it's becoming an annual ritual. it's 4PM and i've been called to a meeting that'll probably last till 7 (heartless b@stards!) but i'm holding back. how was 2004?

1. learned one new field - enterprise-wide risk management
2. the new group i'm to lead, risk management, has not been formed (at least i got my promotion in advance).
3. nearly all my savings are now in greenbacks.
4. my boss resigned (seems all of them do). is it me????
5. got walloped by an angry officemate middle of the year. lucky he hasn't sued me for decorating his face.
6. actually challenged a PEXer to a fight.

on the homefront:

1. wife's still mad at me
2. kid turned 1
3. pruned all the trees in the house. no more worries about rain gutter clogs but now the place gets hot in the afternoon.
4. frank, my dog died. :(
5. frieda, the other dog, nearly died. she's fine now.
6. learned to cook two crucial dishes: paella and spaghetti (mom's recipe). the second one's a killer. use 100gm of ground beef for every 100gm of dry pasta to be used, spiced up with chunks of chorizo de bilbao, bell peppers and lots of cheese.

For me, 2004 was better than 2003 as I took 3 months off to learn and set up something new and also had a very much needed extended vacation. :)

work-wise:
1) July 16 marked my freedom from our co's 3yr bond. I am free to look for work elsewhere but never really had the time to do so!
2) Just like Krakista, the last quarter of 2004 saw me out of the office for a month for a much needed vacation
3) 2004 wasn't a good year for the management in terms of keeping the employees. you'll just get tired of going-away get-togethers, we have them every month! (and i think there are still more to come.. :( )
4) still so many tasks at hand, much much more than the team can handle.. but thankfully, we're getting by :)

on a personal note:
1) mom is in the country! indefinitely! yahoo!
2) a no of good friends hv left the country. some for work, others for good. i'm happy for them alright but i really, really miss them
3) clark, my dog i bought at clark field (thus the name), got through our gate and (i think) ended up as pulutan
4) got another dog to replace clark :D
5) someone still wouldnt talk to me! oh well.

CAREER:

Stuck in a dead-end job. Meager salary increase. Hardly any benefits. No promotion whatsoever. :bah:

PERSONAL:

Settled into a serious relationship. Finally!

I guess it's true that you just can't have it all. When I was single and unattached, I was practically running out of ideas as to how I'd spend my money. These days I'm almost always broke.
