Hello, anyone who knows where I could get a job as a writer - sana freelance? I'm an advertising graduate who loves writing. No works published yet, at least not in English. Please, please, pretty please (don't make me beg) I need thoughts and information on how I could jumpstart my career in this direction. Thanks!

Hi, emtan, are you still keen on pursuing your 'banking' plans?
:)

Hallo sux2bu, I sent my application to a couple of banks. Pero wala pang balita... I'm also interested in pursuing a career in writing. Pero a bit hesitant since wala pa akong "formal" experience. Also clueless on where to start, but I want to keep my options open, kaya nagtatanong din ako about writing positions. :D May alam ka ba?

laging kailangan ng weekly publications ng freelance writers. what do you like writing about the most?
try this: write a piece for your favorite weekly. if it's good, they'll print it. if -you're- good, they'll make you a regular contributor. you can make good money by contributing regularly to various magazines, online and offline.
the fiction market is a bit harder to get into, but the technique i described above might work, too.
you can also blog and make money off google ads.

Hi emtan,
I suggest you email magazines with some writing samples. Even if they aren't published, send them in. That's what you're banking on, anyway, that they like your writing style.

thanks you guys, for the feedback, keep it coming... :)
i'm not so much into fiction, more on thoughts, opinions, reviews, so more on articles, that kind of stuff. meron ba kayong contact/email of magazines that are getting contributions? (aside from summit, i checked out their website and saw that they accept contributions, with contacts and everything, so that's one down :D) kahit pm nyo nalang po. super dooper thanks! really appreciate it.

Hey, I'm a frustrated Sports Writer myself. I've done the rounds trying to promote my writing skills for so long, but no one was biting. Well, I managed to land a job last year doing porn ads and it was a great experience. The porn was free and I get to write whatever ******** my dirty thoughts can put to work. Sadly, I was let go of that position because of technical issues, but I was able to get another porn writing gig. :D
If anyone is interested, I think the company I'm working for is looking for another writer. You can send me samples of your writing. Better make it a porn website review and I'll try to see if I can help those frustrated writers out there get a friggin cool job.
E-mail me at meralco@gmail.com
NOTE: This is not an sure thing, ha? It's just that the HR department was asking me a coupla days ago if I know another writer.

im in and out of the industry myself.. ive had my few by lines and one thing ive learned is just never lose your patience on sending your stories to publications... they always like freelance writers but you just have to prove to them how good you are so they'd keep you on their list.. better yet be a contributor correspondent
there's a lot of newspapers (. my first published article was in younglbood and it became my springboard to other bylines....
) and magazines (summit magazines) and online publications to choose from... though i still prefer seeing my story in print.. :) .
even philippine editorials abroad welcome stories from the phils and all transactions are done online.. and they will just send you a check and voila you're not just a local writer anymore.. :)
so keep the pen moving! good luck!

hello, thanks so much for the feedback.
do you guys know how i can send my article to youngblood, ano address nila? may email ba sila? is it better to send articles through email or snail mail? and lastly, how long does it take for you to have your articles published? did they inform you that your work is published or did you have to check?
thanks, and keep it coming :)

as for me i did it all snail mail, email and even through fax... i sent the article last week of january then they published it mid february. they called me i think days before the day it will be publiished..then they also informed me that i have a check to claim :)
just keep on sending your stories, you'll never know who might just like what you wrote :).. and keep a copy of your essays or stories (print and softcopy).. portfolio na rin yan ..
dont get frustrated.. just keep writing..
goodluck!
