yeah ang taas ng possibility na pwedeng magkaroon ng defects yung baby. Kaya sana payuhan mo na siyang tumigil, not only for the baby, but for her too.

What kind of problems depend on the type of drugs that your cousin is taking. Even legal, prescription and non-prescription drugs may cause problems on the fetus, especially during the first trimester of the pregnancy.
You have to strongly advise your cousin to stop taking ALL meds, legal and otherwise, unless it is prescribed by her OB or another doctor. I am afraid for her baby, though, if she hasn't stopped in her first 3 months as this is the stage where the most damage may be done.

What drugs are we talking about here? Has she stopped taking them, and if not, how often does she use them?

If she really is still using shabu and will use it for the duration of her pregnancy, it increases the risk of abortion. If she manages to keep the baby fullterm, its possible side effects on the developing fetus may be central nervous system abnormalities, facial abnormalities like cleft palate, cardiovascular system abnormalities, intestinal abnormalities, urogenital system abnormalities, and malformations of the extremities. The baby may be underweight and have a slower growth and maturation. It may also impair learning and memory, may increase seizure susceptibility and may affect the sexual behavior of the child.
If she really is still actively using shabu (you better be sure first, a suspicion is not enough), your family may want to consider putting her under involuntary confinement in a psychiatric ward to dry her out and prevent her from harming the fetus further.
