Wasn't sure what board to post this in. Mods, please feel free to move it or merge with a similar topic.

Will be sending books and VCDs to some relatives abroad (US and Australia). What's the best way to go about this? What if I'm just sending books (no VCDs)? Can I rely on Philpost or would it be better to use a courier? And which courier would be the safest (siguradong makakarating) and most reasonably priced choice for the above destinations? How long would it usually take for regular parcel post and for courier delivery?

Are these valuable books? If not, send by Philpost using their cheapest rate. Should take 2 months average, 3 months maximum. Pilferage usually affects inbound shipments (imports). You are exporting so you should be OK.

KD, I'm actually more worried about it getting lost in transit, if it will take that long, rather than pilferage. It's just locally published sheet music which is readily available at National, but still valuable to the receiver, of course. How about parcels with VCDs? Best option?

soulthird, is that regardless of weight? Ang mahal pala, 'no? Hindi naman kailangan next day pero ideally a month maximum, para di kami ganong nag-aalala.

I've been sending parcels wt VCD/CDs abroad for 4 years now using our local post (the cheap one) and I had no complaints from the receiving end so far...

Good for exporters! :)

How do you pack the CD's, to keep them intact in cheap transit?

I pack them using foamed envelopes that I bought from National Bookstore. It's cheaper if you buy there rather than buy the one found in the post office. The rates will also be cheaper if you provide your own foamed envelope.

sending abroad most of the time walang blema. E drop mo ma lang sa Airport post office para wala ng sablay.

ang problema, yong mga incoming...alam mo na maraming mga usisisera dyan sa phil post office. :glee:
