Since somebody already tackled Choral Competitions, let me share UST Action Singers' achievements for the past years.
This is quoted from MB's archive:
"Since 1993, the group earned 20 top prizes in the international choral competitions in Gorizia, Italy and Tours, France (1998); Tolosa, Spain (1995); Llangollen, United Kingdom (1993 and 1995) and Lindenholzhausen, Germany (1993).
In 1995, the UST Singers won the Choir of the World Grand Prize at the 49th Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, United Kingdom, the first and only Asian choir to achieve such prestigious honor in the 53-year history of the Eisteddfod.
The group also capped the 1998 Gran Premio “Citta di Gorizia” at the 37th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale “C.A. Seghizzi” held in Gorizia, Italy besting 21 international entries.
The group will be the special guest in the 100th year anniversary celebration of the “MGV Arion Nombron” conducted by famous German musician, Hubertus Weimer in June and at the 25th anniversary concert of the Bayer Leverkeusen Choir in September."
Truly a world class feat!

Here's some Historical info on La Sallian excellence:
Who is the ONLY student that TOPPED both the CPA and BAR Examinations in the Philippines?
La Sallian Jose W. Diokno(HS'37, BSC'40) who TOPPED the CPA Board Exams for De La Salle in 1940 and then also TOPPED the BAR Exams in 1945.
It is remarkable that Diokno NEVER studied LAW in any university but yet was permitted to take the 1945 Philippine BAR Exams and then TOPPED it.
Diokno later became an esteemed Senator and a Martial Law Freedom Fighter together with his fellow La Sallian- the late great Senator Lorenzo Tanada.

So this forum is supposed to be a "glorification" of La Salle?
If you, La Sallites, were so confident of yourselves, why resort to posting such long information only you yourselves care about?
Can't you find a more INTELLECTUAL topic?
_Mase_
Nov 21, 1999, 01:14 PM
Helmut, Helmut... *sigh*
For your information, sinned posted this thread. It was for his benefit.
This thread was not a "glorification of La Sallites" to spread to the world their accomplishments. If they want to do it, then they may do so.
It just so happens that we're actually proud of our accomplishments.
snoc, you're too snobby for your own good. I'll talk to you on Monday about this. You're the worst!! :)
Do I detect a sign of insecurity here?
And yes, snoc (sadly) ;) is correct when he says that many students want to go to La Salle, but they just can't afford it. I personally know a lot of people who just went to the other schools instead. It isn't fair, and we know it.
Don't mind snoc. He hasn't been fed yet. ;)

p.s. pasensya na ha. sa golf kasi pag may isang winner at may triple tie for second, ang susunod na rank sa 2nd ay 5th na. diluted pala ang ranking sa boards. pasensya na. anyway, congrats to the 26 students who made it to the top 20.
