apthous Ulcer. You know... the ones that appear for no reason. Some experts say that stress can increase the incidence of singaw, or the patient is just immuno-compromised (not enough vitamins... :D)
Treatment: NONE. It'll go away by itself within 2 weeks. Treatment is only palliative, meaning, you just treat it just so it doesn't hurt.
There are lots of kinds of other SINGAWS, like Traumatic ulcer (for example you jabbed your gilagid with a toothbrush), or singaws caused by other diseases like herpes, etc. It depends on the patient's other systemic illness or general health.
Moderator: Please file this under the FAQs thread , thanks.

Mouth sores are commonly known as canker sores.
What Can You Do About Them?
First, What are canker sores?
Canker sores are shallow, painful sores in your mouth. They are usually red or may sometimes have a white coating over them. You might get them on the inside of your lips, the insides of your cheeks or under your tongue. Canker sores are different from fever blisters, which usually are on the outside of your lips or the corners of your mouth.
Anyone can get canker sores, but people in their teens and 20s get them more often. Canker sores may run in families, but they aren't contagious. Doctors don't know what causes canker sores, but stress may be a factor.
What should I do when I get canker sores?
If you have small canker sores you can treat them at home. You can try taking ibuprofen (brand name: Advil) or acetaminophen (brand name: Tylenol) for pain. Other medicines, such as Anbesol, Oragel, Orabase and Zilactin-B, might keep your canker sores from becoming irritated by eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. You put these medicines right on the sore.
You can also mix equal amounts of Milk of Magnesia and Benadryl Allergy liquid. After it's mixed, you can swish a teaspoonful in your mouth for about 1 minute and then spit it out. If you do this every 4 to 6 hours, your canker sores may hurt less.
Some people think that sucking on zinc lozenges, taking vitamin C or vitamin B complex, using a sage-and-chamomile mouthwash or taking a lysine supplement helps their canker cores heal faster.
When should I call my family doctor about canker sores?
If your canker sores are large, last longer than a week or are so sore that you can't eat, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. You should make an appointment with your doctor, too, if you also have a fever or feel sick when you have canker sores.
What can my doctor do to help my canker sores?
Several prescription medicines may help with canker sores. Your doctor may prescribe an anti-inflammatory (Aphthasol or Kenalog in Orabase) or collagenase inhibitor (Tetracycline or Peridex) if problems persist. You can talk about them with your doctor to decide what is best for you.
What's the right way to use the medicine for my canker sores?
You may be asked to "swish and swallow" or "swish and spit" the medicine. This means that you swish the medicine around in your mouth, especially around your canker sore, for a few minutes before swallowing or spitting it out.
If your doctor has you use a medicine to put on the canker sore, you should dry the sore with a tissue. Next, put a small amount of medicine on a cotton swab (like a Q-Tip). Then, put the medicine on your canker sore using the cotton swab. Don't eat or drink for 30 minutes. If you do, the medicine will be washed away. Be sure to use the medicine for as many days as your doctor tells you to.
What can I do to prevent canker sores?
Unfortunately, doctors don't know of anything that prevents canker sores from forming. However, using a toothpaste that does not contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and other irritating ingredients (one brand name: Squigle), avoiding hard or crunchy foods and chewing gum, and getting enough sleep at night may help reduce mouth irritation.
I use Colgate because Crest with Tartar Protection contains sodium lauryl sulfate.

Caveat: This provides a general overview on this topic and may not apply to everyone. If you get canker sores often, or if they're very painful, talk to your family doctor

Hi PEX doctors. I often have cold sores (singaw) which are really irritating and cause difficulty and pain during eating. What's the best cure for cold sores? What can I do to avoid having recurring cold sores? Thanks.
By the way, if one has frequent cold sores, is this a symptom that he/she can be sick of something else?

first of all, singaw are NOT cold sores. singaw are CANKER SORES or MOUTH ULCERS
the most effective is alum or tawas. apply a very small amount on the singaw and leave it for about 1 minute then gargle. you can do it everynight. pero ako, i just do it for one night, ang then wait for it to be totally painless (2 days the most)
of course, mahapdi talaga siya! pero super effective!
when you wake up, sobrang LESS na ang pain. when u wake up the next day, PAINLESS na yan! as in really, painless na siya. just wait for it to disappear na lang.
i swear by tawas, mas mabuti kung habang maliit pa lang yung singaw para next day agad, wala na yan!

@talipandas9:
I'm not completely sure, but I think what you have are not cold sores but Recurrent Apthous Ulcers.
These things usually go away in 1 to 2 weeks.
Treatment is palliative ( you try and alleviate the symptoms felt). Do try pyralvex as it will help.
Drink a lot of water, the lining of our mouth more readily succumbs to injury when it is dry.
If you want your mouth examined, go ahead and see an ENT.

What in layman's term is a recurrent aphthous ulcer? Sounds frightening.
My current "singaw" has been bothering me for almost 2 weeks already. I'm surprised it's still there after almost 2 weeks since almost all my previous canker sores don't last for more than a week.
Can you recommend a good ENT for me? Sad to say, my ENT for almost 10 years has already moved on -- to the next life.

hi. i used to be pestered with singaw, especially at the onset of my menstrual period. before, i used pyralvex and supplemented this with frequent use of bactidol or listerine. pero masakit talaga ang pyralvex. (ouch!)
my sister brought home from the US a sort of ointment made for cold sores. parang tinatakpan nya yung singaw itself by coating it and then numbing it a little. but i dont' think it's available here kaya when it ran out, ayun. wala na rin akong medication.
but i discovered a nice and effective solution to singaws, especially pag maliit pa lang siya and to stop it from progressing.
put some listerine (any color) on a piece of cotton tapos put it over your singaw for a few minutes, several times a day (kahit siguro 3x). i noticed that this prevented the sore from growing bigger and lumiit siya instead. in 2 days, the singaw was gone.
of course, brush your teeth after every meal and make sure to gargle and floss. the less bacteria in your teeth, the less risk for infection. ;)

i've been having mouth sores since i was a kid. that's why we always have a bottle of Pyralvex in our medicine cabinet. :) pero ang hapdi niya talaga!!!! :(
i discovered a great way to prevent a mouth sore from growing bigger. once i discover a mouth sore developing, i dab a cotton ball [maybe half of the ball lang] with Listerine and dab it on the sore itself for a few minutes. i do this several times a day. Listerine is an antiseptic and the result is the sore doesn't grow any bigger and heals faster. :)
better and a little painless than pyralvex. :)

Zinc is actually not a vitamin. It's a mineral.
Recurrent apthous stomatitis is self-limiting and tends to go away in 1 to 2 weeks. Drinking a lot of water and keeping your mouth clean will be very helpful.
Not all mouth ulcers that occur in the mouth are your typical "singaw", as other conditions such as auto-immune disorders can manifest mouth ulcers.
When in doubt, consult your dentist and your physician.

With regards to one of the mouth sore remedies mentioned here, watermelon frost, one article warns of the possible relation between using watermelon frost and developing mercury intoxication:
Mercury intoxication with tics as the only manifestation has never been reported in the literature. The “Watermelon Frost” that our patient took contained 878 ppm of mercury, mainly in the inorganic form. Although methylmercury constituted only 2% of total mercury
in the CMH preparation, the content was 18 times the action level of mercury in food as proposed by the Food and Drug Administration.3 This high mercury intake, together with the temporal association between symptom onset and increased blood mercury level, and the subsequent resolution of symptoms with normalisation of mercury concentration, make chronic mercury poisoning the most likely culprit.
from here: Mercury intoxication presenting with tics (http://adc.bmj.com/cgi/reprint/83/2/174.pdf) (The article was written by Chinese doctors)

For most cases the cause is unknown. Sometimes it can be due to trauma (e.g. accidental bite).

bibig mo talaga yan kuya? nagkaroon na ako ng ganyan kalaking singaw dati at napakasaket. uminom ka ng vitamin C! helps in tissue repair and boosts the immune system para hindi lumala inpeksyon... :D

^ Good evening. You're most likely biting your cheek. This has something to do with how your upper and lower second molars are positioned. This can also occur if you have fat cheeks.
For now, you can apply Pyralvex on the area for temporary relief. Please visit a dentist and have the positioning of your upper second molar ( and perhaps your upper third molar) checked. One or the other may be buccoverted ( tilted forward and facing the inside of your cheek, causing it to scratch your cheek repeatedly when you chew).
If it's the upper third molar (wisdom tooth) that is causing it, I would suggest having your upper third molar removed if possible ( it can be removed if your upper first and second molars are present, as two molars per quadrant is enough).

^^ yes po, kapag nagkakasingaw ako eh madalas sa may cheek. ngayon lang talaga lumala nang ganito. the thing that i'm worried about is that my lower jaw is also kind of painful; pero not in the part where mumps originate. yung part ng jaw na nasa baba ng singaw ang masakit (hope i made sense). i'm already applying Pyralvex to the sore, and up until now, hindi pa rin lumiliit yung sore.
waaaaa.. nakakatakot po, baka kasi nagkaroon na ng infection or something because of that mouth sore.

Nov 11, 2007, 08:48 PM
ay may mumps ka din? VItamin C nga! viral kase cause nun. baka kaya nakakagat mo pisngi mo kasi maga yung pisngi mo.

^Good morning. As I've mentioned, please have your upper teeth checked. For now, that's the only practical solution I can think of, unless you want to live with the sore for the rest of your life.
Patingin ka na please sa dentist para matapos na problema mo.

^I see. Your sore will probably disappear in 1 or 2 weeks. If you can't wait that long, perhaps you can visit your dentist and inquire if they have Debacterol ( it's an anti-sore medication).
Debacterol comes in liquid form and is applied directly on the sore. Once the medicine is applied, you will feel an intense burning sensation, it may or may not bring you to tears. The discomfort lasts around one to two seconds, it will then be followed by a sensation of quick relief.
Can't give you a price range for debacterol as the manufacturers have repackaged the product. Just ask your dentist.

^ You're very welcome :). Perhaps, according to my cousin who happens to be an oral surgeon, mouth sores can also be induced by stress. For example, you took a long flight from the U.S. to the Philippines, the stress of travelling can result in mouth sores, according to her ( it happened to her husband).

Sep 4, 2008, 12:34 PM
^ Dengue? You sure? I almost died because of dengue, please see your doctor ASAP. Regarding "singaw", some experts claim their occurence may be related to stress. Are you stressed right now? Biting your lips often may lead to wounds...which could then become ulcers (singaw)
baby_pancake
Sep 5, 2008, 11:42 AM
really it could be ulcer? kasi son ko always has singaw 4 yo palang and lasi din siya may stomachache (almost evry month -- as in -- its lasts for 5 days bago mawala sakit) been giving him motillium....

^ Not quite sure with the alcohol, but the heat from smoking can irritate the soft lining of your gums, cheeks and tongue.

^ Try Pyralvex. You paint the solution on your mouth sores from time to time.
Drinking water more often will help minimize you developing sores since you have braces.

Siguro after 3 hrs ko tinatangal yung cotton. Then kinabukasan wala na yung sakit. Mahal nga lang, 600 pesos per 5g tube.
