Just wondering...

Yeah because you know nothing good can come out of it physically, mentally, financially... Pero yung dentist mas malala, that drilling sound is one of the worst sounds a man can hear... I think all dentists are sadists... And that condescending tone... "Oooh what a brave lion you are... lemme just remove your entire top row teeth..."

Weeeelll... not really.. i just don't want another reprimand of how irresponsible I've been with my regular visits, check-ups, etc... :)

Why should I go to a doctor and pay a lot of money when I could just go online and ask for free advise in this forum? :P

Hehehe. ;D

Because my tolerance for pain is low. I was very sickly when I was young and on several occassions, I received a battery of injections. I guess since then, I've always had a fear of even being inside a hospital. There are so many negative emotions in there.

Cos' they stopped giving me toys and baloons when i turned 21.. that's not fair!!! :(

Seriously though..hospitals give me the creeps.. its that distinct scent of medicine, mixed with that musky "old" smell.. kinda reminds me of my late lolo. Plus i hate that cold, cold stethoscope that the doctors stick on your chest.. brrr lamig :)

I’m actually more afraid of the dentist than the doctor ‘cause just like what Kamatayan said, you know that a dentist is bound to cause you pain everytime you pay him a visit.

I’ve never been hospitalized in my life and can count in one hand the number of times I’ve been to the hospital to visit someone sick (I’ve never even experienced the death of a loved one) so hospitals don’t scare me. What I do hate though, are the physical exams. I don’t mind blood being drawn with a syringe but stripping is the pits! We had our company PE last month, and believe me, it was one of the worst days I can remember in recent history.

for me, there's always the possibility that doctors might discover that there's something wrong with you (aside from the fact that i'm mentally ill :)) it's frightening, knowledge is frightening.

When I was a kid I loved visiting my uncle, who was an internist. He lets me play with his stethoscopes and other medical stuff. But as I went to college and med school, I started hating my doctor visits...as you learn more you begin to imagine all sorts of worst scenario even for the most benign of illnesses...will my fever turn out to be meningitis? Maybe this cough is actually an irritation because of a nasopharyngeal tumor...then when I graduated, lalo ko naging ayaw pumunta sa doctor...mahirap na, your colleagues might make you chismis with other co-doctors kung magpa-liposuction ka. :D

I dunno, but I associate Doctors with pain. And as mentioned by the others, I'm scared that they might find something wrong with me.

i hate injections and everytime we visit our doctor for our breast check-up, i get paranoid sa mga cysts which is benign naman, thank God...

plus!... hate ko talaga kasi sobrang persistent yung doctor na magpa pap smear ako!!! (spell check pls)... ayoko nga! it's not that i'm putting malice but i just can't imagine a male doctor as old as my dad taking a peek inside me.... no way jose!

yup i hate visiting my doc-- i don't know why. maybe it's because i know there's nothing serious to worry about(coz my usual visits are when i have cough/colds---usually allergic rhinitis). but i when i was a kid(until HS i guess), i get so excited whenever we go to the hospital----no not the mab (medical arts building) but the hospital itself---especially the ER....ooh..lots of action!!!!maybe it's because my aunt's a nurse & that i rly look up to her---yeah, you can say that she's my role model....sad to say i didn't pursue a nursing career...=(

Based on the responses here, I take it that most of you would rather collapse dead one morning than find out you're sick and get cured?

Ada: Yes.. pretty much. :)

Ada, nah. I hate visiting doctors, but it doesn't mean that I don't visit them. Actually, I go often, compared to other people. Basta I feel something, I go for a consultation. But it's really not something I look forward to.

discovering that i'm a lunatic...
it's just that whenever a doctor has a patient he/she is like obliged to tell u that something's wrong else ur not a good doctor (well in the first place u go to a doctor when u feel something's wrong)...ewan ko lang!@#$%

I hate it when I have to go for check-ups. It seems that the doctors I go to are so palpak. I never get well or get valid reasons why I was ill whenever I visit them. I just hope I could find a good doctor to visit. :)

Ira what do you specialize in? may discount ba kapag member ng PEx?

anyway regarding the topic, i hate injections. one time my friend asked me to donate blood for his mother. he was a friend and i knew his mother so i said yes. but when i was sitting na sa chair, i backed out kse nakita ko yung syringe at needle na malaki tpos the nurse said that it was just for taking blood samples to know if i was ok. the real syringe for taking blood was larger pa. hay....
i have no qualms bout knowing that i'm gonna die. ok lang sa kin wag lang mga isang linggo na lang kse medyo mabilis yun. but what i fear is that the doctor will tell me that i'm baog or something. s**t man. it depresses me just thinking about it.

ross: I won't tell you what I am studying to specialize in, but I assure you, you would rather not consult my field. :D

kinda silly compared to the above, but my top reasons:

you have to wait

I like going to doctors! Whenever I feel something really funny, or if I'm really sick, I'd immediately go to my doc for check-ups. The only thing I hate about going to doctors during my childhood days was (not anymore now) that whenever I had severe tonsillitis (the one with puss or abcess) they had to inject a very thick antibiotic on my butt. Kakahiya sa nurse!

Paranoia, that keeps me from visiting my friendly doc.
Fear that he/she may discover some illness i cannot pronounce very well, then have to take a list of medicines that costs a lot.
One more thing, it reminds me of being a frustrated doctor (I stopped med school after a year). So when I wait for my turn in the doctor's office (which has a wallful of diplomas and badges to boot),it kinda makes me wanna cry or depresses me...so I'd rather refer to old prescriptions and take the meds written there since my usual ailments are allergies, asthma, cols and cough....
Pero siyempre, kung malala na sakit ko, I got no choice di ba, kaysa magising na lang ako kausap ko na si San Pedro!
I think only hypochondriacs enjoy their visits to their doctor/s like they are going to the mall.

Waiting for at least half an hour in the waiting room knowing that all you need is a prescription for antibiotics for your sore throat and paying P500 for a 5 minute visit conversation with your doctor.

Nope, don't hate doctors. It's just that as of age 21 I don't have a doctor, (retired na ako from my pediatrician of 13 years) and my mom just calls my aunt (pedia), 2 uncles (GP and Ortho) for free advice and and medicines whenever someone in out family is sick.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'd rather drop dead than find out if I'm sick or not.

I just hate visiting a doctor because I know that he/she would find out that something's wrong with me and that'd make my parents more strict with me [as if they aren't already].
