Mefenamic acid is an anti-inflammatory/analgesic. You can take 500 mg 3x a day safely even for a couple of weeks.

Please see a dentist if the pain becomes too intense that it already affects your work.

What are the other causes of toothache ba, aside from the usual sirang ngipin, impacted tooth, etc.? Can it be psychological or stress-related?

Similar to a car, a tooth has a "shock-absorbing" system. Whenever we chew, tremendous amounts of force are generated. A need arises for a means to distribute or dissipate this force in the mouth.
The tooth is connected to the bone holding it by a system of fibers (imagine several telephone cords clumped together) called the Periodontal ligament (the tooth’s shock-absorber) and by the Gingiva (gums).
If too much force is generated, such as when we bite on a very hard object ( example: you use your teeth as a bottle cap opener ) or when we clench or grind our teeth as a reaction to stress (particularly at night), our teeth could hurt. The shock absorbing system of our teeth begins to fail at this instance. Our teeth were never meant to be used as container openers or for lifting weights (as you see on some extreme tv shows).
The reason we have our teeth cleaned twice a year , we brush and floss our teeth is because we want to avoid a condition known as Periodontal disease (gingivitis, periodontitis). If left unchecked, it could also result to pain.

Indeed, you can take mefenamic acid four times a day or every six hours. It can provide temporary relief of pain but it won't eliminate the aching sensation of the tooth.
Please see a dentist immediately if the pain becomes unbearable.

Good day Bea. 250 mg of mefenamic acid is usually prescribed for individuals below the age of 14.
Taking mefenamic acid for 1 month to desensitize a tooth is not a practical nor an effective means of relieving discomfort.
I must inform you that this is certainly NOT something taught at dental schools. Long term use of mefenamic acid could lead to the manifestation of more side effects, such as the irritation of your stomach.

I have an asthma. It triggers before bedtime and at the middle of the night. Medyo madalas ako atakahin ngayon, gabi gabi na nga eh. Im taking ventolin tab. Is there any harmful effect taking this almost everyday?
Go ahead and take it. If you take it as directed, there is very little side effect even if you take it daily on a long-term basis.
