dlsu is the most versatile, wala nga lang law school. ateneo's trying to catch up now, nagbubukas ng bagong courses, like in engineering, and they're expanding na with new buildings. natauhan din. don't really know about the others.

depende naman yan sa course eh. each university is the best in some unique field.

i really consider my school as 'magaling'... it produces competent people and as for my personal opinion (o wala mambabara) it really made a better person... why? because i learned to appreciate even the littlest of things in life, i learned how to be practical, i learned how to be less judgemental, it taught me to accept other people and understand them kahit jolog or squatter or low life scum man siya, natuto kong makisama in short, it taught me how to humble myself, it taught me to appreciate and respect other people's achievements, views and opinions, it made me look up to people really worth looking up to but it never taught me how to look down on people whom i can say lower than my level. taught me how to deal with different kinds of people, mapacoño, squatter, smart, bobo, mayaman, mahirap, mayabang, mabait... name it, we got it. i still treat them as equal... i learned how to eat street foods with gusto, i was forced how to ride the jeep, maglakad sa baha (hindi naman), masanay sa pollution... in other words, medyo naging cowboy ba... (?)
u see during my first year i was really culture shocked and never ako nakisama, but kaartehan, kayabangan and pagkamata pobre di ba... whereas we all know that majority of ust's population are not that really well-off compared to ateneo's and la salle's... though it never failed to instill in me good values. and right now, it doesn't really matter if i am called pacoño, trying hard, scum, low life etc, etc cuz for me what is important is i'm being true with myself... no pretentions not a wannabe... i'm not being sarcastic at all ok?

i'm also proud of my school and i know we all are... peace... :)

Dito na lang ako magpopost ng aking opinion dahil nagmumurahan na doon sa kabilang topic.

I agree!

Dito sa kabilang parte ng daigdig....US News and World Report Mag identifies the best schools by Courses. Yale is number 1 in law....Harvard in Medicine...
Pero ipakita ninyo sa akin kung may Bulletin Board na ng re-refute nito....(if you're smart enough, you know what I mean)
So mga kababayan dito sa pinoyexchange, cool lang kayo....don't sweat the small stuff....your school will not defend you kung nagmumura ka....since you think your school is the best, and I believe my school is the best too...e di patas na lang....and please stop generalizing students from every school-bawat school ay may pangit at mahina umintindi.
Life is too short to dwell on this topic to think this is a small stuff....Let's move on!

I believe that a school is just as good as the people it produces. I can say that UP has given many people from not so rich families a chance to go big-time. Most of the successful people some of you mentioned were born rich and I guess it wouldn't take them a lot of effort to be famous because they know the people who were in power. There many graduates that U.P. has produced that isn't as famous as the past presidents or leaders but they still they are as productive or as important as these people. I just want to acknowledge that a school's greatness isn't measured only by the famous men and women it produces but also on the capacity of giving education a democratizing effect. By giving chance to less fortunate people to have quality education, UP has served its purpose to the country and its people. (it doesn't mean though that all UP students are poor --hah) ;)

the best school?
siguro depende sa concentration
Ateneo is very good in producing the best economists and bankers the evidence - look who the presidents of most banks they are mostly ateneans
Look at the president of the Philippines si Erap he is an atenean
---drop out pa!

piwi01 : you said--Look at the president of the Philippines si Erap he is an atenean
---drop out pa!

----EXACTLY and look at how "fantastic"things are going on in the philippines....he is by far the first president to call off economic productivity of the whole nation by declaring holidays every chance he gets.... buhay tamad my golly! declaring a good saturday to be a prayer day..yeah right..i'm sure maraming nag "pray and fast"...kaya pala punong puno ang mga malls noon...and mukhang he is going to declare monday nov29 a holiday din...*sigh* buhay tamad and buhay showbiz pa rin...

anyway...just reacting lang to what erap is doing "constructively(?yech! ulk!)"...no offense meant to u or to ateneo..pero shucks..i know there are a lot of good ppl that came from ateneo that are examples of good and contributing citizens..pero of all the ppl...si erap?????...

Sinong Champagne Morales? Sikat ba yun? Well, si Charlene Gonzales ka-ga-graduate lang sa UST (College of Science) as well as Miriam Quiambao. Pero si Miriam grumadweyt muna before she joined Ms. U.
Anyway, UST is the oldest school in the country & tama sila: Jose Rizal &other heroes as well as Diosdado Macapagal are all alumni of the university. Syempre, pagdating sa medicine, 99% pasado sa board exams. Kaya I'm proud to be studying here!

piwi01
Nov 25, 1999, 06:58 PM
Badgirl -- well i just used Erap as a joke sa topic na ito
btw, erap was kicked-out because of strict disciplinary actions meted out on him due to a brawl inside a c.r.
Ateneo is the school of our national hero Jose Rizal!
Ateneo is also the best performing school in the PRC Chemistry licensure exam last September 1999 and October 1997! THat shows na hindi lamang business and economics magaling ang Ateneo!=p Famous mathematicians come from Ateneo nandiyan si Queena Lee-Chua

Centers of Dev't ang ME namin samantala Centers of Excellence naman ang ECE. I'm proud to be a Thomasian Engineer.

I dont know why ateneans seem to brag about Erap na he's an atenean and drop out pa... men that sucks. I mean look at what he is doing to our country he doesnt really know anything but to gamble, gamble and gamble... and for Pete's sake dont you see it very clearly that he is very vindictive and he encourages nepotism and cronyism in his government...well i suppose ateneans should not make him as an example of an exemplary product of your school just because he holds the highest position in the land... well in fact he holds the highest position in the land but has treated it with sumpremely and exceptionally low regard.

well lets take the jose rizal stuff off k. I mean ust is exceptionally good way back those times but i think the problem is that the Dominicans really had a hard time to keep that status that they already attained.

Tama ka diyan Tomas!!!...I'm proud being a Thomasian Engineer too!...In fact, Thomasian ECEs are very well regarded in most companies including where I'm working now ( a multinational company). Who's No. 1 in Eng'g by the way?. I bet it's UP...I still have high regards to UP Engineers inspite of being a proud Thomasian Engineer. Kaya lang during the time I took an exam in UP, wala pang ECE nuon.

hey guys...all i can say is this...we shouldn't prove to everyone that our school is the best or what so ever! We don't have the right and definitely we can really never tell which is which daba? All schools have their own styles of teaching method and I guess that should be respected. Anyway, it's not the school that makes the students...it's the students who make the school...PEACE!

All schools have a something a little bit different to offer. UP boasts of a good education that can be afforded by almost everyone, a culture that one can definitely learn from and grow and mature, a campus not like any other... and the distinct title of being called "Iskolar ng Bayan". :)
