anyone know how or if this problem can be "corrected"? kasi yung younger sister ko has inverted nipples, hindi namin pinansin nung bata pa coz we thought they would "pop out" after/during puberty pero halos 20 years old na eh ganun pa rin...

yup, surgery lang kailangan nyan. depende din sa
classification kung gaano na ka-grabe *** pagka inverted nya.
sa pinas, mga 20-30k lang ang bayad sa surgery nyan sa
mga medical clinic.

You don't exactly need surgery. You can use a nipple shield. It is also used by nursing mothers who have inverted nipples. If you can't buy it in Manila, you can ask a friend or relative from the US to buy it for you, or have it shipped from an online store.

ivory, although this physical condition is unusual, it is normal. nipples serve as a conduit for milk in breast-feeding and i have yet to come across any research that says one type of nipple is functionally better than the other. the concern here, i believe, is more cosmetic. it is surgically possible to bring the nipple out for a more "normal" appearance. i would not recommend it, however. surgery is an unnecessary risk for a perfectly functional part of your sister's anatomy. this condition does not diminish the pleasurable sensation during sexual foreplay. how a sexual partner might react might cause your sister a slight degree of trepidation, but it should not prevent her from enjoying the act. sex being a most intimate act of love (not talking about casual sex here), i would think that your sister's inverted nipples will be least of her partner's worries.
there might be some difficulty when it comes to breast-feeding. the nipple may pop out a little bit but not enough for the baby to latch on. a silicone device called a nipple shield has been developed to mitigate this problem and is available (or should be available) from any pharmacy. this very soft device is in the shape of a nipple and is placed over the nipple. it basically acts as a "nipple extender" for the baby to latch on. please advise your sister to insist on breastfeeding despite of her nipple "problem". it has been scientifically and medically proven that breast-fed babies grow up healthier and with less medical conditions (asthma and allergies, for example) than bottle-fed babies. if the "nipple extender" doesn't work, she can always use a breast pump to collect her milk and place it in feeding bottles. she can then prepare several bottles beforehand and keep an ample supply in the refrigerator.

:naughty: i got inverted nipples b4, and it got 2 b a problem during my first few days of breastfeeding coz my bb can't latch...i wuz really crying so hard, and blaming my genes (bt i think ako lan ata inverted samin mgkakapatid eh)...it wud come out naman if i expressed my milk, bt ndi **** totally out, so, my OB and our family friend who's a doctor, suggested hav hubby suck it out...eventually, lumabas naman sha, and my bb has no prob na of drinking my milk and the teats didn't go back inside naman...hehe bt i dunno whether this is applicable to all the gurls who have this kind of problem...i told my girlfriends about this, and i was surprised na i'm not alone pala...madami pala of my friends have inverted nipples too, and i told them not 2 worry much, coz eventually it will come out (thru hardwork nga lang) and if u rub it gently, u can still feel the sensation and it will indeed come out bt babalik nga lang (if you're not breastfeeding)....i dunno whether it will creep back in though once i quit breastfeeding...wag naman sana...hehe

^^ I'm also a bit surprised by the off-topic replies. If this were done during Moderator Ira's time, these posts would have been promptly deleted and the posters sternly warned. Less clutter in these threads during her term.

I agree. I miss Doc Ira and eyedoc too. Thanks for the relevant posts and admonitions, Windangel and Annielise!
