On our journey to find greener pasture…one final step is getting/having an interview or series of it. During this stage we’ve encountered lots of stories to tell…
Funny, fury and bitter stories about the company, the interviewer, the co-applicants or you… yourself.
Share your story…..

One liner that i really hate so much is when the interviewer starts the interview by saying:
DESCRIBE (or SAY SOMETHING ABOUT) YOURSELF
the phrase just means that the interviewer is not prepared, he has not read your resume and he doesn't know what to ask.

I politely disagree wahsel. That question is one of the most important questions in an interview. It allows the interviewer to get a first impression of the applicant. I think applicants should not take this question lightly and prepare for a good answer to it. When the interviewer asks you to tell him/her something about yourself, the applicant should take the opportunity to market himself/herself right away. Failing to do so can jeopardize one's chances.
Almost all interviews start with this question. It doesn't necessarily mean that the interviewer is unprepared. On the part of the applicant, don't just say ANYTHING about yourself. Describe yourself in a way that will emphasize your skills and strengths for the position you are applying for.
On a sidenote, I believe in my whole job search that the only time this wasn't one of the questions asked from me is my interview with a management consulting firm. But that's another story ;)

ako ang hate ko sa interviews pag tinanong na yung.....
*** can u offer to our company... it should have been in the resume` and the interviewer should asked questions upang malaman nya if the candidate have what he's looking for.
another thing is.... di marunong sumunod sa oras. i hate waiting for hours. bkit magse set ng appointment kung sila available that time. nasasayang tuloy oras ko. :)

the worst interview i had was with a HR personnel of a big IT firm in Makati... ang sarap umbagan sa mukha. nakakapang-init ng ulo! paulitulit ng tanong... kakasabi mo pa lang, mayamaya, uulitin ulit yung tanong. well, i understand it was part of their strategy para malaman kung nag-iimbento lang ng kwento yung interviewee... pero, for heaven's sake, i just wish they stop acting like *****es... cutting you off on your answers just to go back to their previously answered question. talk about being polite. ****!

on my nephew's first job interview... the interviewer asked him what his weakness was... and he answered "Babae."... as expected, he didn't get the job... hmm, i don't think that my nephew is that stupid though... he just took the interview lightly...

IMHO, interviewers ask open-ended questions for them to know how fluent and how quick witted the applicant is. Those questions should be a cue for the applicant on how he would sell himself. Based on actual experience, i almost did not want an applicant be taken because his answer to the question "Describe yourself' was..."i am good"--exactly how good is good?I am therefore given the impression that this applicant can't really speak for himself. Anyway, that was a panel interview and majority of my colleagues wanted him in....now, i am still wary working with him. I do not know with other interviewers but, I do look for leadership qualities in applicants--so that we could pave the way for them to go up the ranks in the future.

i had an interview a few weeks ago...the guy was a senior manager already...he told me he's going to get the GM and COO to interview me in 2 weeks time...it's been 1 month already. No call...while I know they're busy with opening new stores and it's not easy to get the GM and COO's sked together, should I still "expect" he'll still call? If he's not interested naman, he could have just said "wait for the next call" or something, not giving you something to look forward to...
i hate it when those HR people feel they're soo powerful because your application depends on how they assess you...and I hate it when they make people wait for soo long and come back again and again...sana they can be considerate enough naman, and not think that the applicant is desperate so he's willing to endure everything...

One month since the last interview ? It doesn't look good. If they really wanted you, they would have moved within a week after the last interview.
You should have called the senior manager exactly two weeks after as he had promised, just to remind him of what he said or at the very least, ask what's the status.
Don't let it get you down. Move on.

well, if they weren't really interested, why did he have to drop a specific date? he wanted to see if i was desperate for that job by calling him to follow up? i read before that it is not really good to follow-up your application..

There's a fine line between wanting a job and being desperate. There is also a trait called assertiveness.
Calling up a day or two after the interview seems desperate. Calling up two weeks, as the senior manager specified, is more than reasonable. I personally call up a week after any interviews I take.
The problem with good interviews is that even they can go stale - more so if they are interviewing other candidates after you.
Its been one month. Have you bothered to call up even today ? Let us know what the manager's answer is - if he still remembers you.

True story 'to.
My first job was with a real estate company and I was a fresh College graduate. I was with Human Resources so I did the interviews. I interviewed a beautiful lady for a sales position, she was smart and all, but she was already married with a child at the age of 20.
My big boss (the VP, a Chinese-Filipina) asked me to ask during the interview this question:
"Are you using any Family Planning methods"?
Kasi daw, sabi ng VP, she doesn't want the girl to be pregnant again if she's already working for us.
Ayun, because I obeyed my boss, I did ask.
Hindi na nagpakita pa yung girl for the successive interviews. Siguro nadismaya sa tanong ko.

what if na-interview ka na ng HR, then nung magiging immediate boss mo tapos ni-sked ka pa for an interview with the COO or GM of the company, what does this mean? ano chances na ma-reject ka pa din?

The most memorable (and hated) job interview I had was when I was told to wait for 40mins and they only interviewed me for 20mins. It was really sad, because the company was international known and to be managed by such poor professionals. :~(

I just love comparing interviews from companies outside Pinas to companies in Pinas. Most companies outside Pinas ask you how good are you, are you capable, and are you willing. Sa Pinas, they have the tendency to ask: "May girlfriend or boyfriend ka ba?" Nosy. Ain't that supposed to be my business?

if you are applying for a customer service position, eto usually ang tinatanong...
what is good customer service?
may nagturo sakin na up til now, i find it to be a very powerful answer whenever may stories about interviews...
meeting and exceeding customer's expectations
kung baga sa r&b song, ito ay dilemma ni nelly... sobrang gasgas na pero huli pa rin ang kiliti ng interviewer... that is, if the interviewer knows what he or she is looking for...
tapos ang boxing... alien? alien!!!
