Twenty minutes ago I got a call from a woman located in the United States, and the call went like this:

Me: Hi, welcome to blah blah blah, my name is so-and-so...
Woman: [Interrupts] Mister so-and-so, where are you physically located?
Me: (Oh fuck here we go) We're located in the Philippines.
Woman: Okay, bye.

The woman called back four times, asked the same question to four different agents, and hung up on all of them.

 Sometimes, I just wish their heart would stop pumping blood right there after hanging up. Gusto ko silang murahin ng kung anu-ano, pero termination naman kapalit nun pag na-monitor ako.

One day, when I decide to "retire" from this call center career, I'll be doing that to my last racist call.

got this from my friendster's bulletin board:

I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of
the Oprah Winfrey show where her guest was
Tommy Hilfiger.
On the show, she asked him if the statements
about race he was accused of saying were true.
Statements like"..."If I'd known African-Americans,
Hispanics, Jewish and Asians would buy my
clothes, I would not have made them so nice. I
wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes,
as they are made for upper class white people."

His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES". Where
after she immediately asked him to leave her
show.

My suggestion? Don't buy your next shirt or
perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let's give him what
he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes, let's put
him in a financial state where he himself will not
be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on
his clothes.

BOYCOTT. PLEASE SEND THIS MESSAGE
TO ANYONE YOU KNOW.

FIGHT AGAINST RACISM Scene took place on
a BA (British Airways)flight between
Johannesburg and London. A white woman, about
50 years old, was seated next to a black man.
Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air
Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter," the
hostess asked.
"You obviously do not see it then?" she
responded.
"You placed me next to a black man. I do not
agree to sit next to someone from such a
repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat."

"Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all
the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see
if another place is available."
The Hostess went away and then came back a
few minutes later.
"Madam, just as I thought, there are no other
available seats in the economy class. I spoke to
the captain and he informed me that there is also
no seat in the business class. All the same, we
still have one place in the first class."

Before the woman could say anything, the hostess
continued: "It is not usual for our company to
permit someone from the economy class to sit in
the first class. However, given the circumstances,
the captain feels that it would be scandalous to
make someone sit next to someone so
disgusting."
She turned to the black guy, and
said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please
collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in
first class."
At that moment, the other passengers who were
shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up
and applauded. This is a true story. If you are
against racism, please send this message to all
your friends; please do not delete it without
sending it to at least
one person.

One thing I hate, along with stupid racists, is the proliferation of false forwarded racial rumors.

Shamelessly ripped from Snopes:

Claim
Designer Tommy Hilfiger shocked the world when he appeared on a television talk show and said, "If I knew that blacks and Asians were going to wear my clothes, I would have never designed them."

Status
False.

Origins
Rumors that Tommy Hilfiger made a racist remark exploded onto the Internet in the fall of 1996 after a news article purporting to be from a Philippine tabloid began making the online rounds. These self-same rumors had been in circulation at least nine months earlier, but the appearance of this article brought them to critical mass.

well..... how would you feel if one day we picked up the phone and called our bank's customer service/PLDT/ Merlaco/ Globe/ Sky Cable/Home Cable/ Destiny cable or even just the Directory Assistance-- and realized that we're talking to an agent in Vietnam, Bangladesh, Africa or some other more hard up country than the Philippines?

come on answer honestly.

you'd feel pretty ticked off too, knowing that jobs that can go to you or your fellow Pinoy is going somewhere else, specially the fact that there isnt enough jobs to go around as it is.

btw what you said: (italics mine)

i know you're expressing your feelings. but really you could do a much better job without being that which you hate.

darth scully: the last part of your post was very paulo freire. point taken :) btw, when i say rednecks, i only refer to the boorish ones. tractor-driving and cow-milking southerns who still have a grasp on social graces are, to me, no rednecks at all.

i agree mga pinoy mahilig mag-discriminate. kasi ugali ng pinoy pag hindi naiintindihan pinagtatawanan. ignorante kasi marami sa tin sa kultura ng iba. tapos ang taas taas ng tingin sa mga puti. may na-experience nga ako sa isang mall... may pinoy na nka-sando, shorts at tsinelas na islander sabi ng guard "sorry sir, bwal dito yang suot niyo" tapos may dumating na foreigner parehas ng get-up sa pinoy sando, shorts at tsinelas (siguro nga mahal yung tsinelas nya) sabi ng guard "welcome to the philippines sir! enjoy your stay!" what's up with that? i mean there's really nothing wrong with being nice to tourists pero yung ganun??? dapat di rin nila pinapapasok! imagine being discriminated in ur OWN country at ng sarili mong kalahi??!!
