guys just wanna ask if you can suggest hospitals where you delivered your child. My gf's OB at UST price is a little bit high for us. She's asking around 45k and thats for normal delivery. That's way too much and also my friends even told me na mahal yun! If you can suggest any good hospitals guys it would surely help. I have PGH, Delgado in mindun lang. If you could post na din kung how much that would surely help. Thanks a lot!:)

our ob/gyne holds office at st. lukes, polymedic (edsa) and chidren's hospital. she quickly discounted children's hospital because of problems she had there.
for normal delivery:
st. lukes - 30,000 package (you have to stay in the ward though. staying in a semi-private or private room will jack all items up)
polymedic - 19,000
for c-section:
st. lukes - 60,000 (bare)
polymedic - 30,000
***
and you know the nice thing about the polymedic package? she gets to choose her staff, not just pull together whoever resident happens to be standing by at the time of labor.

you can try manila doctors' hospital at UN avenue. i had my normal delivery there for only 14K (well we didnt pay obgyn's PF). i also had my operation there last year for ectopic pregnancy at only 10K (again no PF from obgyn and this time pati anesthesiologist). both private rooms. kaso kaya lang ako discounted kasi we have friends there. pero im sure hindi kasing mahal ng MMC at St. Luke's ang normal fees nila. you can maybe research on Dra. Liza Camagong-Nocon, she also holds clinic at mediserv sampaloc.

thanks again mac bolano dude! where is polymedic malapit pare? can you pm me your ob gyne's name and contact number and sched pare. Thanks!
Dr. Lucia C. Tianco. her schedule at St. Lukes is saturday, 1-5 (just go to the medical arts building and look up her room number in the directory). she charges 200/consultation. i'll try to get her contact numbers.
two things: those rates i gave you are bare, assuming no complications. whereas the bare package for normal delivery at st. lukes is around 30,000, we spent a total of 43,000 (normal delivery pa yan, hah!) the baby had to stay for three days at the nursery after the wife was discharged due to 'yellowing'. additional tests did us in. Dr. tianco will stir you to polymedic if the budget's tight. it's the tall hospital along edsa on your side going towards makati, just after shaw crossing.
how far is she into her pregnancy? switching ob-gynes can be tricky, especially into the later months. better ask doc Ira about this.
good luck.

her due date's on July 23 na dude. I know we shouldn't switch ob na at this stage but because of budget constraints kailangan pare.:(

i agree. kelangan talaga proper endorsement if u really want to switch to another obgyn. ako kasi i switched on my 7th month and bigla ako nag preterm labor so medyo hassle sa kanya. buti nlang i kept those prenatal check-up records.
geekhead
Jun 17, 2003, 11:22 AM
proper endorsements means we are gonna ask our OB if she knows any doctors that is within our budget? para matransfer yung records din...
Gabriela
Jun 17, 2003, 11:34 AM
not really. it means kelangan yung records that you have from the previous OB should be complete. like kung ano na mga ginawa kay gf, ultrasounds, vitamins/meds that were prescribed, etc. so that the new OB has baseline info about the gf's pregnancy. very important esp kung may history ng hypertension, allergies and other illnesses (or the gf's been having a hard time with her pregnancy).
Gabriela
Jun 17, 2003, 11:36 AM
btw, wala bang sariling record yung gf mo that she keeps? like the obgyn just fills it up every month. it's like a monitoring notebook. i always brought mine to the prenatal check-up every month. that was given to me by my first obgyn.
geekhead
Jun 17, 2003, 11:40 AM
a ok. so you can ask your OB na your gonna pull out all your records? sorry lapit na kasi due date and i'm having this kind of dilemma:~(
Gabriela
Jun 17, 2003, 11:52 AM
yeah i understand. reason why i switched at the last minute was the lower fees. you can ask lang a copy of the record. you can talk to your obgyn about it. civil naman ang mga yan. they always expect that patients go for 2nd opinion. if he/she thinks though that it's best not to switch then so be it. mas importante naman safety kesa monetary convenience. you have to decide quick :)

consider the mother's risks. is she a premature birth risk? is a c-section likely? my wife was both. it was dra. tianco who actually coached us as to how we could cut costs.
regardeless of what hospital you choose, better ask for a ward assignement. because semi-private and private rooms will add premiums on ALL YOUR EXPENSE items (delivery room, surgical expenses, medicine, etc.) if all goes well and the baby is delivered normally, then YOU CAN TRANSFER TO A PRIVATE ROOM.
also, be carefull with these so-called 'cheap package deals'. the team tasked to deliver the baby may just be a 'chopsuey' team. a risky preganancy should have an ob-gyne who knows the mother's complete history, assisted by a team OF HER OWN CHOOSING.

delgado and manila doctors are good choices. you won't be sacrificing quality of service and facilities for their lower price. i gave birth at delgado (which has been a maternity hospital for the longest time -- dun pinanganak ate ko) which cost me 19K lang in 1998, including PFs (OB and anaesthesiologist), normal delivery, 3 1/2 days in their private suite pa. then again in 2001, emergency C-section naman, 3 days, suite, including PFs, around 32K lang. of course it helped that the hospital as well as my OBGyn honored my husband's Philhealth (i don't have my own kasi). my doctor, Dra. Solema Granados holds clinic at cardinal santos in san juan but can actually deliver at delgado. you can ask her secretary how much she charges now for deliveries.
you can go to delgado and check out their rates (okay naman din yung ward nila or semi-private). suggest you prepare whatever health insurance you or your spouse have -- see what the hospital will honor, what they will require (para i-ready mo na ngayon pa lang), how much discount you can claim, etc. check from SSS how much they will reimburse. sayang din if you don't claim.
expect mga 2 nights stay for the mom to fully recover. my doctor won't force you to stay longer than needed. choice ko lang noon na magtagal pa sa hospital to rest. delgado and their docs also don't resort to C-section unless absolutely necessary.
good luck!

A number of my friends delivered at St. Clare maternity clinic in Makati. Its name is maternity clinic pero it's actually a (maternity) hospital, yun lang siguro ang registered name nila.
Two of them have Dr. Lani Buenconsejo as their OB (she's at Patient's First in Glorietta) but another one has a different OB, it's just that she's also accredited at this hospital.
Rates for normal delivery vary, depende syempre kung ano'ng room ang io-occupy mo. I guess you already know by now na yung iba pang fees eh nagde-depend sa room mo (like the OB's PF would be higher if you're staying in a private room, etc). One of them stayed at the ward and they paid around 13K for normal delivery. Another one stayed at a private room (3 days) and spent like 40K - laking difference no?!
I haven't been to the hospital myself but knowing these friends who delivered there na medyo metikuloso din naman, I'm sure OK naman ang facilities doon.
Hope this helps!

try mo sa quirino memorial medical center...dating labor hospital sa may libis. i gave birth their 1999. but you have to go private kasi govermant hospital yun pero cheaper pa rin...look for Dra. Cayabyab kasi consultant na sya dun and if sya doctor ng gf mo medyo may special treatment and you can talk to her and negotiate about your budget...yun kasi ginawa ng mom ko before. or try mo din sa de los santos gen. hosp. kasi work din sya dun.

geekhead-why don't you try PGH pay patient's services? first of all, only PGH-affiliated consultants (those who are professors in UP-PGH) have admitting privileges there, and they're a highly select group. so you will be more or less assured of your physican's competence. secondly, maganda naman *** private rooms nila, and the rates are very reasonable. third, the OR's are also well-staffed and equipped. fourth, i'm sure your doctor will charge you a reasonable fee.
if you want a private hospital "ambiance", you can try manila doctor's hospital. very good services but not as pricey as the other private hospitals. in fact, a large majority of their consultant staff are PGH consultants too, so you have the best of both worlds.
i can't give you any specific estimate because the fees are arrived at on a case-to-case basis. maybe you can PM me more details:

1. first baby ba?
2. did your gf have an uneventful course so far/ or may ibang medical problems?
3. does your gf have philhealth? any other health/insurance plan?
4. how seriously are you and your gf considering a "painless' delivery? (epidural anesthesia). masakit talaga ang labor pains, but some women have a higher threshhold of pain than others, and can tolerate delivery kahit walang epidural. you have to keep this at the back of your mind dahil this will mean engaging the services of an anesthesiologist so isa pang doctor yan na babayaran mo ng pf. pero nakakaawa din naman kung sobrang hirap na sa sakit yung mommy ng baby...
5. can you give me an estimate of your budget?
ito muna siguro. maybe i can give you several referrals once i know more or less what your situation is.
p.s. you can trust me. sabihin na lang natin na i am quite knowledgeable re: this matters. i will explain in my PM. i check pex erratically but i will log on this week in anticipation of your reply :)

you could ask for a photocopy of her records so that switching of ob-gyne will not be that difficult.
you can opt for a lying inn hospital if budget is that tight.
all you need is yellowpages directory and a call. there is also online yellowpages... http://www.e-yellowpages.ph

hey guys. my wife and i are also thinking of switching to another ob. first check-up pa lang naman nya dun sa first one, sa makati med. parang ayoko dun kasi the first time we went there we waited like four hours in line dun sa ob, who didn't relly inspire my confidence. plus, going through similar threads here in these forum, parang wala pa akong nabasang endorsements on makati med as a place for childbirth. :)
we're moving to makati soon, so we're looking for a good, "affordable" ob and hospital na medyo malapit. tips, suggestions, recommendations are most welcome.
thanks guys.

wow! grabe, kung hindi pa ako nag libot-lobot ** sa pinoyexchange hindi ko pa malalaman yan lahat...
eniweiz, due date ko sa january 2004 but nag shift ako ng OB then she told me na the baby is bigger than she expects sa month ko... (labo ba?) ...basta, she told me na baka hindi lang ako 5 months pregy but insted 6 months na pala...
complicated ang pregnancy ko, i had my urinalysis results and its not good. They saw rbc in my urine, though, i dont feel anything weird about my weewee and wala naman stains ng blood. but anyway, i took this medicine na sobrang expensive (87 pesos ang isa and twice a day pa kung inumin) antibiotic sya, i cant realy remember the generic name pero, augmentin ang name nung gamot...
dahil sobrang mahal ng gamot ko, and i dont feel anything weird at all, sabi ng hubby-to-be ko na maghanap na lang ng ibang OB. He wants na sa Cardinal Santos Hospital na alng ako pa check-up. dun kasi sya pinaganak and nutritionist before yung mom nya dun. we dont know thre rates there, probably someone sa inyo may alam ng rates there and baka may kilala kayo na OB dun, pa refer naman. or you can email me sa ricel_06@yahoo.com
we dont have that plenty of money yet para sa big day ng baby... low budget... i dont want private hospitals, coz mahal nga... but is it ok to have my baby sa maternity clinic? some of them gave me their rates, 7,000 pesos sa private room and painless with medicine and gamit na... i dont know yet talaga kung ok dun. well, some of my tita told me na its up to me to decide... pero hindi ko nga alam e... maselan ang pagbubuntis ko...

Gave birth sa Manila Doctors sa UN Ave. I had a great ob-gyn at up to now doon ako nagpapacheck-up, kaso last time I had my check-up kumukuha ng nursing ob-gyn ko at mag-aabroad na ata. Anyway, okay sa Manila Doctors, mababait nurses sa delivery room at okay NICU (preemie kasi baby ko so matagal din kami dun). KASO year 2000 pa nun, ewan ko kung ano na ang changes kung meron.
Ask relatives and good friends din kung meron kakilala na great ob-gyn.
Definition ko ng great ay: gives you all her contact numbers anytime of the day, texts you for update on your condition, reasonable ang PF at feeling mo alaga ka talaga at sulit ang bayad

Manila Sanitarium is preggy moms' best kept secret! super cheerful and patient ng staff (sabadista kasi sila, nasa commandments nila ang "be pleasant at all times" sa murang halagang 20k for normal delivery (all in, including PF ng OB, w/c is aboutn 9k) you can stay in a private room na 3x as big as the rooms in st luke, mkti med or cardinal. (went to all, friends gave birth in those hosp). old american style bldg, kaya ang luwag! upside for me, downside for some, all vegetarian ang food. sabadista nga kasi sila. ang sarap ng baked goods nila, like cinammon roll and banana bread.
sanitarium rocks! lapit pa sa manila and makati. check it out.

Was there for the first time last weekend to visit my nephew and I was impressed too! He stayed in a large private room (P2,200 a day) which to me was so cozy, you'd never feel like you were confined in a hospital. The amenities were great, they even have towels in the bathroom. I think they really wanted to position themselves as a hotel-type of hospital from the very beginning. I also went around in the lobby area and it was unlike all the other hospitals I've seen. It was big and uncluttered. There was also ample parking. Yun nga lang, you really pay more for the kind of service they offer.

airendale, usually they give you copies of the ultrasound which you can xerox as it is printed on paper on which print disappears after sometime.
fyi, medical city has delivery packages, for normal vaginal birth, 20,000 inclusive of professional fee, 3 days stay, delivery room charges etc. 36,000 for CS. however, this is at a maternal ward. if you want private rooms, they said they don't have any packages for such.

My ultrasound technician was kind enough to provide us with a CD containing all of our baby's u/s pics ready for email use, including the 3D ones...but then that was here in the US.
Maybe you could bring a CD of your own and ask them if they can download the file.

asian hospital sheesh i wished i had given birth there kaso it's too expensive. Pero parang hotel ang facilities don. I gave birth at Alabang Medical Center they have an OB package and you'll only pay half the regular price for pre-natal check-up. Sa delivery nagastos ko 17000 private room. If you are from the south I would recommend this hospital. Masarap pa food usually kse hospital food taste bad pero dun masarap.

Ellheym, if u just want to check if u are preggy and u are on a budget go to Friendly Care clinic along Shaw BLvd near Star Mall.
This place is sponsored by USAID and various NGOs, competent naman staff nila and mura pa for checkups. Its a family clinic, may pedia, derma, obgyne etc. The medical price list for let say ultrasound and other treatments are posted ala McDo fastfood style sa lobby nila. I had an ultrasound noon sa Medical City it cost me around 1,800 to 2k pero yung Friendly care around 300-500 lang. Goodluck!

airendale,
i asked my ob-gyne about this as i'm about to give birth. she said that in st. lukes, capitol and medical city, both the labor and delivery rooms are unaccessible to any visitors, husband or family.
sa makati med, UST daw, they're more lenient. i guess you can call the hospital you intend to deliver at and ask.

airendale, i just inquired sa capitol and st. lukes. sa capitol, they have what you call a VIP Labor room. dun ka na from labor to recovery and can bring the husband and the mother inside. but it costs 20-25k for 12 hours. more if CS, and the price also depends on what room you get.
st. lukes has the same concept, a total care unit i think. but i didn't ask na how much it would cost.
however, if you have a lamaze certificate, they'll allow your husband in. i think hospitals have a lamaze delivery room or something.
geekhead, talaga? kasi a friend of mine na doctor said na pwede. oh well.

it's definitely a lot different having your husband thoughout the process. even if to just hold his hand. i'm lucky that the first time i gave birth, he was by my side the whole time. even got to cut the umbilical cord.
or try enrolling in some lamaze course na lang. will help you a lot too as they'll explain to both you and your husband the process you're going thru. it helps if the guy knows what will happen and how difficult it is for you. it lets him be a better companion throughout.

My wife is giving birth this april, and we're considering manila sanitarium. there's a positive post here about that so malamang doon na kami.
I was just thinking of a friend of mine. Nanganak yung misis nya sa bahay lang, with a kumadrona. Menos gastos. Of course, third child na nila yun at normal yung delivery so medyo confident sila sa ganong option.
Tapos kinuwento nya rin yung pinsan nya, nanganak daw ang misis sa local health center. Averything went well, both mother and baby are fine. And they paid a grand total of -- 50 pesos.
I wish i had that kind of confidence in local health centers. Laking tipid sana.... :)
But come to think of it, pinaghahandaan talaga natin yung panganganak, and we're prepared to pay the price so that we can have the best possible service. Pero how much better are the expensive hospitals really, compared to those health centers?

i just gave birth last sept 19. my ob is dra lyra ruth clemente chua. you'll surely love her. we availed of their package and due to the discounts we received, we only paid less 15T. yes the hospital indeed has a package, 27,500 for normal delivery and 45,000 for cs. you stay at the maternity ward. very clean and the rooms are not that small. you can make an ocular vivit if you want.

year 2000 sa manila doctors. yung sa ob-gyn, package na at P27,000 ang cs, ibig sabihin kapag monthly at weekly visits wala nang bayad sa consultation, from 5 weeks to delivery and post-delivery. tapos anaesthesiologist P9,000. hospital expenses umabot ng P39,000 (room, delivery room, meds, etc.) ako, tapos yung anak ko nasa NICU for 10 days, P15,000 pedia niya, P3,000 sa pedia-opthalmologist at sa hospital halos P50,000 (3 kinds of incubator, meds, tests, etc) din. yung medicare mga P8,000 plus din ang nabawas, pero malaki pa rin balance. pero naka-claim ako sa SSS Maternity Benefit ng malaki.

I gave birth as UERM, 55 thou all in -hospital stay of 4 days, room in with baby, and doctor's fees (ob. pedia and anesthesiologist). I really liked it at UERM, it's a "teaching hospital", so instead of nurses checking up on you, they have interns and doctors doing the job. They check up on you regularly though, which I liked, especially the first few days since my husband and I knew nothing about babies:-) but others may find the constant attention a bit intrusive. My doctor was Dra. Bolisay-Bongala, she also has clinic hours at Capitol Medical but she recommended UERM nga because it's cheaper plus nga I said I wanted adequate attention. My friend kasi had a horror story about Medical City where they had one nurse per 10 mothers, yikes, it took her hours to be discharged even though she could walk around na.

i gave birth at asian hospital jst 3 weeks ago and spent like 50 thou for a normal delivery (without any complications). according to my ob for a cs u are most likely to spend between 80-120 thou. but hey! its cheap considering all the benefits and comfort that u can get wen u gave birth there. well, id like to share this to you. asian hospital has a clean, comfy, and best facilities. they have really nice birthing room and recovery room. oh and a huggery/nursery too! (u can check that out at asianhospital.com). u can even bring ur hubby along while giving birth. they also have this candle light dinner thing with ur hubby on the last night of ur stay at the hospital.. and mind u.. its free! they also gave me flowers before i left. that was like so sweet of them. they have super nice and accomodating staffs too. hay.. dun ka nalang =)

according to my OB hindi naman daw nagbago yung rates nila..
I gave birth last September 2004 at the New Medical City.. Na-CS ako so ang gastos is around 70K inclusive na yung PF ng OB ko, PF ng anesthesia guy ko ( i forgot anong tawag sa knya hehe anesthesia effect ito), hospital bills, ( i got a medium private room may tv, aircon and own cr na wala lang ref), hospital bill ng baby ko since na incubator sha coz SOP daw nila yun pag na-CS ang mother and the PF for the pedia of my baby. yung nakuha ko sa philhealth is 12K so lumalabas nasa 58K yung nashoulder nmen..

Balita ko mas mura siya kaysa sa dalawa, for better service.
My wife gave birth last December sa San Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay. 2 days, normal delivery, suite (large room with ref and TV and sofas that are large enough to bed a person), all in all nagastos ko is 31K. Discounted na yan ng Philhealth (which is around 3K for the hospital and 2K for the OB). My wife's OB is Dr. Elisa Patricia Malvar-Cornelio. She also has a clinic in Asian.
If you properly file your SSS returns, depending on your contribution, you can apply for your maternity benefit. My wife got 25K from SSS, so pumapatak na 6K lang nagastos namin in all. :)

I gave birth a couple of weeks ago lang at The New Medical City. All-in-all around 75,000.00 nagastos namin. CS ako and stayed in their standard room (small private, with phone, CR & TV = P1,450/day) for 3 days. Sayang nga di ko nagamit philhealth, I skipped a quarter of contributions when I stopped working, mga 10,000 - 12,000 din daw sana mababawas non.
Maganda room, though maliit, may wide windows kaya maganda view. Ganda rin operating room nila. Wala rin problema sa food kasi may foodcourt and convenience store within the hospital. Wala naman akong naging unpleasant experience sa kanila during my confinement :)

I'll be claiming my sss maternity benefit, we're expecting na makakuha don kasi mas naasikaso kong ituloy yung contributions ko don when i stopped working unlike with philhealth (kala ko kasi with philhealth six contributions lang kailangan tulad sa employed members, nine pala pag pregnancy-related confinement for voluntary members). We're still waiting for my baby's birth certificate though, kailangan kasi for claiming directly from sss, unlike pag employed ka nagpapaluwal muna employer before ka pa manganak then reimburse na lang nila :)

7 years ago, nanganak si misis sa Medical City. Total cost was P10K but medicare and SSS took care of everything kaya zero ang out of pocket ko. Ni-refer kami nung boss namin at that time sa isang OB in Medical City na may "PACKAGED" deal (anesthesiologist - spelling?, OB, pedia, room). Qualification lang yata is may stable na trabaho. Sobrang liit pa kasi ng mga sahod namin at that time. Maganda sa Medical City pati yung kwarto malinis talaga. Punta lang kayo dun sa office na may tulay papuntang ospital.... may isang floor dun na pulos OB. Wag lang kayong mahiya about inquiring sa "PACKAGED" deals nila. Yung iba kasi nahihiya pa dahil may image na "can afford". Ako, I was more concerned na makapanganak ng maayos si misis kaya kahit wala kami, nag-inquire ako. Dito sa US, madaming financial aids available pero syempre you have to make the first move of inquiring. Maraming paraan.... lalo na para sa mga may will!

I gave birth November of last year at The Medical City (the new one), we spent 55K ceasarian operation that includes everything. Kaya lang I didn't stay in a private room kasi maganda naman ang ward sa bagong Medical City. Unlike other hospitals na curtain lang ang division sa Medical City its like you really have your own room. It's better if you make a visit there and they will give you a tour if its possible so you could see for yourself. My birth experience there was really a good one no regrets and I recommend it to everyone who's looking for a good hospital were they want to give birth. My OB was really G-R-E-A-T as well. Her name is Dra. Cecillia Vicencio try calling Medical City and ask the operator to connect you to her clinic and have an appointment with her coz' she is really good! Trust me! Also if you have SSS and Philhealth the 55K I told you would be much cheaper coz' I was not able to avail that coz' my husband is new to his work and I'm not currently employed. Good Luck!!! :)

You can also check UERM. I just spent 30K for normal delivery, 3 days and private room na sobrang laki last Jan lang yun. My Dr. is so nice as well, Dr. Ellivaso. Plus, in the DR there's certain area where the father can wait but it's still inside DR. You don't get to touch and be with your wife but you can still see her at least her head when she gaves birth kasi open yung divider dun.

She got infected kasi with staph or strep yata, naiwan pa sya ng 8 days sa hospital. Anyway, the facilities are okay, of course, di kasing sosyalin ng Asian. Pero the nurses are very nice, actually, everybody's very nice and helpful and the processing of the bills is very quick. Wala akong naipintas.

In case nobody has pointed it out yet, let me just give the "would-be" moms a tips on the matter. btw, my wife just gave birth to our 2nd son about 2 weeks ago so i should know what i'm talking about.
1) when choosing a hospital, taking a look at how much the rooms cost is kinda deceiving. for instance, rooms in Asian cost about the same as that of Medical Center Pque. The difference with this is that the other fees are much more expensive in Asian than in MCP. so, if you're looking to save money, choose the lesser profile hospital.
2) when looking at the rates of rooms with TV against those without TV, you'll probably see a difference of around P50-P200 per day. it isn't much really considering you'll be staying for about 3 days. But our doctor gave us a tip that a room with TV is already considered a suite. When a patient occupies a suite, everything that is billed to that patient is increased by around 30%, including PFs. so my advice, choose a private room without a TV, it's not considered a suite.
3) when you already know that the delivery will be CS, you could save even more by choosing a day that isn't a saturday/sunday or a holiday as giving birth on said dates puts additional cost on OR fees as well as surgeon fees.
i can't speak for every hospital on the things i've just stated but generally speaking, that's how they operate.
oh, and when my wife gave birth, it cost us 45k for cs delivery (already less the 8k from Philhealth) at MCP. she was confined for 3 days.

i gave birth dec 2001 at delgado hospital...i never initially considered delgado since i have my pre-natal check up in my OBs cardinal santos clinic.. however, my OB, dr margarita agdamag who is a well-known OB of stars (eg jean garcia, jessa z.) recommends delgado hosp to her patients instead of cardinal santos...
since delgado is basically a birthing hospital...a would-be mom is assured of round-the-clock attention by medical staff who are experts in childbirth plus it is not as expensive as cardinal santos...
my total bill for a 3 day - 2 night stay normal delivery in a juinior suite (kuno!) was P 35K including pfs...
plus super alaga kami bec of the low patient to nurse ratio

how much manganak sa Perpetual help hospital (las pinas)?

Jul 6, 2005, 08:39 PM
hi. I gave birth july last year to my second child. girl sya this time, my eldest was a boy but i gave birth from a different hospital. The first one which was last Oct. 2002 was in Las Pinas Medical Center which we paid for 30k. I stayed in ward (not an ob ward) since there's no private room available during that time. And since that is not an ob ward I was not able to take care of my child immediately after giving birth. He has to stay in the nursery room. It is really true that the more you have better room the more it increases everything from your medicine to your Dr's PF.
Luckily when I gave birth to our second child last year, I had it in Ospital ng Muntinlupa. Because I heard from one of my friends in our community that that hospital gives certain discounts to patients who are registered voter in the city. So what I did was I looked for an OB affiliated from that hospital. So I stayed with that doctor within the next 9 months of my pregnancy. And since my husband and I are registered voters in Muntinlupa my friend was able to help in securing approval for our discount and luckily with the help of the Lord, we were approved for a 75% discount. So magine that big discount we had? My baby and I stayed in a semi-private room wherein I stayed for 3 days. If there's no discount we supposed to pay 35k but we only paid for 11k excluding the Philhealth. My husband was the one who submitted the documents to Philhealth for approval. We got the two checks, SSS and Philhealth after one month of waiting.
So I suggest try to find out from your place if there is a hospital that gives discount to registered voters.
Like in Makati and Las Pinas they have this green card. They present this to the hospital and they automatically get special discounts. In our place, we submitted photocopies of our voter's registration papers, marriage certificate, barangay clearance, residence certificate and valid IDs (we secured this a month before my due date). We were investigated first before they approved our request. Of course they will see to it that you are really not capable of paying the bills.
Oh before I forget, I gave birth via Ceasarian Section for both kids. *okay*
Hope this helps!

Sobrang mahal naman mga panganganak. ive got 3 kids now and there really is a trick to spending for delivery. parehas din lang naman ang sakit na mararanasan ng babae pag ito nanganganak. One doctor friend of mine told me a secret sa hospital. the higher the room rates, the higher will be the cost of everything including medicines and professional fees. kaya ginawa ko sa charity na lang ako pumunta kahit may medical cards at philhealth pa ako. sabi ko lang sa social worker wala na ako trabaho dahil tapos na contrata ko. On daughter of mine was born cesarean and i only spent P500.00 My son who was born normal birth i have spent only P200.00. praktikalan na lang mga kaibigan. even if my relatives asked me why sa charity, sabi ko na alng wala ako pera at kelangan ko pa bumili ng gamit ng bata. Di ko lang alam kung kaya ninyo tanggapin sa pride nyo na hindi ilagay sa private room ang mag ina nyo. anyway we only spent 2 days for normal delivery and 4 days for cesarean. Malulusog naman mga anak namin. dahil breast feed sila for almost 2 years. hayy tipid tipid lang

let me share my child-birth experience as well. i was only 17 when i gave birth to my son 4 years ago. since me and my boyfriend were so young, and since our parents did not support us, we really had no choice but to choose a hospital with minimal expenses. we went to Metropolitan Hospital in Masangkay (chinatown), and i found out that they had what they called "out patient" ob services. my monthly checkups cost us P30. the disadvantages were:
1. i couldn't set the time, checkups were from 8am to 12nn only.
2. it was on a "first come, first served" basis, so i had to wake up early to make sure i had a slot and i don't have to wait in line too long.
but it was all worth it, i guess. when i gave birth, thank God normal delivery, we only spent around P7000, all included, even the P900 newborn screening test. spent 3 days in the ward with my baby. ;)

We spent 63K at St.Clares Hospital in Makati. Cs delivery. Baby is normal and for 3 days.
We did not get SSS maternity and Philhealth reimbursements. Because my ex-company kept on harassing me when i was pregnant (kc i resigned from them!) and they didnt want to release my papers unless we have the 'TALK'.
So my husband told me if i would end up crying and be harassed na naman to talk to them para ma settle my SSS maternity and Philhealth...Wag na lang daw. Save myself some trouble!
Deym. I could burn that company house down. Ill just wait for their karma.

My wife just gave birth to our second baby girl 2 weeks ago in the New Medical City. Normal Birth, spent 3 days in the hospital, total cost inclusive of professional fees, anesthesiologists as well as delivery room and Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit charges amounted to P43K. We haven't been able to settle the PhilHealth deductions yet, though.
But I strongly recommend the Medical City. Sobrang okay nung staff, and great facilities pati food sa food court, and even the in-room hospital food tastes great hehehe. Btw, we got a mid-sized room, with tv, cr, ref, and phone.
And from what I've heard, the doctors do charge you more depending on the type of room you stay in.
And for the person asking about Polymedic, I suggest you find another hospital. My wife gave birth to our first child there back in 2003, and hello, ampanget nung facilities, and we spent more pa than this pregancy. And to think when she roomed in our first baby na, in the middle of the night, nag-brownout, with no generator! Medical City na lang. =)

i heard it's cheaper to give birth in maternity lying-in clinics...is it safe, though? i mean, malinis ba ang clinic, ok ba facilities, maasikaso ba attendants etc?
i need your replies, i'm due nov. thanks
candy_kulet

yes.. they are cheaper. makakagsta ka lang ng around 5-7k sa lying in.
but the i heard stories den na sometimes when the "bahay bata" does not came out when you give birth.. chances are- dadalin ka pa den sa hospital to remove it. (daw ha! i dunno. no idea!)
just to be safe naren.. sa hospital nalang diba. why would you make "tipid" sa baby mo diba.
pero financially speaking.. its upto to them kung ano ba **** or san nila gusto,,

i just gave birth last week at capitol medical center. normal delivery. total cost was about 37k including PF of my doctor and the pedia. i didn't have an anesthesiologist though because i took lamaze classes. sobrang ok sa capitol, friendly and mababait yung nurses and doctors. i stayed in their small private room (no tv and ref, just a couch for visitors) which was ok naman. i opted not to go for the deluxe private because mga 1k din ang difference.

gave bith four years ago. my ob had her own maternity clinic but was affiliated sa Medical Center Muntinlupa. she gave me options whether to give birth sa clinic nya (cheaper) or sa MCM na lang. she told me la naman problems regarding my pregnancy so mas practical daw pag sa clinic na lang nya, kaya maganda talaga if there are no complications or di ka high risk during your pregnancy/delivery. spent only 10k for a three day stay in an airconditioned room, private cr, ref, tv and a guest bed. roomed in with my baby and super alaga since konti lang admitted patients sa lying in nya. i was very happy since i got more than what i could from a big hospital for less.

my wife is on her 24th week of pregnancy and is seeing dr. valerie guinto (350 pesos per check-up maybe more now with the implementation of evat) at asian hospital. because this is our third child in 3 years, it was decided that this is going to be the last. for a normal delivery (including ligation), we were told that it would be around 60-75 thousand. there are two reasons why asian hospital was chosen. first is the proximity. we live 5 minutes away. second is what they call ldr or labor/delivery/recovery rooms, the first of its kind in the philippines. my wife gave birth to our first two children in the united states, where ldrs are the norm and shed feel comfortable in one.
my wife had bleeding and had threatened abortion during the first trimester. transvaginal ultrasound had been performed on her 4 times at 1,600 pesos each (rounding off here, dont remember the exact amount). last week, she had her 4d ultrasound. in a few weeks, i was told that 4d would cost around 4 thousand pesos.
dr. guinto specializes in high risk pregnancies. she pays strict attention to detail and remembers everything, despite being in demand. shes not the type that would "shoo you away" during your visits. some doctors you can tell they cant wait to get rid of you and get visibly irritated when you ask so many questions, but not her. you can call her anytime and you can be sure shell answer her cellfone. just yesterday, 10/31 i got in touch with her at 7 in the morning because my wifes got the flu and she answered right away.

we checked out yung new medical city, and mukhang super ok manganak dun. mukha ring medyo mahal.
15k is yung rate nila for the delivery room
1450 x 3 days = 4350 is yung private room
so wala pa daw dun yung PF ng OB,anesthesiologist, pedia, and yung test ng newborn, pharmacy and supplies...

'gkano kaya dun? Same rate ba ng Makati Med or St. Luke?
pards if you have the money for Makati Med or St. Lukes I suggest you go for Asian Hospital. Staff are very nice.
Pag ok na ok ang conditions ng wife mo and the baby, ang estimate sa Asian for a normal delivery would cost you 30k-40k. Pag CS 60-80k.
Sa amin umabot ng 90k++ ang normal delivery ng misis ko dahil high risk pregnancy sya. Maraming mga monitoring ang kakailanganin. Oks naman nangyari, napanganak na ang aming magandang anak :-)

Dec 16, 2005, 01:08 AM
Let me repeat mga mare and pare.
Highly recommended ko Asian kung meron kayong panggastos with the likes of Makati Med, Medical City and St. Lukes.
Dito sa Asian, ikaw ang customer. Hindi ikaw iyong nurse. Iyong nurse mo ang gagawa ng gusto mong pagawa. At lahat sila friendly. Maganda serbisyo sa Asian.

hi there. I'm giving birth this february pero nagtanong tanong na rin ako sa OB ko kung magkano ang magagastos ko. Btw, I'll be giving birth sa Makati Med. Me pregnancy package sila ngayon. P35K for normal delivery and P58K for ceasarian. Package is inclusive of doctor's professional fee and Philhealth deductible pa. Sabi rin sakin na yung package price is inclusive na rin of blood-typing and newborn screening. Tapos semi-private yung room, meaning solo mo yung kwarto na aircondioned, with TV and phone. only drawback is you have to share the bathroom with 3 other rooms daw. pero siguro naman di na masama kasi i don't expect na lagi akong nasa banyo habang nasa hospital ako. 3 days rin yung duration ng stay.
when i gave birth sa makati med last 2003, ok naman yung services nila. normal yung delivery ko and it was a weekday so I had the entire lamaze room to myself habang nagle-labor. tapos mababait yung mga staff sa DR, very accomodating sila and maalaga. I had nurses and staff with me round the clock and every hour yung naka-duty na doctor sa DR checked up on me. malinis rin yung DR and may TV sa lamaze room para di ka masyadong mainip at mabawasan ang pagtutok mo sa labor pains. hehehe. yung private rooms nila (where i stayed at that time) was also very clean, comfy and spacious. Of course, sobrang bilis din nilang kumilos when it came time for me to give birth. Also, sobrang bait and galing rin ng OB ko, Dr. del Rosario. So all in all, I'm expecting the same service this coming Feb. *okay*

Total breakdown of my hospital bill and P.F.'s:
O.B. = 38K

just gave birth by CS sa makati med last january 25. Was in the hospital for 5 days and spent almost P160T kasi po nagka-complications ako. But when I was admitted, I signed for the maternity package. SOP kasi nila yun eh. Na-disqualify lang ako coz of the complications I had. But they still have the package and I was told that they won't be ending it anytime soon. Pero kahit na sobrang SAKIT sa bulsa, sulit naman coz I was well taken care of, from the time I was wheeled into the delivery room til the time I was discharged. Also, ang babait ng mga nurses, they helped me with everything pati pagbabantay sa baby ko at night para makatulog ako ng mahimbing and makapagpahinga rin ang husband ko. In short, I had instant yayas! hehehe.

kittykittylala, where I'm at, it's $10,000 for the 1st day/delivery alone (assuming natural, no anesthesia, no CS), $1600/day for each additional day that you stay sa hospital. Hindi pa inclusive dyan ang physician's fees (OB, Anesthesiologist, etc).
Buti na lang talaga may insurance dito. I'm not sure if discounts are offered for clients paying out of pocket though.

Yes, last year lang ako nanganak dun sa QMMC. wala po ako talgangng OB sa QMMC kasi ndi naman po talga ako dapat dun manga2nak, inabutan lang po ako ** sa manila. maciado nga pong naapaaga eh, 10 dyas ahead from my expected date. Ndi ko talga kilala *** dra. na nagpaanak sakin but according to my mom, sya *** pinaka head doctor dun kasi she talk to my mom before hand and she even ask my mom's permission instead to take in charge sakin since wala nga akong OB dun.
About sa SSS ko, opo medyo malaki nga po *** nakuha ko, company benifit and maliit lang po na kaltas sa Phil Health.

i gave birth last January2006 at TMC normal delivery, our bill was around 27k (may less na sa Philhealth worth 2.5k)
they have a package for normal delivery worth 27k
if your Ob-Gyne is affiliated with this hospital, ask about this package :)
kaye_taray
Mar 20, 2006, 08:04 AM
it would really be nice if you can afford the packages of big and new hospitals but for those who can't that would really be a lot... i myself spent more than the package due to some complications since i undewent CS both my deliveries... maybe it would be best to check out hospitals where your OB is affiliated and if you can't afford the packages have your OB refer you to somebody who's affiliated with a hospital that has lower packages...

^^^ it's like this... the amount you pay will depend on the type of room you're in... based from my experience when i was still studying nursing... the rates of the things you'd be using would depend on the type of room you got.. example yung mga gauze na gagamitin eh iba iba ang presyo based sa room mo... hehehe!! weird no but that's how it goes... kaya mautak dati ang mga tao especially pag major operation ang gagawin sa kanila.. they would first get the cheapest room like ward na pang 4 para mura lang ang charges for the OR and the supplies tapos after the operation the family would have an upgrade of room para daw mas comportable ang pasyente kaso naisip ata ng mga tao sa ospital tong style na to kaya usually ang sasabihin nila na nde pede ang upgrade to a bigger room after the operation dapat before or they would just say na walang available pag napansin nila na galing sa ward tapos lilipat ng private lalo pa at galing sa OR... hehehe!! tip lang po... try nyo baka pede pang umepekto para naman mas maliit ang magastos nyo...

i gave birth twice at de la salle university medical center at dasmarinas cavite under CS section......first is year 1998 i think mga 25k yung hospital bill ko less na yung philhealth....then next is year 2000 almost 30k ang hospital bill less philhealth na yun...actaully may mga co-employee ako na they gave birth din sa DLSUMC mas mataas pa ang bill...same lang ang roomrate us ( nasa ward lang po kasi cost cutting) pero magkaiba ang OB namin...pero same na private dr. kami(OB)...so i think it depends pa rin po so magiging OB niyo ang magiging bill...it depends kasi kung how much yung proffesional fee nila (PF).....and depende din po sa case kung magkakaproblema kayo during delevery...syempre extra charged pa po yun...
pero alam mo okey lang na magspend ka ng money during delevery kasi kung safe ka naman di ba.....i think DLSUMC is one among the hospital na maganda and kompleto sa mga gamit....

hi...I gave birth by CS last 2004 and will be giving birth again the same way this August. Last 2004, my bill at chinese general (Ward w/ aircon, accommodates around 5 to 6 patients per ward) was around 21,000. My OB (Dra. Cristina Lee) told me recently na ang itataas lang nung magiging bill ko would be round 1 to 2t pesos.
Recently, my friend gave birth din sa chinese gen through normal delivery, she stayed at a semi-private ward (2 patients w/ Air con), her bill was only around 12t..both pala un with philhealth ha..mas mataas ng konti pag walang philhealth

Hi to all,
This thread is very useful and informative to would-be moms like me. I will give birth, God willing, on November 2006. I hope people can help me out-i am choosing among Chinese Gen, St. Luke's, and Delgado. Which among the three is the cheapest pero good and safe service? By November, ano kaya ang estimate na cost ng panganganak...can anyone give me a rough estimate? What if i take Lamaze ....mas mababa ba yung magiging expenses ko? Please help me out...
Thanks.

meron po bang nakakaalam dito sa rates ng polymedic? :)
dun po kasi ako manganganak eh.
salamat po ng marami.
Hi, I gave birth at polymedic last January and I paid a total of 48,000 for a normal/painless delivery, roomed in for 2 days lang. I remember breakdown as follows: pf: 25k, anaesthologist: 8k, Pedia: 2,500 and the remaining amount was used for hospital expenses: room/medicines/nursery. Plus plus pa pala yun (exams for the baby not yet included) pero minimal na lang yung expenses dun.Eto pa pala, if you give birth caesarian, pfs usually ranges from 35-45k depende din sa ob mo. To give you options:
Normal/ward: 40k less
Normal/semi private: 50k less
Normal/private: 60-80k
cs/ward: around 55k
cs/semi-private:60-80k
cs/private: 80-100k
fresh from my notes. Check also for ob package, mas makakatipid ka sa ganun. Sayang nga di ko na avail yun cos i did'nt ask about it, I should have paid 37k lang sana. Who's your ob nga pala?

I gave birth at the UERMMMC on Nov 2005. Our bill reached 67T after a deduction of 9T for the Philhealth. I got 40T from SSS. Our son was delivered through CS. I stayed in one of their suites for four days (the room was spacious, it fitted 30 people at one time). We had excellent doctors: OB- gyne (Dr. Elevazo), Pedia (Dr. esguerra) and an anasthesiologist that I don't remember the name. We loved the service in the hospital. Will definitely come back when I give birth to our future babies.

hi mommies! i need your help. rather, my friend does. she's on her fourth month of pregnancy, kambal ang magiging mga anak niya pero hanggang ngayon wala pa rin syang maayos na check up sa ob gyne. she's really strapped right now, wala siyang trabaho, wala rin ang partner niya. kaya wala talaga siyang panggastos sa consultation fee ng ob. ang ginagawa niya ngayon, sa mga residente lang siya nagpapatingin na hindi rin naman talaga siya namomonitor. she's so worried right now. ang dami dami niyang tanong tungkol sa pregnancy niya pero wala siyang ob gyne na macoconsult. by the way, she's a young mom to be, 20 lang.
may alam ba kayong mga hospitals na nagbibigay ng charity? nabasa ko dito at may ilang nagmention. also, alam nyo ba yung parang charity ng st lukes? thanks so much.

Before ang original plan was Medical City, don ako checkup monthly, pero last March bigla silang nagtaas from 25k - 40K ang normal CS from 40K-60K medyo ang nakalaan na pera lang ay konti lang kaya ala talagang choice kundi hanap ng ibang hospial with our price range...

St Luke's sa three options: they have the birthing room, a private room where you will have your labor and childbirth at the same time. Then, they have the hrpu and delivery room which costs 4000/day each. Then, if you want to take Lamaze, the room costs 1,000pesos/day. The birthing room is so beautiful (looks so cozy and comfortable and your husband and family can be beside you)and the price is 27,000pesos/day including the procedure only. So the pf and medications are not yet included.

sexyladyyy - i gave birth at st.luke's last march '06. supposedly, lamaze birth but my cervix was so unresponsive, i was induced 4times, 2cm pa din ako after 24hrs. in short, 35hrs labor ko i was a sure candidate for CS but after much prayer and because of my OB's patience din, i was able to deliver "normal" with epid. thank God my baby was fine, no infection whatsoever, ganon din ako. it was a miracle!
total expenses all in all = P80T
expenses actually depends on how fast or how long you give birth. the longer your labor the higher the hosp.bill.
room-in din baby ko but i suggest you room your baby in on the 2nd day na so you and your husband can rest. if lamaze birth ka, of course, pagod din hubby mo coaching you the whole time.

Hello mommies! i'm due in mid-July (yikes, lapit na!!).. I plan to deliver in Delgado Hosp, kamuning. I inquired about their rates. Private rooms range from 1200 to 1700/day. Normal deliveries (3days hospital stay) will usually cost around 20k, that includes room stay, meds/supplies bought from their pharmacy, delivery room/recovery rm charges. Add on top of that the PFs for OB, Anesth, and Pedia.. I'm estimating we'd spend about 35k for NSD... Eh i plan to get a ligation.. (3rd baby ko na and i dont't want any na! I'm very happy with my 3 kids. :) besides, mahal manganak, mahal diapers at milk, mahal mag pa aral!). The hosp said add about 5k to budget for ligation procedure.. Although i have no idea yet on the PF for OB and anesth for ligation..
Hth.. :) Anyone out there who's actually given birth at delgado? How about ligation? Pls share your experiences.. Thanks!

Hello. New lang ako dito sa forums pero sobrang helpful pala siya. I'm giving birth this July-August and OB ko sa MMC or Asian lang affiliated. Nagbigay siya ng estimate na 60K for normal delivery tapos sabi niya 2x daw pag C-section. Di ko pa alam kung included na lahat dun pati PF... nag-iisip tuloy ako kung sa Asian or MMC ako manganganak. Okay na kaya yun or baka mas mataas pa magagastos?
Wala namang complications pregnancy ko so malamang (sana!) normal delivery ako.
Kung may alam naman ng estimate, pa post.

I'm sure it's cheaper to give birth at MMC than Asian hospital even if you're OB's the same. Confirm that from her so you'll have a choice especially if you're strapped for cash.

Hi.
I gave birth just last April 25 '06 at the Medical City and our bill was slightly higher than what was quoted by our OB. She said for a normal delivery it would be between 60-80K if we stay in the smallest private room. For a CS delivery it would be in the vicinity of 100-120K.
My husband and I decided on the superior room which is 2 price ranges higher than the smallest room. We also used the lamaze room for 6 hours, cost of which was less than 2k. I had a C-section so hospital facilities plus the professional fees of my OB, anaesthisiologist, and of my baby's pedia amounted to 130K.

Sa Medical City din ako manganganak. This July na due date ko and hopefully normal delivery lang. Halos ganyan din *** estimate ng OB ko. Her name is Dr. Sheila Illescas...

Elheym, salamat sa info. Would you (or anyone here) know din ba kng ok *** na parang walk-in *** sa medical city and just avail of those packages na sinabi mo? My wife is giving birth sa december pa naman. We're here abroad pa and jan siya sa Pinas manganganak. and wala pa siya OB jan sa Pinas.
Thanks in advance.

sleek116 your wife can go directly sa medical city, you can ask for a particular OB pero dapat magpunta sya don bago pa siya manganak para makausap niya muna ahead yong OB at macheck up din siya.
