Are there any food that your employer has banned from ever heating up in the Microwave due to various reasons.

I dunno if it's universal but pretty much every place that I've worked, Popcorn is a definite no-no..

I've had crazy co-workers who decided to bring fish from last evening's dinner and nuke it up in the microwave!

Damn! Restrictions on popcorn? Wow! And we even have our Antioch of Popcorn. Lemme see, I've brought in balot, dilis, and dried squid. They didn't mind.

The only risk I see in microwave popcorn at work is that the aroma spreads throughout the office and everyone wants to get up to locate the source and grab a handful. It is sometimes disruptive. Especially the Reddenbacher brand.

I think restrictions on balot should apply. Balot (and eggs from chickens) can blow up in the microwave and create a really ugly mess which no one wants to clean up.

Sounds like a face hugger just jumped out from it's egg in the movie ALIEN. Yeah, I do bring balot to work from time to time but not necessarily nuke the egg. Since hot water is not available, best way to go around it is just heat up a cup of water and just dunk the egg in there when it's done. The yanks I work with don't mind. In fact, they find it rather interesting to know that humans can really consume anything, even if it looks rather disgusting. At least when I eat balot, they don't have to check my e-mails for wrong spelling nor do I have to raise the pinky finger to make a sophisticated statement. :D

I guess you haven't experienced smelling burnt popcorn. The offending emanation spreads throughout the entire floor, and even as far as our visitor's lobby. Burned popcorn is not a pleasant smell...:ayaw:

No banned food here so far. We have a rather interesting microwave here. It's kind of masochistic. You have to bang the door shut to make it work :glee:

true about the popcorn.. it's not really STINKY.. it's just got that awesome, distinct smell that gets everyone talking......

a friend of mine works at this LAB where most of the workers are Filipino. She gets constantly embarassed 'coz they bring in bagoong, tuyo, daing, etc.... I can just imagine.. The company haven't posted memos yet regarding this though..
