Guys, they're just thinking about it.

It's really not definite yet, although it would be a great idea.

The problems of good faculty members, the place, and finances are all taken into consideration.

But it's nice to know they're thinking about it.

LOL @ Jack!

My sister said that students from State U are really stuck up. ;)

In other words, MAYABANG.

Don't worry. She graduated from there.

That would be a very good idea but I think its difficult to get a "GO" signal from the Supreme Court considering that a number of law schools in the Philippines are being monitored as to annual percentage passers.

Naku...maganda sana yan pero DLSU should think twice. They'll go head to head with two of the country's best law schools - UP COLLEGE OF LAW AND ATENEO LAW SCHOOL.

We already have a med school, only a law school is lacking and were like Harvard na!:-) I hope this dream becomes a reality! Bro. Rolly we are counting on you!!!

La Sallian-Gentleman: So there you go. Can't you think of other ways of improving your University than pirating other schools' faculty members by offering them tripled salaries?? I believe that to be able to really show how competitive La Salle, is, they should start like what UP and Ateneo did. Coz if you do that, then, don't you think that its an insult to your school? I believe that La Salle is a good university. And to be good, it has to stand on its own feet and not depend on others and simply using money to get these professors from UP and Ateneo. It took a long time and a great tradition for UP and Ateneo to make it. So I think La Salle should also do that. I just think that it's pathetic to simply use the power of money to make it on top. Don't you think?

like duh, everyone's pirating teachers from other schools.

i think lek-lek's pre-programmed to react to any beneficial comment about her perceived enemies --lasallites. why she would steadfastly defend a tinsee-winsee school like ateneo, where the hardest subjects they could teach you is PPE (pilo, poli sci and econ)and whose bias against women is clear, is beyond me. maybe she's hung-up on a hunky lasallian she met way back.

Well its time.

Well, the thing is, if you want to have your own professors, then by all means send students to UP and Ateneo. After they graduate, send them again to other countries for further studies. That's how you should do it.
Because if we will just depend on pirating teachers from other schools by offering them tripled salaries don't you think it runs against the very virtues of DLSU, a Catholic University? There, such a materialistic view is the main reason why we have corrupt officials in government, we tend to think that we can do everything with money. And then, here we are, campaigning for Erap's resignation. What happened to the very idealistic views of us, students? Aren't we falling into some form of irony here?? Take not that what I am attacking here is the statement regarding "pirating teachers from Ateneo and UP by offering them tripled salaries". It is not just very nice to read since it goes against the very ideals that our own schools have instilled in us. Personally, I see that idea as materialistic and immoral.

And to hardguy: Why are you so mad at Ateneo? I know you're from UP. I'd just like to point out that your argument is very baseless. What made you say such thing like the La Sallian guy whom I met way back? I don't find it really logical, it just does not match my view of UP students, coz I know that people from the State U do know how to think before saying things. And besides, you don't have a right to say that Philo, Polsci and Econ are the only subjects that are taught in a difficult fashion here in Ateneo. Why don't you try taking subjects such as Theology, Finance, Operations Management, Laser Optics, Quantum and Classical Mechanics, and all those Mathematics subjects, and not to mention Management Engineering subjects. Like for example, during the recent FINEX Finance Competition, the country's most prestigious Finance Contest, Ateneo won it, despite the fact that we don't offer courses that are specifically designed for the different fields of Management. And who placed second, its DLSU. Those BAA students from your beloved UP just got the third place. I know that you really can't gauge on things like this. But then, you seem to talk in such a way like as if you're the best student UP has and that you're more intellectually superior that Ateneans. Well, think again, coz we definitely have a lot of students here who can easily dump losers like you! Pathetic!

Pano nga sila nag start?! please tell us! Anong ginawa nila?! Do you think They send graduates from their school to other countries to study law then bring them back here to teach in their school?

Its just a statement that hurts because its true. Tapus mag gogrow na from there.

Whats bad is kung inabuso na yun statement na yun by doing it normally. Pero nde nga ganun e. gets mo?!

Its not very nice to read pero totoo yun e.

Please lang, no more DEMONS in society!!! Let's not have a law school!!! We have enough DEVIL'S ADVOCATES in the Philippines already. Naging DEMONYO PA!!! And to think that they are topnotch from GREAT LAW SCHOOLS such as UP and ATENEO!!! They are the pride of their schools yet THEY DO THE STUPIDEST THINGS THAT ARE THE
IRE OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE!!!

We have already SATAN as a demon. Let's stop developing another one in the guise of a typical lawyer!!!

Stop the DEVIL'S ADVOCACY!!!

Hah! (Do you know the 'Lek-Lek' character of Oki Doki Doc...yung unano...gee I imagine its her who's you! ) Like c'mmon...what's wrong with tripling the salaries of teachers to entice them to teach in another university??? It's just like the real world...why stay in a job that offers a meager salary when you can transfer to another job that pays you well and provides you with professional growth? Pathetic if that you think it's immoral. In La Salle the professors are not just there to teach alone...it has transformed into a really research-based university like Standford where professors are required to do research work in their specific fields of study. So it's a win-win situation...you uplift their economic status and in return they provide new knowledge for the advancement of learning. And that's not very materialistic unlike you say. It's just giving them what's due to them...well, I don't know in the case of your old #3 university...maybe you should ask your professors why they transfer to the prestigious DLSU. And I understand that you really don't believe in ratings. That's your opinion ok. But like what the UP President said, those schools which attack the Asiaweek and other surveys are attacking it at the viewpoint of a loser. Instead of using it as basis for knowing your weaknesses and strengths as well as improvements, loser schools attack its credibility like sourgrapers. You're so naive and immature. Get a life!! :bop:

my beloved lek-lek,

you must add to your vocabulary words like 'statement', 'pronouncement', 'conjecture' and 'query'. i did not present any 'argument' in my last entry. i simply stated my belief that you're pre-programmed to enter a rejoinder to any beneficial remark on dlsu. all else in that last entry were given as questions and conjectures.

LEK-LEK WHAT A STUPID NAME YOU HAVE THERE!!! LIKE THE OTHER SMART PEXERS WHO RESPONDED HERE...WHATS WRONG WITH TRIPLING THE SALARIES OF THE GOOD TEACHERS? TEACHERS ARE SO OVERWORKED AND SO OVERPAID! LETS GIVE THEM THE SALARY THEY DESERVE!!! LA SALLE KNOWS THIS SO THEY GIVE PRIME IMPORTANCE TO THE TEACHERS, TAKE CARE OF THEM AND GIVE THEM THE SALARY THAT THEY DESERVE! TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A GREAT UNIVERSITY, EXCELLENT TEACHERS ARE NEEDED! AND ITS NOT LA SALLE'S FAULT THAT IT HAS ENOUGH RESOURCES TO TRIPLE OR EVEN QUADRUPLE THE SALARIES OF GREAT TEACHERS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS!!! TEACHERS HAVE FAMILIES TOO...THEY NEED DECENT COMENSATION FOR THEIR WORK! WHY DEPRIVE THEM OF THAT?

lek-lek,

just to further react to your message to me:

your point is fully taken that admu teaches other subjects besides those i mentioned; and that they are far from being the easy, insipid topics i implied. my mistake.

as to your suggestion that i try certain subjects, my hearfelt thanks. i studied finance and economics at the graduate level. during my undergraduate years, i took 15 units of physics (up to quantum mechanics), 10 units of chemistry and 9 units of calculus.

with regard to your stand that the qualitative aspects of different educational institutions are so divergent, so un-quantifiable and so significant that mere statistics can never capture the essence of the problem, i am partly in agreement. but then you resorted to it by pointing out the result of the last finex competition. piece of advice, learn to analyze on a time series. look up the results of similar competitions in the past.

i wish you had given it as a straight question: do i really consider myself smarter than admu graduates? yes i do. and the feeling grows. @}-----}---
