I just wish these get thru people who knows what working really is. I dont have experience in any call center but trying another field and perhaps going into call center industry is another way of getting a some sort of a new career in life. The principle of let say operation, project management etc is an experience but how come I still could get thru. Any idea why most call center requires at least two years experience when applying for a managerial position?

I hope i made sense, guys.......

hey martin wazzup bro!?

january.. well call center industries, should provide new people that can intimidate the team, someone that a team can look up to. if they can sense that youre not good enough managing your subs, good luck. but in somecases , if you got the "it" and youve got the potentials to be a leader then, no doubts, youll be part of the team. Just try to enhance your english accent but of course your grammar as well and you'll be one of us!

ive got a friend, well the good thing, he came from US and tried to apply in a call center industry, and dang! hes a manager now. well, he deserves it.

jan, hope my piece of advice will help you. good luck!

I don't know what your previous work experience is so I maybe off target with my post.

Anyway, one of the biggest difference in the call center industry is that you deal with service more than product. This means that your direct output isn't necessarily what your client will be looking for. Call center operations mgmt have a requirement of 2 years for most centers because they have a relatively younger, albeit inexperienced workforce (yes, this will include team leads). Also, each call center has a different culture which makes a manager hired from another center or another industry harder to cope. On the project management side, this is an entirely tricky thing as I've seen call centers differ in opinion on this. Some hire externally while some would rather promote from within.

It is true that the principles of operations and project mgmt are common among all industries. But its how the principles are applied to each industry that set the tone for success or failure.

Hope this helps

ei, january! don't fret about it. used to be that this industry required impeccable grammar pero that's not true anymore. sa laki ba naman ng demand for manpower. i say give it your best shot and be confident with the interview! wag ka pa-intimidate sa mga recruitment staff ng HR dahil pulpol din yung mga yon!

hay nako cigawette eh dito ka sa ict nagwowork eh...dami na nga kami na naipasok mo yata eh..hehe...wag kayo maniwala jan, nambobola lang yan...kidding!

going back to the original topic...i personally don't think that there isn't that much of a career growth in call centers...that's why medyo mataas ang mortality rate ng call centers...but if we're talking bout "compensation", guess u should start thinking of applying in call centers.
