To my knowledge, the 13th month salary is a NON-TAXABLE government mandated benefit. You should check with your finance department with regard to this.

^^i believe 13th month pay amounting to more than 30K is taxable.

Thanks for the heads up guys... I didn't know that there's a benefit cap.

Although the guy from West did mention that they're agents. I don't really think that their weighted salary average would reach 30K. (If there is such a company... naku... lipat na rin ako! mwahahahaha! )

Tax refund is only given to an employee if the company exceedingly deducts taxes from his/her salary. kung sobra ang bawas sayo, ibabalik. pag kulang, babawasan ka pa. basta io-offset lang yun.

funny thing about our "finance dept" is that it really only consists of one person, which is more of a point person really. our payroll is outsourced in Singapore.

if the Philippine law states that 13th month pay is non-taxable for income 30k and below, and a company taxes its exmployees that falls under this bracket, isnt that criminal? is there somewhere where employees can report this kind of abuse?

13th month pay plus all bonuses (mid-year bonus, 14th month pay, etc), will be taxed if the sum of all is beyond 30,000 pesos.

Ask your accounting department why. Minsan kasi kulang pala yung taxes na kinuha from your monthly salary so sa 13th month pay nila babawiin.

Hallo,

Working in a call center seems to be the "in" thing today. I am very curious as to what do thye do in there in terms of having a job security. iI had heard stories that is quite very sad, like peole losing thier jobs due to the quick turn over of the positions and.. most horribly, when they cannot meet the supposed quota alloted to them.

I would like to know if any of what I had said is true. It is such a surprise for me to hear this considering that most of the stories are about the surpsingly enourmous salaries that they get.

Thanks

Just curious

When it comes to job security, it depends on the position and the kind of call center. If you're an agent (aka call center rep, etc) working for an outbound call center (sales), the job is not really secure. But if you're an agent working for an inbound call center, the job security is better, although it will also depend on the client. If the client has a long-term commitment with the call center, you're likely to stay there for a long period of time, especially if your performance is okay.

Overall, everything depends on your performance. If you do well, you'll be regularized and may stay for years and eventually get promoted. In my case, I started with a call center handling outbound acct. I became a regular employee and was eventually promoted to a higher position. After staying there for three years, I moved to one of the biggest call center with the same job. Of course the pay is better.

For sales, there is a quota. For inbound, it's a combination of factors that determine if you get to stay there or not. Usually, an agent gets to work for 6months.

There are other positions available in a call center other than an agent. There's Team Leader, Quality Assurance, Training and of course, the usual position also found in other industry like Human Resources, Accounting, IT, etc. For these positions, the job security is better.

With regards to salary, I believe the lowest one you'll get is 10k. That's big enough for entry-level positions as compared to other industries who give salary lower than 10k. If you join the bigger call centers around, you'll likely get higher than 10k, especially if you have call center experience.

Call center is at the forefront of the job market these days that's why you get to hear horror stories. But I'm quite sure there are other horror stories outside the call center industry. I worked with other non-call center companies and I had my share of horror stores too. In short, at times it's all a matter of fate. What's important is how you'll use that bad experience to strengthen yourself as a career person.
