My baby who is 4 months old used to have dry skin. His Pedia told me to use Aveeno Baby products and its great! He now has the softest skin. It's also made by Johnson and Johnsons.

my 9 month old baby girl uses huggies supreme diapers,
pampers wipes, cetaphil soap, aveeno shampoo,
cetaphil lotion (great for really dry skin), johnson's
baby powder pure conrstach with aloe and famosine calber
for her baby cologne.

for her car seat, stroller, high chair, swing -
she uses all GRACO products.

we also used to feed her Gerber food when she turned
2 1/2 mos. but when we introduced real food, she disliked
anything that's from gerber.

my children were OshKosh babies before.....tanda ko pa ang pinang-binyag nila OshKosh na damit para di isang gamitan lang para magamit din sa ibang okasyon....

the rest ang gamit nila nong baby pa sila is almost the same as what you are using now....

with all the bb products in the market, sometimes it's really hard to choose the right one. there are products that you wouldn't know if it's good or not until you use it. i'm starting a new thread here so that you won't make the same mistake as i did:

in my experience, i have made mistakes with purchasing some of the bb products. they are as follows:
1. safety 1st nail cutter with magnifying glass - using the magnifying glass is distracting, it is really a very useless feature, you see better without one. besides, that one is very expensive.
2. enfant bottle brush with sponge at the tip - ang bilis kumalawang, mabilis din matanggal ang sponge.
3. pitcheco socks (don't know if the spelling is correct) - it gets smaller and smaller after each washing.

Those i recommend are:
1. sm diaper (can't remember gauze or birdseye, but i guess they use the same fabric) - unlike other local brands, hindi siya nadedeform after wash, double layer pa siya.

bulb type breastpumps, any brand = ouch for little milk

avent isis breastpump = much much more comfortable and efficient

those metal diaper pins = sira na naman?

Good baby products:

1) nail scissors ... really good kasi they don't hurt the baby and it just cuts it ... kahit gising si baby e pwede

2) huggies ... talagang no rash

3) DESITIN ... in case may rash ... sobrang ganda gamitin nito kasi tanggal agad

Bad baby products IMO:
1) baby nail cutters ... they will cut the skin as well

2) the 2 sided triangular pillow ... the one supposed to protect baby from SIDS ... mas maganda pa bumili ka ng donut pillow ... ala wenta tong SIDS pillow :ayaw:

1. safety 1st nail cutter with magnifying glass - using the magnifying glass is distracting, it is really a very useless feature, you see better without one. besides, that one is very expensive.this is soooo true. I thought din that the magnifying glass would help, in fact it made it so hard to use.

I bought a cheaper plain nailcutter na lang, sobra pang daling gamitin.

yesterday, i found out that the nail cutter (w/ magnifying glass) was already pudpod. i used it for only arnd 3 mos..

i would like to add the ff. good products:
baby world rubber mat - it is the cheapest i can find (available at all sm), yet mabilis siyang matuyo so okay siya.

soft rubber would be nice. it was bought in HK and i haven't seen one here. they're nice coz they're soft and pliable enough so it won't irritate baby's teething gums. when she grew her chompers i switched to the regular plastic ones, coz she started biting it before i could take it out of her mouth.

you seen those plastic "seats" for bathing baby? got one and the nanny never used it. she used the teddy bear sponge instead. masakit daw sa bata yung plastic na yon.

another thing i really liked, those velcro diapers from Chicco. byebye unreliable pins! but i'm not patient enough to launder those all the time. so she's always using disposables.

i just tried pampers coz the promodizer girl was working extra hard that day i gave her a break and bought a pack. baby's bum is always moist. i'm not happy with that product. no rashes whatsoever but still if your bum feels wet all the time, you wouldn't be comfy. much less your baby.

hi everyone!

I'm giving birth this coming February so magsisimula nakong mamili ng mga gamit ni baby. However, medyo nahihirapan ako sa pagpili ng mga bibilhin. Ano ba yung mga essentials for a baby and usually how many of each item would I need to last my baby for at least the first 2-3 months? Ayoko kasing bumili ng mga hindi naman kakailangan talaga yet i don't wanna shortchange my baby of anything he might need. Friends and relatives tell me not to buy too much kasi kalalakihan rin agad ni baby yet they keep recommending things that i should buy kasi raw first apo. So now I'm confused.

Also, where is a good place to shop for quality baby gears, bottles, apparel and all other stuffs? A friend said to go to Divisoria but its too far from where I live and takot ako na baka mura nga yet madali namang masira o maluma. Please help! Thanks so much.

Dec 26, 2005, 12:55 AM
i have another question...What can you say about sa PROKIDS diapers? kasi nung new born pa lang ang anak ko, yun yung binigay samin na diaper sa hospital...gusto ko yung outer covering nya kasi cloth-like talaga at maganda din ang quality nya para sakin..pero gusto ko pa din malaman ang mga opinion nyo tungkol sa PROKIDS diapers kasi nagdadalawang isip ako kung babalik na ko sa PROKIDS...My son's currently using pampers kasi at parang nd pa din ako masyadong satisfied although nd naman nagkaka diaper rash ang anak ko...No offense pero siguro nd ko lang masyadong feel ang pampers..

P.S. I can recommend the pampers all-nights...maganda talaga..I don't know lang sa iba pero hiyang ang baby ko dito...

Natry namin *** bago, Pampers all night and ok naman sya. I think this is cheaper than the red Pampers. Maganda rin ang Prokids pero it's pricier than Pampers. :)

Yup Pampers worked for us too. froom baby till they learned to hold their pee at night. just be sure to air out baby's bottom at least once a day. meaning diaper free for an hour or so. cover with cloth diaper so hindi kakalat ang pee. tutal more or less you'll only clean up once or twice a day esp. when your baby starts walking.

if he's just lying down place him on a rubber mat with a towel underneath.

when i gave birth in canada the nurse put a thin layer of vaseline on my baby's bottom so it won't get irritated esp. when he used to poop every hour. so when you wipe the bottom (before washing it) the layer of vaseline will protect his skin.

also be realistic, no diaper would last as long as 8 hours. what we do is when we feed him in the middle of the night (usually 3 - 4 hours after the last night feeding (say, 10 pm) we check his diaper which is always wet then we change it.

and syempre the more your baby feeds the more his wee-wee will be.

That's actually a very good tip which I only learned about after my baby had stopped passing meconium (the sticky greenish-black stool that babies have for the first few days after birth). It's very difficult to clean off but if you put a bit of lotion on the baby's butt before putting on a clean diaper, the next round of meconium would wipe off easily daw.

i've just tried pampers all night (yon for 12 hrs daw). it's not true. in fact, huggies and prokids are better than pampers and they don't make such claim.

i came across a blog site which features cloth diapers. i think they are really nice and practical. i still have to try it. you can e-mail them at tushywushy@gmail.com. blog site is tushywushy.blogspot.com. they have pictures there.

my baby is a huggies (red) user before but lately she is using pampers all night kasi mas mura. medyo may days na nagli-leak sya pero ang huggies never nag-leak. i might go back to huggies kahit mas mahal ng konti. mas matipid kasi.

my baby skin is atopic so she's very sensitive to what type of diapers she uses. we tried all the diapers in the market but the only one's she's not allergic to is huggies and prokids. but i prefer prokids as it is softer and more clothlike, unlike huggies which is more plasticy. also, prokids has an nb size (for newborns). however, prokids is a bit more expensive than huggies.

EQ Dry diapers--the best diapers i tried so far (compared to pampers, huggies, prokids). Mura pa. :D

Avent bottles-- anti-colic, durable, odorless. Mahal pero worth the price. :D

My favorite purchase is The First Years medicine syringe. I used to have a big medicine dropper, but it can only hold upto 3ml, so if the medicine calls for 5ml, I have to refill pa, while my baby tries to escape because he hates taking medicine. And then, it's hard to be sure about your dose because there's always some medicine left in the dropper, my baby doesn't get the exact dose. The First Years syringe can hold up to 5 ml, and pushes the entire dose out in one quick, nearly painless squirt!

Desitin powder super ok sa baby ko, sa diapers naman, ok rin ang prokids for her, noong first two months nya, yun ang gamit nya, then we shifted to huggies, pampers and eq dry, kaya lang lately nagkakarashes na sya sa eq dry, so ngayon pampers na lagi gamit nya. pampers comfort (or pampers baby dry) pag araw, then pampers all night pag gabi. mganda ang feedback sa huggies red (yung huggies blue/white gamit namen noon) so siguro try rin namen yun :)

i don't understand y some people advice to use different diaper during daytime and night time. i tried drypers at night and eq dry during daytime, i realized there's no difference. same price lang naman. i once tried using cloth diapers but never again coz it only lasts for less than an hour for a 4 month old baby.

A little help to give us an extra boost of confidence when caring for our babies....

•deluxe baby healthcare & grooming kit•--infant comb & brush, sure-grip nail clippers, fingertip toothbrush, toddler toothbrush, hospital-style nasal aspirator, easy read medicine dropper, soft tip medicine dispenser, medicine spoon with stopper, digital thermometer.
•desitin or balmex• 40% zinc oxide the higher the better.
•stroller•
•baby sunblock•--for older babies
•infant gerber onesies•-- 100% cotton can be worn alone or layered with other garments.

this isn't really a baby product (it's for adults, too) but it was super duper effective for my baby. I used Oilatum cream for his diaper rash and the redness on his neck - it really worked wonders! Nawala pareho. I'm so glad his pedia recommended it. I tried desitin, drapolene, etc. on his diaper rash but nothing worked.

based on my 37day old baby..

Bad: EQ Dry.- naku walang kwenta, esp now rainy season dami magwiwi ng baby so ambilis mapuno tsaka nagleleak din pati poop.

Good: Prokids - i like . cloth like tsaka madami magabsorb ng wiwi.. i havent noticed na mahal to? 150 lang naman ang pack of 24pcs ah? hhmm *** yata nacheck. mas mahal syempre Huggies Red. dry talaga bum ni baby kaso mahal mashado. ok siguro pang nite time. *** i do is prokids sa daytime tapos huggies at nyt. Drypers ok din. same quality as pampers. yun nga lang pag napabayaan mapuno, parang kumakalat sa likod yung gel nya.. Good product din The First Years nail cut/scissors tapos may kasamang emery board. Safety First bath tub yung may duck na net. ok din sobra! ang dali magpaligo ng baby. ok din baby company wipes ng SM. mura pa. good baby products/clothes for me, cotton stuff, precious moments at disney/pooh. lalo na yung winnie the pooh na bib. yung sinusuot sa shoulders di nakakasakal

One of the most useless things I bought for my baby are those shirts that don't snap at the crotch like the tie sides (or snap-sides).
So inconvenient to use. It slides up the baby's body when breastfeeding or carrying the baby.

for me most most useless i bought would be baby shoes since you can just let them wear socks naman eh. i recommend foregoing shoe shopping until they learn to walk.

most useful or probably the best buy for me would be my chicco electric sterilizer cause it doesn't scratch the bottles. also, it's so easy to use pa.

jaycee, assuming you'll be using avent bottles and since you already have the isis on the go, you may want to get the isis (avent) electric for compatibility. I used the medela electric double pump and while I was happy with its performance it was a bummer that it was not compatible with the avent bottles that I received rin as gifts. I needed to get other bottles and converters. Medela has some small parts and tubing that require cleaning but this is fairly easy to do. Can the store give you a product demo for both isis and medela? If not, try calling the medela and avent customer service and ask for a demo. BTW, where is the isis electric available? Noon kasi I wanted to buy isis electric or battery but at that time I couldn't find any.

Looks like the isis (avent) has good reviews on the internet. Here's one:

I love my new bottle brush! It's the kind where the bristles are attached to a curved plastic handle. It's easier now to scrub all corners of the bottle, and even the other small parts because of the firm and more close-knit bristles. My old brush was had a circle of bristles attached to wire, and had foam at the end. The foam disintegrated after a month and it was hard to rinse.

My most useless, expensive purchase was the crib because my baby preferred to sleep in the family bed. He wouldn't even play in it. I childproofed the house and let him wander.

i highly recommend the ultimate crib sheet. it used to cost php700 before but now is at php900 but worth every peso paid. its available at babyland and sm stores. i have been using it for 4 1/2 years now for my pre schooler. we still use it for night time accidents and is great because i dont have to change the sheets except to just remove the crib sheet and still have dry bed sheets. great when you are so sleepy. i bought a new set for my upcoming baby as well.

I like it because it's not too matapang but it's still smells good.

*** is desitin? i used babyflo petrolleum jelly?:)

Desitin is a zinc oxide cream. It's advantages over petroleum jelly is that it is thicker, so it sticks to baby's butt better, giving it a better protective barrier against the poo's bacteria. Also, zinc oxide is a dessicant (wicks away moisture) so you can put it on even if baby's butt is still slightly damp.

Personally, I like its smell :)

However, be careful not to use too much. Just apply a VERY thin layer, otherwise, it will dry baby's skin and make it red. I learned this the hard way, as you can see in the Diaper Rash thread (thanks, sneezy :) )

thanks moms for your reply.

My new baby's 6 weeks old now. I've never soaped her, just warm water and face towel. And we have a long soak, about 10 minutes in the bathtub, 'coz she seems to like it. She even falls asleep while bathing.

Well, she still smells good and looks good, so I guess I might be doing something right :) Nothing milder than water, is what I say :naughty:

Hello, mommies!
Im on my 34th week now. I just want to ask what is your best recommendation when it comes to bath soap of a newborn as well as the other toiletries.
thanks moms for your reply.

during the first few weeks, i just used warm water and cotton balls to wash my baby. Then dilluted (w/ water) lactacyd baby bath followed thereafter. But prior to the routine bath, pinupunasan ko sya ng breast milk and let it stay for a minute or two dahil she had this atopic dermatitis din. Sa awa naman ng Diyos, sabi nila flawless daw baby ko.:bashful:

For maintenance, I started using Physiogel Cream on her after i stopped breastfeeding :mecry: (due to post-partum complications) when she was barely 2 months old (she's 9 months now).*okay*

Though her pedia has recommended Cetaphil, we stick with Lactacyd up to now.

Dok also instructed not to use powder. I fail to ask why :hmm: :bop:

I heard talc powder is bad for baby to breathe in. I use cornstarch powder for my baby.

That's right. It's because talc is so light, the particles tend to fly easily and get inhaled by the baby, and it could cause infection in her lungs. Cornstarch has heavier particles, so there is less chance it will get inhaled.

Sorry, haven't heard of the product. I got this Watsons Baby Bath for baby, P200 lang sya and really big. Super bango at hypoallergenic naman. Cheaper than J & J milk bath plus gentle sya sa hair ni baby, not to mention di amoy pawis hair nya maski gabi na :)

yikes... we bought that baby nail clippers w/ magnifying glass din, kasi nga my hubs doesn't trust me w/ a nail cutter :D

anyway, i think a lot of baby products are hiyangan talaga... but i'm sure i can safely say that stuffed toys, in general, are not good for babies... not only because they might suffocate babies in cribs, but also because they only attract dust (bringing allergies to your child) and if your baby gets into the habit of sucking them, throat infections naman :)

here are the A-okay baby products that i use for my baby:

Disposable diapers- huggies dry comfort (small), prokids (newborn) (i super dig the magic tape! maingay kasi ang tape ng drypers kaya minsan nagugulat si baby)
Baby bath cream, Baby shampoo, Baby oil- enfant (baby smells really fresh all day and all night long)
Baby cologne- zwitsal (baby has not used this pa, pero super bango nito.. pambaby **** ang smell)
Breast pump- pigeon electric/battery operated breast pump (very easy to use and effective pa)
Feeding bottles- the first years breastflow bottles (anti-colic, mimics mom's breast)
Nail clippers, medicine dropper, medicinal syringe, medicinal spoon, digital thermometer- safety 1st
Infant brush and comb, hospital-style nasal aspirator- the first years
Baby wipes- pigeon unscented
Baby clothes washer- enfant

i think the most important parts of those articles/news pa din are:

Henley and colleagues don't mention specific products in their report, and they're not ruling out the possibility that the boys' breast growth may have stemmed from other causes.

It's often hard to pinpoint the exact cause of gynecomastia, the researchers note.

However, "We conclude that repeated topical exposure to lavender and tea tree oils probably caused prepubertal gynecomastia in these boys," write Henley and colleagues.

"We do not anticipate any long-term effects on hormone levels" in the boys, Henley says in an NIEHS news release.

Good buys:

1. Desitin for diaper rash - prevents and treats rashes quick
2. Munchkins feeding bottle brush - durable
3. Netted na bath seat na parang recliner - soft sa head
4. Cut off shirts na overlap style - presko
5. Mamy Poko - breathable and hindi mainit unlike plastic yung cover
6. Zwitsal White Shampoo - smells good and nagtatagal ang smell even pawis pa
7. Bibs na may spill catcher but not the cloth type
8. Baby books (cloth and board books)

Don't buy:
1. Sponge bed for bath - nagkaka-molds sya
2. Short pants for home use - ang dami binili ng MIL ko pero walang nagamit ni-isa
3. Long sleeves na shirts - mainit and mahirap isuot sa baby kahit pa yung overlap style
4. Shoes - wouldn't need it. Mas ok pa socks
5. Diapers na plastic yung cover - mainit sa tushy so prone sa rashes
6. Walker - Not necessary, pwedeng monoblock chair na lang
7. Big bulky stroller with baby carriers - as in heavy and bulky
8. Bulb type na breast pump - not for daily use, pang start lang ng expressing then you can do away with it na
9. Cloth bibs

Good Buys for my daughter:
1. Diapers - Prokids (love the cloth-like cover, love the magic tapes!)
2. Lander Diaper Rash Cream
3. Lactacyd Baby Wash
4. Soft puzzle mats for playtime and naptime
5. Perla and Downy Antibac for washing clothes (pati mine na rin!)
6. Joy Antibac for washing her bottles and stuff
7. i love Pigeon. not too pricey but quality is very good. so i have everything pigeon from sterilizer, bottles, pacifiers, spoons, cups, bowl, plate, etc etc..also have some playtex and avent products which are very good din. kaya lang pricey so not too much of those.
8. Absolute distilled water - they accept orders na 5 gallons. so i order that. minsan kahit sa pet bottles ok lang.
9. i love bibs na strap on yung parang velcro type. don't like the ones na strings na kelangan i-tie. they get untied easily.
10. safety first tub and safety first netted bath recliner
11. enfant and carter's clothing. love it.
12. chicco toys and playstuff.
...

so many things i love! haha..

but i definitely wouldn't like those super fragrant stuff or powder. i don't put powder cos the tiny particles might get inhaled eh.

then again, we wash baby's tushy at the sink naman here at home... kaso nga syempre when you're out, hassle lang na you can't just keep pulling on the wipes

sayang nga eh kasi cheaper sya sa Pigeon....

sis... i think hiyangan din kasi ang feeding bottles... they say AVENT (with the nipples) prevent colic and has the least air bubbles... pero yung iba naman ok na sa Pigeon (may mga special nipples ekek din sila)

ako nga ang bottles ko are EVENFLOW kasi padala lang ng Mom ko from the US... i intend to use them when i bottlefeed my expressed breastmilk, sguro bili na lang ng mga persitaltic (?) nipples or whatever... pag hindi hiyang, tsaka ko consider using another brand :) (or antayin ko binyag, for sure, may magreregalo ng bottles, wehehe)

i also intend to get Pigeon breastpump so hindi ko na muna consider ang Avent bottles kasi nga wider sila... i'd need an adaptor pa...

hello, moms!

roa1028: sis, ive been using the playtex ventaire feeding bottles for my baby eliana ever since i started expressing my milk, *** parang nakayuko na bottle hehe. i got 7 (the newborn gift set contains 5 bottles, then got 2 more) and then got 3 more as a gift, so i have 5 6oz and 5 9oz bottles na. they're great! i never got any complaints from eliana. she would always accept the nipples. but then again depende din un sa baby mo :) each bottle has 6 components, pero wala naman un if matiyaga ka mag-assemble and magsterilize after use. bubble-free feeding **** kasi i myself could not see any bubbles forming while baby feeds from it, so effective naman **** ang non-vent nipples and bubble-free ventilating disc nya.

okay din sobra *** avent isis manual breast pump. i have the pigeon electric one na okay din, but i prefer to use the avent one kasi mas madali ang letdown and no pain talaga. i was super amazed! :)

My baby has sensitive skin...

diaper: prokids (since birth! :) ), nagkarashes siya sa pampers at huggies. tip: there was a time nagkarashes siya sa Prokids I bought from either SM or Mercury. I smelled the diapers and parang matapang pa chemical smell. So what I do na lang each time is to expose the diapers muna for about a day before letting baby use them. So far it works! Mamypokois also good kaso lang medyo pricey din. She uses the pullups when we go out kasi sobrang likot, hirap palitan, hehe. No choice kahit mahal... the other brands kasi give her rashes. Sana magka Prokids na na pullups... hehehe.

for diaper rash: desitin

soap: cetaphil for really sensitive skin, use the soap bar. (Nadry pa rin kasi skin niya dun sa liquid soap). Ganda talaga but it's kinda pricey (P300+) and mabilis din matunaw. What I do is to use cotton (when my baby was younger) or face towel instead of using the soap directly on my baby's skin. That way, the soap doesnt get soaked much. Effective naman, one bar soap lasts me for about 3 months when my baby was younger, tapos now that she's one year old, over a month din. I swear by this soap! ;)

lotion: Cetaphil lotion Mas mura sa Sta. Lucia PX good stores. P750 lang for a bigger sized bottle with pump. My MIL has suki, she is able to get it for P600 only :)

for washing her clothes: Perla. The white one!

other rashes/skin allergies: cortizan (hydrocortisone). Super effective pero use sparingly, steroids pa rin kasi.

OTHER GOOD BUYS:
1. spoon: I can't remember if "The First Years" yun or "Safety First". Basta it's a 3-piece set na may rubber tip with heat indicator. If the food is hot, the spoon is white which gradually fades to its normal color as the food gets cooler. This way you'll know if the food is still too hot for baby without touching it.

2. Chicco nasal aspirator. Bulb type siya but it's better than the unbranded ones you get free from the hospital or from mercury na madali masira. Mas matibay chicco, easier to use plus you can disassemble and clean all its parts :)

3. Pigeon baby toothbrush. It's the only small toothbrush I found with bristles which I think mas effective to clean baby's teeth coz it's small enough to cover hard-to-reach areas.

NOT-SO-HAPPY BUYS:
Dr Brown Feeding Bottles: mahassle gamitin, tapos hirap pa linisin. When I lost the scrub that came with it, I couldn't find a replacement so kabado pa ako na di masyado nacleclean yung hard-to-reach parts. I dont want to buy another set naman of Dr. Brown feeding bottles just for that thin scrub. Some moms naman swear that this brand works for them in reducing colic. I wouldnt know for sure coz I have a tough baby, and she just passes the gas out, never cried due to colic since birth, hehe :D

Pigeon Nasal Aspirator. The one where you have to suck one end. Never worked for me, ang mahal pa.

Pigeon Electric Pump. Sakit na tapos one drop lang! haha. I used Avent Manual Pump and Medela electric pump. Much much better. Sayang nga purchased na the Medela when I found out about the Avent double ISIS pump. Havent tried the ISIS tho pero both the Avent manual pump and Medela were effective :) The other bulb type pumps (whether glass or plastic) are useless!

My son switched to Huggies Lavander/Chamomile from J&J's top to toe. He's doing well with Huggies, isn't drying his skin like the J&J.

Our best buy is his chicco car seat. He's outgrown all his other equipment but he's still using his car seat and is very comfortable in it, even during the car trip to Baguio when he just turned 2 y/o (he stayed in it the whole time!).

Sorry sneezy, I'm bad with details. I forgot the model of his chicco car seat but it's the type that we got when he was 7 months old and could hold up to 40 lbs. We're buying him a booster seat anytime now because, like your son, he's outgrowing the seat by height. We're looking at either Graco or chicco (again) for his booster seat since they seem sturdy and safe.

O nga pala, another great baby product is the Graco play yard because we were able to bring it around and was easy to clean. Although we didn't use it very long, probably around 6 months lang, it was great for those short weekend trips and day trips to my mom's house where there were no cribs.

Anyone who wants to buy a CHICCO STEAM STERILISER? I surmise it's about 2700+ pesos in SM. It was a gift given by a family friend. However, we already have one. So if anyone is interested you may contact me at 09266172724. Its new (I haven't opened the plastic yet.) and complete. I am only selling it for 2000 pesos. We can meet anywhere in Cubao. Thank you. By the way, it's electric and it only takes three minutes to sterilize the bottles.

I think ok *** maglotion ang baby kahit 2 months basta choose a lotion na mild lang ang ingredients ako I use nivea baby products, effective naman no tear formula and non-toxic din ang top to toe wash ng nivea kc sometimes kapag pinapaliguan ko ang baby ko since 7 months na sobrang likot sinusubo ang kamay niya na may sabon.

I don't think you should put off lotion on your baby muna, try the "shoo fly don't bother me" of indigo baby --->http://indigomanila.multiply.com/photos/album/5/All-Natural_Bath_Body#12
it has all-natural ingredients and it also comes in a smaller bottle you can purchase the small one muna so you can try it on your baby.
I also bought their baby pouch, so helpful.

Hi janna558, I believe it's ok to use lotion on baby kahit two months pa lang. Meron nga akong friend one month pa lang gumamit na sya ng lotion sa baby nya. In our family j&j baby lotion ang gamit kasi water-based sya and suitable for baby's sensitive skin.

As for off lotion, wag muna siguro. May nabibili naman na long-sleeves and pajamas na light lang ang material para di mainitan si baby.

Jul 22, 2008, 01:24 AM
^i think for the most part, rashes occur when hindi agad napapalitan ang diaper and the pee sort of ferments.
I've used both cloth and disposables for my son and the only time he's really ever had a rash was when he got diarrhea and was pooping 10-12x/day.
We just make sure to change ASAP everytime it's soiled with poop and every 2-3 hours when it's just pee. Whether puno ang diaper with pee or not, we change the diapers.
I used pocket diapers so ang absorbency nya is pretty much like disposables and it wicked away the moisture from my baby's bum so it was always dry.

Puede sis, kaya lang in cloth diaper you have to closely monitor kasi dapat isang ihi lang ni baby change na agad. unlike pag disposable mas absorbent sya. pero feeling ko mas healthy ang cloth diaper, close to natural... yon nga lang dapat masipag maglaba ang yaya mo :-)

there are cloth diapers that hold up like disposables do. Our overnight cloth diaper is a pocket diaper with a hemp insert. These types of cloth diapers also keep the baby dry by wicking the moisture away from their butts.

Jul 22, 2008, 09:46 AM
I agree with sneezy na rashes don't depend on the type of diapers but on how frequent you change the soiled one. To prevent rashes it's best to change diapers as frequent as possible. Wag mo nang wait na super basa na ang diaper ni baby before you change her. Wash her bottom and apply baby powder para di ma-irritate ang skin ni baby. *okay*

Jul 24, 2008, 05:35 AM
i only used tushy wushy when my baby was a newborn and no complaints naman. Although of course the insert is not as absorbent as the fuzzi bunz/bumgenius because cotton lang ang material (don't know if they've changed it since) with FB and bG and I guess all the other pocket diapers made here, the inserts that come with it are usually microfiber.
The one thing I don't like about the bumGenius is that the velcro snags talaga. Happy Heiny's naman, I've heard really good things about them. Maybe I'll get some for our next baby. Oh and I also used Mommy's Touch pala but back then the garter dug into my baby's legs. I think they've changed it since.
Also, if you're looking for overnight diapers, get extra hemp inserts because they are really absorbent.

we use lactacyd for baby's wash kasi that's what her pedia prescribed (or oilatum or cetaphil), but i'm planning to get either burt's bees or california baby, or some organic and natural baby wash from indigobaby - am still deciding. =)

i don't use milk trays to freeze breastmilk, but i use milk bags. you can get them at SM. i rarely freeze, so i just keep them in the lower compartment sa ref, and when i do that i just store breastmilk in evenflo glass bottles. ewan ko hah, i fell in love with glass bottles at first sight

we use jollibaby (very very cheap:)) and eq dry for day wear (changing it every 2-3 hours) and huggies at night for longer wearing. so far, no rashes :)

i use VCO liquid powder kasi i was afraid of the whole irritating-your-lungs thing, pero it's not that heavy duty against pawis and all. i'm getting california baby non - talc powder. my baby sweats a lot. heeheehee.

tas we have baby wipes, but i end up using them to wipe tables (or my feet) hehe. we just use cotton balls and have two spray bottles, one with water and one with water+lactacyd. super easy to use. plus she loves to have her bottom sprayed with water :).

alcohol is biogenic spray. hehehe.

I think the brand also matters sis... somehow, different babies react to different brands in the same way...

my niece who could use Happy (its a cheapy brand here) got rashes and UTi naman when she used yung Teddy Bear or Skips na brand

my son naman could use EQ Dry and Drypers no prob, and Huggies (different makes), but would get red sa Mamy Poko

and then there are those babies naman who would get rashes pag hindi Mamy Poko (and yet, the tendency and supposed plus side of using Mamy Poko is that its super duper absorbent, kaya sulit na din daw yung price) :)

so parang sanitary napkins din or feminine wash for women... hiyangan ba :)

yeah, I get that. That's why i said "for the most part". I just think that sometimes in the midst of blaming the brand of diaper, na-o-overlook yung fact that the baby doesn't get changed often enough. I think yung iba hinihintay na mapuno talaga ang diaper maski ilang oras na ang nakalipas when that should not be the case.
But yes, I am aware that some babies have really strong sensitivities to chemicals. Precisely the reason why we use cloth. ;)

len_retoriano,

For me, there's nothing wrong if your baby is moreno/morena. Please don't try whitening products on your baby's skin. Baka pagsisishan mo.
I have a cousin who tried to use exfoliants and whitening products on her young daughter. For me, if your baby does not have fair skin, bahala na siyang magpaputi when she reaches the right age. Let him/her be the one to decide if gusto niyang pumuti pag tanda niya.

of course i will not use exfoliants to my baby's skin.. i am just asking if lactacyd is good for babies... yes, there is nothing wrong with being morena. pero syempre naman, it's every mommy's desire to have flawless skin for their babies..that is why i am asking advice from mommies here..

but flawless does not equate to being maputi.
Maraming kayumanggi ang healthy ang skin. Even moreso than yung mga mapuputi.
I just feel that you might be sending the wrong message to your child when you are actively trying to change their skin color which is influenced by race and genetics.

ahaha, yeah. i got a bit pissed off kasi my MIL wanted (was strongly suggesting) na i squeeze calamansi juice into baby's bath water para pumuti. or i use oilatum kasi nakakaputi daw. wtf?!?!

My baby's mosquito bites leave dark marks on her skin. :( Please suggest good repellants or ointments that really work for mosquito bites?

Also do you think Downy Antibac is any good? I heard they're having the Iwas Lamok thingie, I saw it in the TVC. I want to try it. It irks me that mosquitoes land on our clothes, and my baby's clothes. I think it's something to do with freshness and disinfecting, mosquitoes are not attracted to these haha. :)

^If you'll be breastfeeding and staying at home with the baby, chances are, you probably won't even need bottles.

^ Hi, we tried Downy antibac iwas mosquitoes at home. It smells soo good and it's true that i will last a long long time. :) Though syempre di ko naman inoobserve kung may lamok na dumapo, though hindi mukang lamog yung clothes after kunin sa sampayan. Ok rin for the kids, di agad sila mag-aamoy pawis na usually kumakapit sa clothes.
