Alternative Jobs for Seamen

Do you have any idea what can be a "basket" job for a seaman if he leaves his profession at sea?

I would imagine a shore-based job in the shipping industry could be a good alternative.

Come to think of it, except maybe for the captain and the senior officers, isn't the only difference between seamen and regular workers the fact that seamen work on a ship?

I mean, we are talking about mechanics, welders, skilled laborers, cooks, etc, aren't we? All of those skills are valuable on land, too.

Anyone here familiar with offshore jobs? meron kasi ako site na pinuntahan " Caledonian Offshore Ltd." nag fill up ako dun. They are recruiting jobs about sa offshore, Oil drilling yata yun, sabi dun sa pinadala sa akin na application form & mga brochures marami silang hawak na offshore company, they will look for me an offshore jobs even if i'm not experienced. they promise na ang salary daw ranging from US $200 or even up to $ 400 dollars per day.They said that if i'm going to pay the retainer fee of $189 US dollar then sent back the agreement form and application form na pinadala nila sa akin, by the time na natanggap na nila yun ay mag istart na ang pag hahanap nila sa akin ng job, hintayin na lang daw na may dumating na job offer sa akin. I'am thinking kung totoo ba ito kasi for the past 3 years may 10 times na sila nagpapadala lagi sa akin ng application and agreement form convincing me to try an offshore jobs, pinag iisipan ko maigi kung dapat ko ba ituloy ito at magbayad ng retainer fee.
