hi ppl. i need help.
see, my sister and my close friends are throwing me a baby shower. all they want me to do is create a gift registry, either at rustan's or at maxibear. so that they can include it na sa invitations.

thing is, i wanna know if there are other stores that offer gift registries for baby stuff besides rustan's and maxibear. do you know of any? and an online gift registry would be more convenient. suggestions please! thanks! :*)

i don't know if there are any online, but baby & co. also has a baby registry. they have a shop in powerplant (on the second floor, same side as the cinemas) and one in podium. the good thing about this baby registry business is (at least in baby & co.) they'll give you a bunch of discount coupons that you can give to the people who'll be buying the gifts, or, you can always use them yourself. ;)

Thanks you guys!

tortangpagong, I was wondering about Baby & Co. Kaso I haven't ventured there pa. It's far kasi from where I live. I live in Parañaque pa kasi. Pero I'll take a peek soon.

sodemntough, meron nga ang rustan's. but i don't like kasi their selection that much eh. thanks though.

Toy Kingdom also has a gift registry. I think it's more helpful for your kid's birthday party but then depende na rin sa tastes mo diba? :)

oh, we also went to the department store in sm megamall, and there was a whole section called baby & co... i'm not so sure if it's the same baby & co. (but i think it is cause they had the same brands and prices) ...so i was thinking maybe they have it in other sm stores like southmall.. at least that would be easier for you to visit... good luck! :)

i'll let you guys know as soon as i register! :*)

so far, these are the stores i've checked out:

baby and co. (powerplant) - cute ng stuff nila! if most of my friends lived in that area, this is where i would register. definitely.

rustan's alabang and rustan's makati - the baby section in rustan's alabang is sooo messy. everything's unorganized. i prefer the one in makati. pero of course, as expected, rustan's is expensive.

maxibear/maxitoylab - there is an online gift registry at maxibear.com, and merong hindi. ang na-check ko yung maxitoylab sa town center. they have cute toys! very educational toys. kaso, puro toys. walang ibang stuff.

giftregistry.com.ph - this is a good site. if only it were functioning properly. there's something wrong with it. di parin sine-send yung confimation email ko. i've tried twice. sayang kasi this site allows you to register the stuff you want, and then your guests can just text in your code, and sent it to 2333 and 2600. tapos they get your wishlist on their fone. wow. the wonders of technology.

i'm considering getting two gift registries. one in makati and one in alabang. para my friends have options. some of my friends kasi live in qc. pero most of my friends live in alabang, but they do work in makati. kaya sila nalang bahala mag-decide. :*)

whatcha guys think?

Hi flavvah! I just had my baby shower in California last weekend and it was so fun! A lot of people came with a lot of gifts, and a lot chipped in to make it such a happy occasion. My in-laws cooked the food, my sis-in-laws made/bought the souvenirs, decors (balloons) were done by my niece, and games were also prepared and hosted.

BUT one thing about registries that I learned though: Most people would go buy where it is convenient for them to shop. I had an online registry at babies r us, but they can buy gifts at the store itself too, but most of them didn't. Why? Because most of them don't trust online registries yet and they found the Babies R Us store a bit far from their place so they bought at other places instead. So there were some stuff that were doubled. So, I suggest choose a registry which is accessible to a lot of people, like SM for example. If you can't then might as well give them a Wish List and let your girl friends assign who's gonna buy which. That way they don't have to go all the way to the store where you're registered just to get the stuff. Indicate the brand so they'll know what you really want. That's what we did with my friend whom we threw a baby shower for in Manila.

Just a suggestion. Got really disappointed kasi with my baby registry, and to think this is the States already. Good thing most people gave us money too so we didn't really worry about not being able to buy the baby stuff that we need.

BTW, indicate in your invite if you're having a boy or a girl. Do you know the sex already?

Goodluck!

hi annielise! thanks for the input. i still don't know if it's a boy or a girl. :*) i am sooo dying to find out. i could've found out weeks ago! but ayaw ng hubby ko. ayaw rin ng parents ko. they want it to be a surprise! i've convinced them otherwise. kaya next friday i'm gonna go get an ultrasound.

i think the wishlist thingy is great. i'll tell my friend that instead.

thanks again! :*)

She might read this thread so... post ka lan kapatid! She wants it this month... Natatawa nga ko kse hindi sila sure OB nya kun kelan sya manganganak.. Either 2nd week of April or 1st week of May... Sabi ko sa April na lan baby shower para kun manganak na sya b4 the shower, edi un gifts namin 4 binyag na rin.. :D

Seriously, any ideas??? I've never done this before... In fact, she's the first friend of mine who's having a baby... Thanks sa help!

dapat meron kayong games. example *** lahat ng tao dun sa baby shower eh huhulaan gaano kalaki *** tyan nya. you need a long ribbon then ask the people to cut *** ribbon sa lenght na sa tingin nila eh kasinlaki ng tyan ng friend mo pag pinagdikit *** ends.

o kaya, taste test. buy some baby foods tapos pahulaan nyo kung anong flavor *** nasa jar number 1, 2 and so on...

i had a baby shower organized by my friends..

first, you have to choose a theme so that guests will bring gifts related to it. you can also register at shops like rustan's and baby and co.

there were games like what riababy mentioned, and my husband was made to drink milk from a baby bottle everytime he gives a different answer to questions i was asked previously by the organizers.. another funny game (this was in my friend's shower) is make the guys drink beer from baby bottles.. the fastest one to drink wins the game..

of course don't forget the cake.. every shower has to have a cake..

i just threw a baby shower for my friend last sunday! it was soo much fun.

of course you have to have games. one of our games was helping my friend think of a name for her baby. the name she liked best, got the prize.

another game is guessing the girth of the pregnant person.

dapat may theme para cute.

if your friend doesn't want to register sa rustan's kasi mashadong exagg for a baby shower. tell her to make a wishlist. you could distribute that along with her invitations.

hope this helps. :)

madami magandang games for baby shower.

meron yung huhulaan nyo kung ano yung nasa diaper (which would look like disgusting poopoo) like squash, mustard, strained peas etc. kung sino madami nahulaan tama sya mananalo.

i will also have a baby shower din maybe when i'm 7 months pregnant (i'm on my 4th month now). my cousin is the one who's hosting it for me. balak ko nga after the baby shower na ko mag start bumili ng gamit ni baby kasi for sure madami magreregalo..hehe.. sayang baka mag doble-doble..

we make cakes and cookies that can match your baby shower! see our website at http://www.frenchkisspastries.com/products.htm

As for venue, I suggest somebody's house might be the best place to do it. It's more intimate and probably more comfortable for mommy-to-be. I know if my friends planned one for me, I'd prefer it to be in someone's house, but maybe that's just me :)

Good gift suggestions: anything and everything useful. baby clothes, shoes, bottles, even diapers!! If you guys have the budget: cribs, baby bath tubs, car seats, etc.

hi everyone!

i have some questions about baby showers. i'm due to give birth in october (to a baby girl) and i don't really know how this thing operates. how did yours go? what did you do? when did you do it? what's the proper etiquette? are baby showers all-female events? etc.

thanks!

Hi! I need help kasi we are planning to have a baby shower.. I am 8 months on the family way and I really want to make it very special for my 1st baby.. medyo tight ang budget and would like to ask if you have any idea with regards to the food, party favors, theme, who to invite and other specifics.. I've been surfing the net with regards to baby shower and I don't know if I can adapt it with the Filipino setting.. hope to hear from you all soon..

By the way, it's a baby boy! :)

Thanx in advance!:bashful:

I'm having my baby shower this coming SUnday- April 15. Yay!! I just hope na wag muna akong manganak. I'm currently 35 weeks, but I'm measuring a bit big. My mom is the one who's throwing me the shower. It's just gonna be at my aunt's house. :)

Hubby is having his "surprise" baby shower this coming Friday courtesy of his co-workers. They invited me to attend too. I can't wait to see hubby's reaction.

hello! ;)

i'm 22 weeks pregnant and i'm holding a baby shower on the 16th of june. i was searching for different baby shower themes on the internet when i came across an idea about an "unbirthday". well, it turned out that an unbirthday celebration was something like that of a birthday but was held on a date other than the person's birthday. haha, wacky, i know. and since i still am not aware of my baby's gender (my ob suggested for me to have my 3rd ultrasound by the end of this month- at my 6th month- just to be sure that i get to find out if it's a boy or a girl), a colorful parteeh without any particular color motiff is very appropriate. :p

i have created a powerpoint presentation as an invite to be sent via email (i don't see my guests that often so it's more practical this way). it has a really fun background with multi-colored text. just what a kiddie party invitation is supposed to be like! :) on the invite, i've asked guests to wear the most colorful get-up they can pull off, and to bring the most colorful, or at least colorfully-wrapped presents they can imagine!

i also planned a menu of spaghetti w/ cheese, finger sandwiches, hotdogs w/ marshmallows, cakes, etc. pretty much the usual foodies you can expect from a traditional kiddie birthday party! i have made some party hats (and will cut up strips of crepe paper) to decorate the food table. i will also buy party hats for us to wear ourselves! haha talk about having a 2nd childhood..

i haven't put much thought into which games i'd like have (cuz i think the time will mostly be spent on chikahan and opening of gifts- yey!), but i do want to do a baby time capsule. i'm also thinking of having some videoke hehe.

i think my guests will really dig the theme because it must have been ages ago when they were invited to a party like that.

oh, as for favors, i'm thinking of distributing lootbags filled with candies and a little thank you note. simple, but very cute. :)

why are some baby showers organized by the pregnant mom na nowadays? ganun na ba uso ngayon? and noticed also that men are allowed in showers na. when i had my first baby before, it was strictly all female. sa second baby ko, may males na (my bff is a man!). hehe.

ok lang ba to throw your own baby shower? kasi kung ganun, i'll throw a dozen showers for myself! wahahahaha! :rotflmao:

Well I planned a baby shower for my friend some months back. I saw a neat little tip on baby showers on some website, forgot the name of the site though. Anyway, it was said on the site, aside from the gift, make everyone bring a pack of disposable diapers to help the would-be-mother.

So I made everyone invited bring only clothlike cover diapers size newborn or small (and mentioned the allowed brands, aside of course from their gifts). My friend was really happy that she also got diapers. She actually didn't need to buy diapers for 3 months.

Lil Sistah - im actually organizing/preparing for my own baby shower now. i just ask my sister to help me though, para naman in effect e may ibang nagpa-baby shower for me..hehehe..my sister will do the invitation and will manage the games..
my hubby told me nga na for females lang daw yung baby shower as he seen on the net..but for this time, since parang welcome home party rin for hubby (balikbayan ba, just in time for my delivery) and small get together of friends and relatives kaya ok na rin yung male and female guests.
i'm very excited na nga eh..how about you? hows your preparation?

uyy... siguro you can make guests bring (not literally) a superstition or baby care tip... pamahiin how to grow smart babies... tips on how to pacify babies... you can have them writre these on small cardstocks... and include in your baby's baby book :) you don't have to follow them naman eh...
