View Full Version : Why high tuition fees are good indication of good quality education

PEACE TO ALL!)
I'm not trying to downgrade those univs that has quite 'economical' tuition fees, ok. I just want to let everyone know that high tuition fees are really good indicators of quality education. (UP, of course is an exception since it is funded by the government)
Why do I say this? We just have to accept the fact that our respective univs aren't trying to make profit out of our tuition fees.(I know many will disagree) But guys, we should remember that these are INSTITUTIONS and not PROFIT-ORIENTED organizations!!!!(Institution - an organization whose MAIN purpose is to educate; not concerned with profit)
So, if these so-called institutions are not really into profit, then our money must be going to the upliftment of the quality of education. Am I right or am I right?

From what school are you? Just wondering :)
You're not by any chance from Benilde or Emilio Aguinaldo College are you?

That's not true. Fatima College of Medicine and EAC have horrendous tuition fees, more expensive than that of the top 4 med schools. They do not offer quality education at par with UP, UE, UST and FEU, unfortunately.

I'm not from Benilde or from EAC. But if you happen to know Snoc, that should give you a clue.

Seems snoc has been building a poor impression on you guys. I hope that you don't take him personally, I know he just wants to defend his alma mater, as all of us do.
Thanks for the insights anyway.

Of course I know Cons.
He's a pretty nice guy.
It's just that in his posts he comes a little bit too strong for the others.

Maybe, my dear Santo Tomas is an exemption to the rule.
Im really amazed on how Dominicans run this venerable school despite low tuition (which average around P18,000 per semester).
How come we produce excellent graduates? Board topnotchers?
How come they indentify us as one of the best institutions of higher learning, with so many centers of excellence and centers for development outdoing Ateneo and La Salle which charge high tuition?
Short of a miracle, indeed!

nope. High tuition fees just shows that education is more focused on business rather than in teaching. :)

with regard to the thread originator, i would like to make a formal request to the forum moderator:
insert a mini-IQ test in the registration sub-routine of PEX in order to prevent guys like rydex from inflicting upon us their brand of intelligence.
thank you.

So how do you know that they're not profit oriented?
Mabuhay kayong lahat!

rydex' logic goes like this:
philippine science high grads have negative IQs since they're not just excempt from tuition, they even receive cash stipends.

1) SOME educational institutions are run for profit. FEU and UE, for example, are even listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange.
2) INSTRUCTION is what institutions give you, and what you pay for. EDUCATION is what they hope you take with you when you leave. It's quite possible to get an education without going to school, and you can also go to school without getting educated.

rambus, all private educational institutions are run for some sort of profit. it hardly has any bearing on the quality of eduction.
i think ue is not listed in the pse. the last time i checked, the listed schools are feu and ceu.

For example: IVY LEAGUE Schools, Northwestern, Stanford..
high tuitions so they can afford to pay their NOBEL award professors and their Athletic Budgets..
