Firstly, are you sure that you are really suffering from constipation? How often do you defecate nowadays?

You don't have to be able to defecate everyday, contrary to popular belief. If you were able to move your bowels 3 times a week, that's still OK.

In the meantime, continue making sure that you have enough fiber in your diet.

How often do you normally defacate when you aren't pregnant? Some degree of constipation is expected during pregnancy, and there are other types of medications that can be used in lieu of Duphalac. It's just a matter of finding out what is hiyang for you. If your doctor prescribed you the Duphalac, give him/her a call and ask for it to be substituted.

doc ira.....when i am not pregnant..im taking cal mag - it really helps me..cause i can defecate everyday. But assuming im not taking this medicine......i only defecate once a week...that's why i really need to take all this medicine. I already told OB that dupphallac is not so effective for me...she said that this is the only medicine that is safe for pregnant.....hope u can help me...Is it true that aloe vera helps to solve constipation???

Season, thanks for the respond.....im taking all these fiber food and drinks but unfortunmately nothing happens.

I don't know about aloe vera, but ask her if you can take calcium/magnesium if that helped you before. There is a belief that calcium can cause constipation though, although that is not substantiated with research. I don't see any contraindication for that, but your ob-gyne may think otherwise.
