Citibank has been calling me to offer all sorts of stuff from loans to insurance and every product they have.

I'm just worndering if it is just me or you also get this.

I am a good payer of my citibank credit card and as a consequence and PENALTY, I always is a part of their "good standing" clients which they harvest from their database and they use this to cross sell their products.

For the past few months, they kept on calling week after week in fact I sometimes receive 2 to 3 calls a week. And at BAD times, twice a day.

If you have a junk mail in your snail mailbox, or in your email, a lot of SPAM, then this is something similar to it.

I'm just irritated because for the past few months, I always tell the caller from Citibank or an agent of citibank to DELETE my name from their database but UNFORTUNATELY this doesn't happen yet.

They still keep on calling me up to now. IT IS SOO WASTE OF TIME to receive this calls and to think thay they offer the same product over and over again and again but the caller may be different.

I'm sure most of your working filipino experienced this too.

Let me hear it and maybe we can do something about it as a group.

Worst thing is they also call late at night pag tulog na.

So, that means that Citibank is giving out personal information to other companies.

Can we sue Citibank for giving out personal information and invasion of privacy of its clients?

Recently, Mike Enriquez of GMA7 got peeved when his Citibank card got rejected when he was purchasing something.

Ako I always say "di ako interested" but they always call back. Usually another voice. Parang meron silang list and then each name goes to an outbound caller for them to call and offer something. Pag di umubra, balik yung name sa queue and then it gets assigned to another outbound caller.

Kaya nakakainis, paulit ulit!!!

Siguro, just tell them that that they called at a very inconvenient time or just say straight on your not interested. On the way they rudely treat theirs customers, I'm sure they can handle such response.

It's useless telling them that. Wala silang pakialam. I've been telling them to bug off.

I think kaya (annoyingly) consistent ang calls ng Citibank because the portion of their business that's into selling their products / services is outsourced, or is performed by subsidiaries. Iba pa yung agents that call to bug about unpaid bills.

These outsourced resources / subsidiaries, I feel, rely on those datawarehousing outfits that sell info about individuals (which they get from buying info from other sources, like forms from other companies, surveys - online or off, etc.) Information is a precious commodity talaga; that's why we should take utmost care in filling up any application.

And I think the reason why they continue to bug people is because:

a.) These subsidiaries don't divide the total list of Citibank clients among themselves - thus redundant ang data.

b.) These telemarketers get low pay and earn their commission by the number of people they actually get to subscribe to Citibank's services - kaya kailangan nilang maging makulit. This is also the reason why they most probably don't tick off the names of people who, in spite of their persuasions, still don't buy their stuff.

I can tolerate their efforts - when you think about it, the agents are just trying to get a living...

What I don't tolerate is Citibank's Opt-out marketing scheme. Like the insurance that comes with their credit card - Credit Shield (or something like that). If you're not careful, you wouldn't know that every month may fee na napupunta sa pagbayad ng premiums. You would have to "opt out (explicitly tell them you don't want this service)" so that you don't have to get charged.

Opt-out marketing is ok, pero wag naman sana sa paid services.

Ganyan talaga pag qualified ka mangutang at mag-charge on credit. It's normal, it's effective and it's not illegal.
