why not? unless you're lambasting other schools in the process, there's nothing wrong with it...

We should be proud of our school not because we find it better than other schools but because we believe in our school and its ideals.

"boast our school?" ohhh you mean brag about our school ok i understood you now. hahaha. now i'm gonna replied to your topic that you posting in here. i felt deep inside me that to boast our school is ok if you has something to boast about. but if you haven't nothing to boast about you might well keep the boasting to the people who are worthiness of boasting. :)

nope...because one need not boast of how great one's school is. The school's repute will eventually shine out from you. So, if you did not come out to be the product that your school has reputed to be, then, you yourself will eventually deglorify your school. If you come out to be someone that your school can be proud of, then eventually, you are already glorifying the reputation of your school. So, boasting will only be nothing compared to what you project yourself to society.

Bakit naman hindi? Basta ba hindi natin natatapakan ang reputasyon ng ibang eskuwelahan pati na rin ang pagkatao ng mga estudyante nila. Di ba.

I think we should be proud of our school... but brag about it? I think if a school is worth noticing, no one should have to brag about it. The school should be able to "speak for itself". :)

I think boasting one's school is not really a crime. It just depends on how things are said.Provided na wala ka namang nasasagasaan. On the other hand, may point din si Chiqui.

Criticism from those "outside" often sounds like sour graping, and praise from your own schoolmates is definitely biased and sounds like bragging.
I'd rather do my school proud by letting my achievements speak for themselves. Our actions may not be heard by our ears, but are felt in our hearts.
I ask only for criticism from those who went to my school, and aim to win praise from those who did not. Both sound so much more sincere and true.

Nothing wrong with that but as long as we don't put other schools down in the process.

Kuya Danny's right! Tsaka I don't think we should really boast about our school especially if we, the products of our school haven't really done them proud.

yeah, there's a very thin line that separates being proud of one's university and being boastful about it...
i agree with limerick, as long as you dont brag about others', it's fine to be boastful about your univ.

School pride is one thing, and boasting a different matter entirely. Being proud implies having something to be proud of, something that can stand on its own and be recognized by others for what it is without having to call attention on itself.
Boasting, on the other hand, implies that the accomplishments are empty - the act of bragging is, in my opinion, an attempt to call people's attention to something which is not worthy of it.

We should be proud of our school. But that doesn't necessarily mean that we have to brag about it.

i think we should be PROUD of our schools. i would be willing to brag about it when other people may degrade it or say something stupid about it. actually, maganda dati yung high school ko, pero now, not na... pero matatalino pa rin us! hehehe... Go AEM Science High!

If there is something about your school that you can really be proud of, why not boast about it, but if you boast about your school,
don't over do it. This situations might cause
trouble and be very tactful on what you're saying about, because some people might think that it's an insult, for them or their school, they will not like it. So, be cool and be proud of our school's. Whatever that school might be, even if it's a private or public school, be proud of it because you study there. :) :) :) :) :) :)

I don't think boasting is wrong per se... it's quite natural for human beings even. The thing is, some people just overdo it. When that happens it just gives me the impression that that person is overcompensating for something. You know- the type of person that goes "I go to this school-the best school in the world- and all the others su*k!" This just really sounds silly to me. I mean, what's the point? Call me if you've discovered the cure for AIDS or eradicated hunger in Africa and maybe I'll pay attention and be impressed.
Take pride in your school because that's part of who you are. But don't you think it would be a whole lot better if it was the school who's actually taking pride in you and what you've achieved?
