View Full Version : Looking For Greener Pastures

I know most people would never feel satisfied with their current call center jobs; and that is the main reason why I wanted to post this new thread to give those people (well… that includes me) alternatives. If you could just give us any information regarding your current company (i.e. specific account or program, perks and compensation package, position available etc.), this might just help us end our search for the “greenest pasture”:smokin:

if you are looking for a greener pasture, I suggest that apply ka either sa SYKES, Convergys, PeopleSupport, eTelecare or ICT. These call centers offer higher salary compare to other call centers. Aside from that, their benefits are excellent!

I am working in Sykes now, and I have no plans of leaving Sykes for the next 3-5 years. You want to know why, because the salary is very competetive and the benefits are awesome! Noong probitionary pa lang ako mataas na salary ko, mas lalong tumaas when I get regularized. Plus yung mga benefits nila binigay talaga right after my 6th month.

What about the managements in SYKES like the couaches ??? how are they??? cause most call center problems comes from the management and not really the company??? @ claire

sweetmaryjane: so you wanna be in a call center for the rest of your life? what degree did you finish?? never thought of going into practice?

sweetmaryjane
Dec 29, 2004, 12:35 AM
well practically speaking, its okay to be in a call center for the rest of your life... as long as you don't take or make calls for the rest of your life... there's gotta be some growth though.... who knows anyone in this thread could actually be a shift manager, operations manager or whateve higher positions there are in an outsourcing company. as they say, "start small then dream big"

doesnt really matter what you finished... i'm looking into practicing my expertise venturing into a business..... call center for me is a stress - free job, 'coz you don't bring workloads at home. this could also be a good training ground for people who just simply want to get paid for experience. let's face it... call centers compensate people more than those normal jobs that you could get from your own field. i'm just speaking of experience...

supersleepy: It's good to hear that you had chosen Sykes over Daksh. Rest assured that you will not regret your decision. If I may ask, anong account ka na-interview? You may PM me na lang siguro for the answer kasi bawal i-divulge and account natin. Sa OSMA, Burgundy, SMPC or RS na-interview?

I also applied in Daksh as TL. I passed the written exam, simulation, and oral examination, but when I was invited for an interview, I didn't go. Kasi I realized stable na ako sa Sykes, regular na ako and I am enjoying all the benefits naman, though hindi ako TL dito or Senior Rep.

Gilded_Crotch: Ok naman yung upper management ng Sykes. HR people here are all friendly, then yung Head ng Sykes Asia Pacific rim is sooo approachable.

Congratulations, you were able to make it!!! I agree with you it's the red tag that matters! Passion and dedication are basically what you need and must have to survive and grow in Sykes.

Nga pala, we also have Yahoo account, sa OSMA located at kilala ko yung Account Manager, super bait nun! You said sa Sykes thread na sa SMPC ka based, malamang chat or email support ka ng MSN account kasi yung phone support ng MSN nasa RS.

I'm with Macromedia account nga pala.

I am still caught in a daze as to how I would respond to this question.

Yeah, you get promoted but there are a lot of things to consider: stability, compensation and benefits, your friends at work, your boss, etc. Even if you are itching to look for greener pastures (meaning in this context, higher pay), you'd often pass it up for stability.

Sykes has the best of both worlds in terms of compensation and stability. The key is their array of 32 accounts/clients in their Philippine operations. Some clients even have divisions within them like MCI and JP Morgan. Remember the compensation, incentives, etc. varies from account to account or even division to division. Hope to work in the account of my choice soon.

Sykes even has two weeks in core skills training[before product training] unlike the more common one week basic training in other call centers. In some accounts the training can last up to 6 months.

This company makes sure that people from various age groups[ from around 19 to past 40 years in age] get along and blend together well before their product training! Yes, no age discrimination.

Well, you could actually assume any definition for greener pastures. Like you said it could be money, friends or stability... whatever the factor is for you to become happier... that could be your greener pasture. :)

Anyway... news news news po!! Got a call from Ward Hawell and they're currently looking for agents for a new financial firm from Chicago. They said whoever gets in would be the pioneer for this account. It's not an outsourced site just like most call centers it's company owned. So whoever might be interested could contact them. This could actually be a good oppurtunity for people who are willing to take the risk and be part of a newly growing company. :) :)

sa daksh yung 21 k.. pero that would be inbound sales.. commissions basis.. 15k + 2k transpo allow.. plus commissions.. aabot na ng ganun.. pero.. dapat ata.. seasoned agent ka na don.. MBS?

account yata yun sa 'min.. dunno if that is Macromedia.. tama ba yun sweetmaryjane? ganda nga daw account tsaka starting.. pero lupet ata training.. hav to learn fast i heard.. hopefully 1 day be transferred in that acct...

pansin mo ba? newbie pa *** me pre.. pero kasi i transferred from my 1st call center to Sykes nga po.. whenever i'm interviewed.. asking price ko **** yan.. 21k.. bakit? kaya nmn nila gib.. yun.. experiensyado na rin me kung baga.. :stan:

san ka ba ngayon figureskater? *** call center i mean.. *paw*

In my humble opinion earning 21k a month in the telecom account of Daksh is an understatement, especially for a seasoned inbound sales agent. I will not be surprised if one can earn far more than that. I know of newbies who can earn 40k in one month in an inbound sales account.

Supersleepy,

Try to get information on the telecom account[e-mail support] of Sykes....alam mo na iyon. Its a relatively stress free account as compared to voice support and they pay commissions aside from the decent basic pay and incentives. Sykes pays decent referral fee to staff who were able to hire trainees who get certified! Pwede mong pagkakitaan iyan. Its Sykes way of devolving the HR function to its staff who know how to scout for people who are very interested in an account. In my previous account, staff get paid 1k per head for any referred trainee that finishes the seven week training[2 wks. core skills plus five week product training].

Hi Allen could you shed light on the career oppurtunities in Daksh? I've got a couple of friends who are willing to let go of their high compensation in Sykes because they claim that Daksh proposes better pay. What types of accounts do they have (I know you're not really allowed to disclose clients, probably you could give us an idea like inbound sales for isp's or tech support etc.)? :stan:

MBS = Microsoft Business Solutions. This is one of the finest accounts in Sykes. Each agent gets to have their own laptop that they could take home.

I'm also looking for other options now. I've been in the QA biz for almost 3 years but it's still soi hard to get a job. Ive applied at Daksh still no call. I plan to apply over at eperformax or my other option is be an agent and start from there. Ive got PS, Sykes on top of my list. I want stabilityt in a company and a good working environment. What do you think guys?

Let me say this, whilst i was in Sykes for 4 years we had to hire externally because the job requirements for the central QA department posts are "above standard", if not altogether "different". QA Account Owners in Sykes do not monitor / audit calls as other call center QA practitioners are still bent on doing. The QA Account Owner acts as a Quality consultant for an account ensuring that the SSE (sykes standard of excellence) requirements, quality performance indicators, KPI's, QA technology management (NICE, Witness) are effectively provisioned in the campaign. They are therefore not product-trained.

There are specialist and systems positions in QA such as Documentation Specialist, Standards Specialist, Training Specialist, etc that have a more process framework and design approach and accountability. The hiring and performance expectations for these positions have yet to be replicated in the other call centers.

However if you have the kind of Quality Department that only focuses on basic transaction monitoring, calibration, quality reporting and analysis -- it might be appropriate to have the best trained agent promoted into a QA post. (Some multinational call centers do treat QA posts as promotion rather than lateral transfers.)

ClientLogic in the absence of a centralized QA Dept hires PQAs who are resident to the account. They are product trained but they do not monitor as the coaches monitor for their own teams.

Hope this helps.

Good points idiot-savant! Centers have different QA units or units that are at different points in the QA "continuum".
