UP Oblation Run

r you running? hehehe! kiddin! just curious what's the story behind it? balita ko, the annual event is set for next week at noon. anyone going?? ;)

The Oblation Run is set on the 16th of December, at around 12 noon. Dec.16 is Alpha Phi Omega's founding anniversary, and they just thought that making their plebes/neophytes run naked would make it attention-grabbing. In that sense they got it right. The neophytes draw lots as to who will do the honors (there are several of them , though), and run around the perimeter of Palma Hall, CS Walk, and CASAA. They have small gimiks every year, like for example, giving a rose to pretty girls they encounter. To curious non-UP students, it's wall-to-wall "tourists" in Palma, and that includes mediamen and professional as well as amateur photographers, so it's pretty hard to really catch a good glimpse of these guys. For UP students, it's a "guess who that skinny guy is with the small thingie" game, since the fratboys are sometimes recognizeable as someone sitting beside you in class, maybe.

I've seen last year's oblation run.. and well.. when you've seen one, you've seen them all. This year's oblation runs:
UP MANILA - December 13, 12 nn
UP DILIMAN - December 16, 12 nn

Chx is right when she said you've seen one, you've seen 'em all (Oblation run okay, not that thingy.) I watched when I was a freshman and I was sufficiently traumatized that I never watched again. Let's just say that a naked male body isn't the best sight in the world.

Oh, in case some of you are wondering, true-blue males also watch the Oble run. But you'll have to exert some effort to find them 'cause they do such a great job of becoming part of the wall. ;)

watched the oblation run this afternoon. i didnt exactly see much. i was talkin to a guy friend of mine so kakahiya to stare at their "you-know". it was mostly pubic hair that i saw. nway, my friends told me din naman na you wont really see much talga even if u stare...if u know what i mean. i suggest na the guys start shaving or maybe trim it man lang para naman maganda tingnan. la lang.

December 16, every year, unless it's a weekend then it goes to the nearest Friday. Usually it's the last day of classes.

Crowds start milling at 9am, APO crowd control clears paths at 1130am. Run usually at 12-1215pm.

I remember my mom religously watching this spectacle every year... :D

FYI, there is usually an oblation run on the fourth sunday of the bar exams at la salle
