If you're selling multiple products, you'll need to have
merchant account with shopping cart.
Using merchant account enables you to receive payments thru credit cards.
Tell me what specific products you'll be selling?
I could help you by giving some suggestions.
I do have my website but I am selling electronic e-books thru affilate programs.

thnx for the reply! Im planning on selling various merchandise like shoes, apparels, electronics etc.
how about if you dont have any credit cards?
btw Im familiar with buying stuff over the net (ebay) I have a credit card that time but now I dont have one anymore..
The only choice I got is VISA Electron issued by Unionbank it is an EON card. According to Unionbank it is purely an electronic card which means it is preferably for internet transactions..

Right. But on the internet, you'll be dealing with global
customers.
You should consider also MasterCard, Amex and most
international credit card, not only Visa.
Selling and buying on e-bay uses Paypal. Unfortunately,
Philippines is not included on their list.

yup.. right now I was just able to find the term Im looking.. "Payment Gateway" but Im not sure of that yet.. I read that applying for a Payment Gateway on a big commercial bank will enbale you to accept all major credit cards.. But Im wondering if how can you accept the payment and where will it go? will it go to your debit card if you have one?
I would like to ask how and what payment acceptance schemes you used to recieve payments?
thnx!

Get a business permit first. Put a real or physical office/store address on your site.

As i said earlier, I am selling electronic ebooks which
can be downloaded right after the payment.
I am using PayPal, StormPay, and Clickbank.
All commision and payments send directly to these
accounts of mine.
I am able to withdraw my funds from StormPay thru
their debit card, with a minimum
PayPal can be transfered to my HSBC bank account.

Regarding your question about debit card, it depends
on how your Payment processor provides.
If your merchant account processor provides a debit
card for their members, then they will send you all
payments thru your debit card.
Usually, they send you cheque every 30 days.
How do you plan to ship your goods to your potential buyers?
What about your inventory?
Do you think its easy for you to manage this business?
Why not consider using drop shipping?
Drop Shipping is used by middlemen and mail order firms who DO NOT STOCK INVENTORY of the products sold for future delivery through mail order, catalog and INTERNET ADVERTISING.
Middlemen send single unit orders for products to manufacturers, or major stocking distributors, who in turn drop ship the merchandise direct to the customers of the middlemen. Manufacturers providing drop shipping services can gain additional sales, shift advertising costs to middlemen, offer advertising material and reduce inventory requirements. Middlemen who initiate drop ship orders shift the risks of stocking inventory to the supply source, including storage, insurance, overhead, and personnel BY SPENDING NOTHING ON INVENTORY, until AFTER THE PRODUCT IS SOLD.
Having products drop shipped by manufacturers, allows middlemen to concentrate on sales and advertising functions, rather than stocking INVENTORY THAT IS ALREADY BEING STORED BY MANUFACTURERS. All of the costs of warehousing and the personnel needed to pick, pack and ship products are eliminated. Orders can be sent by fax or email direct to the drop shipping supply source. Small firms can compete and advertise a tremendous number of products on Internet malls, if the product supply source will drop ship. BUT NOT ALL MANUFACTURERS WILL DROP SHIP: most prefer to sell in quantity to full function middlemen who stock inventory, as products are physically shifted through the channel of distribution.

I still dont get the "drop ship" thing, I find it quite complex..
Im planning on shipping the goods by using ordinary shipping methods available here..
But Im still in the process of researching on how to put up an online store.. this includes on how does business/order shipping works, the payments etc..
My initial idea is that I put up the site (at the same time sell on auction sites) when orders are placed I'll immediately pick-up the order from the supplier or buy initial stocks then after confirmation of payment I'll send it for delivery..
What can you say? too dull? simple or it is not preferable? what is your suggestion (oh sorry for sounding too amateur) :)
Im quite interested on putting up this online store.. Im pretty much moved by the people behind zappos.com

Hi, I looked at 2checkout.com, is it applicable even if you're based in the philippines? Looking at their accepted credit cards for customer payment, aren't those US credit cards?

Right. Di available yung Paypal and StormPay sa Pinas.
Nasa Hong Kong ako ngayon, dito ako nagwo work (fulltime).
Kaya yung gamit ko Hong Kong address.
That makes me sad, RP is discriminated here.
Regarding HSBC account, you can only transfer your Paypal funds
(o yung kinita mo) sa HSBC account mo nasa registered country.
Just like my case, i can only transfer my funds in HSBC HK branch,
and not to HSBC Phils.
If you want to go selling products (especially ebooks), thru
affiliate programs you can join clickbank.com. Everytime you make
sale, you get 15-75% commission, and your check arrives twice a
month.
Hope that one helps! :)

interesting! Is managing an e-business a full-time affair? Or pwede ka pa ring magkaroon ng ibang trabaho?
