okay, since u keep bumping, i'll try to share my 2 cents' worth of info.

i got into an employment contact with an outsourcing agency that has MISYS as one of its clients. amongst my batch of they hired 4 of them (for FREE, as in!) for 3, almost 4 months.

tapos finally they start paying. then now they absorbed 2 of those they hired, ex-deal for goodwill chuvalu.

kc the premise is that my batchmates and I have a 2 1/2 year bond with our mothership. MISYS, by "buying" their contract (though in effect they didn't really, since they'd be paying for their salaries for the next 2 years w/c is what they would do anyway should they choose not to buy their contracts, and they have served 1 year already).

now have again hired 7 of the new batch from my mother ship (again for FREE, for how long i dunno).

bottomline, WAIS. they didn't even have to spend a single centavo for employee training.

the pay is good raw, but they expect you to earn every penny. competitive.

like most IT companies, it's a circle. you have the tendency to be STUCK on one particular specialization. if one experiences burnout, the solution is lipat, ikot-ikot tapos babalik. or not.

that's it so far.

any other comments?

Ok. Im not really working at Misys. But i have a very very close relative working there. I hope this will help.

Misys is an international IT company. Very good working place because you can be trained soo well. The people there are ok naman daw, mababait. According to my ex-officemate who had her test there, ang hirap raw ****! *** nung na-ishare ko na may close relative ako dun na nagwowork, as in ang galing raw kung *** mkkapasa. Well..i really have to agree. My close relative is really really good.

Ska, u can be exposed to international work...like pwde ka ma-assign to this certain country...and you'll work for an international client of Misys there..galing kc sila rin bahala sayo dun.

I cant really share techie stuffs like the programs, softwares etc kc *** akong alam **** when it comes to that, i guess yung mga ganyang mga things lang ang naiishare sakin.

And i guess, maganda talaga ang Misys, kc nageenjoy yung relative ko... :) and gusto niya talaga yung job nya run.

LodRose: *** cnasabi kong 60/80t not under an agency or headhunter ha.... usually mas malaki talaga salary pag nde ka deretso eh kc they hire you on a conractual basis and walang benefits(?)....... i heard kasi that they're willing to pay 60-80T/mo for regular employment plus benefits....... is this true? pero someone told me din na nde raw un totoo kasi he/she's not getting that much although bagong hire sya, kaso i'm thinking baka nde *** nya na-market ng husto *** sarili nya........... :*)

mababait naman..i mean, siguro d naman maiiwasan na may small conflicts pero so far, *** namang nirereklamo yung relative ko. ;)

when it comes to uniforms, semi-casual sila. no jeans. kc ang ganda ng bldg (and ppl working there) to wear casual clothes.

sa time. may specific time sila. sa relative ko...from 8-5 ata.im not sure ha..pro ganon yung work frame niya pag umaalis siya sa haus. time conscious kasi yun eh, kaya maaga lagi alis.hehe

projects outside philippines? yes, as far as i know..they're an international IT company. *** maganda rin magwork dun kc u can have the chance to work outside the philippines and work for your client. :)

work sked: flexi time but you have to pull in at least 8 hours a day.

jeans: on fridays jeans are allowed.

telecommuting: here in manila? pre, matagal pa un. dream on.

on pay: pre somebody inside who don't care about pay just confirmed my speculation. pero di ka pa nagki-kiss so...

:p

ive quite a few friends in misys and though mukhang okay naman, ingat ingat lang sa applications. yung isang taga hr nila nag-lea-leak ng info. someone i know found out the hard way, ni-confront sya ng boss nya when his boss learned na nagpa-interview sya. funny thing is, hindi naman nya balak pumunta sa misys kasi nababaan sya sa compensation package na na-offer sa kanya. anyway, furious yung friend ko, he can't wait to confront yung hr nila. tsk tsk, very unethical. i hope it doesn't ruin it for everybody, funny how one (or two) rotten eggs can ruin the basket.

Fujitsu, Accenture, RCG, at MISYS not to mention yung mga contractual positions from RADIX at GlobalQuest.

'Remote users' or 'working remotely' ang term ng US companies dito.

papadala ka din sa obang bansa sa project, a friend of mine went to london for 6 months for a project.. some of my officemates transferred there, others I know are Java MAsters, meaning they are Java God.. ask anything they can answer..

Mar 29, 2006, 05:58 PM
hi.

i'm working as a headhunter for misys. pay is definetely above par than competitors. i had hired a number of java people for them since last year and their quite happy naman daw. they have good benefit as well (yes. unlimited SL, unlimited medicine reimbursement, etc.) They really have big recruitment budget!

they hire nothing but the cream of the crop. for you to be considered, dapat super advance an experience mo with java. kaso lang they don't tap from clients kaya minsan they loose good candidates.

once hired, the position will entail you to handle global projects. it's not true na nag-merge na ang retail and wholesale.

Misys international gives alot of opportunity for the filipino techie. What's alarming is that marami ding sobrang galing na java people sa bangalore. if misys feel that we don't have enough talents here, they might pass the project to bangalore, india instead.

hope this helps...

Macky_EX, umalis ka na sa misys? bakit?

Besides politics and limited technical growth (damn templates), I was offered a regular job na 175% of what I was recieving in MISYS (DPS-4 po ako sa MISYS). Yup, MISYS have unlimited SLs (3 consecutive SLs requires a doctor cert) and medicine reimbursement (basta may reseta) but 175% is 175% :)

currently i'm still working here at MISYS..

I'm a J2EE Analyst/Programmer (it's their official name to Java Developers here) working in System Development Group.

In regarsd sa compensation, it's excellent as long as you can Market yourself. So, you need to Market yourself!

Benefits is hndi gaano para sa akin: VL, Unlimited SL, Rice Allowance, and the HMO is for me only.. hndi kasali ang wife and baby ko.. dun sa dati ko employer ay included na kc ang wife and baby ko pati mother ko pa...

In regards sa hiring process, written exam first, Java is based on SCJP Certification Exam, then followed by Technical Interview by a Java Technical Lead, then followed by the Hiring Manager.. *** yng magiging Manager nyo.. then final or formality interview by the System Development Manager.. *** na ang pinaka BIGBOSS ng buong System Development - MISYS PLC Core Banking...

then, Higher or Lower, eto yng offer ng HR and contract signing..
then ok na!

Once hired, 1 month of Framework Training, then Project Assignment..

Maganda ** once you really market urself...

another catch is yng technology.. medyo ma i-stock *** .. but of ccourse na sa inyo na rin yan if you'll continue to study/learn by urself..

Overall: Maganda na rin ang MISYS if you can really SELF YOUR SELF!

but remember there's no such company as perfect company.

They called the day after the exam. With regards to the offer and the contract, they gave it immediately (like about an hour) after the interview (in my case though, which I still find weird ).

Would anyone happen to know the compensation package for this account? I've been working for a healthcare communications center for 2 years and I'm currently a TL.

I looked up for their phone number on their website and it says 885-0351 but I saw on one of the posts here that it's 885-0375 and 885-0371. Which number is for their HR department?

Thanks!!

I have an exam tomorrow with this company and after reading all the post, Im already thinking twice if I should take the exam or not :D. I didn't apply with them but they got my contact number in jobstreet. They are using the keyword 'our company' to find suitable candidates. They called some of my ofismates too. Is there a big expansion or there's a major exodus of employees??? :rotflmao:

I applied for support consultant position here... I took the 5-item exam kanina in less than 3 hrs, then got interviewed by HR - seemed good naman, she said your next interview is with the Hiring Manager and with the Regional Manager... so wait lang daw ako tomorrow or Wednesday.

Ask ko lang, is there anyone here na Support Consultant ang role? How is the job? How are the processes like? Okay ba benefits and compensation package?

Thanks :)

Ask ko lang, I've applied for the position of Associate Relationship Manager. Well, it's not the hard-core programming it's more on sales. Would you know how much is the salary range? Do you think they can pay between 70-80k for this position?

Kailangan ko pa bang mag-exam nung 5-question exam? Eh di naman programming ina-aplayan ko.

Sep 19, 2008, 11:34 AM
If you're applying for a more senior position normally there is no exam. Certainly the non-dev positions do not require one. I think that 70-80k for the position should well be within their budget. Of course it depends how well you are able to negotiate and your existing C&B

I was endorsed to a different position here and not to the one I previously applied. Parang support consultant pero di naman ako IT grad eh, business graduate ako.

Although the HR person that I talked to (she's very accomodating btw) told me that she already endorsed my papers to the Hiring Manager.

How soon kaya before they call back? Ask ko na rin how long is the whole recruitment process here? I would assume faster than the usual 1-2 mos

In my case, here is what happened:
- I was called up by a headhunter and was referred to Misys for an intial interview
- Went for the initial interview which served as my technical interview
- Got the feedback the next day and they schedule me for my second interview with the product/consulting head as well as the HR interview in one go
- Went for the 2nd interview after 2 months (because i had a previous commitment during that time)
- After the interview the headhunter already informed me that i got the job so overall discounting the lapse in days would be 2 days

Just got a notice that due to the financial crisis being experience in UK, there is a freeze in hiring of non-sales or non-revenue generating positions (e.g. admin staff i suppose) but if you're applying for an associate relationship manager (i would assume you're most likely going to be in pre-sales or sales) then it would be safe to assume that you're going to be allright.

Just one peice of friendly advice is that since you mentioned that you're more of business oriented or functional as we call it thats fine but you also need to understand that marketing a banking system or trying to build relationship with different clients would require you at least skin level knowledge of the product that you're gonna handle so you still need to be it-oriented.

Good luck to your application.

Thanks team slick. Very well-said.

The girl from HR told me that when she profiled my CV, I would best be suited for an OPICS Support Consultant position. But I initially applied for an associate RM position. She forwarded my papers I think last Thur/Fri.

In my case with the banking industry I was with (was with sales), we used to have trainings/briefings even exams before the product launch so when we offer it to our clients then at least we're knowledgable about it. Well. it's a different story na for me if I'm going to work for an IT company I guess.

I'm just hoping that Misys calls me na because I have pending job applications that are on the final stages na, one gave me a job offer already. However, I am more interested in Misys so I wouldn't know how soon or how long before they call because I might need to decide very soon. Aaargh!

Sep 22, 2008, 05:08 PM
jamzy:

since i went thru a headhunter i didnt bother actually negotiating with them as their initial offer to me was more than what i expected naman so to speak. The headhunter gave me a rough ballpark figure to expect and they actually exceeded that amount so i was quite satisfied.

I had my interview nung early december. Told them that ill give them my decision come christmas (around 2 weeks) and then i actually got the contract sheet somewhere around mid jan so mabilis naman ang processing in my case.

so far so good i suppose, wasnt really expecting to get into the product (Loan IQ) which is more into commercial, corporate and syndicated lending as i thought i would be getting into either Opics, Equation, Summit or Midas coming from a core banking and treasury background

I was hired as a technical consultant pero during the interview the country manager decided to convert me into a hybrid consultant so im doing both functional/technical side of LIQ. Im still hoping to get onboard those products i mentioned kasi gusto ko bumalik sa asia someday (im currently based in UK)

Did HR leave a number with you? Maybe you could follow them up. Like i said mabilis magtrabaho yung headhunter but once napirmahan na yung contract hahaha kung ano naman ang kabilis niya, yun ang kinabagal ng relocation process.

Goddess_0618

Yes, it's Anna Palero, right.

I was able to talk to her. Same, endorsed pa lang to the Hiring Mgrs to see if I'm qualified or not kasi position daw is technical. But they're open for functional and technical consultant positions. That's why I opted for functional.

ang hiring managers ba as in HR? or yung mga managers sa dept na pinag aapplyan mo?

team slick
Sep 25, 2008, 04:45 PM
my suspect would be the hiring manager would be the department/product head that you'll be applying to

Based on my understanding, the others can comment on this but in Misys of course you got different groups/functions (e.g. HR, Sales, Marketing, Administration, Consultancy, Development, Customer Support) lets call this level 1

Under each level 1 it may or may not be further subdivided into the product (e.g. Midas, Summit, Opics, Equation), lets call this level 2

Under each level 2 there can be sub-specialization (e.g. In Consultancy you can have technical consultancy, project management, functional consultancy, etc), lets call this level 3

Normally the hiring manager would belong to level 2 unless that level is diverse and big enough that one person cannot handle all the activities and tasks.

Based from my experience, especially if you're applying for an experience post, you'll be given an initial interview at level 3 meaning they assess your specialized skills and if you're deem qualify then you proceed to level 2 for the situational interview.

There will be a representative from HR that will be seated beside the hiring manager (can be a country manager/product manager/level 1 manager) but at the end of the day this hiring manager will be the one informing HR whether they will hire you or not as the salary that you'll be paid will be coming out of their group expense/budget

The HR is simply formality in this sense that they would probably ask what are your benefit package expectations but from my experience heck the HR only ask me this question as i was having a great time chatting with the country manager of my product that the interview lasted an hour more than the usual.

For new hirees or entry level, then the process is a bit different. The HR will perform the initial screening via written exams and initial interview and then forward the successful candidates to level 3 for accessment. Of course the cycle i mentioned above will follow (im not sure if they still need to go to level 2 but i suppose so, can the others people please verify?)

Hope that helps

Goddess_0618
Sep 25, 2008, 05:47 PM
Yes, i think that's how it is. Kasi I asked HR why they didn't interview me na, no need na raw. I was endorsed immediately. So my fate will be determined by the Hiring Mgr.

jamzv
Sep 27, 2008, 06:28 AM
usually if you have experience already and are applying for a technical position the hiring manager would be the first one to interview. HR might do an interview after the hiring manager OKs you but that is mostly behavioral questions lang.

I accepted the misys post and will be coming in next month although i have met the team already. They will be hiring a lot of people in the next few months since they are ramping up.

Goddess_0618
Sep 27, 2008, 02:22 PM
oh! congrats jamzy. are you in for a technical post as well?

mukhang ok naman yata makipag-negotiate si misys eh. di na yata ako aabot makahintay sa call. mukhang i will be accepting my pending job offer. mahirap na eh i might not be waiting for nothing.

anyway, please do keep us posted on the job openings. thanks and good luck

Hi Everyone,

I recently took an exam for QA position for misys. Unfortunately, I failed. Can I immediately re-apply?

Thanks in advance...

team slick
Oct 8, 2008, 10:08 PM
1.) at which stage did you failed?
2.) are you gonna re-apply for the same position or a different position?

I assume since you mentioned that it is an examination so it would probably be the initial phase (i wanted to know whether would this be the generic exams or would it be a role specific, can you provide what type of exam you took)

If your answer to no 2 is yes, then it wld be highly unlikely that they would consider you to retake the exam as they would probably keep a database also of the people who applied

College graduate, preferably Computer-related, Math or Business Course
Must have a minimum of 5 years banking experience in a team leader or supervisory capacity
Must have an experience in the analysis/design of product/system in a banking or financial institution
Must have core expertise in the following fields:
Dealing
Lending
Funds Transfer/Remittance/SWIFT

You could actually get the information off their website
http://www.misysbanking.com/Careers/Core/cr_9972.html

If you're being eye as a business analyst, im not sure whether you will fall into the shifting positions as i know those would be more of customer support / development

Business analyst are part of Professional Services Group which means that they send you onsite to the client to provide business consultancy for their products.

Currently this is what im doing well a mix of both business and technical depending on the cap and the audience that im meeting on the specific date.
