my baby was born 3 lbs 14 oz at 33 weeks. wala nga gusto humawak sa kanya kasi parang butu-buto at keliit-liit. mabagal din ang weight gain niya, tapos sa first week nawalan pa siya ng 100 grams. siyempre iniisip mo kasi i-compare siya sa ibang babies, pero DO NOT. special ang baby mo. basta with close consultation ka sa pedia, and you trust your pedia, siguro naman by individual progress mo na lang basehan ang development niya. huwag ka lang mahiya, itanong mo sa pedia lahat ng worries mo, tapos make research on your own. 4 years old na baby ko at compared sa same age kids, e, isang ulo ang tangkad nila. sa statistics siya yung lower 10% in terms of weight and height tapos 90% are bigger and weigh more than him. pero wala akong paki-alam basta sabi ng pedia niya, healthy at active ang anak ko, e, ayos na ako.
i am not familiar with iugr. kasi anak ko kaya premature kasi oligohydramnios ako, yung wala nang amniotic fluid at 26 weeks. so cs ako kasi high risk na daw baby ko kung hindi pa ilalabas nung 33rd week ko.
stay focused. pray more, and be thankful your child is alive. my prayers are with you. patience lang talaga.

Dont worry,
My babies were small for their gestational ages too. My tummy was so so small for a 9 month pregnat woman The doctor gave me a lot of vitamins n all pero pinanganak na small pa rin. THEY are now at least a head taller than their classmates.

Hi there. This thread caught my opinion. I was hoping if someone among you has encountered what I'm encountering right now.
I'm more than 9 weeks pregnant, and my baby still has no heartbeat as of yet. Also, according to the ultrasound results, my baby's length is comparable only to that of a 6 week old embryo/fetus. I've had no bleeding nor spotting. No discomfort of any kind, really. Antukin lang ako, which is normal among moms-to-be, I guess.
Did any of you have this experience? I'm afraid that my baby will not survive at all, since the OB said my baby's heartbeat was still "questionable" at this stage. I'd rather have this intrauterine growth retardation that you speak of rather than intrauterine death. Regarding genetics naman, my baby's dad is quite taller than the average guy, at 5'11. I myself am not that short at 5'4, and we were both healthy when we were born. Please, can someone enlighten me? My next visit to the OB is sometime this week pa. Thanks so much.

i had my first ultrasound at 4 months, hindi ba masyado pa too early ang 9 weeks para sa ultrasound? can't you ask another ob-gyn for a second opinion?

Sigurado ka bang tama ang bilang mo na 9 weeks pregnant ka nga, minsan kasi mas reliable ang ultrasound kasi kita inla mismo ang growth ng baby, kaya baka nga 6th weeks pa lang.

--don't think any negative things about your baby, just keep praying.

--I had my first ultrasound when my baby reach his/her 9th week, and the ultrasound confirms it too,and I also manage to hear the heartbeat and saw it blinking as well on the pc monitor.
Btw, ang alam ko kasi sa 'pinas ang purpose lang ng ultrasound eh to determined the gender, not unless siguro kung alam nilang special case ka talaga, pero dito, they use it for so many reason, kaya having it on your 9th weeks wasn't too early at all.

I already did. I went to another OB for my second check-up and second ultrasound na din, the one during my 9th week (I'm on my 10th week now). Pareho sila ng sinabi -- no fetal heartbeat.

Yep, I'm positive about it. LMP = 12/01/04.

Thanks so much. I really try not to be too negative about it. But it gets really difficult when paranoia gets in the way. Plus, I haven't heard of a case similar to mine. Hayyy... :(
By the way, hindi lang to determine the baby's gender ang purpose ng ultrasound here in the PI. My first OB suggested it to see nga if may heartbeat na 'yung baby ko, and kung multiple pregnancies ba or what. I was on my 7th week then.

Hey, marla!
Don't fret and worry too much. Here in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the docs say babies don't get fully mature until they grow up and vote republican.
Kidding aside, we're hoping the best for you!

Gee. Thanks for the attempt at humor.
It's over. My ultrasound last Saturday revealed that my baby did not develop a heartbeat. And at more than 11 weeks old, the embryo/fetus was just 5mm+ long, merely the length/size of a 6-week-old fetus. I'm scheduled to undergo a D&C next week. :(
I'm so sad. I want to cry for my poor baby. I wasn't expecting it. I really had no indication, as I really had no bleeding nor spotting. On hindsight though, the other pregnancy symptoms did vanish. But I was still hoping for the best. I really am at a loss right now, I don't know how to feel.
Anyway, sorry for including my problem in this thread. I guess I was just looking for answers. Nagbaka-sakali lang that everything would've turned out well. :(
