i'm an IT grad but I'm not sure if I'd like to pursue any IT-related work(except for web designing or graphics dsigner *****)..another thing is that a yr ago my auntie who's working in the US as a nurse encouraged me to get a nursing degree after finishing IT bec it's a high paying job in any part of the world so my mindset was ok-i'll-study-nursing-after-IT..but a lot has changed,my fam is somewhat in a financial crisis right now..my bro is taking up nursing and is graduating next year..i'm thinking whether i'l enrol this semester(13 units lang) or let my bro finish first and consider working in the US or Canada since I have a visa..I need to figure out which wud b more practical and beneficial in the future..help! ***x's 3yrs pa me mag-aaral ng nursing..

well sad do say I.t. jobs at usa and canada is not a hot jobs as a other medical field, i think you will have a difficulty in finding a job in I.T. , if you want to gain exposure to I.T. industries go to China, Malaysia, and Singapore.

^^sorry, maraming lay off ang IT job sa US. Iba na kasi ngayon. Before, isang project, mga more than 5 ang nagtratrabaho.

kung sa medical field ka, you have more chances.

Here's a plain and simple answer to your versus idea. TO BEGIN WITH your a new a comer it will take you several years to establish, your lucky if do it in two years. Prepare yourself for things your not used to do. don't be picky when it comes to jobs, grab anything that comes and have your choice later.Hardship is not forever its temporary, once you get your feet wet then things started to get easy.Don't let your emotion dictate your everyday life, its tough and sometimes even tougher but always rermember its not forever.and don't buy YET.. material things you can hardly afford. About your IT jobs if can switch to automotive, watert treatment, HVAC or Bldg.stationary engineer you have a better chance of good and stable employment. good luck.

nk101,

You're not thinking it's legal to work in the US with that B1/B2 visa, are you?
It's not!
A B1/B2 visa is for touring purposes- for pleasure or for business. It's not intended for gaining employment and you would be in violation of US immigration laws if you ever attempt work under that status.

Filipinos who have abused their tourist visas in the past are the main reasons why it's so hard for others nowadays to even be approved for new visas at the US Embassy. Please, don't be a part of the problem that would only hurt your fellow Filipinos!

If you really have a US "work visa", you must already have an employment sponsor and a job lined up for you.
What is the problem then?

since you are a fresh grad, i would first suggest is to get experience muna. employers abroad hire you based on your experience. once you gained that experience, then try looking at the job market of both places. dont focus on 1 place lang so as not to limit your chances.

an advise first before jumping into anything BIG... really think about what and where you want to be in the near future... maybe you're contemplating to take up nursing but it turns out ur interest lies somplace... i, too, dont like IT but i stuck with it during my college years.. basta, before doign anything drastic, check yourself out first :)
