agapito, i wasn't at home when the pldt sevice man came so di ko nakita personally but that's what they told me when i got home. question po on the led lights, the topmost is the one that indicates if may signal, di ba? if it's green then u can go ahead and connect. if it's orange, walang network from pldt? or walang signal pc ko na makuha from pldt? sorry but that's what's confusing me.

Depends on what modem you are using. Normally, you should get 3 green lights on. (1) power light (2) DSL light (3) ETH (ethernet) and this should be blinking from time to time indicating data transfer. The modem that PLDT gave me is a Nokia.

what's the best ethernet card to use for pldt my dsl?? how much?? will they provide it or ako bibili??? thanks...

yes, i would also recommend d-link. mas mahal lang sya ng 100-150 pesos sa ibang brand but you can be sure of its quality. i just bought one yesterday. my problem is...

still no reply from PLDT! ive called 2 times to followup my application but still no call. i applied last sunday and submitted my requirements the day after. normal lang ba yun? bat ang tagal? :grrr:

Our modem is Dr Speedtouch. How great is the effect of the modem on the dsl connection? Is it possible to ask pldt to change our modem to Nokia as well? Would that "help" our connection?

weye, it won't be that easy to request from PLDT that they give you a nokia modem. the pldt guy who replaced my modem (a blue ZTE made in China to a black Speedstream) said depende kung anong supply ang dumarating sa kanila. Minsan, Nokia, minsan ZTE, minsan ibang brand. It depends kung anong merong stock sila na available.

This is the sad part when a commodity is controlled by a few suppliers, all you can do is just grin and bear it.

I'm using PLDT MyDSL but I rarely get disconnected and my connection speed is greater than 300 kbps most of the time. Other people have frequent disconnection problems and speed issues to no end.

The same complaints I heard from Globe too.

Perhaps what this is telling us is that broadband services still appear to be a hit-or-miss service. You may get a 50-50 chance to either you get a jackpot connection, or a connection from hell.

Maybe it's time to rethink your business based on these assumptions before your money bleeds to death. Meaning, you might want to consider doing another kind of business instead of a computer rental shop.

I am loosing a lot of money coz of their crappy DSL service.

Super-crappy DSL connection. Hit and miss sila...since nag-open yung shop ko which was almost 3 months ago, araw-araw na lang may disconnection and minsan 1 whole f*cking week! I am loosing a lot of money and customers coz of their crappy services.

275 bucks lang compare to thousands na nawala sakin and WORST!!! I can't get out of their friggin' 2 years contract!!!!

Urgh!

in addition, if their server is down, they dont even inform their clients.
nag-aantay nalang sila na ang client pa mismo magreklamo sa kanila kung bakit walang connection. and thats the only time that they will tell you. worst thing is, if you are going to ask them when it'll be resumed, they always said "we do not know"

Parang ganito:

IF $unpaid_balance > 0.00 && $present_date > $due_date THEN DISCONNECT_SERVICE;

Computers are really cold and ruthless. :glee:

Try to understand how the system works para iwas hassle ka next time. *okay*

Isipin mo, there could be hundreds and thousands of subscribers out there. *okay*

Oh, you mean "scheduled" downtimes. Yup, I think it's a good suggestion to tell PLDT to have an online schedule of server downtimes (although I think internet services usually don't have regular scheduled downtimes that affect customers because servers have a "replication" capability that automatically transfers server functions to a spare machine when a "regular" maintenance is on schedule).

For "unscheduled" downtimes, that would be hard to predict. Atleast they should have a "hotline" number where clients can call for inquiry.

Well, how could they send you notice if biglaan din ang down ng system or equipment...

@munchy_munch

Or Bayantel.

Owning a business, you should already know the risks.

However, PLDT has no excuse for downtimes if it last quite long. Ok lang sana kung saglit - tolerable pa. I think they still have to work on some areas lalo na dun sa madalas magkaroon ng disconnections. Well, I'm lucky enough not to be in areas prone to intermittent downtimes. I'd say that customer experience is always subjective.

Make an appointment with the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) to arrange a REFUND from PLDT. Because PLDT binds you to a contract when you paid your DSL service, PLDT is obliged to provide you an acceptable quality of goods and services in return. Read any disclaimers (they are usually written in very small fonts) on the PLDT website before you ask for a refund.

Yep, PLDT DSL is a 50-50 chance service. It's either you get a jackpot connection, or a connection from hell.

I had my PLDT DSL for one month now, so far no disconnection issues and the speed is awesome. I downloaded a 1.4 GIG movie (it's a porn movie so sue me! :D ) in just 24 hours.

So i filed a complaint sa DTI/NTC and they tried to work that out with ISP. Ayun, after sometime nakaka-connect nako dahil dinagdagan yung mga dial-up numbers nila.

I think the important thing here is mag-file kayo ng claim sa DTI parati para ma-pressure yang PLDT to improve their service. Isa pa, if DTI/NTC sees that PLDT could not offer quality service, they can prevent PLDT from advertising any further or prevent them from offering promotions that they could not sustain.

Wag kayong mag-mukmuk sa isang sulok. Go out and complain.! People Power against poor DSL service! *okay*

neth_row
Jul 22, 2005, 04:48 AM
I experienced problems with my PLDT DSL connection as well when we had it hooked up last October. Everything was going fine and dandy until December, when we first started getting dropped connections. It got worse every month, with PLDT having to do housecalls every other week to replace boxes, modems, lines, etc. It culminated last March, when we had everything re-wired and replaced, including the thingies hanging in the posts.

It's been four months, and there haven't been any connection anymore. Problem is, after all the hassle that we went through, not a single centavo has been compensated by PLDT.

Not really technical related.

Again, posting your anger here can ease your pain, but it will not help you. Only DTI/NTC can help you on that so suggest you file a complaint there. The more complainants, the more chances that it will be acted upon.

That's what consumers can do when a service is monopolized. There is no better competition out there. The best you can do is actively seek for a rebate or flood all the complaints to DTI/NTC. Only the government can impose sanctions or compensation for the benefit of consumers.

There's a residential line rental of P700+ so tack that to the cost of your DSL plan plus whatever NDD (landline to cellphones, landline to provinces) and IDD calls you've made, then that's your phone bill.

This is the reason why you have difficulty connecting to most sites.

I don't know what your OS is but you can test by doing what we call a ping test.

sa prompt > ping google.com

after five to 10 iterations, do a control C to terminate the program, take note of the ping times in milliseconds, right most figure, also take a look at the summary and take note of the % packet loss.

Do this in the am and in the pm. I am sure you will find the following results.

Sa A.M. ang ping time mas maliit ang figure (means connection is faster) and halos walang % packet loss.

Sa gabi, ang ping time mo will be 2 to 5 times (or higher) than what you got in the morning, ibig sabihin mabagal na. But, the main problem is iyong % packet loss, any figure greater than 3%, mabagal na ang system.

No solution, just grin and bear it, ganyan pag nag-share lang tayo ng international bandwidth sa maraming mga subscribers.

my plan is up to 256kbps dapat.

any way i can fix this?!

No way maka kuha ka ng 256kbps 24/7. Hindi possible iyon, if you get between 85% to 95% of the speed you purchased, OK na iyon.

Sa PLDT DSL the 256kbps speed is from your computer to PLDT domestic gateway. Hindi kasama sa speed na 256K, iyong from PLDT domestic gateway to the Internet, marami masyadong variables for them to guarantee that.

In the US, the figures are vastly different, since they don't have any international gateway to talk about (since everybody connects to them, long story). So sa USA pag 256K, halos > 200 kbps ang palagi nakukuha mo.

Same story ito sa Japan, Taiwan at Korea, since sila ang content na kinukuha domestic lang, halos hindi nagagalaw ang international link, mabilis talaga ang connection.

Sa pinas, halos lahat international.

Tama ka Sir, we cannot be choosers.

I wish we could offer something better, pero wala.

Thank God, maraming mga call center dito sa Pinas, they are the primary reason why it is now possible to offer DSL at more or less affordable prices.

Is anyone here on the 1995 plan? How is the speed, especially for downloading and uploading? Any downtimes?

I am thinking of downgrading to the 1995 plan (from the MyPersonal @ 2,500/month). Recently, I heard from PLDT DSL that they were willing to waive the downgrade penalty fee of P5,000 should I choose to downgrade.

my only concerns are that the speed of course, will be much slower than what I am used to. Also, I have VOIP installed here (because of work) and I'm wondering if the quality may be compromised.

Any opinions would be welcomed.

Has anybody encountered these problems with their PLDT DSL? Its truly a headache recently! Each ping to their internet gateway would take around 2000 ms - 4000 ms to reply and the packet losses is 20%! The sluggishness peak at 11 am to 8 pm then gradually subsides to nil afterwards and this repeats everyday. I'm new to their DSL. I don't know what is wrong with their system and don't know how fast they would come here to check the lines or if ever they can fix it at all? If anybody has the experience please share your knowledge. Need your encouragement. Thanks!

eeek kakatawag lang ng PLDT offering their DSL. Tempting kasi parang ang bilis ng connection. Gamit ko ngayon is Destiny and daming beses na down sya kaya I'm planning to switch to a better broadband service

Gamit ko ngayon is Destiny and daming beses na down sya kaya I'm planning to switch to a better broadband service

So I think that concludes it: Kahit PLDT, Globe, Smart, Destiny, etc. maraming reklamo talaga about their broadband service.

You just have to go for the one you think is a much lesser evil.

Oo nga eh. At least with Destiny, may kasamang cable TV. mabilis din ang support nila

all you have to do is maximize your TCP receive window size.. make sure you back up your registry settings though.. i found this site, worked wonders for me..(no more high latency and no dropped packets) check it out.. http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/ good luck!

Its already maximized at 262 K before using DSL Speed. According to the link above I'm worry that it could be signal interferences because some returned packets have higher latency when pinged than during early morning although its more tolerable now than earlier this week. Hope it doesn't aggravate to untolerable again tommorow.

yes, i saw it at yesterday's paper. nung nakita ko nagalit ako! how could they come up with an advertisement if they cant even provide good service? esp in my case na 1 month nang naghihintay para sa installation! :grrr: anyway, upon seeing the ad i callled their customer service to followup (again) my application. the csr was courteous enough and i was told that it would be installed within this week (again again again!!!) :mecry:

Assuming your area is DSL ready it took me more than a month of waiting but took 3-4 days to come after I call the PLDT branch of our area which do the installing.

pero not all the time i get this connection mga 4-5 times a year *** lasting 3 days to 2 weeks each time! ako na yata pinaka maswerte ng myDSL subscriber in terms of connection speed.... mura murahin nio nako kung di kayo makapaniwala pero nangyari to sakin

I'm not sure if the 262K was properly set by DSL Speed because TCPOptimizer doesn't indicate the current values in the TCP Receive Window. So used regedit.exe to examine and the value indicated in TCPWindowSize is 262592 reg_sz (string value). After resetting it with TCPOptimizer and its optimal settings for 512 Kbps here are the improved results! :)

UST, ADMU, DLSU and UP for sure kasali. For other schools, inquire na lang muna sa 171 para sure.

As for the application pala, sabi sa school daw mismo makukuha yung application form for the 999 plan. Wala silang form sa mga pldt business centers(that's what they told my mom when she went to apply). Just go and ask your school admin. Alam na daw nila yun. Kukuha nga ako bukas e. What area your DSL is situated and whats your DSL plan? Been two months and Plan 1995 is ok so far. Unlike SkyDSL didn't notice any peak hours. Speed is consistent 24/7 throughout. Hope it will stay this way forever.

They operate at different channels so you can still use your fax and dial-up.

any tips on how i can increase my download speed?

when i use download managers, there's no problem raeching the full 32 KBps, but when i browse webpages that have embedded videos (media player, flash videos etc) it takes forever to download.

Also i tried downloading something off the net, my download speed was only 1.2KBps, i thought it was a problem with the site's bandwidth till i asked my friend who was using smart wifi if he had the same problem. He said no, and that he actually reached 80 KBps while downloading that same file.

So how do i increase my download speed? The site i mentioned above doesn't allow the use of download managers and it'll simply take forever to download the 100+ MB file with only a speed of 1+ Kbps.

They won't give the micro filter to you for free if the extension lines that you have are illegal. No choice ka. You would need one micro filter for each extension that you have, or else erratic ang dsl connection mo everytime the extension lines are in use.

May promo pa ba ng pldtdsl? I was browsing their site, and 1995 per month is still kind of too steep for me.

is it just me or talagang may kabagalan mag load ang pex? Everytime kasi ako nagpe-pex palaging ganun.

yes, mas mabagal nga mag load ang Pex compared to the other sites. probably because there's a lot of us logged-on sa server nila. if you can recall (way back) dati nang problema to ng Pex :D

take it from me

kaya lang mahirap talaga palagpasin yung 999 a month eh. how much ngayon ang pinakamurang unlimited sa dialup? 440! at may kasama pang hassles yan sa pag connect at bagal ng connection. now, just add 560 pesos, almost 5x na ang speed, makakagamit ka pa ng phone while connected. tsambahan nalang sa status ng connection. yung iba di nagkakaproblema, yung iba naman, madalas.

i have to agree though regarding sa after sales service..sobrang bulok.

kaya nga wag muna kayu magpaconnect kasi saturated na masyado ang pldt. ako at ibang mga customers nagsusuffer kasi kuha sila ng kuha ng bagong customer tapos *** iba naaapektuhan..at may chance din maapektuhan ang mga bago..remember this bulok ang service nila at may 3 mos na nakatali ka pagnapaputol...so kung bago ka palng at after a month e bumagal ka, e malas nlng kasi pag pinaputol mo, mas malaki babayaran sa pretermination.

Tsk!

f3mm3_fatal3, my friend just inquired at the Smart Wireless Center in SM North EDSA today and they said that this introductory price of Php 788 (reg. Php988) is meant for their provincial launch. Yes. Provincial lang. For Metro Manila, October pa daw ang launching and they have no idea about the rates for the metropolis yet.

In order for you to decide.....Locate the nearest PLDT Center at your place....kung tingin mo at least 2 KM (4 KM required) yung layo ng center sa lugar mo....A good chance na mabilis ang internet connection mo

^ yung ibang dns servers kasi ng pldt, down palagi. especially in my case. during the first week, ok lahat. i didn have any problems accessing different sites. pero one day, ayun, di na gumana karamihan sa sites. the customer reps wont tell you anything you didnt know. kesyo down daw yung pinupuntahan kong site, try again later, etc!

so i searched around and tried changing dns settings. voila, nabuksan ko na lahat ng 'down' na site. no more surfing problems. up to now, wala nang problema sa connection ko.

Our pldt bill came today. My jaw dropped as i saw the internet charges section of our bill. Pldt charged us P2700+ for DSL PRE-TERMINATION FEE and another P1699.18 for the dsl MSF!!! :grrr: I was like, "huh? plan 999 lang naman ang inaplyan namin tapos halos 4K ang singil sa amin!" I even double checked with the CSR bago dumating yung nagkabit sa amin.

skuidward
Sep 26, 2005, 01:11 PM
I just called pldt. I-checheck daw nung CSR kung bakit meron kaming pre-termination fee pero supposedly wala daw dapat. Tapos about the MSF, yung period covered daw kasi is from Aug 25 from Oct. 20, almost 2 months na, kaya more than 999.
