Ndi ganyan ang 999. Like i said its their stupid maintenance thats been going on for 1 month and counting now.
See what i mean when they purposely leave customers clueless by not giving any kind of advisory?

I've tried 3 tests above, so far ok naman ah.
Actually there was an incident that the speed falls way way below as subscribed. It took PLDT 2 months to take action on my case. They told me that they are currently upgrading the data center, so my line got affected as well. They repaired it on the spot, and got my speed back within the day. After that, I've been getting speed as to what I have posted above. There are also times I experience no DSL service at all. I called up and they say they are currently troubleshooting the problem and I'm not the only one affected as the whole of the Philippines is affected. They got it back within the day.
are you on 1mbps plan?
No one uses Globequest kasi madaya yan.
A 56kbps dialup modem connection can easily get a 70+kbps rating at globequest.
Try PLDT play speedtest

The speed test is from the office I'm working. I'll check the plan tomorrow, nasa bahay na ako eh.
Ok, I'll post several speed test from Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and PLDT play tomorrow so we can get a better non-bias testing. I hope the traffic from these sites are not high because it will greatly affect the accuracy of the test. I chose those countries because it's nearer the Philippines, and we can expect, more or less accurate speed testing from these countries.
If you can also provide other speed test located in the Philippines, it will be better.
Thanks.

That's bad, seems a rip-off. Complain and complain. Don't give up. Ako 2 months, ikaw pa? lolz!
Plan 999 is 384 Kilobits per second max (Kb/s). So that's about 384/8, you get 48 KiloBytes per second (KB/s). You should be getting an average of 345.60Kb/s (10%-12% less is normal) or 43.20 KB/s.
When I was having problems with the DSL, what I did was, I bypassed the splitter, and connected the main phone line directly to the modem. I disconnected the phone as well. The speed improved a little. Try mo, maybe it will help kahit konti.

I think the fast pace growth of PLDT DSL is more than they can handle. I think there's not enough engineers and technicians to maintain the overflowing client base. So, some users suffer, some users don't. Although, I do have the confidence that they are able to repair technical problems effectively, however, the response time is really slow. So, I think some users have no choice but to wait really long. They really need to improve on this fast!
I think, IMHO, what PLDT is doing now is to get as much subscribers as possible and just ignore maintanance for awhile. So what, diba? Locked in tayo for 3 years, no choice. But yes choice for P3,000 termination fee. Talino talaga. lolz!
However, if only the competition would give 1-2 months free promo for subscribers from PLDT DSL who are thinking of terminating the service, so as to offset the P3,000 termination fee...... you know the scenario.
If you can't take good care of your client, somebody else will.
My humble opinion lang.

My PLDT line was problematic for the first 3 months or so. I had them set up a dedicated line for my DSL connection, and I haven't had any problems for more than a year already (save for a day or two of latency once in a while, but it's not that big a deal to me).
Bottom line is, if you have problems with your connection, talk to the people/department concerned. *****ing out wouldn't help; the PLDT people will only make your lives worse if your approach is negative.

SKY DSL
Go for SKY DSL best there is for me. Best value for price and service
ZPDEE DSL
Very reliable service, 999+php for 384kpbs. Stable and consistent speeds. Fast service. fast repair request.
Destiny cable
New and improved service. Previously bought by SAMSUNG yata. 999 for 512Kbps plus the fact na cable sya meaning sa gabi pag download ka umaabot ng 1mbps ang speed pag wala na msayado users. Stable connection. Fast service and repair.
GLOBE

From a Jennette G, posted Jan. 13 '06 at the Smart Bro Feedback Forum:
(Note: This article was posted also in this website
http://www.yugatech.com/blog/?p=132&cp=158#comments) and I was
encouraged to post it here as well. So here goes:
To all disgruntled Smart Wifi Subscribers:
These are the things you need to do to make your case solid:
1. At the time that you realized that you don't have any connection,
call Smart Service Center (*1888 if you're a Smart user or
02-672-7277) right away. Jot down date and time of call and person you
spoke to. Ensure also that you jot down the resolution that the
representative promised you.
2. Do not forget to request for rebate for any service interruption.
Again, jot down the time, date and person you talked to when you made
the request.
3. If you have decided that you had enough trouble and would like to
discontinue the service, go to the nearest Smart Wireless Center to
state the request. Check with the customer representative if all your
previous complaints are in their records. (In my experience, all my
complaints are not found in their records.) So it's a wise move to
keep a log of your complaint calls. DO NOT FORGET TO REQUEST SMART TO
WAIVE THE PRETERMINATION CHARGES.
4. Most likely, Smart Wireless Center people will not act on this
request since they will forward it to another outfit that really
handles this part of their operations. Make sure to get an email
address where you can formally state your termination request. Send
the email and keep it in file.
5. If you have received no action on this email (give it at least 2
weeks), send a letter of complaint to NTC (ntc@ntc.gov.ph). Also,
write in the feedback form of the NTC website regarding your troubles
with Smart Wifi.
6. If you have not received any reply from either party and you have
ensured that you have documented your case really well, call MS.
BRIONES of NTC (02-922-4084). She is in charge of handling Smart Wifi
complaints.
7. According to Ms. Briones, she will set up a mediation meeting
between Smart Wifi representative and you where complaints will be
heard and actioned (hopefull).
Smart Wifi finally approved my termination of their services without
paying the pre-termination charges. They also sent me a total of about
1,400++PHP rebate for the 'no connection' period from Sept. to Dec.
and will return the full month's subscription of 788 for month of Jan.
2006.
I can claim my refund at the Smart Wireless Center in Festival Mall in
Alabang (this is the Wireless Center that I initially filed my formal
complaint). So based on this experience, I think that the steps I
initially recommended are effective. I have also some forum friends in
another website who tried the above steps and were able to work out
the refund of their installation fee by returning the Smart Wifi canopy.
Remember this guys: Smart Wifi does not want to go into mediation. So
try to stay calm and collected and know what you want before you start
negotiating with them.
-----------------------------------
Let's hope this'll work for the rest of us. I'm going to Smart Mega
today. Hehe.

For those who are having some selective browsing issues you might wanna try manually configuring the DNS setting of PLDT to your network settings.
(DNS data name server - Server responsible for browsing sites)
1. go to you control panel and NETWORK SETTINGS or NETWORK CONNECTIONS
2. Locate your LAN Icon usually it should denote "Connected" "firewalled". Take note it is not your PLDT dialer. It should be the icon symbolizing you network card.
3. Right click and choose properties. look for the TCP/IP section on the white box. Highlight it and then click the properties button.
4. Make sure you just choose "obtain IP address automatically and then choose the "USE the FF DNS settings" option.
5. Input the DNS : 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 click OK

Here's my speed today...wahooo....just got a FREE upgrade to 2Mbps from PLDT DSL and as promised.
Been anticipating for this. Look at the speed test:
Astig!! Wahooo....

^call them up. I called them up on May 9 regarding the free upgrade as this was the supposed date which I will be upgraded. The customer service rep gave me a number to call up and he assigned me an account number or someting, I forgot. The next morning I called up this person and she told me I'm still on the waiting list and I may follow up again after some days, in which I didn't or couldn't be bothered. I was rather frustrated that day.
Anyway, today, a mircale happened, I got my free upgrade. lol.

@jdelacruz: I'm on mydsl plan at home. I'm not sure whether it's open to all plans. Maybe you could try calling them up. At the office I'm working, it's 768kbps biz plan, but they upgraded it to 2Mbps as well.
@ferrari25: If you used it for 2 years, I don't see any problem terminating the service. Just show them the contract you signed so terminating the service will be a breeze.

I'd like to share my experience with PLDT. Their DSL service sucks big time. You can never rely on them even if you pay huge sum of money per month, you are never sure that you'll wake up the next day with internet connection. Even their business plan (3.5k /month) is as fast as DIALUP. They have amazingly incompetent support people who make you restart your computer 5 times and restart your modem 5 times after telling you that their server is down. If you would like to have DSL, then let this be a warning.

Thanks for sharing your story, but your PLDT horror story is certainly not the first, nor will it be the last. Several threads both here and elsewhere (like in www.pinoydsl.com) have been filled with similar anecdotes and experiences. Maybe this thread should just be merged with those.

i just bought a new router. d-link DI-254 wireless router 802.11g/2.4GHz. i'm using pldt dsl plan 999 and i have a zyxel prestige 600. problem is i'm not able to access the router's (dlink) gateway to go on with the configuration.
my modem (zyxel) setting are:
mode: bridge
encapsulation: RFC 1483
multiplex: LLC
Virtual circuit ID:
VPI 0
VCI 100
i tried removing the zyxel modem and connecting the dlink router directly to my pc to check if i can access the gateway. but to no avail. i also tried releasing the ip by doing ipconfig/release in the dos prompt but it says its unable to process the said operation.
i'm so clueless at this point. pls help me. need to configure this asap for my sister's laptop to work. tnx in advance!

dunno if this will help, but without knowing specific details about your connection:
1) connect your Dlink to your DSL modem
2) set your Dlink settings to "obtain an IP automatically"
Hope that helps. sorry if it doesn't :D

Guys, I'm a very unsatisfied customer of PLDT's business DSL. Unfortunately, I can't switch to other ISP coz PLDT is the only provider in our building. My DSL is my life because I work from home, and whenever they're down for some reason that the 172 or PLDT techinicians are not even aware of, I don't get paid. I would like to make this people realize that I am not paying them big money every month to just give me the run-around. I'm thinking of doing it legally but I don't know if that's a good idea or if its is, on how to go about it. I hope that there's somebody out there who can help me.

I just got off the phone with PLDT. The information from their website is inaccurate. I called twice and talked to 2 different rep to make sure.
MyDSL Experience (P999) speed is just up to 256 kbps (not 384)
MyDSL Xcite (P1995) speed is just up to 512 kbps (not 768)
MyDSL Xcel (P3000) speed is just up to 1 mbps (not 2)
We've been subcribing to MyDSL Personal package for the last 2 years, we get billed P2,272. They claim we're getting speed up to 768 kbps. They said they don't offer this package anymore.

biglang one day, more than a week after, nagkaroon nalang bigla ulit. problem is nabago naman yung IP address ko (may static IP naka assign sakin)! so kulitan nanaman sa cs rep nila for another week bago may pumuta dito na technician or something. sabi sakin nag upgrade daw sila and nag transfer ng equipment at hindi na mababalik yung IP ko bago nalang daw.
one week sila naguupgrade wala manlang advisory or something na mawawalan ako ng connection. tapos babaguhin din nila IP address ko without notice.

That happened to me also. Leave the modem on so their tech people can check it yadda yadda. Then came the big news, they were upgrading something daw pala. After a week on very slow speed (imagine surfing on 8kBps) nagwala na ako talaga. I apologized naman and explained to her that I just had to vent. It's not her fault, if she knows nothing about what's going on then blame her boss. The person who heads their customer service department should be axed. Walang kwenta. Anyway, I made a formal complaint through a letter and voila! My MSF for that month was waived.

what DSL service would you recommend for a small business (maybe 5 - 10 pcs)? can you also give comments on them pati na rin PLDT MyDSL if you're business is subscribed to them so I could do thorough comparisons..
thanks again

You can get LAN cards for much cheapter than 1k. Mine is a CNet Pro200 PCI and coincidentally it also cost just 200 pesos. No need to buy anything fancy; this one has never given me any trouble since it was first used.

if you have an option to subscribe to skydsl or globelines, it would be better instead of going for pldt dsl. pldt dsl has gone down 5x in the last 6 months. their service is even worse. you need to wait for 30mins-1hr before you get someone answer on the other line. if their service went down, they don't give you automatic rebates. you need to call pldt (landline) to tell them that you encountered a downtime on this particular date. if you didnt report it to pldt (dsl), they will not give you rebates.
im still in pldt right now. but im checking out sky dsl if they're available in the area. if not, i might get globelines since they're readily available.

I was quite content with my DSL connection from PLDT until today this morning. For some reason I called thier customer support ( 172 ) and asked them the speed of my package, which was plan 1995.
My package started at 512 kbps ( that was about two years ago ), and from PLDT's ads it was upgraded to 768 and if the news in PLDT Mypad is correct, it will soon be 1.2. Now when I asked customer support for the speed of my package they told me it was 512, WTF? Here I was, believing that my connection speed was 768 since the time they advertised the speed increase ( which was supposed to include existing packages ).
I guess I was too gullable. I understand that ADSL speeds are affected by distance, and that, lead me to believe that I'm at 768 speeds, but, I'll have a lower connection speed, since I estimate that, I'm more than 2 kms away from the CO. That's why I never verified my package speed, up until this morning.
In short, I been lied to. And now I'm looking for a new dsl provider. If any of you can suggest one, please don't hesitate to post a reply. I'm in Kalookan City, and I'm not sure if there are any other dsl provider except PLDT.

IN today's DSL world (atleast in the Philippines), the advise you get from someone is only applicable to him until you try it out yourself and it works for you too. DSL experience is a person-to-person phenomena. I'm on PLDT MyDSL 1995 too, and my current speed as I checked it right now - it's 910 kbps.

The reason for my unsatisfaction is not the speed. As I have mentioned in my previous post, I understand that I won't attain high speeds due to my location. But the thing that pissed me off, is that, my package still reflects the old speed not the upgraded one. As I said, I asked PLDT's customer service, about the speed of my package, he/she checked it in thier computer, and it returned 512 not 768. So basically my account is still configured at 512 speeds not 768. Never mind if I gain only a few kilobits additional speed, the important thing here is that, they deliver on what they advertise. All along I believed in thier ads, I even asked customer service, when the first speed increase was advertised, if existing packages will receive the upgrade, they said yes. But, they never upgraded my account.

^ Have a PLDT Technician go to your house so they can see for themselves what the speed is on your end. Sometimes, I get 512 or 320 kbps too. But it fluctuates back to 910+ like every other minute or so (try to click the speed meter everytime as an experiment). DSL speed is like a very unstable blood pressure, you can't predict what the speed is every minute. I'm not trying to defend PLDT here, I'm just trying to make sense of what may be happening. Monopoly sucks, you know.

I'm not complaining about the speed of my connection ( but faster is always nice ). My complaint is that, I was stuck at 512 configuration without knowing it. And all the while believing that my connection was already 768, up until yesterday morning when I inquired customer service. It felt like I was scammed by PLDT.

You're right PLDT really sucks, I guess you wont realize it until you experience it. Before I've known that my connection was still at 512 kbps, I thought that PLDT was OK.
Now after battling with the customer service, and been rederected to 171 instead of 172 ( the customer service numbers ), they told me that they are still in the process of upgrading, and ceratain areas will not get the speed increase. I ask them which areas were already upgraded. The answer they gave me... they don't have th list at the moment (Sigh... Great, just great). They told me that, I will be notfied if and when my connection will be upgraded. I asked them the when will I be notified? The answer... Call next month .
This is another fact I've uncovered with my conversation, with 171 customer support. I told them that since they are already offering 768 for plan 1995, then maybe I should have my subscription terminated, then re-apply. That way I'll get 768 speeds, since it's what they're offering now. THE ANSWER THEY GAVE ME? If I re-pply then I will still get UP TO 512, NOT UP TO 768 . How can that be? I went to the Bussiness Center for my area and got me the package list and it indicated plan 1995 is up to 768.
For all you applying for a new connection, please verify first that you will be getting what you pay for, before you go through with the application.
Still looking for a new provider in the Kalookan area, please post alternatives to PLDT. Thnx.

I guess I'll just have to wait for bayantel to call.
Kung tutuusin wala akong problem sa PLDT when it comes to service interruptions. Twice lang ang na-aalala kong nag-down ang connection ko in 2 yrs. Naasar lang ako, kasi, I'm supposed to be paying 1995 php, for an up to 768 connection dahil dun sa speed upgrade. And even if I terminate my subscription, then re-apply for the same package , ganun pa din ang speed? Up to 512 pa din? Despite what thier advertisment says? This leads me to believe na, due to my location, I can only have, up 512 connection speeds.
Paano kaya kung napa-upgrade ko, ang package ko back then? Will I just get, up to 512 speeds? Will they tell me that I cannot upgrade, due to my location which will not support speeds higher than 512? Good thing I didn't.

It should be. I believe, all they have to do is change the configuration of our connection. They must have something that limits the bandwidth of a connection depending dun sa package na kinuha.

unfortunately our laws prohibits foreigners from acquiring or owning a telecommunications firm in the Philippines but they can invest in an existing telecommmunications firm like Ntt docomo for instance has some shares of PLDT. sad to say we all just have to wait for PLDT to cave in and sell some of their majority shares and the rights to metro manila. In cebu it's no longer PLDT it's globelines that's been the prevailing telecommunications firm according to a friend who visited cebu.

someone told me that there is no dedicated dsl line for each user of PLDT what really happen is you get to share a line with someone else existing dsl connection in your area. so there's no way that you could come up with a speed that your hoping for it's rather costly for a telco company such as PLDT to put a dedicated line for each dsl user.

anyway it's business sense why would a telco like pldt would waste their logistical resources on a particular subscriber rather they could spend it on 5 or more subscriber of dsl in an area. more money for the company.
even if you file a formal complain against PLDT it's a win win situation for the company. they know that if you were to switch to another dsl provider you need to apply for a landline first, no way will PLDT allow another telco to tap into their line so that you could have another dsl provider.

You should be getting 60-80% of the maximum speed, most of the time according to PLDT customer support. So kung up to 768 kbps you should be getting 460-615 kbps or 57.5-76.875 kilobytes per second.

yes, it means that even if you have a PLDT landline, you may apply for a Bayantel SkyDSL or Globelines Broadband connection (without landline). IT WILL NOT BE TAPPED in the PLDT line existing, instead, Bayantel SkyDSL or Globelines Broadband will establish another phonebox for your dsl connection.

Speaking of PLDT Landline and DSL, PLDT has a new 888 plan. For P888 per month (excluding VAT), you get a combined landline and DSL service. For those with existing lines, you can also upgrade it to plan 888.

baste, yan din ang plan ko. Add the monthly service fee for the phone line, taxes and I end up paying a little less than 3,000 per month. That's for speeds of up to 512kbps ONLY. Pure crap. Guess what, at Bayantel and SkyDSL I'll be paying the same amount but I will get speeds of up to 2Mbps.
"Good day! In line with your query below, please be advised that your current DSL subscription provides you with download speed of up to 512 kbps; speeds of up to 1.2 Mbps may only be attained by telephone lines under Next Generation Network (NGN).
New Generation Network utilizes the use of line facilities that are DSL ready. This is especially helpful in addressing the inability to serve DSL due to unavailable facilities and non-DSL capable lines. Implementation of New Generation Network (NGN) is being rolled-out per area."

nabwisit talaga ako.. tatawag ulit ako para mag follow up maya

Most likely they'll tell you that, only subscribers 2 km away from the C.O. can attain those speeds. I've had experienced in bittorrent where I was able to download at 90+ kbps from start to finish (too bad it only happened once). This tells me my connection can handle higher bandwidths.
Bakit kaya ayaw nila i-upgrade yung connection ko? Alam ko namang kaya nung linya.

ang tanong bakit ayaw nila i upgrade yung connection ng mga old subscirbers to the appropriate speed. dapat nga mas importante kasi matagal ng subscriber.. damn.. they really suck

Just for fun I google for "MyDSL poor service", and guess what got a lot of hits. I been reading quite a few of them. This guy just applied last August and read what he had to go through. http://kapenilattex.blogspot.com/2005/11/pldt-mydsl-plan-999-pirates-and-being.html
check out the his comments.

To them we are just small fish. PLDT is a big company right? Ganyan kaangas ang PLDT. Kung meron man dito mag-umpisa ng campaign against PLDT, I'll be supporting it kahit nasa Bayantel na ako. I have all the documentation to forward. You'll know how pathetic their customer service team is.

i know maraming customers na may complains at baka maramign work requests... pero sana kung ganun damihan naman nila *** tao nila.. (yung marunong na tao ha)

sinetup ko wi-fi router ng gf ko.for more than a year naka-dsl/modem lang sila tapos yesterday bumili ako ng wi-fi router. after 4 hours, nawala internet connection nila. may case na ba sa inyo nangyari na pinutol ng pldt ang connection kasi kinabit sa router? bawal ba yung ginawa ko?

Damn! Another speed increase, plan 1995 is already at 1.5 mbps. It started from 512 to 768 to 1.2 to 1.5 mbps, pero ang connection 512 pa din after 2 years.

if your dowload rate is more or less 100 kbps it's 1.2Mbps. marami din kasing factors nakakaapekto ng actual speed eh. akin nga 2.2Mbps account ko pero ngayon yung speed ko pang 900 kbps lang. nagffluctuate talaga.
baste
Oct 30, 2006, 08:45 PM
ako i'm one of the unlucky ones. 1995 plan but ONLY f@cking 512kbps... kesyo di pa daw open sa lahat.. so dadpat hindi nila advertise yun..
