What did you guys do for your child's first birthday? What kind of party did you have? How much did you spend? Any suggestions?
Peace.

I wanted a hassle-free party so we had it at Story Land at SM Southmall, Las Piñas. They took care of the food (you can choose from a list of restaurants/fastfood chains), games, mascots, give-aways, cake, balloons. May free ride-all-you-can tag for 30 kids. I think we spent only 17K for 30 kids and 50 adults. I wanted a bubble show pa sana. It's around 5-10K additional.
I heard that around ganun din ang gastos if you hold it at Kids At Work (they have in SM Southmall & Megamall).
You can also set a theme for the party para mas cute. Kaso I did away with that kasi extra gastos sa costume. :D
If you are working on a tight budget, you can organize your own at home and spend around 8-10K for the same package mentioned above. Lutong bahay, buy sa divisoria ng pang prize sa games and loot bags, cake sa Goldilock's, balloons sa tabi-tabi, tables & chairs sa rentahan. That's what I did sa 2nd bday ng anak ko. Ang mga lolo't lola kasi nagpilit na may party ulit. Ang gastos naman kung sa Story Land ulit.

Thanks for the tips, Gabriela. I myself am shopping around for a good party package for my son's 1st birthday, which should be on the 28th na.
I might get the Jollibee party package for, say, 30 kids, and have it delivered and served at our village clubhouse (Jollibee accepts arrangements like this), then get another catering service for adult guests, and avail of a separate kiddie entertainment package. Although Jollibee's package already includes party favors and games, I'd like to complement it with other activities like face-painting or story-telling, or with puppet or bubble show.
:)

McDonald's is a good option. You only pay for the food you actually consume. No additional pay for the venue, etc. except for the party favors which includes : balloons, invitations, thank you cards, give aways - which you only get for kids anyways, and is at 30/pc. no minimum is required.
my kid had his first birthday party there and we just spent around 7T for everything -- 15 kids and 50 adults. :D
you can also bring your own pabitin, prizes, give aways.
plus, their prizes for the games are past happy meal toys.

7K for everything at McDonald's? Wow, that's a good package! By the way, when did your kid have his 1st b-day?
Sa Jollibee kasi, they had a good website, where you can choose from among different packages, then you can compute for the costs of everything, including additional orders for food or party favors. I tried searching for a McDonald's Philippines website, but to no avail.
Anyway, I got to try your suggestion, CraZyInLuV. That's too good to ignore. So go to their nearest branch I shall. :D

I was really excitied about my daughter's 1st b-day that I planned about 4-6 months ahead....the one thing that I knew was that it will be in our backyard and a Hello Kitty themed party.
For my invitation I ordered it and it said something like "peek-a-boo, I see you!", We hope to see you at Hannah's 1st b-day Hello Kitty style. I also included a sheet that told the guests the agenda so they knew when the games started, cake, etc.
I also ordered these large balloons, really gigantic they were 23 inch balloons. I had the hello kitty colors and had them create a gigantic flower made of balloons and had it stationed by the garden. I wanted the guest who arrived to stand by it and had their picture taken.
I asked my family (mainly cousins for help) and I assigned them responsibilities, the photographer, videographer, help with the games, snow cone machine, etc.
For food, we had filipino food for the adults and the kids I had peanut butter jelly sandwiches, hotdogs, veggies sticks, mini pizzas, don't remember the rest. I ordered a large carrot cake that had hello kitty's picture on the front. I actually bought hello kitty paper plates and forks and spoons and napkins to use as well. I also rented a snow cone machine so people had that if they wanted to.
As for the games, I had games for the kids and the adults (so they can interact as well). For the adults I had the dad's do a game of music chairs, but rather than chairs they used a small towel and so when the music stopped, they would have to sit on the towel on the grass. Another game was tug a war with the parents, I split up the couples so if you were married you and your spouse would be on the opposite team. For the moms, they had to race and eat a popsicle ice cream, whoever ate it all up first won. I gave out starbucks certificates and movie tickets as prizes for the adults.
For the kids games, I had the little older kids compete in putting a puzzle together. I also had a bean bag toss for smaller kids and a race to shovel popcorn in a bucket. Each kid got a ticket for participating and the parents could participate for the kids. This way, the kids can skip the big hello kitty wheel. I had my cousin make me a wooden wheel shaped as hello kitty with numbers 1-3 and one grand prize wheel. Each ticket represent one spin on the wheel. I bought about 50 individual prizes, all hello kitty related items from stickers, pencils, pens, notebooks, candy, etc. I had about 25 kids.
Being that it was my daughter's 1st b-day, I had our videographer (who did our wedding) create a video of our daughter with pictures of her growing up and we had this as a special presentation during the party while everyone was having cake. The video was played on the large tv and had some background music like the "you'll be in my hear" the song from the movie tarzan by phil collins. It showed pictures when she was born, when we took her home from the hospital, some studio photos we got taken of her, photos' at parties with relatives, trips to hawaii, canada, etc. The video ended with actual clips of her at the hospital (we video taped my delivery) having her first bath, then a video from her learning to put up her head, crawl to eventually walking. I wanted to share with everyone her first year.
As for favors, I gave each kid a set of hello kitty products, a cup with HK toothbrush, toothpaste, kleenex, band-aid, stickers and candy. The guys got the same thing but I used keropi the frog instead of hello kitty, also found in Sanrio stores.
For my thank you cards, I bought these card that could hold pictures and I attached the photos the guest took when they arrived by the large flower made of balloons, so they can have a family photo of themselves from the party and wrote my thankyou message in the card as well.
I had a lot of fun planning the party, it was lots of work and lots of help and without my family, i wouldn't have done it all, so as a thank you, I took all my helpers our to dinner.
As for cost, I spent about $3K for the entire party.
Hope this helps.
P.S. For her 2nd b-day she had a garden party, so that theme can work for boys 2 or you can turn it to a bug party.

i forgot to add, exclusive of the birthday cake yun. but you can order thru mcdo, 540 for 8x10" ata and 880 for 12x16". cheaper than ordering from red ribbon or goldilocks.
my son's party was just last may. the nice thing about mcdo kasi is there's no set number, unlike with jollibee. meaning, what i did was to order the chix and spag combo, burger mcdo and mcflurry for adults, and chix and spag combo + mcflurry for kids.
then i got the party favors for kids lang. and a cake. actually, baka mga 8t including the cake and party favors. but that's still cheap. free na yun mascot appearance (we even got two!).
i'd really recommend that to any parent. we really looked around for the cheapest deal kasi. :D

Hi CraZyInLuV
I actually heeded your advice and went straight to the nearest McDonald's branch after reading your post. And right you are, McDo offers the best deal in town when it comes to kiddie parties.
We arranged for a take-out party, and ordered 3 sets of that package for 30 worth Php4,000+ each. Now I'm thinking of following your style of having different sets for adults and kids.
I already got a clown package worth Php3,000, including more games and prizes and lootbags. That should keep the kids happy (in case my weed-laced brownies don't do the trick). :D
Thanks again, CraZyInLuV. :)
semperphi,
How you planned your daughter's birthday party is admirable. Wish I had $3K, though. ;)

Hey Jude, (saw you at ATC last Saturday ;)), why not try this Dog and Monkey Show, which, I heard, is the "fad" when it comes to kiddie parties. A friend says it costs around 8 to 10K. Will post here if I get info and contact details for this.

Hi Semperphi,
Where did you rent the Snow Cone machine from?
The party that you threw for your daughter was very inspiring!
I hope the party I am planning for my son is as fun!

Hi YouGoGirl,
I rented the snow cone machine from a company called Fun Services.
Thanks for the complement. Her first b-day was a big celebration for me and my husband not just because she turned one, but it took us 4 years to have her...so as you can see we just went all out. It's a lot of work, but all worth it.
Good luck on your party!

For my daughter Zoe's 1st birthday party I had it at McDo in St Francis Square infront of Megamall. It's affordable, had about 70-80 guests and paid around 13K. The food is the pinaka-complete in the package w/ chicken, spaghetti, cheeseburger, drink and mcflurry (i heard they don't offer na that package anymore). that includes the invites, giveaways, prizes, etc. but one thing i noticed is that mcdo tries to rush things at the party so the program just lasts from 30-45mins lang cuz may susunod pa na family having a party after ours.
for her 2nd bday party we decided to just do a simple one and invite some kids over at our house. really basic - cake, balloons, ice cream, spaghetti, etc. and then it rained so hard kaya naawa ako and promised her that i'll give her a great party when she turns 3.
her party will be at country waffles, eastwood libis in july (where my son's baptism was also held last year). we were really satisfied with CW because of their food and service, especially if you have a function in their resto. i've ordered their international buffet (like before) and hired from CW extra food carts like french fries and cotton candy, so i won't have to pay corkage if i contact other suppliers for the food carts (CW offer also party packages and you can choose from their list of balloon decor, magicians, bubble show, etc). medyo mahal nga lang ang CW, pero what's more important talaga is the food. i've gotten lots of compliments during my son's baptism on the food served, maski yun mga maselan kong relatives and friends pagdating sa food super bilib sa sinerve ng CW. Total cost of the menu for 60ppl including the french fries and cotton candy food carts is PhP 32K.
i've hired a party planner (Party Network) to do her BLUES CLUES themed party. We were supposed to do a Dora The Explorer theme party but Dora is still new, hence party planners do not have materials yet for Dora.
(originally, i was supposed to get the uber popular Party Perks to do her party, but I find that they're not very accomodating and their prices are way too steep. Pang-artista kasi prices nila cuz they handled the parties of the kids of Richard/Lucy Gomez, Ogie/Michelle Alcasid and Aga/Charlene Muhlach.)
i went with one of Party Network's packages which includes a party theme host/magician, balloon centerpieces, theme hats, loot bags, name tags, pabitin, piñata, invitations, etc. complete na sya and i was supposed to hire a BLUES CLUES mascot but i had it cancelled cuz i noticed that my daughter became terrified of mascots (especially Grimace). so im not sure if she'll react the same way maski si Blue yun mascot. the mascot goes for 2.5K so sayang lang. also included in the package is the party host/magician that includes: party hosting in theme costume, has a party assistant, will conduct games for kids and adults, will do a magic show with live animals and the usual candle blowing activities. the whole program lasts for 3 hours. Party Network offers other party services also and you can choose from the list (including that dog and monkey show). total cost of the package is PhP 14K.
I've also hired face painters for the party, cuz I heard kids love it. The cheapest i found are those ppl from www.coloredsmiles.com. Their fee for 2 face painters for 3 hours unlimited face painting (full face or cheek art) is PhP 3K.
For the cake, we decided to go to Goldilocks cuz they offer a wide array of character cakes at affordable prices. We ordered a Blues Clues cake for only PhP 920.00. The cost was shouldered by my sister (who's also her Ninang).
I've assigned my sister and cousin to handle the photography and video coverage to save costs.
I know it's a bit steep, but it's one of those parties that you and your daughter are sure to remember and cherish.
I'm also excited about my son's upcoming first birthday in October and am now making plans as to what theme we're going with.

Oh, btw, Party Network also offers that Dog & Monkey show for PhP 7.5K. Their number is 9267965/4335589.
It's also a good idea to have your kid's party registered at toy stores/department stores. I had my son's baptism registered at Rustans and we chose what gifts we preferred and almost all of the list were bought, hence we did away with unecessary gifts.
For my daughter's upcoming party, we had her registered at Toy Kingdom. She chose the gifts she liked and the list can be available at all Toy Kingdom outlets. TK will give you cards that you can attach with the invitations saying she is registered at all Toy Kingdom stores and give you cash coupons (100, 50 and 10 pesos off) to let you and your guests avail of discounts when purhcasing the gifts.

All in all, you should have mga P30000 para sa decent na binyag.

let me share what i did. hopefully you can pick up a tip or two.
when my daughter had her baptism i insisted that guests wait for us at the reception site. there were only seven people present in church: the priest, my daugher, godfather, godmother, my niece who was kind enough to videotape the whole thing, my wife and myself.
it was a real solemn occasion indeed.
the reception, however, was the complete opposite. i had it at the house we were staying at at that time and had about 150 guests. i ordered lechon baboy, lechon baka that was lechoned on site, and a bunch of filipino food my mother had ordered from some caterer whose name i cant remember. the food was pretty good, i saw some non-filipino people munching on lumpia with the sweet and sour dip. my older relatives set up two mahjong tables, other people got together in the living room for some karaoke singing. my friends were at the backyard drinking. all that, plus a seemingly endless flow of corona and heineken, merlot, chardonnay, and tequila.
people who came to eat were stuffed when they left and people who came to drink were hella drunk when then they left.
i personally think its better if you have it at a house since time isnt limited. you get to share the day with people you care to share the occasion with.

Likewise, my daughter's binyag was held in my parents' house and I had someone cater. It was just a simple baptism, but everytime I remember it, it still gives me warm feelings. :flower:
I think it is always better to hold it at home because then you can spend more on food. Alam mo naman us pinoys, when we say "handaan", talagang "handaan"... And also, you get to have all sorts of activities inside the house. :flower:

yun nga sana balak ko p cater na lang. I'm thinking din kung sa province sa Tarlac o here na lang sa Manila. Sa place kasi namin may function room na. A good and affordable caterer na lang plus the chairs and tables.

Is it totally necessary to get souvenirs for the baptism? We'll be having our son's baptism this coming Thanksgiving weekend, and yes, sa house lang, pa-cater. But do I need souvenirs? Parang nao-oa-an ako.
What other activities are done during a baptism? Basta kainan lang? No games or what-nots?

last may, we celebrated my son's 1st bday cum baptismal na din.
since we wanted it hassle free, we hired the services of party coordinator. siya ang in charge sa invitation, cakes, decors, hosts, show., food carts are optional. wala pa iyong prizes for the games. i think we paid her around 25k, including 4 food carts (bbq, kropek, ice cream and french fries) and face painter.
hindi pa kasali doon iyong food for the reception, which was held at acacia in greenhills. depends naman sa food na pipiliin mo. meron silang p125.00/pax sa merienda.
ok naman. the puppet show was not the usual puppet show na ginagamit ang kamay na binalutan ng socks. they used real puppets na doll type. we had 3 shows - scooby doo, power puff girls and sesame street (the party's theme, btw). the place was decorated well (sa tingin ko tama lang kasi medyo mahal binayad ko, diba?).
both adults and kids enjoyed themselves. according to them, it's not the usual children's party. kasi iyong games, may participation ang adults. i even requested the host (who came in elmo costume nga pala) to have a game for the yayas.
justify ko lang ha. kaya ako nag spend ng ganoon (around 60k kasi nagastos ko with the food and prizes), kasi 2-in-1 naman siya. binyag and birthday. sa first born ko kasi, isang binyag ang isang 1st bday. 5 years ago, i think we spent total of 40k for the 2 ocassions.
hehe, in fairness, mukhang sosi iyong party namin sa acacia.
tip ko lang - we shied away from "distracting" party places. kasi iyong 1st bday ng daughter ko was held in dreamscape robinsons galleria. the kids, having short attention span, hindi nagparticipate sa games, kundi, lumabas sa party place and nag lakad-lakad sa dreamescape. di ba, kainis.
at least dito, talagang may audience participation sila, kasi wala silang choice.

baptised at st. paul the apostle (along timog)
party at the penthouse of our office building (walking distance from the church). i paid our concessioner 10,000 for 40 people (250/head). this concessioner knows her stuff. the quality of her food is as good as chinatown's best (in banawe) and a lot cheaper. menu:
pork chops in green peas
tilapiang pinaputok
hainanese chicken quarters
some fried chicken, pork chops and barbecue for the kids
one big platter of steamed oysters for each table
one big table groaning with organically-grown lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, japanese corn, sweet potatoes, three kinds of fruits
three kinds of salad dressing
one big bowl of seaweed salad (lato)
one big bowl of shrimp salad (w/ fruit cocktail, ham, and walnuts. yummy!)
acres of leche flan.
the 'bar' was open with softdrinks, mineral water and ice cream cups for the kids.
all my guests were impressed.

If my memory serves me right, Sofi's baptismal costs were the following:
Baptismal Outfit PhP 350
Church expenses PhP 2000
Invitations PhP 2200
Catering PhP 14000
Drinks (including beer and wine) PhP 5000
TOTAL: PhP 23,550 for 70 people.
You can make PhP 20,000 work for 50 people if you have the patience to canvas for different places/caterers and if you have really good bargaining powers.
Good luck!!

hello everyone! i'm a newbie here and i just love this thread coz im in the act of preparation for my daughter's 1st bday party in November. I want a hassle-free party coz i'm a working mom and does not have the time to organize so hubby and I came with a list of fastfood/restaurants that offer kiddie party packages...we have shortlisted the following and would appreciate your inputs on where best to hold my baby's party...
·Kenny rogers
·Don henricos
·Country Waffles
·TGI Fridays
Thanks very much!

I think the first three places are okay for a first birthday party. I've been to a first birthday party at Don Henrico's and the food's good. They had pesto pasta, buffalo wings, pizza and one more, I think it's garlic bread. Of course Don Hen the mascot was there, and it was fun for the kids. Best of all they get to stay there for a pretty long time cos the entire 2nd floor of the restaurant (along West Avenue) was closed for the party.

Thanks annielise! My hubby's #1 choice is actually Don Henrico's and exactly the same place where you've been to, the West Avenue Branch. My choice kasi is TGI Fridays kaso its a bit pricey and there is no exclusive party place unlike in Don Hen. Hmmm....i'm now having second thoughts na about Fridays and might give my hubby a nod on his choice. Thanks again for your inputs... ;)

why don't you try this....
to minimize the expenses i asked some of my friends to contribute like gift ng friend ko yung invitations, yun isa naman yung give-aways and yung baptismal dress dapat daw galing sa godparent.
i have a friend na potluck yun binyag and okay din kasi practical na dapat.

it depends.. sa don bosco a private chapel would cost 3,500. Pero kung di sya private baptism 750 for the 1st Pair tapos suceeding 100 for every pair.. Walang limit ng number of ninong and ninang.

I also wanted to thank everyone again. My son's first birthday is next month and we definitely got a lot of great ideas from this thread. We've already booked a face painter and someone to cater.
We'll most likely get our materials for the party from Divisoria and have a lot of family and friends participate in organizing the party.
Peace.

ang pinaka gusto ko sa binyag o ano mang handaan ay ang preparation...where you rack your mind for a lot of tiny details para lang gumanda ang celebration...
da best yang potluck kasi aside from it being very practical, lalabas na parang walang bisita at binibisita...so parang at ease lahat ng nandoon
i had my daughter baptized with a budget of less than 5t.syempre sa house.mga kamag-anak ang nagluto (gift ng ninong ang isang baboy, and a lot of fish.so kailangan na lang halos ay rekado) just paid about 200 for the church, special na yun kasi anak ko lang bininyagan(pero, we were actually laughing then kasi walang medyas yung pari.mas mukha pang pari yung assistant niya..hehehe).ako ang gumawa ng giveaways and invites, ako na rin nagtahi ng damit.
ma-hassle pero all in all, pwede na....

We are planning to have my baby baptized as soon as possible, not more than 2 months old. I believe baptism is very important should anything happen to the baby (God forbid).

Sep 17, 2003, 01:08 AM
pero about baptism din...
How do you turn down somebody who asks you to be one of the godparents of her kid? I mean, right now, I have this super legit reason since d pa 3 years dead ang lola ko.
Pero paano na next time? I don't believe in the ninang thing taken lightly. I hate it when people get ninangs for the gift. E, I don't want to be a ninang of someone I don't even think I will bother to ask about after the ceremony...
So, what's the most tactful way of saying no without offending the parents of the kid? :)
tortangpagong
Sep 17, 2003, 11:44 PM
just say, you dont feel that youre ready to be a ninang/ninong. its a perfectly good reason, and besides, the parents are asking you, not demanding that you be the ninang...
a harder question is, how do you say no to someone who volunteers himself/herself to be a godparent?

We had our son's first birthday part last Saturday and it was a success. About 100 people came with about 30 kids. We had a face painter, magician and pabitin. The theme was "finding Nemo" so we had the cake, givaways, and table covers with Nemo in it. Aside from catering, we also had fish balls and dirty ice cream as part of the food.
Peace.

in our family, we only get ninong/ninang from among my brothers and sister. we really take the "task" to heart. kasi di ba, if anything happens to the parent, the ninong/ninang are "expected" to help put the child through school, etc.. sino pa ba naman ang pwede mong brasuhin but immediate family members? so binyag are really family affairs - kami kami lang. babies are baptized before the mother goes back to work

Hi! I would like to revive this topic coz its only 2 weeks away for my little girls' 1st b-day party. So far, i have prepared the following...
* Booked a venue for the party (the venue comes with party amenities like loot bags, party hats, name tags, clown/host)
* Chose the menu – buffet set-up for the adults and plated for the kids
* Hired the services of party planner to do the theme cake, cupcakes, cookie lollipops; to do the balloon decors around the party area; character pinata and pabitin
* Bought give-aways for the kids (sanrio character stuffs)
* Prepared the give-aways for the adults (personalized CD)
* Bought prizes for the games
* Sent out the invitations two weeks ago
* Bought my daughter's b-day dress, shoes, stockings and hair accessories
Now, I am thinking of buying a sort of a guest book where the guest can sign in and write their wishes for my baby. But i don't want to buy the usual guest book or the signature frame. What something unique can you suggest?
Also, given the above, kindly tell me what else did I miss???
Many thanks moms and dads!
:)

something unique? buy a blank sketch pad. gawin mo na ring scrap book where you can stick photos, invites, cards of guests, candywrappers, headline that day, etc. tapos, pag puno na, pa hard bound mo sa copylandia or something, cloth bound with your kid's fave blanket. di ba bongga!
annielise
Nov 22, 2003, 01:30 AM
Hey pagma_lilip..did you get to book Don Henrico's? You can have a sketch pad and for each page a lot a couple of people who'll sign. Use different colored pens preferably with scents. I used different-colored pens with the appropriate scent (pink pen with strawberry scent, violet with grape scent, etc) during our wedding, and it's been 2 years and the scent's still there. Then if you have a digicam (or regular cam), take a picture of said guest with your baby with them, then have it printed and stick it on the page beside their signatures. You can probably limit the pictures to those of close friends and relatives. Stick also mementos like the menu, party hats, souvenirs, bday cards and the like... Then have it bound.
Goodluck.

Thanks pochero and annielise for the suggestions!
Had my baby's first b-day party yesterday at fazoli's eastwood and it was definitely a success! More adults came, about 80 of them and 25 kids lang; but all had fun with the games, prizes, clowns, mascot, cake, etc. Even my little angel had fun mingling with her guests, she kept smiling and dancing all throughout the party. I am so surprised that she was not afraid with the clown and mascot considering that the other older kids tried avoiding them out of fear. Yung baby ko, humahabol pa..;-) All guests were complimenting me about how great the food was. As in fazoli's servings for each of the guests came not in plate but in platter! That's with 3 kinds of pasta, chicken, and a big slice of pizza in each platter! ;-)
For the adults, i gave them personalized CDs as give-aways and for the kids, Sanrio stuffs naman. The kids were just too excited about the give-aways, as in pinuno ko ang hello kitty plastic bags ng sanrio stuffs.
For the guests to sign in, i saw this big ceramic plate from color me mine, shangri-la which comes with non-staining ink of various colors. Had my adults guests signed at the plate using the inks while the kids stamped their fingerprints and had their names written above their prints. My daughter's hand print naman is right in the middle of plate. Later, i will send the plate for glazing. ;-) I find this unique and very classy. Thanks to mommy pages of maxibear (dun ko kasi nakita yung sample plate).
So there mommies, just want to share with you my excitement on how my baby's party went by. And i thank God that with all the preparations that i've done (since June i started preparing na), everybody went home happy and with smiles on their faces.

hi aimsim!
my little girl celebrated her 1st bday at fazoli's eastwood last november and it was definitely a success! everyone had fun, including of course our dear b-day girl. the guests were complimenting me how great the food was. as in super laki servings ng fazoli's, not in a plate but in a platter! that consisted of a big slice of pizza, 3 kinds of pasta, chicken, and garlic bread. ;-) plus ice cream or cakes for dessert and refillable iced tea.
you can have the entire 2nd floor exclusively for you if you have at least a hundred guests. their clown is a good host too. he speaks good English, even my expat bosses enjoyed the program. ;-) they have tommy tomato as the mascot too.
just like you kasi, i want to deviate na from the usual mcdo and jollibee. so we scouted around for alternative party venues like kenny rogers, don henricos, tgi fridays, and country waffles. we specifically chose fazoli's because of its nice ambiance and we never regretted naman our choice.
Advance Happy B-day to your daughter and Good luck on your preparations.
to shengyap: i have the details of Don Hen b-day packages. We initially chosed Don Hen kasi as the party venue but we had a very bad experience in making the reservations, and i promised to myself that i would never go into business with Don Hen - West Avenue again. its another long story though...:)

The birthday parties that I've been to where the kids and the parents seemed to have a good time are at Kids-at-Work (Megamall) and in Country Waffles in Eastwood.
If you need help organizing your baby's party, you can contact Parties Unlimited. They're located at the 2/F Lobby, Madison Square, Madison St. cor Ortigas Ave, North Greenhills. Telephone number is 723-9118. You can also email them at ana_partiesunlimited@yahoo.com. They have anything and everything for kiddie parties. :)

hi the_Bugs!
Fazoli's package is reasonable enough. We spent around 30k for a hundred guests (80 adults and 20 kids). That includes the clowns, mascot, and other party amenities. Actually, they have cheaper packages pa. Medyo napamahal lang ng konti party ng daughter ko coz I didn't get the food in their package. What I did kasi is to mix and match the food from their regular menu that's why it cost me more. Pero i think what i paid for is much cheaper pa rin compared to other restaurants in that area. :)

But I know the food in Don Henrico's really good and that in Fazoli's. Now, its even harder to decide which is which, hope i'll make the right choice though.

i think at that age, a small party at home might be better? For a toddler, the average span of attention is roughly two hours, with games na yon and food and stuff...then better if mga 10 kids or less ang invite mo coz its more manageable....it will probably come out cheaper as well since you will be preparomg the food yourself.

if you can find a nice park, dun na lang kayo. bring the food (which you oredered or cooked) and set the place up. kayo na bahala sa games and be creative na lang sa goodie bags..

chinese resto? what's ur budget?
my son celebrated his 1st bday at Emerald Garden. It can accomodate around 17 tables (i think) and may small space infront for games. Medyo crowded lang if you have lots of children visitors.... Food ok and quite affordable.
You can also try Century Resto (medyo mahal lang.. cheapest i think would cost you 8t per table) and Fishing Village (so-so lang food pero they have bigger space)
as for games, balloons and character host - we tried Party Perks. Ok naman.
Hope this helps...

hi, aimsim! my daughters celebrated their bdays at KIDS@WORK, Megamall. The venue is really great for kids, they enjoyed it. It's like a play gym and most kids enjoyed it a lot. The food package they have is very inexpensive. Usually mas maraming adult guests, so what i did was brought in some cooked foods for the adult guests. Rice and desserts don't have corkage fee. Kaya lang, closed na ang K@W Megamall. Glorietta and SM north Edsa na lang ang open. U may call them to inquire. They have a good party host too. Kaya enjoy pati adult... Goodluck!

hi, jotjot.i was wondering when did *** Megamall closed down ? coz we just celebrated my daughter's 1st bday last 15Feb.
Shengyap i highly recommend *** mega the kids enjoyed the party as well as the adults. They can even use the playground before and after the party. The character host cum magician is very good. However, i suggest you get the cake from other suppliers mine we got from Kink Cakes where they have real nice characters and designs.
Another good place is the Nestle Ice Cream Parlor in Aurora Blvd. The venue is their garden area upfront best for big number of guests.the party is done late afternoon so as to avoid the heat. they have canopes, a giant inflatable.Food is good as well.
Goodluck and advance happy bday to your baby!

I'm having a puppet show for my baby's 1st birthday. It's gonna be held at Shakeys in QC and they told me that it's okay to hire someone for the puppet show. I got an events planners for kids called Jellybellies. They gave me a list of 30 plus puppet stories and I get to choose 3, each runs for 5-7 minutes (kids' attention spans are pretty short). I got Barney and Baby Bop, Blue's Clues and Looney Tunes. 2 of those are musicals coz my son loves music. Paid P3,500.

2. Same thing pa rin water balloon kaya lang ibang naman ang games kung sampu ang mga bata then divide mo sila sa tig-limang groups.. tapos they will catch the balloons kung ma-drop ng catchers ang balloon she /he is out kung sino ang matira iyun ang panolo then he/she will win the price..
3. Of course sa ating mga pilipino/pilipina musical chair hindi nawawal tuwing may B-day party..
Then about foods bumili ka na lang ng Pizza delivery at Kentucky fried chicken kung talagang .. tina-tamad magluto..

If most of your guests are grownups, restaurants are the best way to go since they prefer to talk with each other.
If you want a real children's party, as in children are meant to have fun talaga, try The Little Gym in St. Francis Square. They charge P12,000 for 20 kids, no charge for adults (don't know if they've increased) for an hour and a half of pure activities for kids. The package includes the venue for activities, a multi-purpose area, and two party facilitators (who are teachers). Included as well are balloons, invitations, and a special give away for the birthday celebrant. You can bring in any food you want, either your own or catered. Kids are happy with simple chicken and spaghetti. Parents don't usually mind, especially after watching their kids have fun.
Children below 3 need an adult to accompany them inside the gym are as you can expect a lot of running around in there.
I'm not sure what the phone number in Ortigas is but you can try calling the Alabang branch and ask them nalang.

PLEASE LANG WAG NA WAG SA FRIDAY'S......... PLEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEE.....
I HAD MY SON'S BDAY PARTY LAST DECEMBER AT FRIDAY'S GLORIETTA.. WE PAID AROUND 30K JUST FOR THE FOOD BUT IT WAS SOOOOO NOOOOOOTTTT WORTH IT!
They told me it was buffet daw, so i expected it to be eat all u can, di ba? but no, nung party na, nung nauubos na *** food, nagulat ako kc hindi sila nagrerefill, tapos biglang sinabi sakin nung coordinator na "IT WAS JUST BUFFET STYLE, pero HINDI EAT ALL U CAN!"
grrrrrrrrr...... sana she should have told me a month before the party... grabe! ang konti ng food tapos hindi nasarapan *** guests ko... hay naku! it's sooo hard to elaborate pa kc nanggigil na **** ako eh... u can guys check out the thread in girltalk at www.femalenetwork.com/girltalk there's a thread there regarding bday parties & i had the full story regarding this issue about fridays..

hi sis!
i haven't attended any kiddie parties sa hard rock, however, i had my son's baptismal reception there march last year.
they didn't offer packages that time, bka ngayon meron na. they charged us 370+/pax for buffet lunch. lunchtime lang kc sila may buffet eh. we spent more or less 40k but it was all ssooooo worth it kc super dami ng foods. as in! ->salads, japanese, filipino, italian, mongolian, chinese, lotsa deserts, tapos may section pa for dimsum & noodles.. bsta ang dami ****. sobrang sarap pa ng foods. all our guests were very satisfied.. that's why when we held our son's bday sa fridays, they cant help but compare the 2 parties ****. lahat sila puro pintas sa fridays, kaya nalungkot ako. that's why sabi ng hubby ko, sana daw pala naghard rock nlang ulit, kc we spent almost the same amount tapos hindi satisfied *** guests nmin.
try to inquire if they have kiddie packages na, if ***, madali **** sila kausap, probably u can workout on a certain plan. i think they charge the kids around 250/pax. btw, that includes refillable iced tea na. and they provide balloons & coloring books (or whatever fun stuff available) for the kids.
i just love hard rock.
and also, ***** depende din sa dami ng guests *** dami ng foods. ***** they served a wide variety of foods during my son's baptismal kc we had almost 100 guests. pero one time, we had lunch there w/ my hubby on a regular day, the food wasn't that many. pero yummy pa rin.

Hellooo! my Son celebrated his 1st Birthday at Shakey's in Makati. It's really inexpensive for 60 ppl we only paid around P14,000. The food was filling, i especially liked the giant pizza they served but its actually optional. it cost me P2,600 for that pizza alone pero super laki nya they were 3 waiters who had to carry that pizza for us kaka aliw parang bday cake wid d candle on top ur guest will surely like it. With the food package naman, Spaghetti, Chicken, Mojos & Ice Cream.. busog **** yun guest! The program was nice they had their own host and sumayaw din yun mascot nila which is Henny d Chicken. hehe.. the location was nice they reserved the whole room at the 2nd floor and it can accomodate 150 ppl dun sa room. hope i helped, Goodluck on your Party! :kyle: :kyle: :kyle:

I think dey have same pricing for all branches but d food packages dat dey give for bday parties are different from the combo meals that they serve.. actually i scouted from mcdo, jolibee & oder foodchains super lapit lang ng price range ng packages nila.. all ur gonna think about is which ambiance is better looking or the location where its gonna be. I think pinili ko na package is P70 - P90 per person forgot exactly how much.. u can actually mix n match d packages payag naman sila as long as its more than 30 persons. Mura lang **** sa kanila kaya if i were to choose whether mcdo, jolibee and etc... for a not so extravagant budget.. i chose shakeys.. :stan:

My son celebrated his 1st bday at McDonalds Ortigas last February and no regrets talaga. At first I was planning of having the party either Shakey's or Pizza Hut kasi I was thinking para maiba naman but someone told me to prioritize the kids 'coz the party is for them. Kasi they are not familiar with the other restos. Think economics but at the same time it should be special. McDonalds is really a kids world and choose a location which has a playplace. My sons party was really fun that even my adult guests enjoyed themselves as the party hosts are efficient and very articulate. Kasi I don't want any naughty jokes or parang dating comedy bars yung jokes. hehe... The menu was chix & spag, burger mcdo, sundae, fries per pax. This is just based on my opinion.

That's true! It's their day! It's their party! Let them enjoy it! It's a children's party. In my opinion, I think almost all the children are all familiar to jolibee or mcdo's so why would i celebrate their b-days at some fancy resto? After all the parents or some guest that are accompanying these lil' angels knows that it's a children's party? These lil' darlings don't care about the foods, they only want to have fun!
I know, because my daughter's 1st b-day was a disaster. I spend around 40k in some fancy venue and i see that most of the kids that are present didn't enjoy the party, so on her 2nd year we held it in jolibee, 3rd year at Mcdo, all was a success, and it's not heavy on the budget!
Now we are seriously thinking about Shakey's at her 4th b-day! We are thrilled, esp. our daughter, thinking about this giant pizza as a "birthday cake".
Thanks RuFfenDz for a wonderful idea.

Had my baby's first birthday party at Shakey's tomas Morato. I was really satisfied with it because the package was: the more you order, the lesser the amount per head. So we booked for 100 pax and it was cheaper per person than let's say if we booked for 50 pax. The place was spacious (although sa dami ng tao, medyo napuno din), and had its own Little Tykes playground so kids can play. What was so nice about Shakey's was that they allowed me to get a children's party planner called Jelly Bellies to perform 3 different kinds of puppet shows there. The kids LOVED it!! The puppet shows were Barney and Baby Bop, Looney tunes and blue's clues. The first two were musicals coz my baby loves music. They gave us this space at shakey's for the puppeteers to set-up their stuff. Then they also allowed us to bring our own piñata, I brought it from the States coz my baby loves this Australian kids' band called the Wiggles and it's not available in the Philippines. Then the package at Shakeys included a slice of hawaiian pizza, spaghetti, garlic bread, one pc chicken which was quite huge, mojo potatoes, and ice cream in a cup. For merienda that was already a lot so the guests were stuffed. Even for lunch I think that was already pretty much filling. i also hired 2 clowns to do balloon twisting and magic tricks, and the package also included loot bags for the kids with goodies inside. I bought additional loot from divisoria and the US' 99 cents stores. I downloaded some color-in pages at The Wiggles website (the theme), parang loose pages na coloring book, I tied it with colorful ribbons and placed a crayon box in each loot bag. would you believe for 110 people we only shelled out P17,000? that's exluding the cake and puppet show. Super sulit. It was already a fun-filled party with all the trimmings and good food.

True, babies can't really appreciate our efforts to give them "the best bday" ever.
But celebrating 1st birthdays with a bang is something we parents really look forward to! It's our way of shouting to the world how blessed we are with this bundle of joy! It is a celebration of thanks...for the happiness our child has brought us, for the miracle that they are...
Anyway, my suggestion is to narrow it down to a theme. From there you can decide what games, giveaways, cake, decor, etc. to choose. There are a lot of party planners out there who can help you if you've got the budget. If you want to cut down on costs, there is always Divisoria for party stuff and the ever helpful Google for ideas.
Top of mind party planners: JellieBellies, Kiddie-Party, and Party Perks...

Place question pa rin pero not necessarily on place to celebrate :) - saang part ng divisoria yung mga bilihan ng party supplies? kahit reference lang po to the street.
Adie's celebrating her 2nd birthday on August. Dahil sa dami ng guests, we decided to hold the celebration at home magpapacater na lang. We're having a barney theme since dun sya baliw na baliw ngayon - umaga hanggang gabi, "barney!!!" ang sigaw nya, hahaha.
Question pa: magkano na usually ang mga balloons dyan sa atin. I want violet, yellow and green balloons and want to fill the place! :) Dito sa Singapore may nabibiling balloons, mga P50/10 pcs kung ico-convert. Pero ikaw ang mag-a-air. I was wondering if I should buy here or dyan na lang? Help please!!!

Hi annielise! Thank for sharing this with us. I am actually helping my SIL organize the bday party of her son. Upon seeing your post, I immediately inquired from shakeys morato and they are too accommodating naman. We also plan to have a puppet show like what you did. Ask ko lang…I was advised that shakeys morato has 2 dining areas…the main one and the one at the back (with the playground). Which area did you hold your party? Which is better ba…in terms of ambiance, space, etc?

^^ Hi, we got the function room at the back, the one with the Little Tikes playground. Of course the kids will like the one with the playground better, plus it accommodated 110 guests, so it was quite spacious, and it also accommodated the puppet show which was such a blast with the kids, it was the highlight of the whole party. The one in front is not as nice, it's not as spacious and of course there's no Little Tikes playground.

If your looking for mura and the pieces you can assemble. Go to Divisoria there's a street there called tabora, dikit-dikit ang mga souvenir stands duon puede mo pang tawaran. It's just walking distance from TUtuban. That's where we bought ours from weddings to the christening of our kid.

Hi megan cutie!
I did a party before for a one year old & the theme was M&M. Her souvenir was M&M back packs w/M&M goodies inside & some generic stuff na rin & M&M belt bags for the bigger kids.

i inquired at little gym, pede rin *** mag held ng birthday parties. educational na and fun activities pa for both parent and child.
another one, i saw at westin philippine plaza, meron clang westin kids club dun! pede ka magcelebrate ng birthday party w/ them. kasama na yung food and activities at less than 20K.

Hi guys! I hope you can help me here. My son is going to be baptized in Manila Cathedral first week of October and im looking a venue na di naman sobra expensive, weve on a tight budget din eh. Actually, im looking for a venue to hold the reception for baptism and birthday party, pagsasabayin ko na kasi.
i have read the threads regarding venue here in pex, kaya lang mostly in ortigas, makati and qc area lang, any suggestions naman around intramuros or manila area? and papost na rin po sana ng mga rates nila if ever you know.
Im running out of time, just a month and a half na lang... i hope you can help me.

hi babydog, for my baby's baptism we had souvenirs. i made them myself! :) anyway, all i used were little baby ceramic figurines, some corrugated artboard, 'styroballs' and shotglasses. they were a big hit at the baptism and our guests found it hard to believe we didnt buy them.
We live outside Manila so I can't recommend for cakes. But here's a tip. I used connections to find a cake decorator from our favorite premiere cake shop, and it turns out she bakes and decorates as a sideline, too. Our baptism cake was really good, just as if we had ordered from the shop, and we only paid a fraction of what it was worth.
now, if i can only figure out how to load the pictures here.... help anyone?

Would anyone know a venue for a sports theme party for my son's 7th bday? Aside from Adidas Sports Kamp at the Fort, which is really nice but quite expensive. Should be indoor as it can rain or get hot in the afternoon. Venue should be kid-friendly. My son is very much into sports and doesn't like the usual kiddie party theme. Ideal would be a gym or arena. Also looking for a kid-friendly, English-speaking coach who can drum up futsal or basketball-inspired games and activities for 7-year old boys and a few girls. He should also be able to sustain interest for the entire 3 hours. Know any party planners who can help? Thanks :)

I read somewhere that you can do it in a small cafe ... para cozy ambience .. .reserve niyo siya for an entire afternnon ... or sa spa ... yung mga nail spa para pampered kayo .. .tapos have pastries and scones and biscuits for merienda ... something that will fill you guys but more on the party and bonding ...
Then prepare a personal token for each person who will be at your shower.
