Hello people!

I hope you can help with my problem here..I have been working in a call center for almost 2 years now and prior to that I was hired as a contractual in a Real Estate company as my first job. I don't see any future in my company or in any call center for that matter since there hundreds of call center has been sprouting every month..

Now, when I ask myself what I would like to do or what would interest me..the first thing that comes up to my mind is travelling (well who doesnt like to travel and get paid for it huh?) Could you give me some ideas on what companies can i apply to?

My second choice would be in Human Resources. The problem is, I am a Business Management graduate, I had psychology units back then but when I was studying I wasn't really that interested with the topics discussed. Now, I am regretting my decisions :(

Can someone please advise me on this? Or is someone there going thru the same dilemma as mine?

Thanks!

Some industries that involve quite a bit of traveling:

IT Services - For firms like Soluziona, Accenture, Headstrong, etc. that have regional/international clients. Offshore assignments can last for months.

Consumer Products Brand Management - Usually involves a lot of local travel since BMs would have to meet with distributors and retailers in the provinces.

International Organizations - Agencies like the UN, UNESCO, UNDP etc. have offices in a multitude of countries.

Foreign Service - You'll have to take a gov't exam.

Keep in mind, however, that the burden will be on you to justify to your desired industry/company why they should hire you coming from another background. I don't think admitting that you are not happy in your present job will help since it might make you look indecisive (aka. if you're not happy w/ your present job, how sure are they that you'll be happy in the one you're applying to?). Take some time to identify a specific target industry and get to know it very well. Attend industry conferences and network with professionals.

The best approach would be to get a referral or endorsement from a friend in one of your desired companies. You may have to start out in a low-level job/internship first to demonstrate your skills before taking in more responsibilities - kind of like a one step back/two steps forward approach.

IT Industry--really impossible for me because im not a techie person, or should i say im not that interested in that fiedl, if i was i would have taken a Computer Course. One IT person in the family is enough for me :D

I'd have to check in with my old classmates and friends first if I could get an endorsement/referral.. I hope I could.. wish me luck!

What about the others out there?

Some hotel companies may also offer opportunities to work abroad. Marriott, for example, has a US-based training program where one can get staffed in a US hotel for 2 years. I do not know how the application process works, however.

just go through with it... if you're not happy, just quit and get some time off to reflect on what you really want...

i was in the steel industry before... with a high position in the company with a big salary and all the perks that came with it but i wasn't happy so i took some time off...

now, i'm in the consumer goods industry working in both the supplier and retail chain of things... it's made me happy... but when i started here 3 years ago, i had to start at the bottom which was like hell... even had to mop & scrub floors for a bit...

I've had the same problem before but I got out of
the job a few months after I realized that my future
was bleak in that company/industry.

- Think of what you would really like to do and
decide if that career is the one that will really make
you happy or satisy your needs in the long term.

- If the career you've chosen doesn't require technical skills,
then find a commonground to your current job and
your chosen career. Identify your transferrable skills.

Otherwise, you might consider taking additional units or
short term courses to increase your knowledge.

- Follow the functional type of resume when you update it.
In this way, your transferrable skills are highlighted.

- During the interview proper, just be honest and be positive
in your responses and show your enthusiasm.

"If you want something so bad. It's like the rest of the world
will conspire in your favor. It is the possibility of realizing dreams
that makes life interesting. " - The Alchemist

Goodluck! :)

up for this thread.

since UNESCO was mentioned above...pareho lang ba yung Unesco National Commission of the Philippines sa UNESCO talaga? I have an interview kasi tomorrow dun (for employment), sa may DFA sa Pasay? Pero nalilito ako kasi parang *** UNCP is 1 department lang ng DFA natin, ano ba talaga?

What is it like to work for Unesco National Commission of the Phil.?

Sana someone can answer my query.

thanks.
